Reviews for Hotel Restaurante Toruño
Review 1:No Lift.Furniture very tired and in need of replacement.Towels very thin and need replacing.A bit of money unfortunately needs to be spent. Its a pity because we remember when it was first built and not much as changed
Review 2:Excellent location for bird watching sites.good restaurant close by connected to hotel.Wi Fi good.Great views over the laguna.
Review 3:The evening meals in the hotel restaurant are over priced and the quality of the food 'is poor to indifferent (the worst food we had in a 3 week holiday to Spain where we ate in 18 different restaurants).
Review 4:The hotel itself is excellently located, however the breakfast arrangements in the restaurant across the road can be slightly chaotic, though the breakfast itself is good.
Review 5:Amazing place, what an incredible position. We loved everything about it. You have to go there to see for yourselves. The staff - especially Juan Angelo & Rocia were fantastic. Great food at the restaurant and great breakfast. El Rocio is a must!!!!!
Review 6:Fabulous location - restaurant good food in the evening and also the breakfast in the morning. However we appreciate it is December and cold, but if there could be a rug on the tiled floor it would make a difference when getting up in the morning and putting your feet on this rather than a tiled floor !!
Review 7:Nothing. Would definitely stay and eat there again.
Review 8:Beautiful and unique location. Hotel staff friendly and helpful, and room comfortable. Best air conditioning system we have come across in Spain, quiet and efficient. As a plus the restaurant opposite is superb. try the Ibirico Ham and pay extra for it! Can't be faulted, excellent value for money too.
Review 9:The staff at the reception desk was blatantly unfriendly towards us (me my wife and 2 kids); plus, our rooms were overlooking a pub and the youths down there kept us awake until 4 AM. Three nights like that. Such a shame.
Review 10:Only El Rocio, such an awesome, quaint little town!
Review 11:The hotel is very basic - the room and bathroon facilities are rather poor, the smell in a room is not pleasant, the beds are not comfortable The lake view "promised" by the hotel adverts was not available cause the lake was competely cut off due to the heat in August. The same happened with famous Donana marshes we came to visit. The guide explained that if we want to see the marshes and the lake for sure, we need to come in March or April at latest =)
Review 12:1. Potisitive guy on the reception - although he did not know English at all and I do not know Spanish (just a few words), we managed to understand each other 2. Good location in El Rocio - right near the same name restaurant which seems to be (one of?) the best restaurants in this location given that it is always full of customers 3. El Rocio as such - that is a city fully covered by tonnes of sand (the guide in Donana park explained that in the past these lands were part of the sea but then the sea gone) and full of horses (those I used here both as a major transport and as a way of spending leisure time by visitors from suberbs 4. El Toruno restaurant is very good
Review 13:Staff didn't speak English well and didn't have info I needed. The restaurant was expensive.
Review 14:The town is unique and startling. The hotel has nice and traditional decor. The path near the hotel is easy to walk on and is the entrance to a UNESCO nature park. Unforgettable!
Review 15:We loved the view over the marsh from our room; having dinner in the restaurant with its lovely ancient olive tree spreading over us; a lovely place to stay.
Review 16:Beds like boards, room tiny and facing away from lake (203). However there are many better rooms. We paid for half board but our menu was very limited and poor, we were wishing we could have what the others were having!
Review 17:On the lake shore in a unique and interesting location. Unless you are very keen to extensively explore Donana National Park one or two nights will be a good length of stay. Nice breakfast in the hotels restaurant.
Review 18:The location of the hotel opposite the lake was magical. The view from our balcony captured the wild horses running through the lake at 8 am., flamingos & spoonbills followed. Fabulous setting. Loved the town too.typical Spa
Review 19:Restaurant did not seem to have tapas for us otherwise good and friendly Early morning workmen noise till moved room
Review 20:View spectacular . Hotel staff most helpful
Review 21:The weekend we visited happened to coincide with a celebration that brought in hundreds of people - a small version of the pilgrimage for which El Rocio is well know. If you are here for bird watching, as we were, try to avoid such times. Interesting but loud, and the birds in the nearby marsh were eventually scared away by the repeated fireworks.
Review 22:Nice location with good views of the marsh and access to the paseo. Restaurant offered good food choices and a friendly staff.
Review 23:The beds were a bit hard but the worst thing was that they had plastic covers on the madress which you ofcourse have to rip off before sleeping - Please buy a madrascover if you like to protect the madras. Avoid halfbord - The halfbord food was not good. Blend, no taste, no love and boring. Please help the chef to improve. Icecold in the restaurant - no heating in january in the restaurant - why??
Review 24:Our view from the room was beautiful. The location of the hotel is wonderful. The rooms are small but alright. The town is wonderful and surroundings beautiful! Not many people when we were there but I understand they come during weekends. Lady in reception spoke english which was nice. Would love to go back one day and we would stay there again
Review 25:Food on full pension was a bit ordinary, but good value. Plumbing noises could be a problem for light sleepers, but the place was otherwise very peaceful.
Review 26:Helpful staff Interesting characterful building Lovely views over the lake with excellent bird-watching El Rocio is an amazing little town like nowhere I have been. Good access to seville, Donana park and the beaches at Matalascanas
Review 27:Wifi in the room would be nice. It works fine, but only in the lobby.
Review 28:Room with two windows facing the waterpond (dry in October, just a handful flamingos in the distant). El Rocio is a very special place, you feel like in the setting of a western movie...
Review 29:Builders were knocking out the bathroom next door from 4 in the afternoon til 10 at night! We had to leave the hotel. The reception staff were really helpful and tried to resolve it, but I don't think the management can have much respect for guests.
Review 30:The hotel is well situated for Donana national park and there is a restaurant situated opposite. The staff were friendly and helpful. Two of the mornings we needed to leave early and there was a packed breakfast waiting. Restaurant staff were great as well as the hotel staff.
Review 31:Great location! Staff very friendly and supportive. If you only have one chance in life, you should try this little paradise in heart" of Andalucia!
Review 32:The hotel was very poor quality, our twin beds were a small double, the room was a box room, the restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay, the price had been hugely inflated during our dates unbeknown to us so we expected quality and got poorer than poor
Review 33:Beds were not as comfortable as would have liked.
Review 34:Location was great, resturant is excellent
Review 35:As usual no lift, but no space in hotel for one so that is what we accept each time we go there.
Review 36:Balcony overlooking the laguna

Review 45:The breakfast was particularly low quality
Review 46:The view on the marshes and the horses
Review 47:Bed was too hard.
Review 48:Location is fantastic.
Review 49:El Rocio is unique. The hotel has wonderful viws of the lake from some rooms.
Review 50:Uncomfortable beds and very small tight room. Not enough space to put down bags.
Review 51:Access to wildlife and restaurant nearby.
Review 52:Nice hotel and very nice view overlooking the lake with many birds.
Review 53:None
Review 54:Perfect location for visit to Donana National Park. Very comfortable. Friendly staff who were able to arrange our visit to the park.
Review 55:A great view over the marismas from our room. A bonus for birdwatchers!
Review 56:Half board evening meals were filling but wrere predominantly protein!

Review 68:The location in El Rocio.excellent breakfast.
Review 69:nothing
Review 70:The location
Review 71:noisy guests
Review 72:location, atmosphere,breakfast
Review 73:Half board menu was mediocre with little choice.
Review 74:Super position. Very clean and in good position.
Review 75:Great location plus best restaurant in town.
Review 76:The views across the wetland from the bedroom were wonderful.
Review 77:Nothing but probably not enough to do to spend a week
Review 78:Very different and interesting location. Excellent restaurant with good service.
Review 79:Restaurant food was disappointing.
Review 80:The view of the lagoon was fantastic! Beautiful flamingos and horses seen from our room.
Review 81:Location couldn't be better - in the village on the lake. Superb bird life on the lake, Near the SEO observatory for even better views. More birds than many other Donana locations.
Review 82:Nothing, all was great.
Review 83:Closeness to parque donana, the view from the hotel was so much better than the acebuche tour into the park, i should just have stayed at the hotel and walked there to see the lake.
Review 84:Railings on our balcony reached up to the ceiling giving us a prison-like feeling.
Review 85:Hotel was located right next to the lake, giving fantastic views from our room. Hotel restaurant good.
Review 86:Not much room for clothing in the wardrobe & no hanging length for dresses. No small fridge for water etc. No facility to make tea & coffee.
Review 87:Location for birdwatching. Very pleasant staff. Restaurant staff very helpful. Food enjoyable but expensive.
Review 88:No tea making facilities, but true English people are prepared for this situation and take their own.
Review 89:The hotel is in a very good location, we are birdwatchers. Lovely views across a lake from the room's balcony. The hotel was comfortable the room was spacious The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff very friendly and tolerant of two English people who could speak very little Spanish.
Review 90:We didn't enjoy the food in the restaurant and it wasn't cheap. The breakfasts were very basic as well. As we weren't there for haute cuisine it didn't really matter!
Review 91:The location overlooking the marsh and in the centre of the town
Review 92:The situation, amazing view from our room over the water of flamingoes and other birds, the welcoming bar and good restaurant. El Rocio is a really different place to stay, sand roads and a Wild West feel!
Review 93:My only (tiny) disappointment was that the hotel did not subscribe to the football channel so I was unable to watch "El Classico" which I had been looking forward to.
Review 94:Fantastic views from the room over the marshes. It really was possible to watch hundreds of Flamingos from the bedroom. Generous, good quality breakfast. Staff offered the use of the hotel's computer if I needed access in an emergency.
Review 95:The only drawback is that there is no lift (elevator) in the hotel. The staff carried our suitcases up the stairs when we arrived which was a great help.
Review 96:Super small hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. The hotel is situated in the most unusual town in Spain. It's like something from a Wild West film set!! Must be seen & experienced to be appreciated. The food at the hotel restaurant was very good though pricey when compared to other restaurants in the town. Would definitely recommend this hotel. It's position, overlooking the lagoon is superb.
Review 97:The rooms are small and noise travels through the building.
Review 98:The location is unbeatable. The restaurant has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide for the last four years but is very reasonably priced.
Review 99:The hotel reception staff were not satisfactory, i did not feel welcomed at all, and the breakfast staff were indifferent to us. We were left waiting to check out while the reception staff had breakfast!!??? have you not heard about service for your paying customers???
Review 100:The restaurant dinner staff and food was excellent. I am making a distinction between the dinner waiting staff and the other staff. We got really good advice from a waiter on food and wine matching. The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable.
Review 101:Loved this place, felt more comfortable here than some of the expensive hotels we stayed in, in the city. The staff were very helpfully and friendly.
Review 102:Staff were OK but not over friendly, we only ate at the restaurante twice we had to move and eat elsewhere food was awful. We are going to stay at Cristina's in April and perhaps the Malvasia later.
Review 103:We had a view overlooking the lake.
Review 104:Fantastic lakeside location in a very unusual little town. Breakfast was basic , but the staff were happy to provide us with a picnic breakfast for the day we had an early start for a tour. The rooms were clean but a bit dated.
Review 105:Breakfast was fairly basic. Cold coffee for picnic breakfast.
Review 106:The location next to the lake in the unique town of El Rocio - bird watching from the room. Half board meal was good value - no extras charged.
Review 107:only criticism was the breakfast, not much choice and the food didn't seem very fresh, but for what we paid it was ok
Review 108:the hotel is in a fantastic position, overlooking the lake, the scenery couldn't be any better, the rooms are good sizes and clean. we arrived a few days before the festival was happening and there was a good atmosphere in the town
Review 109:The standard of the breakfasts was abysmal - given how good the evening meals were, this was the only disappointment.
Review 110:The hotel a very comfortable and attractive looking hotel in the most perfect position next to the lagoon. The views from the rooms over looking the lagoon are magnificent and afford some wonderful bird-watching. The general location is excellent for access into the Coto Donana National and Naturals parks. The standard of the food in the restaurant is very high. The staff at the hotel could not have been more welcoming.
Review 111:Not good for less abled. No rooms in the hotel to cater for lessabled guests.
Review 112:Excellent location for anyone interested in birdwatching. The village ofEl Rocio is unique and fascinating.
Review 113:Very small room. Mattresses very hard. El Rocio is an expensive place to stay even in Feb. We paid less for a 4* with breakfast in Seville a few days later than this very basic 2*
Review 114:Location - lovely view over the lagoon. We needed the heating so were grateful for it! Great for bird watching and visits to Donana.
Review 115:Noise from above in other rooms
Review 116:A good location in El Rocio, some rooms face the marshland which have good open views. Comfortable beds and the breakfast included was excellent
Review 117:The staff were pretty dour, which was a shame.
Review 118:The hotel and restaurant are really good, and the room is very clean and pleasant. The views and area of El Rocio are great.
Review 119:Great hotel, simple but comfortable rooms and free chilled sherry in the lobby was nice! Hotel restaurant across the road was excellent both for included breakfast and for dinner. Also loved the town and setting. No water in the lagoon by the hotel when we went (September) but still beautiful with wild horses, cows and deer, dusty sand roads, horse riders and nice town.
Review 120:We could find no fault
Review 121:Very well run hotel with excellent facilities for the price. The hotel is close to the Cota Donana Nature Reserve and has excellent views for lovers of nature. It makes a very good base for visiting the reserve and the surrounding area.
Review 122:The Reception/Lounge area, had a Drinking Water Cooler, that was emptyfor the 4 days we were there,on the other hand, the Manzanilla tap(which was free), was always full.
Review 123:I've been before so know what to exxpect, the Staff were friendly withoutbeing in your face.
Review 124:No lift. Otherwise everything was good.
Review 125:Situated in very interesting town like a scene from a Wild West movie.Large marshland from hotel but unfortunately it was dried up as it wasJuly. It is wonderful view from hotel in Spring - wildlife etc.Hotel restaurant offered good food. Only good eating place in my opinion in town. Very interesting area called Doñana Park to see - wildlife etc. but local seaside town very basic and not good for shopping. Suitable for one or two nights break. Very nice hotel. No lift!
Review 126:This is a basic family run Hotel. The situation is amazing, the rooms ok. Free wifi in the reception area. The restaurant very good and reasonably priced with fantastic views over the marsh. Very much a one horse town and really interesting.
Review 127:A very small niggle - and so much worth the extra effort once we saw the view - but since there's no lift, it would have been lovely to have had someone to help with the luggage up the stairs when we first arrived.
Review 128:Totally fabulous hotel in a quite astonishing setting - our room looked out on to a lake with flamingos and storks. Watching the sunset each evening from the comfort of our bedroom was one of the most magical experiences imaginable. Good breakfast in the restaurant just beside the hotel. We had an excellent dinner there one evening as well.
Review 129:Room cold on arrival, Room Smelled heavily of dissinfectant. Noise ofMaid moving furniture above our room at 8.00/People talking loud echoingthrough the corridors!./Maid mopping round my feet in public loungewhilst on laptop a 5.00pm in the evening.Won't be back.!!! Also nothingto do with the hotel but the streets are Dreadfull as you probablyknow,it had rained heavily on our arrival,so my wife had to walk to thehotel along the front as she has a very bad back & we had not hired a"land rover" just a saloon car??.
Review 130:The restaurant was a real disappointment. Friendly enough but the food was very poor quality. Quite a surprise as we had expected good things and booked half board on the strength of reviews. Maybe it was an off day.
Review 131:Very clean. Great location, on the water front. Our room had great views. Relaxed feel and very comfortable.
