Reviews for Les Remparts
Review 1:Poor breakfast, not value for money. Handheld shower in bath was hard to use, leaving just one hand free. Room took a day to warm up. No English TV, not even a news channel, not so important for holiday makers but we spend 10 months a year in hotels so we need something to watch to escape work.
Review 2:Lovely staff, very friendly and welcoming. Great location. Free parking was a nice surprise. Internet pretty good. Nice size room.
Review 3:More information on what is available at the restaurant...
Review 4:Lovely hotel in the old town. Very large room with nice view of the remparts. Could use a nice armchair in the large space of the room.
Review 5:We would have liked the wi-fi to work in our room and for the cost of the breakfast we were expecting something warm, it was more along the lines of a continental breakfast which are usually offered in the price of the room.
Review 6:We liked the location and the size of the room. The staff was very friendly.
Review 7:The noise of bins being emptied very early in the morning was terrible and the breakfast was mediocre and expensive. Had breakfast one morning and ate out the other two.
Review 8:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the position was great.
Review 9:At the time we stayed this "hotel" was acting as a B & B, the bar stayed closed at all times and the only food available was at breakfast time. The breakfast served by a very pleasant young lady was not value for money. Being woken at 04.30 by wheelie bins being moved was not good. The WiFi did not work everywhere as advertised, only in reception. No one in reception after 12.00 to 17.00 and closed again at 20.00.
Review 10:The location is excellent. The two reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 11:Parking is very difficult. It needs to be cl.ear what one has to do. It is best to park in one of the recommended car parks then walk to the hotel and get the free ticket.
Review 12:Good place to explore the old city, restaurant very good.
Review 13:poor internet reception
Review 14:Location was brilliant, room excellent and the decor in the hotel was very nice too - free parking pass in one of the car parks was a real added bonus
Review 15:Only minor complaint the promised water upon checking in was never offered & unavailable on request
Review 16:Location excellent. The restaurant staff were friendly, the food was very good & reasonably priced.
Review 17:Restaurant closed for kids return to school.
Review 18:Very friendly and helpful. Lent us a parking pass so that we could sightsee after checkout. Superb location just inside city walls and Tour Constance. Nicely modernised traditional French hotel.
Review 19:the room comes with parking outside in public parking. the hotel gives you card to the parking, but it is valid only until noon - we did not mind because we left to the next city by noon but bare this in mind
Review 20:the hotel is well situated at the entrance to the town. it is important because you need to park outside of the old city and walk with the luggage, but the distance is ~100 meter from the parking and it is ok and worth it, because the hotel is just inside the old city the staff was great and the facility is clean and very pretty - room was also great - clean, large windows with view to the walls we recommend this very much - not suitable if you do not want to walk with luggage or climb the 20 stairs to the second floor
Review 21:The staff is excellent and extremely friendly. They are very knowledgeable and helpful to explore the local area. The hotel is very child friendly. The atmosphere is very inviting and the hotel also hosts one of the best restaurants in town.
Review 22:me and my mum went for a girls night away and had the family room as it was two adjoining rooms. great for us and families, i am hoping to bring my kids next time. great room and two bathrooms!
Review 23:Lack of air con in the rooms, made them very hot.
Review 24:Lovely location and really nice decor. The owners were delightful. The restaurant provided the best meal we had in our three night stay. Overall a great place.
Review 25:Very strange checking in system. We arrived at 4.30 and the hotel was closed. We knew that checking was 5 to 8 pm but at 5.15 we had to phone a mobile number and the owner appeared 5 minutes later. No English TV channel, no teamaking facilities, no A/C and parking although free was a short walk away and exiting a bit confusing. Don't let any of this put you off, the hotel was an excellent choice
Review 26:The room was lovely and there was a huge bath with a separate loo, nice toiletries. Location, style and decor could not be beaten
Review 27:No A/C in the rooms we stayed in which was not ideal in the height of summer.
Review 28:Well located, very quiet and large spacious rooms. Lovely views of the walls and Constance tower.
Review 29:The room had no air conditioning, only a fan which didn't cool the room sufficiently. The bathroom had a strange smell which didn't seem to go away.
Review 30:The location of the hotel is great.
Review 31:fabulous stay (we went there for our wedding-anniversary, and it definitely did live up to the occasion). plan to have dinner at their restaurant, it's outstanding!
Review 32:No coffee maker in the room, and no minibar.
Review 33:A good size room in a hotel with loads of character. Very helpful staff who were very efficient in getting the TV working. Large windows which overlooked the remparts.
Review 34:Hotel claimed to have parking facilities. In fact the parking is outside the walls of Aigues Mortes in a public car park (though free of charge because of being a hotel resident), so baggage has to be carried quite a way. However, for me this was worth it for the excellence of the hotel.
Review 35:Quiet and really characterful hotel, a million miles away from the usual chain hotels.
Review 36:Friendliness of staff and owners, very good restaurant, nice rooms, nice location. Convenienant and free of charge parking space just outside of the city walls at 100m distance.
Review 37:Nothing - very lovely
Review 38:Location was perfect - we didn't have any trouble with uninterrupted sleep as some others reported. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely, parking was arranged a few hundred metres away, and staff were very helpful when my husband fell sick during our stay.
Review 39:A couple of light bulbs needed changing in our room, but I didn't mention it to the owners.
Review 40:Lovely room with view of the Tour Constance, paid for breakfast both mornings as it was very good, and pleasant to sit outside. Free parking just outside city walls. Would stay here again.
Review 41:Overpriced restaurant staffed by arrogant waiters who ignored dirty plates, empty glasses, looked down on us English and spent ages chatting to their French regulars. Steak not cooked as requested. 15 mins later returned but all vegetables now cold. Very poor.
Review 42:Fantastic location, well appointed room. Peace shattered at 6:00 by kitchen staff taking bottles outside and then the refuse vehicle collecting them.
Review 43:Being Americans it is not our favorite thing to shower without an enclosure. You have to been extra careful to keep water from going all over the place. Wish we could find shower curtains in Europe.
Review 44:The operators and staff are excellent and vary accommodating. The location is great. The value is very good. It was an all-around most enjoyable two night stay.
Review 45:only little problem is the beginning of the night because in summer the restaurant is under the room outside and there is some noise, but I repeat just in summer and if you close the window no problem.
Review 46:The stuff is very good, the lady owner is expecially very nice. in the room there was not fidge but I asked them and they keep my chees inside the main fridge of the hotel. this was a very nice thing
Review 47:No Air condition One Reception lady did not speak English Street below was noisy with service trucks early in the morning.
Review 48:Great location in the medieval city Very spacious room Fabulous décor Large public areas, nicely decorated Fabulous breakfast - rich and tasty Excellent service - we lost an iPhone and they gladly kept it for us for a few days till we picked it up. Our kids was soooo happy! Thanks! Spacious rooms, nicely styled. Recommended!
Review 49:The rooms could use some more armchair/seatings (We stayed in the family room)... No ironboard what so ever in the hotel... We had to iron on a towel directly to the floor
Review 50:Superb location, friendly staff and a magnificent breakfast on the terrace...
Review 51:very nice hotel very well located and staff was so kind
Review 52:Nothing
Review 53:The peacefulness, excellent staff, the excellent food and venue
Review 54:A bit disturbed by the noise from the bar outside on Saturday night.
Review 55:Good location, friendly staff, very spacious room.
Review 56:The location is perfect, with a beautiful city around. The hotel is a historical building which makes it special.
Review 57:good location ,large rooms
Review 58:No air con.
Review 59:No internet
Review 60:All!
Review 61:Location
Review 62:Location, large room with high ceilings and a charming view.
Review 63:Too much street noise
Review 64:The large bedroom
Review 65:Excellent location for visiting the city.
Review 66:Very funky décor.
Review 67:Excellent location,helpful staff
Review 68:Extremely small room. Our view of the street was actually a view of garbage cans.
Review 69:Good location.
Review 70:very well looked after, lovely big rooms. great location
Review 71:Within the old walls; huge room
Review 72:Breakfast was a disappointment consisting of a Baby Bell cheese and English Yoghurt - Certainly not Continental...
Review 73:No air conditioning
Review 74:Good location; great staff
Review 75:Location Separate bedrooms for family
Review 76:We had to haul our luggage up and down a flight of stairs.
Review 77:No air condition in the room & fan was broken
Review 78:Staff in the Restaurant were very good
Review 79:Within walking distance of everything. Good restaurant in the hotel and many others close by. Friendly staff, good breakfast.
Review 80:The architecture is awesome with thick stone walls, a wonderful stone staircase and great views of the ramparts. Staff are very helpful
Review 81:Nothing not to like here. Lovely old building beautifully refurbished and in a great position within the walls but also very well insulated from Ny noise outside.
Review 82:Very pleasant and helpful staff. I was at the end of a cycling trip and when I asked if I could store my bicycle somewhere they immediately told me to put it in the restaurant no problem. Stall and owners extremely polite and nothing too much trouble.
Review 83:Nothing is bad.
Review 84:We had been given a larger room when our room was not ready when we arrived. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. There were staffs who helped us with our baggages. Our room has a very nice view as it was facing the Tour Constance (Room 11). I will definitely return to this hotel if I visit Aigues-Mortes again.
Review 85:Bathroom & toilet require some maintenance attention. No shower curtain/screen No wall bracket for shower
Review 86:Excellent bed comfort Tea making facilities but tea provided dreadful! Good size room Great historical building nicely modernised
Review 87:Totally charming and helpful staff. Spacious bedroom Lovely decor. Excellent views of ramparts and tower. Very good continental breakfast, fresh fruit, fresh bread and freshly squeezed orange juice
Review 88:The breakfast - it was ok but we were missing some sausage and more cheese...
Review 89:It'a a very nice hotel in the old quarter of AIGUES-MORTES - it seems a little castle....the rooms are very big, full-equipped and the service is excellent. We will sure repeat.
Review 90:The WC was not clean in one of the rooms and the dust was visible in certain parts of the room. But we signaled the problem of the WC and the owner inmediatly cleaned and appologise.
Review 91:The owner proposed a better room for us (2 adults and 4 kids) for the same price because was more confortable
Review 92:Lack of tea/coffee facilities Difficult parking at busy times Little English spoken at times
Review 93:Traditional feel of rooms with modern twist Friendly staff Adjoining restaurant
Review 94:It was all closed up. Had to try and find parking which took an hour to achieve. When trying to check in..no staff ,just a phone number to contact. When we eventually did this the key had been left outside for us. No bar and the restaurant was closed. Certainly not a 3star and only a room not a hotel. Shockingly overpriced considering. Will never return to this hotel as there are many other good ones in the city.
Review 95:It's position was good. The breakfast was very good.
Review 96:Broken nights because of incredibly noisy rubbish collections in the hours of darkness and early in the morning - there were three in one night, all involving the crashing of loads of bottles - just under our window. Aigues-Mortes is a quiet place at night, so the sound was deafening. This is not the hotel's fault, but maybe local hoteliers should press for collections at a civilised hour, as we lost a lot of sleep during our 3-night stay - and we could not have been the only ones.
Review 97:The owner, Thomas, was very welcoming. The hotel is charming and in a great location. Breakfast was excellent value. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Review 98:having to park in public car park outside the ramparts tho understand part of the charm of aigues-mortes is that it is so pedestrianised.
Review 99:friendly staff, very clean, sophisticated bed and bath
Review 100:Air-con in high summer would be good, although a fan is provided.Breakfast a bit pricy at 10 euro per head per day, so we got ourown instead.
Review 101:Aigues-Mortes is a lovely place to visit. We have been before andenjoyed strolling about the walled town and eating at the restaurants onthe square. A two mile drive to the coast at Le Grau du Roi brought usto a colony of flamingoes.
Review 102:The lack of air conditioning, the rather 'spartan' furnishings and the fact it was invariably 'challenging' to access staff, who were charming but often 'missing.'
Review 103:The restaurant , which was excellent, the location next to the ramparts and inside the town and the size of the room..
Review 104:Staff was nice but not always around. Our room was very noisy as we wereabove their restaurant. We moved to another room and heard all thegarbage being haiuled around. At breakfast I could not get at espressoeven though someone next to us had one. ? If you don't speak French, don't stay here. Tv gets limited channels most are blocked.
Review 105:Staff was nice.
Review 106:It was all pretty good. There was no air-con and the tales in the restaurant below the windows do cause noise, so some would be reluctant to open them for air. The high ceilings did help with coolness. It is useful to know to park in the carpark to the left of the main gates you approach the old town (rather than the short stay carpark on the right) - as the hotel can then provide a 'resident's pass' for free parking.
Review 107:Positioned inside the walls of Aigues-Mortes, almost within the shadow of Tour Constance in a historic building with grand staircase and hallway. We had a huge room (Room 4) with huge windows to match giving a view of the Tour, Remparts and main gate, and overlooking the tables of the restaurant (all outside in July). Plenty of space for additional seating, which would have been nice. Tea and a kettle (no coffee or milk) were in the room. We had a decent sized bathroom and a separate loo. Aigues Mortes has some beautiful spots - intact fortifications, narrow streets, interesting shops and café & restaurant filled squares - hence tere were also plenty of tourists (mainly French, few British or American).
Review 108:Staff not speaking english (only the owner was) but just french No airconditioning Breakfast served only after 8am Bathroom in the second roomvery small
Review 109:Location Spacious family suite (could accomodate easily up to 5) Beds(large and good matresses) Nice furniture wc separate from bathroomsNot formal
Review 110:It is not a fault but the arrangements for parking involve acquiring a card from reception before using the metered car park outside the city gate although this is on 100 metres or so.
Review 111:Charming Hosts Thomas and Karen. The hotel is neat and tidy with restaurant offering excellent locally sourced ingredients from a short well chosen menu which is good value for money. Thomas was very attentive and provides sound advice both on the food and the wine lists. I would have no hesitation returning to this delightful hotel.
Review 112:location close to outside public parking, small hotels I prefer
Review 113:As it was off season restaurant was closed on 3 days - would really have liked to have eaten there more.
Review 114:Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Review 115:magnifique hotel repas excelent
Review 116:Only two small towels, no shower just tub
Review 117:Loved the hotel! Beautiful large rooms, very romantic!
Review 118:Lack of parking
Review 119:Location, historic feel to the ace
Review 120:Air-con in summer months would be good
Review 121:Good location, room very clean, helpful staff. Excellent restaurant
Review 122:terrible parking arrangements
Review 123:not A full shower in bathroom
Review 124:location. patron.
Review 125:Beautiful location inside the rampart. Good view of ramparts from bedroom window. Convenient to all of village and waterways.
