Reviews for Hotel-Garni Drachenburg

Review 1:We asked for help and recommendations to the hotel to book the best restaurant for Christmas and the offered help only once there and the nicest places were all fully booked. The rest all very pleasant

Review 2:Location

Review 3:We were moving in the beautiful surrounding mountains daily, which made us sweat a lot. We would have appreciated laundry facilities to wash our clothes.

Review 4:We stayed at Drachenburg first time in July 2015. In September 2015 we came back. We rarely go to the same hotel again, so this was an exception. Why we did that exception? Because the hotel is great! The hotel is located on a slope, which gave us in our room an amazing view on the surrounding mountains and Mittenwald. The breakfast was rich and the staff was very friendly. Most of the guests were very kind elderly from around Germany, which made our stay even more comfortable and peaceful.

Review 5:The hotel is located on the mountainside with beautiful views. The town of Mittenwald is within 10 minutes walking distance and located to several walking paths for hiking enthusiasts of all levels.

Review 6:No complaints at all, but the steps down to town could prove tricky for the less mobile, the view, in my opinion is well worth it!

Review 7:Fantastic view of the town and surrounding mountains. Friendly, helpful staff. Spacious room.

Review 8:may be difficult to go down to the reception from parking if you have too much of luggage

Review 9:excellent location, very good staff, well ventilated rooms with a great view

Review 10:-abit far from the town from restaurants, 15min walk up/down the hill to restaurants, nevertheless it has a wonderful view which total compensate this!

Review 11:-excellent view, located on the hill, overlook the entire town -staffs are very nice and friendly -free onsite parking, very convenient -free wifi

Review 12:German internet is not so good and the hotels was also not so dependable.

Review 13:Very friendly and competent staff, all seem to be fluent in English. Amazing view from the hotel.

Review 14:A little remote from usual activities. Very tight and limited parking.

Review 15:Amazing views over the town. Most rooms had excellent views. Quiet and reserved and spotlessly clean, but wouldn't want to stay more than a day or two at the most. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff.

Review 16:Hotel-Garni Drachenburg is localted on a slope offering an excellent base locations especially for hikers as many of nice tracks start from near the hotel. The personnel is very friendly, the breakfast is great. If you are looking for a room with a nice (mountain or town) view you should consider a "comfort double room". If you only need a place to rest over a night, you will do fine in a "classic double room". We also liked the interior and design of the hotel's public facilities that made as feel like staying at a medieval castle. We would recommend this hotel for everyone.

Review 17:Stairs, two flights down from car park then two flights back up again to get to our room, wifi didn't work. Bed head was solid wood therefore very uncomfortable when sitting in bed reading.

Review 18:Lovely views, this hotel has the potential to be really nice but needs to serve meals in the evening as it is too far to walk into town.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Wonderful quiet location, just outside the village but within pleasant walking distance. Extremely clean, amazing view, very friendly and helpful owners (In fact, they were the parents of the owner and they were wonderful kind people, very helpful and welcoming). The Italian lady serving at the breakfast was very kind and smiling. I would definitely come back to this hotel in my next Mittenwald visit.

Review 21:We used our snow chains to get from the private road back into town. A bit inconvenient but still happy we stayed there. Great hiking nearby and the town is a 10 minute walk.

Review 22:Staff were super friendly. We arrived in a heavy snow and they helped push our car the last few meters into the lot. Views of the town and mountain were wonderful. Get the half board --the dinners were very tasty.

Review 23:This is our fourth time in Mittenwald. And I would say it was the best ever! The room was clean and very comfortable. The team are very welcome and helpful! Thank you Diana! Owner Lady is great , thank you! You made our holiday remarkable! We still plan to see you again in February. All the best!

Review 24:After a very long day bicycling, we were dismayed to see that a sign for the hotel pointed straight uphill. Of course, this is why it has such a magnificent view. (If you want a view from your room, ask for one; not all rooms have views.)

Review 25:We arrived late on our bicycles, and the owner's parents were expecting us and whisked our bicycles into a very nice bike pavilion, complete with pump and racks. We were starved, and they made a reservation for us at a restaurant at the foot of the hill, which turned out to be very good. Later we met their daughter the owner, who is very gregarious. The breakfast was excellent, and the place feels more like a B&B than a hotel.

Review 26:Check out time was at10. Also, there was nobody at the reception after 8 pm so if u have any request (e.g we needed hot water for some tea), make it brfore 8 pm.

Review 27:Great view and lovely rooms. Live the breakfast.

Review 28:It was a great place…just a bit on the expensive side….

Review 29:I enjoyed the location and the fact that the hotel was above the town. One has an unobstructed view of the mountain top…amazing. The breakfast was great and the room was very comfortable.

Review 30:The closure of the access road means a 250 metre vertical hike up a winding cobbled path. No fun with a wheelie suitcase! You need to travel light!

Review 31:beautiful location

Review 32:It is a difficult hotel to get to at this time because of road construction. We had to park our car in the village and walk up a very steep hill with luggage. I could not recommend this hotel at this time. We felt a discount should have been given to compensate us for the inconvenience.

Review 33:The breakfast was excellent.

Review 34:1. Access is potentially an issue, particularly for older people. From the car park, you have 50 steps to get down to the front door, and back up again when you want to leave. This was a bit hard going when we checked out and had to get our luggage back up to the car. We would like to visit Mittenwald again but may think about a more central hotel next time. 2. We had a particular problem since the road from the village to the hotel had been closed for repairs. We had to leave our car in the village and carry luggage up steep footpaths for 300 yards to get to the hotel. The only drivable route was along back roads for around 25km - a journey of about 45 minutes. This problem will go later in the summer when the road has been repaired.

Review 35:The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room (No.3) was very cool which was a bonus since temperatures during our stay were over 30 degreesC. Facilities were excellent. The breakfast was cold food only but varied and plenty of it - more than adequate. Views from the garden are spectacular

Review 36:we chose this hotel because of the beutiful views promised in its description, but this is not what we had in our room

Review 37:hotel, food and staff were very nice

Review 38:Bad noise isolation.

Review 39:Nice small village.

Review 40:Breakfast staff was a bit cold.

Review 41:Location and room!

Review 42:A little difficult to find.

Review 43:Amazing spot above mittenwald with amazing views.

Review 44:access to room is thru long stairs. Heavy bags no good!

Review 45:room is super clean

Review 46:No other food accept for breakfast. Its a long walk to town to get food

Review 47:Excellent view abd so clean

Review 48:A bit of a walk from town and the bed was a little hard.

Review 49:spectacular views from the courtyard, staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 50:Upgraded to a Suite at no extra cost. Friendly host. Superb view. Wonderful grounds

Review 51:Family helpful. Good location. Easy walk for restaurants.

Review 52:WiFi was unreliable the first night, better the second.

Review 53:Excellent, friendly staff. Great location above the town. Easy parking (road is open!).

Review 54:This was an out of the way hotel with magnificent views and very good beds - we both slept really well here. The breakfast was really excellent too.

Review 55:The View across Mittenwald towards the Karwendel mountains from our room Location was great for hikes

Review 56:you can"t drive to the place. You have to park a the bottom of the hill, walk up to check in ( no luggage, too steep ) get a parking voucher, walk back down put it in your car and then walk back up. If I knew this there is no way I would have stayed there. And from what I saw and heard from the other guest they wouldn't have either. Why wasn"t I notified??? Totally 100% unacceptable!!!

Review 57:nothing, in fact I want a refund.

Review 58:Mandatory 10 am checkout (at least we were told that we needed to leave by 10 am)

Review 59:Location was beautiful for views over Mittenwald, but it was a bit of a walk to the city center and nothing is in proximity of the hotel. This hotel is not for people who have walking disabilities. We felt rushed upon leaving (mandatory 10 am checkout that we were not informed about until 9.300 am) and would have liked to spent a bit more time there on the day of our departure (two days after Christmas). It was expensive compared to other locations in the city center but it was very clean, food was good, and there is a small spa area with limited opening hours.

Review 60:Helpful and caring staff and energetic owner. Lovely location with a great sense of cameraderie among guests who wished to spend time together! A wonderful place for a get-away...

Review 61:It seems there is a problem with the address so take care cause the GPS will bring you to a blind alley. After that, you'll have to start making questions and wandering around (specially if it is dark and your german is poor).

Review 62:The view from the hotel is probably the best asset although having a sauna is also good.

Review 63:Stephanie, who owns and manages The Pension Drachenberg has created an ideal small hotel surrounded by mountains overlooking the town of Mittenwald. The town itself is small, low scale and its exterior walls are covered with beautiful paintings. There's a great violin Museum. Especially on Saturday night many people wore their traditional clothes. Stephanie was very helpful making our 3 night stay very relaxing in a beautiful setting.

Review 64:Steep walk up

Review 65:The view from the the hotel was spectacular - it overlooked the city and had a great view of the mountains! A bonus was a clear view of the stars at night. Room was clean and well decorated. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 66:This hotel was very comfortable and clean, and the staff were very friendly and pleasant, and they recommended to us a great local place for dinner. The breakfast was also wonderful -- a variety of fruit, breads, yogurt, and eggs, and it was all beautifully prepared. Note that the hotel is down a narrow private road that appears to be limited to auto traffic. We were actually stopped by the police on our way out after checking out (with them asking us what we were doing on a private road), but they let us pass without incident when we told them we had stayed at the hotel.

Review 67:On booking.com is given only the address of the hotel and the GPS doesn`t help at all. The access by car is a little bit complicated and described only on the internet site of the hotel. I suggest inserting a notification for the new visitors.

Review 68:EVERYTHING

Review 69:The stunning, location, the excellent facilities and Stephanie's warm welcome.

Review 70:Very good view . Whole hotel clean and neat.

Review 71:wonderful views of the mountains, clean, well appointed, good breakfast, friendly host

Review 72:nothing bad to say.

Review 73:The view and service was amazing.
