Reviews for Pamplona Catedral Hotel

Review 1:It is more like a 3 star hotel. The bed was very uncomfortable and you could hear everything from the other rooms. The location is good but the interior design is a bit tacky. The staff was nice

Review 2:Restaurant was closed on Monday evenings which was a shame,

Review 3:Central location in heart of old city with on site parking. Helpfulness of staff. Very comfortable room and bed. Close to city walls so good for dog walks.

Review 4:Being allocated an inferior room very much unworthy of a four star hotel, and having to complain in order to be moved for the following two nights. The inferior room was subsequently charged at the same rate as the average room we were moved to.

Review 5:Breakfast was quite good, if expensive.

Review 6:No one advised us till we booked in, that there was building works going on directly underneath the whole of the second floor. We were directly above. The work continued until 7pm and started again the following morning at 8am. (very annoying as they were using Kango hammers and scared our animals) the room had a dismal view as well. Not a place we would go back to!

Review 7:Good location

Review 8:The Hotel is currently having some renovations, whilst this didn't impact on us for an overnight stay other guests may be disturbed by noise from the works if their stay is longer.

Review 9:Large comfortable room in the old walled city. Staff very helpful and a good choice for breakfast.

Review 10:It was impossible to find ,I asked the police for help & they were brilliant & I then had a police escort

Review 11:The hotel was excellent .Very clean ,good & friendly staff.Good location

Review 12:Room doors need peep holes and dead bolts for added security. Printed materials in room caution about protecting yourself and belongings, so I was very surprised the rooms lacked these 2 important features.

Review 13:Location was great. Staff was very helpful and spoke English, which helps compensate for my horrible Spanish.

Review 14:A real luxury stop after spending 3 days and 50 miles plus on the Camino Way. After arriving in a thunderstorm the large and hot bath were very welcome. Rooms were lovely and toasty and we was only 5 minute walk into the main part of town. We was also only 15 minutes from the bus station for our trip back to Biarritz the next day

Review 15:It was a great hotel. Loved the location. I believe it was family operated, all of them very warm and helpful. A nice stop while walking The Camino with friends.

Review 16:Wifi so bad as to be useless. Even in the lobby I couldn't upload a photo. Breakfast expensive - went into town. Hotel is on edge of the old town on the opposite side to the bus and train stations.

Review 17:Very helpful staff. Very nice view. Slept well.

Review 18:We .went to Pamplona as tourists, not pilgrims. Therefore, we werestartled to find the twin-bedded room rather monastic - apart from thebeds, the only furniture in the room was a very basic table and one hardchair. A metal rack was provided to hang a few clothes. We could notunderstand how the hotel had been awarded 4 stars.

Review 19:The restaurant (both for breakfast and for dinner) was the best aspectof the hotel. The location was good although we (and other guests whocommented on it) discovered the hotel impossible to find! One coupleeven stopped a police car to help locate it!

Review 20:The hotel is a beautiful historic building. We arrived by taxi from the train station: The drive up the hill in the evening and through an old city gate to the hotel entrance was magical, and the first glimpse of the hotel promised - and did not disappoint - that we would have a glorious experience staying there. We walked throughout the historic area during our two-day stay and found the hotel location to be perfectly located. The dining room is gorgeous, and the food is splendid! We had dinner there all three nights of our stay. Anyone who wants a gourmet meal in Pamplona should not miss it! The breakfast buffet is served downstairs, next to an lovely outside terrace, but weather did not permit our use of the terrace. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the view while enjoying our breakfast (usual Spanish breakfast offerings; good quality). Our room looked down on the breakfast terrace and had a wonderful long-distance view which made up for the smallish size of the room. The latter would be the only thing we might quibble about, but we really have no complaint - just much praise for the hotel and many happy memories.

Review 21:The hotel changed its name a year or so ago and the new name does not feature on the GPS system. Old name was Puerto de la Camino. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed as it had been Spanish National day the day before.

Review 22:Central position of the hotel, perfect for exploring Pamplona and all its bars and restaurants. Magnificent building, the breakfast room is spectacular. Secure parking. Friendly helpful staff.

Review 23:Nothing at all

Review 24:Great location very close to Carhedral, yet very quiet. Very comfortable and big beds. Staff was extraordinarily helpful! Would highly recommend staying here when visiting Pamplona!

Review 25:No bad experiences at all

Review 26:I thought the lady that checked us in was very pleasant, plus we received an unexpected upgrade. - thank you !! It's a lovely well appointed Hotel, with many restaurants and bars nearby. A nice clean rooms with excellent facilities.

Review 27:Hotel Restaurant closed on Sunday and Monday evening

Review 28:Located in the Old town, walking distance to places of interest, tapas bars and restaurants Hotel restaurant serves v.g food at reasonable prices, wine also not overpriced

Review 29:Staff was not friendly at all and the room had the noisiest air conditioning that did not cool. FYI: Skip the food at their "convent" restaurant.

Review 30:Liked the location.

Review 31:Finding hotel in 'old' Pamplona is a challenge - needs detailed map to tackle one-way and pedestrian streets - but, once found - excellent!

Review 32:Location; valet parking; room very clean and efficient with air con; breakfast choices

Review 33:Second visit and still unable to try the restaurant as closed yet again. The bar was closed also, as floor was being painted. We were not informed about this, either prior or on arrival, but had to ask. There was no apology or attempt to provide these facilities which were part of the reason why we booked.

Review 34:Excellent location with parking and also dog friendly. Good standard of room and breakfast. Receptionists spoke English.

Review 35:Unfortunately our visit was on a Sunday and the restaurant was closed.

Review 36:A great setting within easy reach of bars, restaurants, shops. A lovely hotel interestingly decorated and furnished.

Review 37:Uncomfortable hot room, too small, directly overlooked by apartment windows 20 feet across street. A real mess up with motorcycle parking where they let a large tour group block us in so I had to sort it all out and was then the bad guy as 2 dozen hot tired riders needed to move to let us get out in the morning.

Review 38:Near Pamplona old city

Review 39:We didn't have a bad experience but the directions for driving to the hotel could be a bit better. Other than that 10 out of 10.

Review 40:The room was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable. It has a carpark too which was good for us. The staff were very helpful and polite.

Review 41:Bit of noise from a wedding one night.

Review 42:We were treated to a room upgrade on our first stay. Hotel stored our cases whilst we walked a section of the Camino. The hotel is located close to all the bars and restaurants of the old town but far enough away to be quiet.

Review 43:Ugly decoration! Amazingly tasteless and business like decoration for an old building. Carpet is due a replacement.

Review 44:Good location! Quiet even though close to an area with busy nightlife of Pamplona.

Review 45:The doors in this hotel seem to slam a bit & the noise wakes us up. Don't know what they can do to alleviate the problem.

Review 46:Lovely staff on arrival gave us room upgrade free and valet car parking.

Review 47:Bedroom quite small, wifi intermittant, hotel interior in need of a facelift. Our room was close to fire escape stairs which seemed to be in the middle of building repairs. Roads up to hotel very narrow.

Review 48:The hotel was very central, with a fabulous restaurant. It offers great value for money. Pet friendly.

Review 49:None I couldn't work out how to open wooden sunblinds on the window ))

Review 50:Perfect location, we came for a weekend and it was very nice to wander the streets of the old town. Great ancient hotel, all facilities, very helpful and cheerful staff, I would stay here again for sure!

Review 51:It is extremely difficult to find the hotel and get around the one way systems. The hotel is in the old town but you have to walk through a couple of undesirable streets to get to it. I wouldn't be happy to do it as a female tourist on my own at night. The hotel itself is not particularly special, the rooms are small and bland. Our safe didn't work in two rooms so we had to move rooms twice, then the sink was leaking. We shortened our stay here and moved on.

Review 52:The free parking with the hotel was really useful. The rooms are clean and functional.

Review 53:WiFi was a bit not the best, I could not always get a connection

Review 54:The location was great, very near centre, but also quiet. Rooms were bright and clean. Reception were very helpful

Review 55:Would have helped for prior detailed instructions as to how to drive to hotel. Very difficult via a tiny road not on our map!

Review 56:Fabulous vistas from bedroom, the restaurant in the chapel is Michelin star quality! Excellent location in old city

Review 57:The restaurant and bar were closed so there was nowhere to get even a cup of tea. Luckily there are lots of cafe's near by.

Review 58:Fantastic location right in the old city with parking.

Review 59:Exceptionally clean comfortable accommodation. Very helpful staff. Could not fault it I any way. Pamplona is a beautiful city and we spent s lovely evening at the Iruna Cafe.

Review 60:The hotel is located in a beautiful building and our room had fantastic views over Pamplona. From the start the staff were extremely helpful. We appreciated the secure parking for our motorbike. I will definitely stay here again and can not recommend it highly enough.

Review 61:Breakfast is a buffet which costs €13 more per person whatever you get. I had only a few things, my wife had just a bowl of cereal and it came up on the bill as €13 each. But we did say that's all we had and were only charged for one :)

Review 62:Very comfy room and bed. We were on our honeymoon and the very friendly staff upgraded us. Hotel is very convenient for seeing Pamplona which is a lovely city.

Review 63:Fantastic position on the quiet end of the old town. Very close to everything. Staff were very helpful and dinner I. The Chapel restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent.

Review 64:Loved this hotel and wish we could have stayed longer. Great location - right in the middle of the old walled town. Lovely old building teamed perfectly with contemporary styling. Staff very helpful and good value.

Review 65:Nothing. The price of breakfast fits the qualitity of the hotel, but a little bit too much for us. Near the marketplace in front is a very lovely cafeteria.

Review 66:Everything. This was our second visit. We knew what we could expect. Perfect.

Review 67:Extremely difficult to find as there were roadworks outside the hotel parking area. It took us an hour to find another way in (a fiesta meant some roads were closed off) and in The end I went by foot and Reception arranged for someone to go and collect my husband in the car. Other people were having the same trouble.

Review 68:The location was good. The room was nice although a little small and the decor in the restaurant was fabulous.

Review 69:No problems with anything at this hotel

Review 70:The hotel was very central and as a result in a tight one way system was difficult to find! Don't trust SatNavs. Car parking was on site for an extra €10. Spacious room and good room facilities.

Review 71:The air conditioning was extremely noisy! We turned ours off and opened the window, the street noise was preferable to the sound of the unit turning on and off all night.

Review 72:Centrally located hotel within 3adu walking distance of all attractions and bars and restaurants.

Review 73:It's quite expensive and they were fixing some stuff so we didn't have warm water for half a day.

Review 74:The location, the building itself and the restaurant chapel.

Review 75:Very difficult to find with car due to roadworks, arriving late at night could prove to be a nightmare due to locals blocking all roads around hotel.

Review 76:The hotel, staff and location were excellent. Breakfast was superb with something for everybody. Would recommend anybody to visit this hotel.

Review 77:Small room, non-insulated windows did not allow to keep the noice from the backyard bar/restaurant out of your room.

Review 78:The location is really good. The valet parking is pretty convenient.

Review 79:We booked last minute or at least 40 minutes before arriving. The staff as before were excellent the rooms as always clean, the location perfect. Value for money - I would say just about right. Thanks

Review 80:In room wifi could be more reliable, having stayed twice before still not any better

Review 81:Quality of accommodation, great location and very helpful staff to make very enjoyable stay

Review 82:On arrival at 5pm unable to get a drink and staff were extremely unhelpful. next morning same thing cafe closed. 16Euros to park motorbike in an empty garage that whilst secure is down a steep cobbled road, the garafe floor is Shiney broken tiles and covered in thin layer of sand. BIKERS AVOID THIS HOTEL.

Review 83:Location

Review 84:nothing bad. The rooms are a little below the level of other similarly priced hotels. The underground garage is in a poor state of repair, but does the job if you need to park out of the rain( motorbike).

Review 85:Good location close to the action but still very quiet.

Review 86:This hotel is very well situated, within 5 nins walk of most of the old centre. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the staff arehelpful and efficient. If arriving by car the access is a bit tricky m- it involves finding a small lane that comes up from the river and passes through the north gate in the old city wall.

Review 87:Not keen on the new area for breakfast, although I did see groups being taken through to the original room. Also I used to enjoy breakfast here but this time I was disappointed. Very little "hot" food and what was there was not good. I used to enjoy the pastries but they were stale with a strange taste. Would not bother again with breakfast.

Review 88:Room still clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and speak English.

Review 89:Trying to find the hotel is difficult due to city driving restrictions. You have to go out and around the old city walls and approach the hotel from the back, up the hill and through the old city gate. It is worth it though, Good luck!

Review 90:Everythiing about this hotel is of quality. Our room (we were given a choice of two) looked out over the old city walls and had five windows! Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Parking for the hotel on site.

Review 91:Car park entrance is a bit precarious for a low car!

Review 92:Dramatic entrance up a cobbled drive and under old stone archways. Great central location, lovely building, restaurant and breakfast room decorated with style.

Review 93:Noise..had to complain at 22'30 had been promised it would stop at 20'30 Breakfast very expensive for a Continental breakfast.

Review 94:Location and staff friendliness.

Review 95:Rude staff at breakfast, the quality was poor, had food sitting from very early in morning and bacon ran out and replaced begrudgingly with flabby fatty streaky.

Review 96:Two weddings booked, therefore no bar or restaurant facilities available. In fact nothing available as it was all for the weddings. The noise at night was horrendous, no sleep whatsoever and most of the guests of the weddings had booked the hotel. Disco and kareoke until 5am. Fortunately the staff on reception were kind and friendly and we did not have to pay.

Review 97:Nothing really.

Review 98:Cobbled, steep streets on approach to hotel, (travelling on motorbike). OK once there.

Review 99:Friendly, helpful staff. Good location for old part of town. Secure off road parking. Modern comfortable rooms.

Review 100:Pamplona!

Review 101:This is a modern hotel in a perfect location in an extremely busy town! Staff couldn't do enough. If you want to visit Pamplona by car this is the place.

Review 102:Everything, when we were driving there we thought we had gone wrong, driving up cobbled streets under archways, wow. Room was fabulous and the staff were so friendly and helpful,

Review 103:Private functionin in hotel restaurant meant we had to eat elsewhere.

Review 104:Superb parking facilities. Bustling and exciting atmosphere throughout the old town with plenty of variety of bars and eating places.

Review 105:The hotel hosted a party that continued with great revelry until 3:15AM making it impossible to sleep. Bring ear plugs or stay outside the center of town. Note: If you go closer into the old town it only gets worse - you will find the noise lasting til 6AM from partiers on the streets. I've traveled all over Europe including throughout Spain and have experienced nothing like it before....this is a very festive town and the festivities last all night.

Review 106:Lovely hotel, terrific staff, spacious bathroom, comfortable bed

Review 107:We had the worst experience ever in a hotel. There was a wedding at the hotel so it meant there we NO amenties for other guests. We could get no food or any drink . So check before booking that there is not a wedding

Review 108:the staff were excellent

Review 109:Nothing

Review 110:Good position, near to everything and yet not noisy. Staff are nice. It is a big hotel, a slick operation but there is obviously not the personal touch. The rooms are very good but this is a high quality 4 star corporate hotel. Perhaps slightly lacks the 'romance of travel'

Review 111:The staff could not have been more helpful, from suggesting a great restaurant serving excellent regional food to printing emailed reservation tickets. We would highly recommend, hope to return some day in the future.

Review 112:Whatever you do, don't partake of any Tinto prior to trying topark!! The tiny lot requires that you reserve your space, then wind backaround the hotel downhill on a very narrow street. Someone had taken theliberty of parking in the street and we had inches on either side of thecar to get to the lot. Harrowing.

Review 113:We upgraded our room and wow! We were in a corner with a panoramic viewof the city and the mountains. The accommodations were extraordinary.OMG--the breakfast restaurant was jaw-dropping. Staff was top notch.

Review 114:This was the nicest property we stayed at in the seventeen days we have traveled around Portugal and Spain. Excellent! Great location and easy to get to when you are driving.

Review 115:Very comfortable, nicely situated to explore Pamplona, at the other side of town from the bus station but still only a 15 minute or so walk, AMAZING desserts in the restaurant, try the chocolate souffle!

Review 116:Beautifully quiet yet close to centre of town. Fantastic dining room with chandeliers but no evening meals when we were there - just very good breakfast.

Review 117:The parsimonious guy on the desk who, when we checked out, wanted to charge us for a full breakfast when we only had two croissants and a small bottle of water for an early, pre-breakfast, check out. Petty criticism I know because the young lady who checked us in was a delight. Needless to say, we declined and found breakfast on the road.

Review 118:Lovely hotel within walking distance of everything important in Pamplona.

Review 119:The hotel was really nice, we had such a great stay there and I strongly recommend to try the restaurant for dinner. However the breakfast is not as exciting and grand as you may imagine for the hotel and the price.

Review 120:Definitely skip the breakfast. As a separate issue, my wife came down and asked for a coffee at 11:30 am and was told she would have to leave the hotel to get one. I asked for trousers dry cleaned and was told the hotel had no such service.

Review 121:Excellent location at the top of old town. Quiet but easy walk to everything. Beautiful property. Stayed in JS ..roomy , beautiful view, killer bathroom.

Review 122:the bed could be more comfortable

Review 123:the room was small, but clean and comfortable; the staff was very nice and helpful; the restaurant is highly recommended - very unique in an converted chapel - and the food is great!

Review 124:Very poor communication by staff about the roads which were closed because of snow. The tiled car park wasn't gritted and cars were sliding down the car park's descent in the slush, and the front of the hotel wasn't cleared of 3 inches of snow for its customers. The restaurant was closed on the night of heavy snow, so no option but to head out in the bad conditions with a stroller to find a restaurant. We felt there was no service or advice for the 2 nights we stayed there. Disappointing.

Review 125:Location must be the best in Pamplona. Nice views, clean and reasonable parking charges for its position in the old quarter.

Review 126:Nothing to dislike really!

Review 127:Beautiful building in a very quiet part of the city. Staff really friendly & helpful and spoke english! It is really close to everything. They park your car for a small fee which is worth it as I'd hate to try to find a park! The room was really nice & comfortable with views of the mountains. Nice big bed & a bath. Quiet room & good internet. The restaurant is in the cathedral which is stunning! The breaky wasn't cheap but the coffee is good (nespresso) & the quality of the food was really good. Just make sure you're hungry so you can try it all!

Review 128:The fact that the restaurant was closed for holidays - we would have liked to have been told this before the boooking was accepted. Having to walk a fair distance, in wet weather, to find somewhere to eat was not what we wanted.

Review 129:Excellent Location

Review 130:Hard to navigate rental car into hotel courtyard (but staff park it for you)

Review 131:Building Interiors Location on edge of old town, near start of running of bulls route Staff very helpful

Review 132:Everything about the hotel was spot on and the onsite secure parking was brilliant. The breakfast was superb and the dining room stunning. Will deffo go back if passing Pamplona again.
