Reviews for Parador de Vielha

Review 1:There is some noise from local traffic going around the hotel, although this did not bother us much.

Review 2:This Paradore is in a beautiful mountain location. The dining room is really spacious with excellent all round views. We had the dinner meal offer, which we excellent value for money. The breakfast buffet was superb. The spa facilities are probably the best we have ever encountered.

Review 3:A minor point - the restaurant could benefit from more subdued lighting, which would improve the overall ambience.

Review 4:The location is perfect to explore the town and enjoy exceptional views of the mountains. There are many mountain walks, easily reached by foot from the Parador. The traditional Catalan menu is tasty and good value.

Review 5:This Parador is first class and in the most fantastic and spectacular position, the restaurant has amazing views of the town of Viehla below and the surrounding moutains plus the excellent cuisine. The swimming pool is in a nice position and very clean. Good value for money for a short stop over.

Review 6:Entrance to the carpark was very steep- enter to the left carpark if in a lower car.- which was closed for repairs at our time of arrival. Lack of water upon our arrival meant no possibility of showering after the long hot days travelling. Breakfast was not value for money for us as we only have a drink.

Review 7:Quite a modern feel to this Parador which offered nice facilities. Although the cost to swim even for a guest was a bit shocking! Amazing views from both the bar and Restaurant.

Review 8:Outdoor pool closed despite 26 degree heat, and told we could use spa pool instead. this was slightly misleading as there was a significant charge for using the spa. the main road out of france to spain went right by the hotel and the noise of hgvs travelling up and down the hill was significant if you had the windows open or were sitting outside in the sunshine.

Review 9:A lovely hotel with great views over Vielha and the surrounding mountains. fantastic choice of breakfast, but little or no veg with dinner (tasted great though).

Review 10:The hotel was 2 km from the town of Vielha with no footpath so it was necessary to drive, a lot of the restaurants and shops were closed.

Review 11:I liked the beautiful view from our room overlooking snow capped mountains

Review 12:Indoor pool is part of the spa complex and is expensive to use.

Review 13:Breakfast was much better this time (it had been cold on a previous visit). Restaurant staff were all very helpful and pleasant.

Review 14:A lot of noise coming from the corridors outside the room through the poorly sound insulated door.

Review 15:Very clean, great breakfast, and the rooms were comfortable with very comfy beds.

Review 16:Went to get a drink from minibar to have while bathing...nothing, apart from 1 beer and 2 water and a coke. when we queried this, we were told they were not allowed ? to put alcohol in the minibar ...but they still had the full list of what should have been in there by the side of the fridge. Ah well...we will travel with our own drinks next time

Review 17:Lovely and warm and good dinner.

Review 18:Staff quite reserved On main road from Toulouse to Spain so very busy during the day with heavy trucks Decor dated

Review 19:Lovely view of the valley Plenty of parking space Comfortable rooms Restaurant location with views of valley Food good, especially breakfast

Review 20:Expensive dinner, no regular bus service to Vielha, no kettle in the room. A bit institutionalised.

Review 21:The location was distinctive in the mountains, but we were shrouded in mist meaning poor views. Great circular sweep.

Review 22:Indoor pool is only available at a charge with via spa. Dinner menu did not change during our stay. No changing facilities convenient to outdoor pool.

Review 23:We had dinner in the hotel each evening and the food was excellent and good value. Hotel is comfortable and very well located out of town for walking etc.

Review 24:You would expect a different feeling from an historic place, but it seems these paradors are just an upscale, fency hotel s that are charging premium prices for almost any service the hotel can offer. At least the wifi is free. The feeling is cold and not welcoming. A big miss for a place with a great potential

Review 25:Views are stunning, rooms are nice, but everything around feels too fency.

Review 26:Additional cost to use spa and pool facilities was expensive. If this is part of the hotels selling points on web site it should be included in price

Review 27:Set in a beautiful part of Pyrenees, great views of mountains during use of leisure facilities and during dinner. Easy to find and good parking. Dinner and breakfast were both very good and reasonable value.

Review 28:The outdoor swimming pool was empty during our stay at he beginning of June and with a high metal fence around it, was not very attractive!

Review 29:The outside of the hotel is quite plain but the inside is lovely and the round restaurant is a very unusual feature. The bedroom was large and the bed enormous! The bathroom was perfectly adequate but the over bath shower could have done with updating. We ate in the restaurant which was excellent and waiting staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was quite expensive but one of the best ones we had on our trip. So much choice!

Review 30:The veiw

Review 31:Old bathroom facilities

Review 32:Better Service, just one person attending the bar.

Review 33:The employees need more smile

Review 34:Wonderful location, amazing food, relaxing spa

Review 35:Entering the pool / jacuzzi cost extra money.

Review 36:Great atmosphere. Very clean and comfortable. Huge bad..

Review 37:The staff didn't seem to care whether we were having a good time or not.

Review 38:The views were excellent and our up-graded room was very good.

Review 39:the restaurant staff was not very friendly and pretty slow. Food was good, however.

Review 40:the location and the overall facility

Review 41:Fabulous views.

Review 42:Staff was unwelcoming. Did not care at all about guests comfort and or their satisfaction.

Review 43:Nice and clean

Review 44:Very expensive breakfast.

Review 45:The unforgettable view from the window of the room. Space and beautiful restaurant. Aristocratic environment.

Review 46:There was a continual noise of lorries ( not during the night ) throughout the day.

Review 47:The rooms, food, building itself and staff are very good.

Review 48:The mountain views and the town of Vielha. lots of good bars and restaurants and all offering excellent value.

Review 49:Panoramic view

Review 50:Breakfast should be improved.

Review 51:Fantastic views from view rooms. Costs €20 more and worth it.

Review 52:Too expensive.

Review 53:Very nice hotel comfortable, large room good wi-fi.

Review 54:the breakfast is expensive

Review 55:nice rooms

Review 56:That we only stayed one night!

Review 57:Loved the view from the room, the room itself, the lounge and the staff.

Review 58:Outside it still looks pretty but inside it-s a tragedy: it is outdated, oldish, not maintained. The rooms need urgent refurbishment: the peinture on the walls is cracking, the furniture is old, the air condition device cannot be set from the room, so you have to ask the reception to turn it off or on. There is everywhere this small of an old building. Although they have an inside pool, the price is prohibitive: they asked 26 euro. This is not how they will attract tourists.

Review 59:The location, although not close from the village Vielha (need a car or a bike to go there), offers a magnificent view over the Valley d-Aran.

Review 60:The pool area is not very appealing following the installation of a security fence.

Review 61:Superb location with plenty of parking. Attractive bar and restaurant areas with very good food available.

Review 62:Bedrooms were a little too warm for my friends, but all in all not a problem.

Review 63:Very helpful on arrival and for departure. Triple glazing meant no noise from the road.

Review 64:Hot breakfast was cold and despite complaining nothing happened! Single waiter struggled to served tables and keep breakfast buffet well supplied. Indoor pool is classed as part of spa complex and full payment is required even if the other facilities are not used.

Review 65:Location is very good. Front of house staff and main restaurant staff were very good. Food in main restaurant (evening) was also very good.

Review 66:since it was between seasons, the air conditioning was not yet on, altho the weather was quite warm. The room was extremely warm (80 degrees) but if the windows to the balcony were opened it did cool down. (However, then the flies arrived... ).

Review 67:Beautiful wood-work in the spacious room, with a large balcony that had a fantastic view of the Val D'Aran. The restaurant had a panoramic view which was stunning, and the meal was very nice.

Review 68:Our thanks again to booking.com and the Parador as our stay was an event. The hotel was as a Parador is noted for and the location spectacular. Our special thanks to the front Desk personnel. Many thanks, Mary Lou Nelson and Doug Stewart.... room 319. Please help... We left and I forgot to leave a little something to the room service people who did a great job .... old age.... how could I send something on....Thanks, Doug.

Review 69:The restaurant staff is very poor with English...it was difficult to communicate. Language was not a problem at check-in, however.

Review 70:An absolutely beautiful hotel in the Pyrenees Mountains...absolutely stunning for any price, but a tremendous value. Clean, large and comfortable rooms. Huge, attractive dining room with a view that can't be matched!! If you get a chance, stay here!

Review 71:A Spa hotel that offers Spa with at extra cost for hotel guests ??!? and once paid - quite disappointing - the main attraction - outdoor "heated" pool and Jacuzzi you should be very brave to dip into (and yet it wasn't snowing...). Rooms and corridors outdated. in general - overrated, great potential but disappointing.

Review 72:Location and views. breakfast - good variety nicely presented.

Review 73:No wi-fi in rooms, only on the -1 and 0 floors. Hotel needs renovation, rooms are quite old and shabby, but still clean and comfortable. Quite far away, 30 min from Baqueira, so if planning to ski, chose another hotel. Nothing else apart from this, liked everything.

Review 74:Quite good location, not really far away from the city. Rooms are big and have very nice views. Breakfast and dinner is very good, good value for its price. Spa is very welcoming, very relaxing and cozy. Stuff is always friendly, very helpful and willing to do whatever you need. Big and free parking, which is a really big positive point for people with cars. Hotel itself is comfortable and user-friendly.

Review 75:The cleaning lady walked in twice without knocking. She just opened the door and walked in while we were sleeping, and later on while i was getting dressed. Very uncomfortable.

Review 76:The fact that the hotel is surrounded by a very busy road, which causes a lot of noise day and night. This is definitely not what one expects reading their info! Our mark does not exceed a 6.

Review 77:Nothing specially

Review 78:The photo shown on the website of the view for the double room with a balcony is misleading - only Junior suites have this view. The staff were going through the motions and doing the minimum necessary. They seemed used to receiving complaints, but were not interested in dealing with them. When we checked out the receptionist didn't ask us about our stay, merely told us how much was owed... while she was talking to a friend on the telephone via a headset. We had indicated that we wanted a double bed not a twin, but were given a twin. The hotel was not full, but we were unable to move to a room with a double. I had been looking forward to using the steam room briefly before dinner, but found out on arrival that the spa was not free to residents, as one would expect from a four star hotel, but actually a significant amount extra. The phone didn't work. Overall, although the facilities were good, we didn't really feel welcome.

Review 79:The room was very well appointed and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was pleasant.

Review 80:Toilett sets limited (gel, xampu). No complimentary water on the room.

Review 81:Location. The facilities are placed in a really wonderful area, scenery is awasome

Review 82:No kettle or facilities to make drinks in the room. Lack of car parking space (it was full when we arrived)

Review 83:Very comfortable beds, extremely clean. Great location - very easy for access to/from France/Spain. Fabulous setting.

Review 84:We arrived ibn the afternoon. The reception by the staff was cold andunfriendly. The information they gave us about the spa we discoveredlater on was inaccurate and caused us to regret plans we made. In allvery little enthusiasm or help from the reception staff. They seems tobe there as punishment - not pleasure. As we entered my wife wanted toleave and felt unwanted and intruding. This aspect for us was the mostdisappointing the certainly left a bad mark o our visit.

Review 85:The palce is lovely and comfortable. The spa is high quality and areal experience. The room is more than adequate and added a lot toour enjoyment

Review 86:The food was overpriced and not very good. Although the pool areawas very nice it does not mention anywhere that you have to pay touse the facilities. You also have to buy their swim caps and wearthem in the pool.

Review 87:Excellent location. Amazing views from our room. Very comfortable andluxurious bathroom.

Review 88:Featured Spa was 26 euros to visit which was not on any info packs ? andno wonder it was empty!

Review 89:Superb accommodation and good location.Everything you come to expectwith a Parador .Breakfast good but costs

Review 90:Need to drive to get into town. Hotel is on a busy road which is not suitable for walking.

Review 91:The location is superb with spectacular views to the south and west. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is excellent.

Review 92:Wi-Fi access points on our room's floor were not working. We had togo to lobby for Internet.

Review 93:Silence, and spacious rooms everywhere. Own parking. Fantastic view.Breakfast and food. Pretty much everything.

Review 94:We did not like the food in the restaurant (2 dinners, 1 lunch). And to go to Vielha you need a car.

Review 95:The Parador is cosy and comfortable, spectacular views, the staff were kind. The restaurant is beautiful with good service, but the food is not.

Review 96:signposting from main road could be improved, when approaching downhill visability of existing sign is very limited on a dangerous hill.

Review 97:location, restaurant excellent,

Review 98:The paid-for billiards tables were old at August 2012, but worked just about OK. The "air hockey" was broken. Although breakfast was very good indeed, it was expensive. Alternatives in Vielha town (but only after 9am) were very much cheaper and also good. The hotel is near the road to the Vielha tunnel which meant that the outside window/door had to be closed overnight to avoid being woken by traffic noise. We had to work hard to ensure that the discount for the child bed in the room was applied

Review 99:Superb room service, beautifully clean hotel, very comfortable beds and chairs, spacious rooms, wonderful views from balcony rooms up to mountains and along the Val d'Aran, but all rooms good. Showers, WiFi, outside swimming pool all simple and worked really well. Quiet location, except for lorries at times. Spa is extensive and excellent: it is a reasonable price if you go 11am-3pm only. Discounted extra bed for 13-17yr old children in your room is good: but discount varies by season and not all hotel staff were aware of the discount (it's on the 'Tarrifa' card in the room)

Review 100:The head waiter was very abrupt, I know we didnt look like the typical guests, 4 guys on motorcycles but our money is the same as everyone elses...

Review 101:have stayed here before as part of a motorcycle holiday, as before very clean and welcoming, outstanding views, very comfortable rooms in a great location.

Review 102:Entrance off the main road is awkward. Signage through the town of Vielha is poor.

Review 103:Locationabove the town and hotel design especially the dining room and lounges

Review 104:Needs an intermediate evening menu between meagre bar snack and fullrestaurant. The 18 Euro breakfast is a expensive if all you want is acoffee and croissant, so we did not partake. WiFi does not cover everyroom (as stated in Hotel details) so had to use public areas

Review 105:A very nice hotel.

Review 106:The hotel is not in the town of Vielha but above it (a short drive), if this is an issue.

Review 107:This Parador is on a hill above Vielha and it has wonderful views of the Val D'Aran. Expect high Parador standards - luxorious and comfortable rooms and a good restaurant. The big plus is the spa (indoor and outdoor) facility wich lets you swim and do the jacuzzi thing while enjoying the views.

Review 108:Located near motorway to Lleida. Very busy road with a lot of trucks , very noisy rooms. Can't sleep with open window due to noise from the road, although hotel is located in a very nice scenery. Nice buffet breakfast but horrible !!! food for lunch/dinner and very expensive.

Review 109:Friendly restaruant staff.

Review 110:WiFi signal in room not strong enough. No regular shuttle down to the village, or at least one you could book. I would recommend this facility if you have your own vehicle.

Review 111:Restaurant service was top notch. Staff was helpful. Place was quiet.

Review 112:For a new 4 star hotel there were some surprising features. The wooden floors although they look cosy, were noisy and we could hear the comings and goings of people above and next door. Worst of all was the noise of people using the toilet. The beds are hard and the pillows like bricks. We had looked at another Parador hotel which was 4 star, and it was luxury, with a lot of attention to style and comfort. I wish we had stayed there.

Review 113:The view from the room was spectacular. Right up the valley to the mountains. Even though it was raining in the afternoon it cleared by evening and the lights from the town with the snow capped mountains beyond was a magical scene. The next morning we awoke to snow drifting down. Very pretty. The food was surprisingly good, and breakfast a near banquet. The wait staff were most attentive.

Review 114:That we had to go home

Review 115:Firstly I would like to say that I do not understand any of the negativecomments given by any of the previous reviewers, they must have based iton another hotel or like to complain about anything? I was going tocancel my booking due to all the negative feedback which is so wrong. The hotel staff are very polite and courteous and felt their skills ofthe waiters, reception staff, room service staff was excellent. Theambience of the hotel is amazing, beautiful restaurant and lounge, witha huge fire in the middle and so many sofas to sit on, and waiters whowait on you. Our bedroom was huge and luxurious and had a stunning viewof Baquira in the distance. Its one of the best hotels we have everystayed at...stunning.

Review 116:Nothing.

Review 117:Great views from room, staff friendly and helpful. Did not use pool as weather was cool. Nice parador to visit.

Review 118:rooms a bit tired, air con did not work and no water in the pool

Review 119:the views

Review 120:We like spa very much

Review 121:Reception very poor and not very helpful.

Review 122:Room quiet and very clean. Beds in particular we're very clean and comfortable.

Review 123:Staff were a bit offish.

Review 124:One of the more modern Paradores. Very well equipped, maintained and good food.

Review 125:Prefer a softer bed and queen size bed.

Review 126:Fantastic dinning and bar area. Great food and awesome views.

Review 127:bed too hard, floors creeked and need redoing

Review 128:view and facilities

Review 129:No wifi in rooms

Review 130:Don't think there was!

Review 131:everything!

Review 132:Shower screen didn't open out and a very very very squeaky natural floor.

Review 133:Location and a room with a jaw dropping view (318)

Review 134:Reception inability to supply English speaking and lack of sensativity

Review 135:spa breakfast room view spa services

Review 136:Worth another 25 euro to enjoy the balcony and the view of a superior room. Dinner was very good at a reasonable price. Friendly staff

Review 137:Nothing to complain about.

Review 138:Very comfortable with excellent views. Staff very helpful and good food.

Review 139:Internet was poor! in the rooms there was no wifi price too high

Review 140:Great location. nice view
