Reviews for Mirador de La Portilla
Review 1:A minor point: for one of us, the pillow was hard but a cushion sufficed.
Review 2:The two receptionists were most helpful with advice and maps, and had good English. We liked the location, but other travellers may want to be closer to another restaurant (other than the hotel's one) for choice.
Review 3:We had planned on eating our evening meal in the restaurant, but we purchased a drink in the bar, but were made to feel we were in the way of some furniture shifting. There was no sign of where and when an evening meal might be available. The hotel had very few guests. After finishing our drink and much delay, including speaking to the receptionist, we decided to leave and walked to find another establishment to eat at. As we were on a motorcycle and did not want to have to ride anywhere we should have been a captive audience for an evening meal. Fortunately the other restaurant was only a 10 - 15 minute walk away. It was called the Hotel Rural Robles, and they were happy to have our business.
Review 4:A lovely big modern room with a balcony. Very comfortable. However, the tap on the washbasin was broken and the plug would not stay in the plughole. Breakfast was very good.
Review 5:We arrived at 6.00pm after a 400+ mile drive and checked in. We unpacked and went in search of the bar as we were dying for a cold beer. The surly receptionist told us the bar didn't open until 7pm and we couldn't get a drink before that. I asked for some pool towels to be told they don't provide them so I couldn't even take a swim. We showered and dressed for dinner at the hotel's San Valentin restaurant as advertised on the web-site and as booked by me on our booking form. However, the restaurant wasn't open, (it was Friday 19th July!) and we had our dinner in the bar we'd just been drinking in - it was like an open-air works canteen and we were way over-dressed. Our room did have a mini-bar but all that was in there were 2 bottles of water - would it be too much to put a few bottles of beer in there? This hotel is a total no-no to any civilised traveller.
Review 6:Nothing at all.
Review 7:Beds are very firm. The camping nearby is noisy in the weekend
Review 8:The rooms are very big and have a nice balcony. Good parking on site, which is closed at night.
Review 9:No wifi on the terrace. Some walking trails are near impossible (spotting signs is an art and some paths are barely existent).
Review 10:Don't expect a smile from staff, but they do their work excellent. Breakfast-buffet was included but (like most Spanish buffets) not high standard. Excellent room facilities, very soft beds, nice views, next to canyon with river.
Review 11:The excellent service. The staff went out of their way to accommodate ten weary motorcyclists. The rooms were spacious, clean and air conditioned. The evening meals and the tapas at the bar were very good.
Review 12:The dining area was across the drive from the Hotel which meant on a cold wet day that was not convenient. The Hotel is also out of the village and quite a trek if you wanted to walk and explore.
Review 13:A lovely Hotel with large rooms and big bathrooms. The attention to detail is excellant. It is a modern hotel with balcony views of mountains. excellant friendly staff with good food in splendid dining area. Very nice.
Review 14:The restaurant was empty and lacking atmosphere.
Review 15:Comfort of hotel and view, friendliness of staff.
Review 16:Big rooms,
