Reviews for Hotel Hurricane
Review 1:We booked a table for New Years Eve on our arrival..... They were over booked from People outside the Hotel coming in... We were sat in the Reception Area and decided not to eat there in the end
Review 2:The location was wonderful
Review 3:Evening menu not always available in English - but staff always happy to help translate.
Review 4:The hotel is set in beautiful gardens right on the beach. Both the breakfast and evening meals where excellent
Review 5:At night the noise of conversation carried very easily in the area outside our room...and our neighbours complained...we thought we talked very quietly...apearences deceive.
Review 6:Coming down to breakfast late in a dressing gown
Review 7:The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and has steps down to the beach. Although not in Tarifa town, this is a positive as it is so tranquil and relaxing. As long as you have a car or don't mind paying for a few taxis you can easily get into Tarifa town.
Review 8:Get a room that faces the back of the hotel, otherwise you can hear noise of cars from the main road. Massages are overpriced at 60 euros for 1 hour. Limited hot food options at breakfast. Finally, there is an older guy that hangs around the hotel, seems to know the owners/Managers, sort of helps out but he is a bit creepy and I don't think he should be there, as he isn't a guest.
Review 9:Relaxed, helpful and very friendly staff, great restaurant, nice beach location, tropical vibe.
Review 10:Great location, good facilities, friendly and helpful staff - very efficient with a relaxed effective style. Wonderful place to stay (..even went horse riding on the beach)
Review 11:Very poor service in restaurant for dinner. The staff were disinterested and did not make us feel welcome
Review 12:Very comfortable bed, superb views and excellent buffet breakfast
Review 13:WiFi was a bit iffy. I think given the location (well outside of any town) the hotel and restaurant was quite expensive but, that aside no real complaints.
Review 14:Generally all good. The grounds and pool areas are very nice, the room was large and the place is generally very relaxing.
Review 15:small issue with the bill which was resolved
Review 16:the property is absolutely stunning- so beautiful and relaxing. Swimming in the pool was a highlight of my trip.
Review 17:Needed a taxi or car to get off the property. A bus is available only during some months. Be sure to contact the hotel beforehand for taxi information to get there from the Tarifa bus station in case you arrive after the bus station closes (like we did). No food is available from 4pm-8pm so plan accordingly.
Review 18:Had to keep pinching ourselves that we could afford to stay in a hotel with such unbelievable views of the ocean. Felt like we were staying in a tropical garden paradise while at the pool and bar. You can walk right onto the beach from hotel grounds. Hotel property is also only for hotel guests so there is added privacy and calmness without beachgoers wandering around. I will never forget lounging on the outdoor chaise watching the ocean and kite surfers.
Review 19:The staff are lovely, the hotel is comfy and filled with a variety of nationalities who are friendly. It's a chilled out place to go with a beautiful beach at your fingertips.
Review 20:Some of the staff can sometimes seem a little frosty- I tried speaking Spanish & this helps & then most are generally helpful . There are a lot of families who stay here if you want a more young people with more of a party vibe then pick another hotel
Review 21:I always look forward to staying at the Hurricane, with it's stunning lush gardens & pools looking over the beach, clean white linen in the bedrooms, amazing lunch in the beach side restaurant & awesome yoga classes & horse riding a couple times a wk.. It's a great base for R&R
Review 22:Everything was very good The hotel so near the beach, the garden, our room nr 9, the dinner, the breakfast and the friendly staff. Hope we will be back some day. Very relaxing.
Review 23:The staff made minimum effort. The breakfast totally self service. Guests put up to cook eggs in an old broken machine and to slice tomatoes and cheese with old knifes. Not hygienic. Bugs in bed. Old blanketts and uncomfortable pillows. Got room with view over parking lot when asked for nice view. The Hotel was almost empty.
Review 24:The buildings and the surroundings
Review 25:Leaving
Review 26:Everything. Once you get there will know what I mean The staff are fantastic and warm Lunches at the chiringuito great but dinner is the best
Review 27:Being told we should have reserved a table for dinner when the resturant was nearly empty and being moved from a table by the fire because it was set for 5. This table never got used and the waiter made us feel like we were being a pain. If they got rid of this miserable old man it would have been the perfect weekend.
Review 28:It was recommending by a friend and certainly lived up to expectations A roaring log fire in the dining room/bar was a welcome sight after our arrival in a downpour. The ambiance is perfect. Hope to visit again on our return trip from Morocco.
Review 29:The room had obviously been smoked in previously. The strong smell of the product they used to try and mask it was not much better.
Review 30:Location was great, the lunch in the cabana bar was excellent. Did not have time to try the pools but both looked inviting! Dinner was nice and romantic.
Review 31:We were only able to get a roadside room which was a little noisy. The hotel sells no food between 2pm-8pm, so you will go hungry if you miss lunch! Without a car, there aren't any local restaurants/cafes - only an expensive shop at a local campsite selling crisps/icecreams and a small local beachbar which serves food but at limited times. Hotel not great for English travellers - the restaurant has no English menu so bring your guidebook! Not many staff speak English. No cashpoint on site or anywhere close.
Review 32:We loved the horse riding at Hurricane Hipica next to the hotel - it was fantastic value and we loved the gorgeous horses and beautiful beach/mountain rides. Bring cash for riding (30 euros for 1 hr, 50 for 2 hrs). Friendly staff, great for beginners (we had a first-timer on one of our rides) or experienced riders who want a good gallop across sandy beaches. It's a beautiful resort with lovely tropical gardens and 2 big swimming pools. Breakfast was great - good variety of cold cuts, cheeses, breads, cereals, fruits and juices. Free wifi across the whole resort was great. Room was spacious with huge bed, fridge and safe. Bathroom had a brilliant powershower and an enormous bath.
Review 33:Attitude of staff. Bill incorrect (overcharged by 48 euros) I injured myself and my partner asked for a bandage and alcoholic wipe - the receptionist refused and instructed us to go to the pharmacy!
Review 34:Location. Facilities. Setting. Comfy room.
Review 35:Nothing
Review 36:Beautiful but simple hotel and gardens designed with a great relaxed 'vibe'. Sub tropical vegetation reminds me of Mexico . It feels as if the management have really understood what guests need to feel 'at home' without the need to offer a 'luxury' experience in terms of unecessary extras.
Review 37:Bathroom a little tired - but everything worked.
Review 38:Excellent garden leading to a virtually private beach. Having 2 swimming pools, one for adults only is a nice touch.
Review 39:I love this place and come here when I need to recharge!
Review 40:Relax relax
Review 41:No TV in the room.
Review 42:Very helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms and very good food. Free Wifi widely available throughout the property.
Review 43:The ambiance is great, The view spectacular, all you want from a short stay
Review 44:No treadmill in the gym and service of staff a bit slow
Review 45:Nice rooms, fantastic beach bar terrace overlooking the sea
Review 46:for me is everything perfect, simple, nice, clean
Review 47:The restaurant staff - they never cracked a smile!
Review 48:most things
Review 49:a bit noisy at night with thin walls breakfast not great

Review 53:Bathroom ventilation in room 8 was poor
Review 54:Loved the enviroment
Review 55:Beautiful grounds and great restaurant. Will definitely return again.
Review 56:Food at dinner time was disappointing

Review 62:Bed was quite hard
Review 63:Walking straight onto the beach, superb location
Review 64:the sea and birds
Review 65:Easy access to the seafront
Review 66:A pity Wi-Fi only works in reception
Review 67:Location - by the beach, staff very friendly and helpful; good restaurant
Review 68:Nothing, we expected the wind as it is renowned for wind surfing
Review 69:Setting was excellent. Very comfortable.
Review 70:Very relaxing, and chilled out. Good friendly staff.
Review 71:Loved the laid back feel and everyone so friendly.
Review 72:Nothing to complain about
Review 73:Food was out of this world, ate in hotel both nights, couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly and very helpful
Review 74:Nice relaxing atmosphere , no frills but clean comfy room, good value for the price
Review 75:Needs modernising beds hard and uncomfortable , steak was rough and under cooked
Review 76:Fantastic location, great suite, helpful staff, nice evening meal.
Review 77:Near by water.
Review 78:We got upgraded to sea view room at no extra charge. Wonderful views. Open fire. Fantastic meal. Couldnt ask for more

Review 84:Setting, room, gardens, pools, stables, nice breakfast, good dinners
Review 85:nothing
Review 86:everything
Review 87:We liked everything
Review 88:Decor Foliage and flowered grounds Music in dining area Fireplace in evening
Review 89:service wasn't overly friendly food was just OK
Review 90:Great location, lovely room, terraces and gardens
Review 91:Absolutely nothing
Review 92:Location, gardens, relaxed atmosphere
Review 93:The staff were not very friendly
Review 94:The food and location
Review 95:Liked the seclusion and the Beach Cafe so no need to go off site. Kids loved the terrapins too!
Review 96:The rooms are nothing fantastic but are clean and basic. It really didn't bother us as we knew what to expect. A room overlooking the sea might be nice but we've never managed to get one.
Review 97:We adore the ambience of this hotel. It is totally laid back and we spent 3 days not moving. The evening BBQ on the terrace overlooking the pool and sea was terrific. We also love the access to a gorgeous unspoilt beach.
Review 98:Rooms a bit dark; could be remodeled
Review 99:Amazing grounds & gardens Right on the ocean Outstanding breakfast included Great restaurant Beautiful pool
Review 100:breakfast buffet, beach side location, pool, restaurant quality and value for money, friendly staff with personalised service, an intimate & small hotel where no request is too big.
Review 101:Was surprised to find the rooms didn't have TVs, although this didn't affect our stay. Found the prices to be a bit steep, considering it is still not high season and how basic the rooms are.
Review 102:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean with good sized comfortable beds. (Clock radios would be a nice addition)
Review 103:The food at diner did not entirely live up to expectations although others in our group praised it highly. My starter was a 'Mango y queso' salad but it was not mango that appeared on my plate, by any strech of the imagination.
Review 104:The hotel was full of character and style in stunning mature gardens which protected it from the prevailing wind. The near beach is in an area known as 'the kite flying capital' of Europe. The garden rooms we occupied were beautiful and had french doors onto their own garden area.
Review 105:The price considering we are Off season was a bit on the high side in comparison to other Hotels in the area.
Review 106:A very friendly welcome, Nice Character of the Hotel Easy access to the beach Very Comfortable double Bed Good sized bathroom Plenty of hot water for two A mosquito machine The supper and breakfast were excellent.
Review 107:A little bit expensive in the restaurant
Review 108:The fireplace by the bar, the friendly staff (the receptionist spoke to us in Spanish, French and English as we were a multi-national group)
Review 109:Level of service poor and attitude of staff indifferent bordering on rude. An attempt was even made to overcharge us at checkout. Sauna and gym facilities are supposed to be open until 20h in winter, but at 18:15 we were told it was too late to use them. Rooms tired and not as nice as website photos suggest. Note that there are no TVs in rooms and that "mountain view" really means carpark view and "sea view" means garden view. Wifi very slow.
Review 110:Great location, next to sea and beach, and easy access, off main road. Beautiful grounds with nice pools and gardens.
Review 111:The atmosphere here is very relaxing! Lots of plants on the territory. The staff is very friendly and positive. Everything worked fine, Wi-Fi is fast and reliable! Came for a week of surfing, the hotel is pretty close to Valdevaqueros. The parking is very easy to use. For sure will come again.
Review 112:Disappointed with the room 24 and also with all the hype about the restaurant we were served raw chicken!!! Very angry and glad we hadn't eaten very much of it
Review 113:The setting is magnificent, and the breakfast was very imaginative and enjoyable
Review 114:The quirkness of the place and its position on the cliff top yet the tree planting shelters you from the wind. Plus two pools and wonderfully peaceful. Great food and romantic setting. Also close for surf and birding spots
Review 115:Many staff members were curt and unfriendly. Dinner on the patio looked promising but our meals were poor quality - tough, fatty meat. Our room above the restaurant was noisy.
Review 116:Nice setting above the beach Good swimming pools Pool bar provided excellent buffet lunch
Review 117:No evening entertainment.A satellite tv in the bedrooms would be a benefit.
Review 118:I think it deserves more than a two star rating as amenities better than a two star rating and the price reflect more than a two star.Proximity to lovely beach. Quirky rooms. Water pressure in shower powerful. Nice food. Breakfast buffet - lots of choice of fresh fruit.
Review 119:Location a bit isolated for town you could walk by the beach but 7klms taxis not cheap 10euros a trip into town so confined to hotel I thought menu expensive 10% extra on Bill for food and drinks and not a lot to do after you have eaten bar would drive you to bed. Which had no tv so take plenty of books and enjoy the rest
Review 120:The cleaning staff staff nice beach for walking
