Reviews for Palacio Carvajal Girón

Review 1:We had a reservation for dinner, but were kept waiting at the entry of the restaurant for 10mn because the maitre d' was translating the menu for a Japanese couple. Cancelled, and the girl at reception kindly got us a reservation in another restaurant

Review 2:Impressive building in the heart of the beautiful old town. Very large, well appointed and atmospheric suite, an interesting mixture of historical and modern architecture. Very romantic.

Review 3:finding this place was very tricky. sat nave does not recognise the small streets inside the walls so just takes you round in circles... lots of one way streets... we eventually managed to get a lovely gentleman who jumped in over the car and took us straight to the front door..

Review 4:Truly a hidden gem... beautiful rooms lovely friendly staff walkable to the plaza, secure parking but you must reserve a place because there is only room for 5 cars.

Review 5:The property is situated in a wall city difficult access narrow streets parking limited to 5 parking spaces at a cost of 18 euros breakfast was awful waited 30 mins for service when the food came was not good poor quality

Review 6:innovative room design and comfortable bed the velux windows had me nonplussed and instructions in English would have helped

Review 7:magnificent exterior and impressive ground floor and inner courtyard. Beautiful restaurant and very good meal Staff very helpful with parking and the two bottles of water on departure was a lovely gesture

Review 8:We came only for a night and wished we had more time to enjoy the hotel. The hotel made all the difference. Beautifully redone with attention to detail and clean lines. The hotel also has a bar over looking the cathedral.

Review 9:The entrance to the parking lot was very narrow, close to impossible. We were not able to have dinner in the hotel - due to the wine tasting- which was completely unacceptable. Also the breakfast was close to nothing!

Review 10:Location is superb. In the middle of ild town and Plaza Mayor.

Review 11:Open plan bathroom - bath, shower and wash basin in main bedroom area. Separate, enclosed toilet area which smelled of humidity. Washbasin resembled a large trough and was made of a rough, dark material so the washbasin didn't look clean.

Review 12:Reception staff were very helpful & professional, very good food and setting in restaurant. Large room with view on cathedral, large comfortable bed.

Review 13:Breakfast is strange - a long pick and mix of dishes which are then brought to your table. Prefer the help yourself buffet breakfasts which we experience elsewhere. The indoor pool is small.

Review 14:We stayed in a suite which had a spectacular bath - big enough for 2 - or more! The suite was very comfortable and tastefully furnished.

Review 15:If we had to fault anything it was the slippery shower. Stylish but be careful on the slick surface.

Review 16:The wonderful welcome from Paula on the front desk, after a long cycle ride to be offered water and glasses as we checked in was bliss. Nothing was too much trouble, the bikes were stowed safely away for us. The morning staff were so nice and helpful too. Our room was lovely and so comfortable!

Review 17:That we had to leave :o(

Review 18:The architecture of the house inside same as outside is incredible. The lovely owner gave us a tour through the house and showed us the rooms ... Unbeliebable! We drank a tea in one of the libraries and enjoyed the athmosphere of former times. Coming back to this village, i would always Stay in this house.

Review 19:The bathroom did not have heating and was cold, they did give us a heater which helped, but they should look for a more definitive solution.

Review 20:The hotel was perfectly located and the reform was outstanding

Review 21:Nothing really.

Review 22:Secure parking on site was good as it was in the centre of a walled town. Room was furnished in line with the age of the building which was nice. Staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very good with a good choice of food.

Review 23:Uncomfortable seats in breakfast room. Extra charges for second cup of tea at breakfast. No comfortable lounge area. Small bedroom.

Review 24:Good bed. Good location. Helpful staff

Review 25:Very difficult to find. If you have a large car very awkward to negotiate the private secure parking. Parking charges expensive.

Review 26:A beautiful medieval town. Nice hotel with good facilities. Very comfortable.

Review 27:The design is nice but a bit "cold". The so-called "pool" is only alrge basin in the back yard - forget about it! they should not even mention it, it's shabby and ridiculos.

Review 28:This is a lucky mix of old and new. It is an ancient palace renovated inside in a modern industrial design. Located within the walls of the former citadelle, in the old center, it is in a walking distance to main piazza or commercial area. There are plenty of restaurants and bars and the food is excellent. The staff is very nice and helpfull especially with the parking (very difficult to manoever the car whithou their guidance).

Review 29:Bath the size of a hot tub so didn't fill up!! Indoor pool not available.

Review 30:Very helpful staff and hotel is very central.

Review 31:Atencion personal

Review 32:Staff were extremely helpful, hotel well positioned to visit the town

Review 33:The History of the building, a great interior design, the unique blend of old and new. Their restaurant is excellent.

Review 34:I have written to the hotel and would like to send a copy to yourselves if you send me your email address.

Review 35:Breakfast

Review 36:Staff, room. Situation of hotel.

Review 37:The hotel is nice

Review 38:Everything

Review 39:Friendliness of the staff. Beautiful spacious room. Ideally situated to visit Plasencia.

Review 40:great location, lovely city, friendly staff

Review 41:outdoor pool was dirty and not useable. Breakfast disappointing.

Review 42:great building. Good restaurant. Large and well equipped rooms.

Review 43:No problems

Review 44:Staff and service excellent

Review 45:The hotel has a real Spanish feel

Review 46:simplicity/austerity of the style good food great room quiet location

Review 47:Didnt expect to be able to use the pool due to time of year but the terrace next to pool not really in use either - would have been nice

Review 48:Lovely comfortable room, with huge bath. Good breakfast, friendly and helpful service. Lovely building right next to main town square so ideal for visiting

Review 49:That the suite we had booked was given to someone else - the emir of Kuwait or something - and we were told there was a plumbing problem and at first were offered a room with no natural light. Finally we ended up with a standard room that was very nice with French doors onto a balcony with a view over the cathedral.

Review 50:Clean and comfortable in an excellent location

Review 51:-breakfast is good in quality and quantity, however could have the flexibility to choose from the menu and not being fixed

Review 52:-hotel well located, at the historic center. -the rooms are well presented and equipped -the staff are first class - warm and keen to help.

Review 53:Our room was at the end of a corridor under the eaves and had no windows only ceiling vents. Bedroom was down a flight of stairs which started a few feet from the door, so were a little dangerous. Bathroom was upstairs so not very convenient in the middle of the night. Other rooms, however, had a different layout. Modernistic design which as often was not particularly functional or cosy!

Review 54:Staff were friendly and very helpful, spoke good English. Hotel very central. Room spacious with comfortable beds Lovely old building. Parking limited and a little difficult but staff guided one in and out.

Review 55:A bit difficult to find but once there, well worth it. My favourite hotel so far

Review 56:Old and full of character but with a modern influence. A great mix. Delightful

Review 57:Poor value for money. Superior bedroom was in polished concrete with no carpets, no slippers, no tissues, no wall pictures. Bed was on castors. A large room but lacking in character and amenities. Not much English spoken, apart from reception

Review 58:Nice location, Old building, Reception super helpful

Review 59:The Hotel lobby and principal areas are large and hollow, and as there was no low level piped music, it felt rather cold. We would love to have had Dinner in, but there was nobody in the dining room. Perhaps you should try packaging a Dinner in at least one night of people's stays to ensure atmosphere. We had breakfast, which was excellent. On a lesser note, the wi-fi connection was quite slow.

Review 60:The Hotel is well located, at the heart of the old part of the town. The building is stunning, and the rooms are well presented and equipped. The staff are first class - warm and keen to help. It must be a dream venue for anyone looking top celebrate a wedding etc.

Review 61:We had booked the room with a fireplace, which when looking online seemed the most attractive. But there was half a wardrobe to arrange our clothes which was impossible for a 4 night stay. The alternative suite offered was in keeping with this type of hotel.

Review 62:We like this type of hotel, so we were happy with it, and it was what we expected.

Review 63:For one night only we were looking for a place to sleep well. We end up getting a lot more. A very well recovered old building with decorated with an exquisite taste. Space all over... Food was excellent. Traditional ingredients with a renewed touch, and a taste that makes you want to come back. Very very professional staff.

Review 64:The shower was broken and the towel rack was broken. We told the staff about it but they never fixed it. The indoor pool they advertised was not working and the outside pool had no water yet.

Review 65:The location was great.

Review 66:Bathtube/shower& washbowl in the room, without separation: OK for couples but perhaps a surprise if you share a room with someone you're not so intimate with. (Toilet separated though).

Review 67:Old city palace tastefully refurbished in modern style. Professional staff, very helpfull. Complimentary fresh fruit and drinks on the room. Our reservation was confirmed by email, together with a description (text & drawing) of how to reach the hotel: a most useful initiative which turned out to be a great help. The hotel has a few parking places on a patio; millimeter driving but OK with some help from the staff.

Review 68:At last Plasencia has a good hotel. Great location & fantastic room. We'll be coming back! For informal eating try Blues Mary on calle Santa Clara (just near the cathedral)

Review 69:The location in very narrow streets - particularly access to the parking area. Would have loved to eat in every night but couldn't manage the only option of six course tasting menu. Would it not be possible to offer people the option of having, say, any three of the six courses for a lesser price?

Review 70:The attentive service of ALL the staff - reception, night porter, restaurant waiter - everyone was so very pleasant and helpful.

Review 71:Very nice hotel in the heart of the city with exceptional helfpul and friendly english speaking staff. Parking is a little bit tricky but safe an near the hotel ;-)

Review 72:Nothing.

Review 73:Great palacio. Loved it. One of the best places that we stayed at inSpain. Professional and warm staff. There was always someone there tohelp. Decor great. Had the degustation menu and it was excellent. Pricefor what we had was very reasonable. Would highly recommend this Palacio

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:Very attentive staff. Very welcome glass of water on arrival and bottles to take on departure. Excellent room and all the hotel decor. Lovely courtyard. Help parking the car was useful.

Review 76:A touch of form over function - but you can't have everything - it is a beatiful hotel with really well-trained staff.

Review 77:Staff, service, building, location

Review 78:The room was very small and badly designed.

Review 79:Beautiful location looking out onto the cathedral also convenient location for the restaurants and bars.

Review 80:parking cost

Review 81:location

Review 82:The spacious and very quiet suite. The complimentary mini bar, bathrobes and slippers.

Review 83:Habitación. Staff.

Review 84:Restaurant not open in evening

Review 85:Location Breakfast Room

Review 86:Open bathroom perhaps a little too bare.

Review 87:Beautiful building very well restored. Large comfortable rooms with excellent beds.

Review 88:Excellent hotel in old building

Review 89:Spotlessly clean, great service, excellent location, safe car parking

Review 90:What a fantastic place. WOW! we only had an over night stay, wanted to stay for ever.friendly staff, english spoken. Cant recommend it enough.

Review 91:Very noisy wooden floor above my room - yes it is in,the original palace style, but it makes for a very poor sleep.

Review 92:Location, building and very friendly and professional staff.

Review 93:The high romos are a Little claustrophobic, because you can´t seethe street

Review 94:Peace and quiet, wonderful views, interesting building, relaxing atmosphere.

Review 95:friendly staff

Review 96:Loved everything about it. Fabulous position and exceptional room, quiet and modern.

Review 97:No coffee/tea set in the room

Review 98:Very attractive minimalistic look
