Reviews for Hotel Puerta de la Luna
Review 1:bar food and tapas was very poor , there is a stupid requirement that a couple must have the same tapas to avail of the free offer - also the bar staff was not friendly or helpful
Review 2:we were given an excellent suite
Review 3:we had only limited time in Baeza on our way to Barcelona. You need to be good with stick shift to drive in the town and driving into their underground garage.
Review 4:Location, beautiful facility, dinner (my compliments to chef, must try chef's choice multiple course prix fix menu), bar.
Review 5:Terrible evening meal Food was poor and service would have been better in a transport cafe 2 staff on, 3 tables in use and plates left uncollected for 30 minutes or more
Review 6:Lots of rooms to disappear into Our boutique bedroom was well worth the extra cost
Review 7:Flies in room! Annoying early evening and woke us up in the morning Breakfast room was internal and not overlooking the courtyard
Review 8:Location Lovely old building with much character Patos tapas bar
Review 9:Awful stewed coffee at breakfast, poor orange juice, tepid water for tea. Our room was an attic room with no view, requiring a climb up a flight of steps to get from the door to the sleeping area.
Review 10:Pleasant and helpful staff. Very attractive historic building. Nice pool, good bar and restaurant, good location very near to cathedral.Nice breakfast selection at buffet let down by beverages.
Review 11:Relaxing and comfortable stay in the old part of Baeza. Well maintained and run, with an excellent tapas bar attached. We very much enjoyed this hotel. Breakfast was excellent though a little pricey. Parking is not free but is secure (approached from rear of hotel). The streets are very narrow in places so go slow if you are a timid driver.
Review 12:Absolutely nothing. We love this place!!!!
Review 13:Amazing value - right in the centre of Madrid. The staff couldn't do enough to help. Loads of added extras, such as a glass of cava, which for the price is crazy!
Review 14:We have stayed here before and they remembered which room and knew we liked it and gave it to us. The hotel, pool, furnishings and ambience were fantastic we shall stay again
Review 17:A little difficult to locate, very narrow street to drive past hotel around to the carpark.
Review 18:Location with views up to the bell tower, overlooking the pool.
Review 19:No bad experience, but I didn't take breakfast at the hotel as it is very expensive and in their cellar. A few steps down into the town, you can enjoy a beautiful breakfast at reasonable cost in the open air.
Review 20:The convenient location, the feeling of it being a calm oasis, the little pool, the comfort of the room. This is one of the loveliest hotels I've stayed in on my travels throughout Spain. It's my second visit to this hotel.
Review 21:The bedroom was large and nicely furnished but next time we would pay a bit more for a different room.
Review 22:Gorgeous hotel in one of old buildings in Baeza near the cathedral. Lovely restaurant but very quiet the night we were there but it was early March on a cold winters night. Beautiful decor. Wonderful location.
Review 23:Would have liked to have had breakfast in a room with a view. Felt too enclosed.
Review 24:The location set in the old town. The beautiful courtyard The Bar Paco was most enjoyable and good value for money.
Review 25:Location a little difficult . Parking also, although if more info was given there is easy free parking not far away. Breakfast is too expensive.
Review 26:Overall comfort
Review 27:attention to cleanliness in bedroom pariticularly floors, small items on floors on arrival still there on departure perhaps needs a daily vacing
Review 28:Location/ambiance/antiquity
Review 29:The hotel has basic comfort but with very nice and skilled staff. They help you with a matters as restaurants and bookings for Alhambra. You park the car (free) and leavy it because all thaings are walking distance.
Review 30:Bit of a Spanish drains smell near the entrance. Noticed by all our group and since commented on by friends who have stayed there. Price is a bit high compared to similar hotels that we subsequently investigated and not really justified by the experience. Although we speak Spanish man on reception often brusque and impatient. No spare pillows in the room and no toiletries in the bathroom. Room very clean but lacked any sense of the personal comforts one enjoys. In short just lacked the bit extra I was hoping for. Pool was closed but un drained and dirty. Wi fi impossible to connect to most of the time.
Review 31:Excellent location with a real sense of atmosphere on entrance. Lovely ground floor layout and courtyards Feels like there will be a touch of luxury about it. Clean and well cared for. Very good breakfast
Review 32:Nothing - everything was excellent.
Review 33:Lovely large room, very comfortable hotel with excellent restaurant and a superb tapas bar. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking available in hotel car park but better take a small car! Excellent breakfast.
Review 34:nothing at all - we were sad to leave
Review 35:The hotel was beautifully situated just a short walk from all the main places of interest. Baeza was a lovely place and the hotel was very relaxing.
Review 36:Water for tea on breakfast buffet could have been hotter.
Review 37:Comfortable room, with view over pool area. Good wifi connection. Pleasant hotel bar serving tapas, used by guests and locals. Short stroll to historic centre.
Review 38:Both the restaurant and the tapas bar were closed on the same night. Breakfast was expensive and not great. The parking garage was extremely tight and there were too many cars parked there, so some were blocked. We were overcharged and had to be reimbursed. Not a great experience.
Review 39:Hotel has charm, but the town is a little off the beaten path.
Review 40:There were no negatives.
Review 41:Everything! Staff are great. We had a suite room which was comfortable and the food in the hotel was great. We enjoyed outstay very much!
Review 42:The location and decoration of the breakfast room could be more atmospheric (e.g. some music) and the breakfast itself could do with some hot food.
Review 43:The location in the old town of Baeza, next to the cathedral, was excellent. We very much liked to pool in the courtyard to cool down in the hot afternoon after the sight seeing.
Review 44:If you care about your car DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. Car park is tiny with too many spaces for the size. Spaces free for all so large cars can get trapped. use the public car park nearby. Stuff to ruin a holiday and no apology from management.
Review 45:Historical building in excellent location
Review 46:Wi-fi cranky only worked well in reception area Great location but access and car parking tricky. Satnav takes us up the wrong road best to approach from rear, steep ramp, once there v secure! Breakfast did not justify cost
Review 47:The room and it's facilities Paco's bar The pool area picturesque High quality common areas too Next to beautiful cathedral and delightful conservation area
Review 48:The hotel parking is very tight and requires a competent driver to negotiate entry/exit
Review 49:We stayed here for one night whilst visiting the beautiful town of Baeza. The hotel did not disappoint us at all and in particular we liked the location, the decor and ambience ,the helpful staff and the generous room size. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant choosing to eat in town and found a brilliant restaurant nearby, first left first right on leaving the hotel. We also had breakfast in the university nearby orange juice, coffee, toast for three euros. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation
Review 50:Downside is that wifi kept dropping out: particularly annoying if you are trying to plan stuff. So best spend 30mins in the reception area where the wifi is fine. There was a young family staying and this is not really a family hotel: there's nothing much for kids to do in this oasis of calm.
Review 51:Easy to find the hotel as is signposted at most junctions. Roads maybe narrow but by no means a nightmare. Stopped right outside hotel to unload then other half went to park car in nearby street (free). The old town is on your door step, with more restaurants a 5min walk. Pool area clean & attractive just like the picture flanked by orange trees & wicker-like furniture. Paid for Superior room with patio but ended up with superior double overlooking pool area - which was beautiful. Good working AC. Ate on patio area in evening which was 10/10 for atmosphere. Food ok but shame about waiter who in trying to be efficient, was just abrupt. He was unable to help us with ANY items on the menu despite his English being ok. Baeza is lovely calm, picturesque town/village and we just wanted to stay longer & chill...
Review 52:Wifi only in hallway and lounge (you would expect better in a hotel like this). Extra bed in double room very expensive (€ 40,-).
Review 53:Location in centre of Baeza, wonderful swimmingpool and terrace garden. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. Great restaurant and bar (not cheap though).
Review 54:We reserved at the last minute and could not get à parking space, but parked for free just a couple of streets away. Air conditioning noisy and not very efficient in our room, but better in the triple room we reserved for our children. Internet connection poor, but seems to be a common problem. Room on second floor with just roof lights not full windows. Not a problem for just one night but would have been uncomfortable if staying longer.
Review 55:Central location in an elegant building in a beautiful city. Excellent breakfast buffet. We did not try the restaurant but the bar serves great tapas.
Review 56:We didn't try the restaurant and so can't comment on it or breakfast
Review 57:Shower poorly placed too near the wall
Review 58:Friendly. Clean value for money
Review 59:Small and Beautiful hotel close to the cathedral. Pool. View. Atmosphere. Try "Pacos Bar" next to the hotel!
Review 60:Room very basic, bed uncomfortable with one small pillow and no duvet, no feel of luxury.
Review 61:The hotel very nice building etc very interesting
Review 62:Pool water was not clear, so I would not use it.
Review 63:Great location. Indoor parking was convenient and secure. Restaurant and tapas bar were excellent.
Review 64:Great location. Really nice swimming pool which was great for our young kids.
Review 65:Very difficult to find ny car
Review 66:The breaclgast buffet and zhe morninglandy were fantastic.
Review 67:Great location next to a magnificent church worthy of visiting.
Review 68:Boutique feel, history and the attached restaurant.
Review 69:cost of hotel car park - far to high per day
Review 70:location - and character - charm
Review 71:Absolutely charmed with Puerta de la Luna: professional staff, elegant surroundings, spacious rooms.
Review 72:Poor sound proofing
Review 73:Nice comfortable room with terrace (room 116) Friendly helpful staff Free parking on street nearby
Review 74:parking was a bit of a challenge....drive a small car!! But that being said, we made it in with a fairly large van!!
Review 75:entire hotel was beautiful
Review 76:Even with A/C the room we bad under the roof didn't get enough air. This aspect was unconfortable.
Review 77:Location Courtyard and lounge Decoration
Review 78:The hotel was very relaxing - we had a lovely room which was quiet and large.
Review 79:The wifi did not worked
Review 80:Beautiful and comfortable hotel
Review 81:excellent food and service. Central and quiet location in old part of town.
Review 82:The staff The pool The restaurant And location
Review 83:Breakfast was good but very expensive.
Review 84:Large rooms, décor, beautiful location and buildings.
Review 85:Reception attedance (medium age guy)was a little bit poor. Not the best manners you would expect un such a nice place.
Review 86:Access is difficult but worth the effort!
Review 87:Setting, pool, dinner on the patio by the pool. A very atmospheric hotel
Review 88:Room Pool Location Service
Review 89:Hard to find
Review 90:Beautiful location, amazing restaurant on site
Review 91:My only gripe was that my laptop couldn't hook into their WiFi network. According to my tech support guy, this is a combination of my older laptop and cheap hotel wireless routers. I had the same problem at our rental villa, but not at other hotels. In fairness, others at our rental villa had no problem, so it was a combination issue: older laptop - cheap router.
Review 92:A beautiful boutique hotel in a marvelous town: Baeza. We were literally next door to the Cathedral. The 21:20 bell ringing was an amazing experience from our bedroom window. Our room was a lovely, very spacious suite with a huge marble bathroom with separate bathtub and shower. It overlooked the terrace and pool. Parking is available and relatively accessible by European standards. The town has amazing 16th century architecture wide walking street - a very welcome surprise with very little hype or tourists - great to just walk and discover We also visited the neighboring town of Ubeda. Our only regret was we couldn't spend more time in both places -stay at least two days. Wish we had known more about the hotel and town before we booked - a "must see" - like Alhambra. The hotel and towns were one of the highlights of our two weeks in Spain. UNESCO sites. Stay at the hotel and see the region!
Review 93:No complimentary drinking water, a hotel of this standard should not charge 1.50 euros for a tiny bottle of water.
Review 94:Central location, lovely restaurant, we ate outside, very helpful reception man for advising us on things in the area. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities.
Review 95:Nothing
Review 96:We loved the location of this Hotel. By the Monastery and close to the wonderful view over the valley and river. The room was really large with 2 armchairs as well and overlooked the pool and terrace area. Comfortable bed and pillows. Dinner by the pool was excellent with lovely wait staff. Would stay again of course.
Review 97:No complaints at all, but driving and gaining access to garage bit scary streets so narrow, my partner drove, I definitely couldn't have done it. Might be good if hotel could offer if needed
Review 98:Very comfortable fabulous room hotel had many original features and right in centre of the historic area. The tapas bar was really great too. Staff very helpful.
Review 99:Dinner in restaurant was very poor, we were very disappointed; lazy cooking, expected much more. Do not recommend that you eat in the hotel.
Review 100:/great location in the old town, quiet peaceful, lovely historic building, reception staff excellent, lovely rooms.
Review 101:Paying €15 a night for parking in a tiny underground area that was very difficult to access. The municipal car park was far easier - and cheaper - to use.
Review 102:Beautiful renovated buildings form this boutique hotel in the heart of the old town. Very comfortable bed in a decent size room. Good, powerful shower but the bathroom layout could have been better. The courtyard is very pretty, with loungers and chairs around the pool and in the shade. One of the staff, Luis was a superstar. He was incredibly helpful and when we left got our car out of the car park in seconds, where it would have taken me forever!
Review 103:Leaving, that's all!
Review 104:We loved the beautiful historic building, with its elegant decor, quality furnishings and linens, and wonderful location. A delight to stay here. Staff were first class. The intimate restaurant served delicious and local foods, beautifully cooked and served. I loved everything about the hotel and highly recommend it to those who like interesting small hotels in delightful settings. We stayed low season (in a sunny March) and could therefore spend a little more on a suite, which I'd encourage others to do. Room 111 looked onto the courtyard, had a separate lounge with a comfy smart sofa, armchair and desk, and the large bathroom had a whirlpool bath. The bedroom was very pretty, spacious, with a comfy kingsize bed. Shuttered windows and cream curtains added to the style. A real treat to stay here. We lingered over drinks in the pretty shared lounge downstairs too. We really enjoyed the generous breakfast - masses of choice, and excellent coffees - and were sad to leave.
Review 105:The wifi was difficult to obtain. But there are terminals available inthe library
Review 106:The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was verycomfortable and I even had a private internal patio attached which wasvery nice. It was quiet and I had a good stay. I did not try thebreakfast or garage given other people´s comments and alternatives areeasy to find. Try the café on the corner of the Plaza de España forbreakfast and tapas
Review 107:Unfriendly reception. Swimming pool closed after 1.October although this was not mentioned on the website or on Booking.com.
Review 108:The restaurant: good food, service and nice ambiance.
Review 109:Finding the parking is an adventure you don't want to have. We were going from one tiny street to the next just to locate the parking, which is a street behind the hotel. A word of advice: ask the hotel which street you must exactly park and how best it is to reach it. Otherwise, you may have trouble finding the place. Another criticism is the breakfast. We did not eat there, but we peaked inside and saw only one couple sitting inside a very large room. You may want to spare the money (and the loneliness) and get a nice sandwich in the main plaza for far less money.
Review 110:The location of this hotel is second to none. The most important sites are within a walking distance. It is a very romantic place to stay. The staff are friendly. There is a nice bar attached to the hotel which was very cozy.
Review 111:Liked the hotel a lot, and so just make the following note: We gave facilities a good rating as we did not realise the restaurant would be shut and the pool was not as clean as it should be, otherwise, we would have given excellent rating.
Review 112:Clean property. Room very comfortable. Staff we dealt with in Reception and Bar very efficient and helpful. Bar food was good - interesting and varied. Pool was still open and set in a nice courtyard/terrace surroundings.
Review 113:Very difficult access for the car but we were provided with parking in the hotel garage
Review 114:The courtyard and patio by the pool is a wonderful venue for dinner. Dinner was good and the staff friendly.
Review 115:.Breakfast a bit pricey so we did not take it in the hotel-not that this was a problem really
Review 116:A stylish hotel in the old town that delivers everything to a high standard.Has good secure parking
Review 117:Nothing.
Review 118:We loved everything. The pool, gorgeous! The staff is amazing. My husband left his passport there and the concierge arranged a cab to Madrid to return it in time for our flight!!!!! The food is the best in town. The rooms are gorgeous. The location is perfect. Best hotel ever!!
Review 119:Nothing. Everything is perfect.
Review 120:We have stayed at this hotel several times and absolutely love it. The setting in the middle of the beautiful city of Baeza is unbeatable and the pool surrounded by orange trees is perfect. It manages to be utterly luxurious whilst remaining relaxed and unstuffy.
Review 121:Very relaxed and friendly. The hotel has retained much of the grandnessof its original 17th century mansion house. The pool and outside areaswere immaculate. Excellent value for money. It is located in the centreof the historic area of Baeza, very close the Cathedral and many of thebeautiful historic buildings. The staff were helpful and friendly andcould also speak some English which is great if you only speak a littleSpanish. Food was very good.
Review 122:Breakfast - water not hot enough to make tea. Hit and miss whether or not coffee was hot.
Review 123:Historic town, hotel well situated for exploring. Own underground car park. Helpful English-speaking staff.
Review 124:That the parking was a bit to expensive
Review 125:Very nice hotel built in an old building totally refurbished. The staff was very professional and helpfull. Rooms are quite big and the location is great
Review 126:Everything was fine
Review 127:Beautiful old building immaculately restored. Reception upgraded us to luxury suite at no cost. Relaxing on sunbeds around pool in theold courtyard after visiting the beautifill small city of Baeza, view of the dome tower and old roofs.
Review 128:pool was not accessable... closed because of pre booked function and when that was over at 6pm, the pool was very dirty and impossible to use. we arrived at 2pm wanted to have a quiet afternoon but room over looked tables for function with many children and impossible to rest!!
Review 129:beautiful hotel
Review 130:Hotel rooms were not four star, likely about a two star. Room prices are about 35% more than they are for similar hotels across Spain. Rooms were spartan, windows too small, tiny t.v.'s, cramped bathrooms with showers only. No parking available except for the hotel's for which you pay 15 euros overnight. Do yourself a favor and give this place a miss.
Review 131:Very little.
Review 132:Next to nothing.
Review 133:The hotel is wonderfully located in a beautiful small town, right next to the cathedral; it had cool, spacious rooms and a terrific courtyard with swimming pool. This is an 'upscale' location, but despite some comments on booking.com about the staff, we had nothing but nice experiences; upon leaving, we were spontaneously given details about our next location. The town of Baeza is small but nice; restaurant advice: El Torreon, Puerta de Ubeda; the lady owner will listen to your order, but then kindly and smilingly advise something different, and stick to the plan. Adds up to some wonderful culinary discoveries.
Review 134:The restaurant meal did not live up to expectations. The lubina as served, was not presented as it had been depicted on their web site and the sole, seemed to have been pan-fried, not griddled (a la plancha).
Review 135:General ambiance and location were very good.
The Fine Print
Please note that the restaurant is closed from January 7th until February 7th.
