Reviews for Hôtel Le Dauphin

Review 1:Quaint hotel in an interesting building! Although the room was small, it was adequate and the bathroom was spotless with loads of hot water. Private parking was a bonus and the breakfast was copious and good quality.

Review 2:Towels were fairly thin, need replacing No kettle provided although I know they were available -excuse was 'we have to be careful of the possibility of fire!'

Review 3:Position close to train station, centre and sea

Review 4:The bathroom was very small. The toilet was in front of the bath making it quite awkward to get in and out of the shower.

Review 5:The Ease in which we could walk to both the sea front and the town centre from the hotel. The west facing balcony on which to relax before going out for a meal.

Review 6:Room 405 no outlook except postage stamp area of sky. Lift to upper floor left a flight of stairs to negotiate, no fire escape or means of doing so just an inadequately short ladder locked to wall next to lift. Room very small, no extractor fan in bathroom and a shower head that wouldn't stay up.

Review 7:Very central and quiet

Review 8:Our room was so small that we could not open both suitcases at once. The hotel overall could do with a little bit of a refresh.

Review 9:Beautiful building in great location just a short stroll to the seafront and marina. Ample off-street parking and great free internet connection. Clean rooms.

Review 10:Breakfast room capacity insufficient when busy. Option to take a tray back to room or wait - attentive staff endured turns kept

Review 11:Lovely location and building. Pool looked good if weather had been right to use it

Review 12:When original booking was made I stated to children and two adults but when I arrived was told by reception the booking was for four adults last we didn't have adjoining rooms

Review 13:Location was very good near to the town centre and to the beach. Clean Pool l and rooms were clean

Review 14:The shower, it was powerful but sprayed everywhere except where it should, broken toilet seat. Tiny bathroom.

Review 15:Good location with free parking, good air conditioning.

Review 16:Food limited to breakfast It would have been nice to have a bar facility to enjoy a drink on the terrace.

Review 17:Short walk from railway station and close to beach.. Nice pool and very friendly staff. Hotel building was attractive. Very good breakfast.

Review 18:Besides the airco not working all was OK but no atmosphere or character. The building and website made me expect more. The hotel is run with a minimum of staf and has just a vending machine for sodas.

Review 19:The pool is nice size and clean. On business I would stay here again but maybe not for a holiday.

Review 20:Beautiful character hotel. Great quiet location. Near to beach and town centre 5 and 10 mins walk. Lovely clean room. Fantastic breakfast good choice and plants of it including masses of fresh fruit. Lovely pool.

Review 21:Many narrow stairs, difficult for people with walking impediments. Difficult to take luggage to the rooms. Small room and narrow bed.

Review 22:Nice location close to the centre of town. Good Internet.

Review 23:There supposed to be a safety box in the room and there was but it had no lock. When asking at the reception the lady suggested us to leave our valuables there for 3 EUR extra fee per day! If the shower had not worked should I pay extra to go and shower somewhere else ?!?!!. The room was quite small.

Review 24:Beautiful old house.Good location, nice pool and pool area. Free parking and easy to find. Clean room. The male at the reception was very nice.

Review 25:A very comfortable room (although a little small as is often the case with old buildings). The staff were helpful and Arcachon itself is lovely. We travelled with our labrador who was welcome.

Review 26:Quiet location. Lovely pool and seating area. Close to beach and town. Great, plentiful breakfast. Friendly staff. Good safe car parking. Fridge in room a bonus. Fabulous houses nearby. Easy to find.

Review 27:Location, availability of parking, good breakfast. Resolution of reservation problem once realised was an internal communication issue. Building with great character.

Review 28:THE VERY SMALL BEDROOM (408) THE WARDROBE IN THE BATHROOM. THIS SEEMED LIKE AN OLD OFFICE, WITH 7 ELECTRIC SOCKETS ON THE WALL. UTILISED AS A BEDROOM.

Review 29:CLEANNESS

Review 30:Small room and bathroom, old and worn off matress, very bad pillow, stained blanket. Old and ugly furniture and deco. I've slept in much better hotels for almost half the price. Reminded me of the eastern-european hotels in the nineteens, they are far better now.

Review 31:Close to the city, free parking area, good breakfast, helpful staff.

Review 32:Our room was small and uninviting and a strange, musty smell lingered. Furnishings were more akin to cheap kitchen units and we have never been in a hotel where the bedside lamps are glued down! It had been advertised as having a mini bar, but this was switched off and empty. A blanket on the bed was stained. The bathroom was dark and dingy. The steps into the back entrance were covered in pigeon droppings. This hotel proved to be a disappointing end to our holiday and we cannot understand how its three star rating has been achieved. We paid only a little less for a huge and beautifully appointed room, breakfast and a four course meal with wine in a 3 star hotel in Spain. Le Dauphin just can't compare.

Review 33:The location of the hotel was good for reaching the beach and restaurants. Parking was also easy and secure.

Review 34:The room, though comfortable was very cramped, as was the bathroom.

Review 35:The air conditioning was much appreciated. The lady running the breakfast room worked very hard, was very efficient and always had a smile. The receptionists too were very helpful and pleasant. The sitting space outside was very pleasant, considering this was a town hotel.

Review 36:Hotel seemed like a typical seaside boarding house. Some residents probably return there year after year expecting it to remain unchanged. They are probably not disappointed.

Review 37:Secure parking at hotel reasonably close to the sea front. 15 minute walk. Staff were helpful particularly when our motorbike was blocked in by some thoughtless cyclist residents.

Review 38:Configuration and location of the family room (5metres from reception) Limited on-site parking (had to park in adjacent road) Better value hotels in Arcachon

Review 39:Location - Close to beaches, Pyla dune and town centre restaurants

Review 40:The staff were so friendly and smiling all the time. The hotel was spotless, well decorated, well appointed and comfortable. We couldn't fault it and will look forward to returning.

Review 41:Air conditioning system was unclean and smelly. Thank goodness we had our own fan.

Review 42:It was a good location, room clean and nice little pool. Great breakfast.

Review 43:We had a suterrain double room which is meant for handicaped people. Suterrain meaning cave smell, almost no light, airconditioning like 30 years old. We should have a minibar but were told it has broke the day before and as replacement we can use the one for stuff behind reception. No price compensation. Breakfast expensive for the food variety, addionally the fruit was mouldy. Parking place not sufficient for all hotel guests. Dont recommend and will never ever return.

Review 44:Easy to find

Review 45:Unable to check in at 2pm as stated on booking.com. Receptionist told us website wrong & should say 3pm. She was quite helpful & we were able to have our room after a 20 min wait. Other staff on reception did't speak to us at all!

Review 46:Location good for beach & town. Bikes available for hire & good pool.

Review 47:The hotel is a bit dated and could use some updating, but that's largely just cosmetic. It was still comfortable and clean.

Review 48:Loved the pool! The staff was very nice and helpful. A nice walk down to the boardwalk and beach - not too close that it was loud from the crowds, but not too far to walk with small kids.

Review 49:The rooms are tiny with close to no comfort. The bathroom was small. The breakfast area was in the basement and not very nice. We stayed two extra days in Archachon but decided to move hotel. There are many hotels within the same pricerange and with better standard and service

Review 50:I booked a room for 3 adults and one child. The room was 2 levels and very narrow, the stair was very difficult and narrow. The room key was not working. No elevators at all and you have to carry your bags for three floors.

Review 51:The location is good and not far from the beach. The Internet service is free and unlimited.

Review 52:Rooms too small, furniture dated and beds uncomfortable.Shower head attached to wall at a height requiring us to almost crouch.Had booked for two nights - left after 1.

Review 53:Imposing hotel set in grounds with a good size swimming pool. Good breakfast. Accommodating staff who sorted a room change and the next day dealt with our earlier than intended departure.

Review 54:Pricey for a hotel far from beach not handicapped accessible. Rooms can only be accessed via stairs and double beds do not have showers, thin mattress. No restaurant or bar on site. Need to walk several blocks for food and drink. it would have been nice to have on site vending besides water and soda.

Review 55:Desk staff very helpful. Cleanliness of rooms and housekeeping excellent.

Review 56:Cons: - The hotel looks amazing outside so we were a bit disappointed by room facilities that haven’t been renovated for a long time. - I would say that comfort/ratio is far from optimal. Actually there is nothing special in this hotel except good looking from outside.

Review 57:Me and 2 friends of mine were traveling by bikes from Paris to Bordeaux. That was one of the few hotels providing a room for 3 adult persons with 3 separate beds. Pros: - Good English communication skills of a staff. They are quite friendly and helpful. - Location. Not very far from city center with restaurants

Review 116:It`s situation to the town .....not too close to the centre and quiet.

Review 117:No bar and Resteraunt

Review 118:Arcachon

Review 119:You cannot get a coffee and no facility to make one. When i asked a member of staff after we had arrived after travelling for nearly 5 hours i was told there was only her so they dont make coffee. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in and the worst

Review 120:It looks lovely from the outside and good location

Review 121:This is a very pleasant hotel with good facilities. The staff were friendly and the room comfortable, with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was good, with a wide choice. The hotel is easy to find, has good secure parking and is nicely situated on quite streets but within an easy walk of the centre of Arcachon. It has a good sized pool and offers rental of some nice bikes, which we enjoyed!

Review 122:Had paid extra for double deluxe/superior room, but really it justabout met what I would have have thought minimum requirements re bedsize and room size for a standard room. 'Garden view' wasbasically a view of the side of the property...so also not really worththe extra money. Breakfast was pricey at 10 euros each for a fairlybasic continental buffet.Overall seemed expensive for what youget....but then you are in a prime location in a busy upmarket resort.

Review 123:Very friendly staff who spoke very good English if it was needed (apartfrom night staff). Made to feel welcome. Room was very clean, and hadnice touches such as fridge, drinks and some nibbles.

Review 124:Good clean rooms, perfect for our overnight stay. Breakfast very good, excellent choice of things to eat. Would certainly stay again, close to all amenities and the sea.
