Reviews for Cheap & Chic Hotel
Review 1:The only thing of note would be that it can get a little loud in the mornings and evenings. This did not bother us too much as we would get up at 8.30am most mornings and go to bed at 11.30pm most evenings but we did get woken up a few times. I reckon this could be a problem for some who like their calm, especially if they're staying in a hotel so I thought I would mention it. That said, there's probably not much Cheap & Chic can do to reduce the noise - it's up to visitors to keep their voices low and take their heels off when they get up early or come back late, and we all know not everyone does ;)
Review 2:The bright rooms with a lovely design, very friendly staff and excellent central location. It was great to be able to print our tickets last minute for free and their great flexibility for checking in/out. We loved staying at Cheap & Chic.
Review 3:Paper-thin walls meant no sleep due to hyper-sexual activities above and beside our room. Added to this an adjacent church rings a very loud bell on each hour. At first i thought they were keeping score with the other couples. We didn't really sleep at all
Review 4:Modern design and location next to center of town and activities
Review 5:There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this lovely hotel.
Review 6:The simple, contemporary, spotlessly clean and functional design in a traditional Menorcan building in a beautiful town. We had a standard double room, which would be classed as a suite in other hotels, superb comfortable super-king sized bed, a lovely bathroom with walk in shower and an extremely well priced mini bar (with full sized bottles). We are regular visitors to Menorca and will definitely stay here again. Excellent value.
Review 7:The fantastic view from the terrace. The lovely two girls that worked there. The decor in the room and the spacious bathroom. In fact everything about it was fabulous. Can't wait to return next year!!
Review 8:That it doesn't have a lift so it might not be suitable if you have big bags / luggage
Review 9:I liked it's location- right in the heart of the old town! Rooms are comfortable , clean and value for monry
Review 10:Nothing - it was perfect!
Review 11:This was a brilliant hotel, right in the centre of the old town. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely return next time we're in Menorca!
Review 12:It is an old building with very poor sound insulation, so light sleepers will struggle Access by car is a problem, so pack light
Review 13:Location Value for money Greeting and service Modern and clean
Review 14:Nothing.
Review 15:The location was perfect for the old town. The size of the room was great. The bed was bigger than a King size and comfortable. It was very clean. Coffee, tea, buns and flumps available for free in the lobby.
Review 16:Being philosophical and knowing all terrain is favourable if you know how to use it makes this hard to answer. Perhaps English tourists who learn proper Spanish and even the local Menorcan (Catalan) suffer more than most visitors from other nations from being assumed incapable of conducting a full conversation in anything other than English. True, this assumption is often justified, but the people will positively not allow an Englishman to say more than a few words of Spanish before jumping straight to English.
Review 17:I liked the fact that the weather was rocketing from the storms to the sunshine to the wind and back in totally unpredictable style. Thirty years ago travel agents advertised winter sun holidays, today you can only go to this place on a scheduled flight in winter.
Review 18:Because it is in the historic centre with very tiny cobbled streets, parking has to be found in one of the nearby streets. (This is a small price to pay for the wonderful location.)
Review 19:Tiny hotel. Very quiet and spotlessly clean. Big comfy beds. Excellent bathrooms with a walk in shower. Central position in the mediaeval part of the city. Loved our stay here.
Review 20:Our stay was superb in all the ways. The location was excellent, everything we were looking for was less than five minutes away. The room was charming, menorca style but with a modern touch. We will repeat for sure
Review 21:nothing
Review 22:Excellent location for somebody who wants to spend some time in Ciutadella. Just a few steps from the best sites but still located in a quiet side alley.
Review 23:The simplicity
Review 24:Very uncomfortable bed, therefore a bad night's sleep
Review 25:Excellent city centre location
Review 26:Wonderful location and interiors!
Review 27:No tea making facilities in room
Review 28:Very central
Review 29:Lack of reception
Review 30:Locaton
Review 31:We liked it all. Superb small hotel - and so very chic. Everything was perfect
Review 32:I liked the location in the centre of the old town. The facilities were very good. Staff were very helpful and approachable.
Review 33:- location: in the centre of the ancient city; - comfort of bed; - cleanliness of the room.
Review 34:Ruidos. Imposible descansar mas alla de las 8
Review 35:Confort, excepto ducha, poca agua
Review 36:it was simply perfect. located in the heart of the old town, beautiful rooms with extremely friendly staff! I loved it!!
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Welcoming, the italian manager is great, ultra clean, modern, quiet and location.
Review 39:The shower was like a trickle
Review 40:The place, the staff, the rooms everything was amazing!
Review 41:The rooms were a bit too basic. Each room should have had a coffee maker or an electric water jug - after all, the guests are tourists, not Spanish people. The mini wine fridge/cooler was useless, and noisy - I turned mine off (which probably was not good for the wine!). And I don't like.use duvets. The bed linen was not changed in the five nights that I stayed there.
Review 42:The location was perfect for me. The shower facility was a good size. The area was not noisy (other than at three am in the morning when other people in the street were returning home). The lighting in the room was all perfectly placed, as were the electric plugs/sockets.
Review 43:We already knew they didn't serve breakfast, but in a rainy morning it would have been very convenient to have in-hotel service. Our room Arcilla was in the entrance, and early in the morning (7-8am) it was really noisy with other guests coming in/out and woke us up. I guess this doesn't happen in top floors. Being a bit picky, the bed was not as confortable as I would expect.
Review 44:The hotel is very cozy, decoration is quite simple but nice. It has a great location, really close to the Cathedral and with a variety of stores and cafes/restaurants near by. The room has wine fridge filled with great wines, which is a good detail. Although it is not a traditional hotel, in the sense that there is no front desk or staff 24h. We arrived late at night so they gave us the entrance code and the room was unlocked with our key inside so it was a good service.
Review 45:Nothing all.
Review 46:The staff was very friendly and available to give any information,The room and common areas were neat and clean, the lay out very stylish, and the location was just perfect.
Review 47:The bed was not very comfortable!
Review 48:Unfortunatley we arrived rather later than expected, but that did not prove to be a problem. We were made to feel very welcome in a lovely room with very modern bathroom facilities.
Review 49:The cathedral bells rang out 24 hours a day (not overly-intrusive but my wife noticed them at night. Despite other reviews (and this feels like I'm picking, now), the beds were rock solid and both our backs paid for it in the morning. I know this kind of thing is a personal preference but I thought it worth mentioning. Now go and read my plus points.
Review 50:Location was excellent, hotel was new, clean and had everything we needed. Wonderful short stay this winter and highly recommended to all.
Review 51:It was a bit confusing when we came to check in. There was no one at the hotel. We called the number outside the door (thank goodness we had cell phones), and the lady on the line buzzed us in and told us what room to go to. It was only 6pm. The keys were in the room, so we were able to enjoy our stay, but it was a bit odd not having someone around to ask for recommendations (for food/fun…) or help if we had had a serious problem. The restaurant associated with the property (which is on a different street) was also closed for vacation, so I have no clue who the person on the phone was. We were a little worried about our car, because the parking area around the Plaza was pay during the day and free at night, so we had to rush over to pay the parking first thing in the morning.
Review 52:Everything was very clean. The beds were insanely comfortable. We had a lovely room on the top floor. It was a large room with a huge bathroom. The heat worked well. The internet was great. When we checked out, there were people in the office, and they were very nice. The main plus to this hotel was the location. It was so lovely to hear the bells at night. They weren't distracting, though, and there was no street noise, so it was very easy to sleep at night.
Review 53:Our only minor problem, though it seemed less minor when we firstarrived and were rather tired was that we could not get in. It may beuseful to know that if you arrive after about 1.00pm there will be nostaff on the premises you do need to phone reception who will give you akeypad code and tell you which room to go to. You will then find theroom door unlocked and a set of keys inside. Easy when you know how!
Review 54:We loved the central location in the old part of the city and the factthat this is only a very small hotel. (7 rooms). The staff were alwaysvery pleasant, friendly and helpful and kept the place immaculatelyclean. Because of its size and its location down a small cobbled alleyit is very quiet. There is no problem with finding a place to eat asthere are plenty of bars and restaurants around. In fact the excellent971 Restaurant is less than 100 metres away and offers 10% off to Cheapand Chic guests. We believe it is an associated business. Even withoutthe discount we would still have used it regularly for a morning coffeeand croissant and later in the day for more substantial meals.
Review 55:The host Pier was very nice and always available to give some suggestions of restaurants, place to visit and some advice on the beach to go in function of the wind. The accommodations are very clean and functional. The room was perfect with access to a private terrace with one table and 2 chairs -> ideal to have a glass of wine before dinner. There is a restaurant (called 971 from the same proprietary) on the main plaza with very good food (breakfast, lunch and dinner). I will recommend to stay at the Cheap&Chic 100%! Manu
Review 56:Poor sound insulation- the cathedral bells do not stop all night. The doors could do with being thicker and a better fitting to lessen sound from main door way and other guests arriving late
Review 57:“lovely and friendly family run hotel” 13 May 2013 oliveoylandpopeye My wife and I have just returned from a long weekend and found this hotel absolutely lovely. The room was spotless and really modern and comfortable and had the added bonus of a roof top terrace with views across the rooftops to the cathederal....breathtaking!!!! Its not the quietest location being so central but it all adds to the atmosphere. We would definately return. We feel that a safe in the room would be a good addition but thats just our view and does in no way ruin it. The owners also have a bar called 971 just around the corner in which you get 10% discount which makes it really good value. At 971 you have to try the coffee ( which is by far and away the best we have tasted on the 'entire' island! ) and the Mojitos..........wow wow wow!!! We wish Cheap and Chic every succcess in the future and cant wait to go back. Thankyou.
Review 58:Although we had a four person room, there could have been a door between the two sleeping areas
Review 59:Central location, excellent service and amenities at very reasonable rates. Exactly what is needed here. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 60:Absolutely fantastic place. Great interieur. We will come back...
Review 61:We loved the Mediterranean feel of the place, its simplicity, the location.
Review 62:Brilliant location. We stayed in a top floor and also enjoyed the roof terrace access!
Review 63:Great location and really quiet
Review 64:Perfect bolt hole in ciutadella, perfect location, friendly staff, clean and bright fun decor.
Review 65:Few difficulties getting access to hotel as its unmanned
Review 66:Loved roof terrace
Review 67:new..clean..spacious..in the city center..free wi-fi
