Reviews for Agroturismo Son Galceran

Review 1:Lovely people who put real effort into ensuring you have a good stay. Just beware there is no bar service in the evening. Only 5 min From esporles village anyway

Review 2:Perhaps more non-meaty and fishy dishes for breakfast.

Review 3:Excellent location and beautiful hotel. Esporles is a great location for walking. It would have been good if the hotel had promoted the walks in the area.

Review 4:Bed squeaked every time one of us moved in bed. Safe key broke in the lock, which staff fixed without a fuss, but did limit us for 36 hours. Fortunately it wasn't when we were due to leave. Best be gentle!

Review 5:Beautiful breakfast terrace and a great breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.

Review 6:The onsite bar was rather overpriced. Our room had only one small window so very little natural light.

Review 7:Swimming pool was awesome - so serene and stunning views! Very comfy sunloungers. The breakfast was also incredible, don't miss the fresh orange juice!

Review 8:Would have been a perfect base for sports activities if the breakfast could start a bit earlier. The things we did all started at 9:00 and then we had to eat breakfast in 10 minutes to be in time. To ask for earlier breakfast was accepted by 15 min but frown upon. The hotel web page talks about all sorts of places to visit but once in the hotel they don't seem to know anything: no map of Esplores, no restaurant recommendations, where to find mountain walks etc - you need to find out for yourself. We had a mountain view yes, but from a lower floor terrace being part of the parking lot.

Review 9:Excellent location near mountains, sea and Palma but still next to the genuine village Esplores. Quite and beatiful property with well refurbished houses. Breakfast and pool in lovely surroundings.

Review 10:We stayed for 7 nights, 6 of which were spent in rooms that were not good at all. The rooms in the hotel are lovely, where we spent 1 night, only because we were so unhappy with the standard of the room we were given & a room was available in the hotel. The price difference in the rooms does not reflect the different standards. Less than a hundred pounds a week to stay in the hotel, which was far superior to the small, badly located, furnished, damp & uninviting rooms given to us in the grounds. We woke after our first sleepless night with multiple bites ( I had 80 in total ) from mosquitoes.

Review 11:Breakfast was good. Pool area was pleasant.

Review 12:Pool dirty at times, although not in their control traffic very noisy.Esporles itself, lack of good restaurants will hold back tourist development.

Review 13:room excellent,very clean,breakfast very good.

Review 14:You can hear most of the sounds from one apartment to another Staff Rooms are nothing special for the paid value Breakfast is almost a joke, not only it's nothing special but it is not tasty

Review 15:Swimming Pool is in a nice location with a nice view Easy to reach It is very close to important areas like Robert Graves's house and Chaupin's residence

Review 16:There is no possibility to have lunch or dinner in the hotel, had to walk the walk in the restaurant 15 minutes.

Review 17:The hotel is fantastic, a small, cozy. Very quiet and peaceful place. Small swimming pool with mountain views. Excellent breakfasts.

Review 18:Hard to find something to not like. It would have been great to have had a restaurant on site but I understand that there may just not be the demand to make this viable.

Review 19:Its a super spot for a relaxing break with easy transport links to get to Palma (30 mins) and to the coastal resorts of Essellencs (30 mins). Hard to find fault - just go!

Review 20:Would have better with an on-site restaurant

Review 21:Fabulous room and balcony in Superior Room No.3. Air-con was much appreciated during the heat wave. Pool and beds were very relaxing.

Review 22:HAD A PROBLEM WITH SHOWER WHICH WAS NOT FIXED DURING OUR 3 NIGHT STAY

Review 23:THE SETTING SUPERB A RESTAURANT ON SITE WOULD BE THE CHERRY ON THE CAKE BREAKFAST EVERYTHING YOU COULD WISH FOR

Review 24:We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of April. Our hosts were charming, helpful and could not have been nicer. The accommodation far exceeded our expectations and was immaculately clean, the breakfast was to die for , so many choices of wonderful fresh food including their own grown oranges and fruit. Lovely touch was the basket of oranges outside our room but best of all was the heady aroma of orange and lemon blossom in the morning sun - heaven!

Review 25:Excellent petit déjeuner, village pitoresque avec restaurants tout près et serviettes à disposition pour la piscine, plus oranges et citrons frais à disposition.

Review 26:Cannot think of anything I did not like.

Review 27:Location and views were great. It was easy to walk into the town to choose somewhere to eat in the evening. It had street lights all the way even on the drive. The fresh free oranges were fantastic. People were helpful and friendly.

Review 28:except the one latin waiter all the staff seemed to be quite unfriendly. we booked the hotel due to its 4 stars and because they told us by phone that all the rooms would be nice and had a view. in fact, what we've got was a dark small smelly room facing the parking lot furnished in the cheapest and most ugly way. what's the point in having a nice main buildinh but sheltering your guests in an ugly smelly hut with the most uncomfortable beds ever? never again!

Review 29:breakfest was good

Review 30:Nothing

Review 31:Beautiful location surrounded by groves, attentive staff 24/7, amazing breakfast (second to none!), fantastic pool and beautiful hotel. Only 5 minutes walk from the town too!

Review 32:Well there's no facility for evening meal and we failed to find what we consider a good restaurant in the local village. But with the car it wasn't a problem.

Review 33:Lovely setting with mountain views. Very relaxing holiday. Best to have a car unless you just want to read and chill. Friendly staff with outstanding breakfast. Our room in the main house was very large with an adjoining massive bathroom. Our second visit and may well go again!

Review 34:odd decor: recently renovated but not to everyone's taste, certainly not ours.

Review 35:large room large bathroom good breakfast reasonable price friendly staff

Review 36:the ants and bugs generally, which you cant avoid in the south

Review 37:not too touristy, calm, nice pool area, great breakfast, beautiful hotel, cute donkeys next to hotel

Review 38:This place is very clean and is quiet. Far enough from Palma to relax, at the same time very close ( every dinner we had in Palma that is 15 min drive) Staff very helpful. What I liked the most is the fact that we were at the swimming pool almost alone!

Review 39:We were given a "mountain view" room; yes, you could see the mountains, but mainly the view of the car park, hence our extreme disappointment. Our room was clearly for disabled clients, and certainly clean and modern. Had we been given a different room, we would not have had a negative first impression.

Review 40:First impressions of our room were very negative (see dislikes) and we tried to find any other place to stay. By nights 2 and 3 our opinions changed, as the location was very good - a short walk to Esporles town and cafes/restaurants. The hotel was very clean and the breakfasts excellent. Pool looked nice although we didn't use it. Bathroom and amenity pack was excellent; beds very comfortable and TV good.

Review 41:Mosquitoes were a bit of a problem for me and it would have been nice to have been forewarned about them.

Review 42:The place was not too big and there was a mixture of guests. The location was good - easy to get to other places - and we liked Esporles which was within easy reach for food although parking was not always easy. Walking was not manageable for my elderly husband but I believe other middling aged guests and younger did walk into town to eat of an evening. Another reason for liking Esporles was that it was not overrun with tourists. The Serra Tramuntana is stunning and the drive from Palma was easy and manageable. The staff were consistently very helpful.

Review 43:Any negatives would be petty and unimportant.

Review 44:Stunning location, within walking distance of village with several places to eat, sit out in the evening with lovely glass of wine and savour the real Mallorca. Within travelling distance of the stunning Mallorcan coast but away from hoards of tourists. Friendly, helpful staff. Fabulous rooms with huge terraces overlooking the mountains. Peaceful and relaxing, often had the pool to ourselves. Fantastic, freshly made breakfasts - all you could want, we definitely hope to be back.

Review 45:Nothing, everything was perfect!

Review 46:The whole experience was fabulous! The staff are so friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is simply stunning, rooms are beautifully decorated, the breakfast each morning was amazing and the surroundings were just breathtaking!!! Can't wait to go back, loved every minute!

Review 47:After having been in 6 'rural hotels' rated 4-5 stars over the last two years in Mallorca, here we certainly found the lowest relation quality-price. Poor gardening almost non existant. Weird 'kitsch' decoration in the main building won't cater all tastes. Beds were soft and bad despite they did not look too old; again, they put two single beds together although this is something quite common in hotels in Mallorca. Food quality in breakfasts was only average to low - as an example, oil bottles were filled with very cheap oil while so many good oils can be found in the country!- . We were given a hardly 25 sqm room, including balcony, in the main building, while Booking description stated a 45 sqm room. I got up with10-15 bug bites in arms, legs, neck and face; I looked for evidence of bugs in linen and mattress but I could not find any.

Review 48:Swimming pool. Renewed installations. Silence at night despite closeness to the main road and the village.

Review 49:Twin-beds not ideal when traveling as a couple, although the beds were of good quality. I wouldn't recommend the swimming pool for young children: there is no protection on one side and the gap under is like 2 or 3 meters high. It makes the view wonderful but not very safe for children. That being said, it would be a pity to have a fence there.. You can't have everything.

Review 50:The location is wonderful, very quiet, spacious, nice flowers and trees, the view from the pool is very nice. Staff was very friendly. Esporles is also a nice place to be, small but great surroundings easily reachable by car. We loved it.

Review 51:Only negative - which is probably my fault....its not as rural as it looks but the easy walk to town was actually good with a little one. Its on the outskirts of town. My husband just didn't like the noise from the road (its very minimal didn't bother me).

Review 52:Everything is excellent really good hotel.

Review 53:nice atmosphere very helpful staff small, friendly family run hotel

Review 54:Just a shame there was no restaurant.

Review 55:The whole ambience of the place.

Review 56:The breakfasts were excellent, especially so as we could sit outside on the lovely terrace.

Review 57:The beautiful setting. The gorgeous pool. The high quality breakfast

Review 58:No tea of coffee facilities in the room

Review 59:Staff were excellent, very accommodating

Review 60:Sometimes rather noisy, as there is no any echo isolation. Room cleaning takes place very early.

Review 61:Would have enjoyed food being available on site in the evenings

Review 62:Beautiful mountain views

Review 63:Pool area needs better shade

Review 64:The superb style of the house The Breakfast! Nice Pool Help yourself oranges - nice touch

Review 65:Very pleasant athmosphere, Helpful staff above the expected.

Review 66:nothing! all is fine

Review 67:everything! the location is fantastic, relaxing, simply awesome!

Review 68:nothing

Review 69:Amazing place - quietness and a great retreat away from the bustle of the tourist towns.

Review 70:My bed was a little hard but my husband said his was fine . There are no tea and coffee facilities but we took our own kettle etc so we were fine. You need a car as you are up in the mountains and if you want to get out and about to you need transport.

Review 71:The breakfast choice was excellent and well presented. The hotel inside was very impressive with the ornaments and 0marble we were told the hystory of the building by the lovely staff who made us so very welcome. We stayed in room 5 which was in a seperate annex. It had a huge balcony with sunbeds and table and chairs and the most amazing view over to the mountains we could hear the goat bells. We went for a relaxing holiday and that was just what we had There was a small fridge in the room so we could buy fresh milk for our drinks and it kept well in there. We had a huge bathroom with bath and shower which was really powerful and lovely hot water. The village has a wonderful bakers and a fantastic pizza restaurant with really friendly staff and fantastic food and the spa store are very friendly too

Review 72:Beautiful location in small village. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast with orange juice from the owners orange grove. Swimming pool with nice view over the garden. Quiet and peaceful.

Review 73:We were put in a twin room and when asked to be tranferred to a double (since it was our honeymoon) we were charged an extra 400 euros.

Review 74:The breakfast buffet was really good.

Review 75:A fairly limited choice of places to eat in Esporles.

Review 76:Lovely garden and pool in peaceful location with great views of the mountains. Our room was spacious and very nicely furnished and we had an excellent cooked breakfast made to order. The owners were very friendly.

Review 77:Beautiful rural location, drove up the drive past fields of orange trees. View from our room across to the mountains was wonderful and so peaceful, and there was a lovely little terrace to sit out on. Swimming pool in gorgeous location on the hillside with cacti and palm trees in the foreground looking over to the mountains. The hotel was immaculate, decorated in a traditional style, with lots of classy ornaments and beautiful highly polished floors. The breakfast was amazing, there was so much choice, I even had a delicious tarte tatin for breakfast one morning, and there was a basket of oranges and lemons by the reception door which guests could help themselves to - I think they were the juiciest oranges I have ever tasted. Tesco oranges will never seem the same again! It was a perfect retreat from modern life.

Review 78:There was nothing bad to report

Review 79:Without doubt this is Spanish `agroturismo` at its finest. A superb traditional style hotel set in lovely rural Esporles, known for what is probably the islands finest olive oil. Their breakfast is superb with both hot and cold dishes available. Son Galceran is also perfectly located for exploring the finer parts of Mallorca of which there are many. Can thoroughly recommend it.

Review 80:There was nothing I can complain about.

Review 81:I liked the surroundings and the atmosphere. I liked also the breakfast witch I found very delightful. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay at your hotel.

Review 82:Absolutely fabulous break. The grounds were spectacular, overlooking orange groves and the adjacent mountains. The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were modern and very clean. With a location in the lovely town of Esporles, access to the mountains was just minutes away.

Review 83:Perhaps tea and coffee making equipment in the room's?

Review 84:Lovely location, superior room was outstanding. We went to relax and thats what we achieved. Pool looks great but be aware it's very cool at best. Manageable if a strong swimmer. Breakfast would be hard to beat. I give it 5* overall. A classy break....

Review 85:Felt a bit inpersonal - and Esporles was not really our favourite destination on the trip.

Review 86:Very nice room with big balcony. Excellent breakfast. Nice pool area.

Review 87:Only one downside - the lack of possibilities for dinner. The restaurants in Esporles are not to be recommended in general - pricey and limited choice of foods.

Review 88:Perfectly situated, relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff. Even the breakfast was superb. Can highly recommend this place to people looking for a quiet retreat.

Review 89:If there was anything they could change it's the cleaning detergent - I felt it had a disturbing lingering smell. Although this is a lovely place I must say that I also stayed in hotels with swimming pool in the area for the same price, so not sure about the value for money for a simple B&B.

Review 90:The family running the place is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is really cosy and I loved the meals in the courtyard - so romantic.

Review 91:Nothing!

Review 92:Loved it! If you would like a place to relax and unwind - this is it. Its small, easy going and run by lovely owners who were always cheerful. Breakfast was splendid, fresh orange juice, great service from the staff. Lovely pool area - never too crowded. Spacious comfortable room with AC with either a balcony or terrace. The little town of Esporles is lovely and unpretentious with a couple of restaurants and bars. Easy connection to Palma and the airport by bus. I highly recommend it.

Review 93:Could have been a bit more shade around the pool area, it's too hot to lie in the sun all afternoon.

Review 94:Beautiful big room with plenty of light with the shutters open, but also nice and dark for a sleep-in if desired. Huge king size bed (not two beds joined together), large terrace with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The pool area was lovely, nice and quiet to enjoy a good book and an afternoon nap.

Review 95:There was nothing we didn't like!

Review 96:The setting is truly amazing-nestled at the base of the mountains with stunning views. Nothing is too much for the proprietors. The hotel is very quiet-don't be too surprised if you find the pool to yourself. It's one of the most relaxing places we have stayed in a long time!

Review 97:Everything! The owners/managers could not have been more welcoming or friendly and we were very impressed with the breakfast setup out on the terrace. One of the best places I have stayed and we will be back.

Review 98:Our suite was very cold on our arrival 28th April due to heavy rain& the low temperatures - the marble bathroom in particular! A shameno evening meals were available, because Esporles from Sun-Mon lackedgood places to eat. Some were closed & it didn't seemparticularly tourist friendly.

Review 99:The hotel is beautifully fitted out & the outside surrounds -garden, patios & pool are attractive. Breakfasts with waiterservice were really excellent. Not too far from Palma & in sunshineit's lovely!

Review 100:Nothing negative to say

Review 101:Beautiful, quiet setting with easy access to local attractions.

Review 102:Everything about the place was lovely and the breakfast was amazing!

Review 103:Location, quality of accommodation & friendliness of staff

Review 104:We appreciated the excellent breakfast.

Review 105:The town has few dining options.

Review 106:The staff and facilities were excellent. Breakfast was a plus.

Review 107:Swimming pool is lovely. Friendly staff and very helpful. Great breakfasts

Review 108:Superb experience, the staff couldn't be friendlier and more helpful, one of the best breakfasts I have ever had.

Review 109:Liked everything.

Review 110:Beautiful place. Fantastic location. Very nice staff. Small. Very nice place.

Review 111:Slightly musty smell in room - not properly aired before use

Review 112:Room sizes, bathroom and food quality

Review 113:The location...peaceful and relaxing but close to the village of Esporles which has plenty of nice places to eat and drink.

Review 114:Beautiful place, great care for detail, clean and friendly. The orange juice came from the property and was the best ever.
