Reviews for Parador de Plasencia

Review 1:Allowing a car to park opposite the car lift makes it extremely difficult to exit the car park without damage. Tried to be too clever with the food preparation and managed to ruin a good meal.

Review 2:Location

Review 3:In common with all Spanish hotels, no tea/coffee in rooms and impossible to get food in the evening before 9pm

Review 4:Superb room with large bathroom General ambiance Historic aspect Bar menu very good and quality high

Review 5:Disappointed with breakfast. For example, fruit not prepared correctly and no Muesli available. Some noise from fellow guests late evening, revealed poor room sound insulation.

Review 6:A very comfortable bed and well equipped room. The Interior has been beautifully modified to create a fascinating hotel. Delicious and well prepared dinner in the "Refectory" restaurant.

Review 7:The only downside was the parking. It is via a car lift but the length of our vehicle made it impossible to get round the tight angle into the lift. We therefore had to leave it in a street a fair way from the hotel.

Review 8:Fabulous Paradores in a stunning setting. Possibly one of the best of the many we have stayed in over the years.

Review 9:Poor greeting from reception staff, miserable dark rooms (ground floor) with poly sheets and sewage smells. Awful breakfast.

Review 10:Apart from the location, not much I'm afraid.

Review 11:The information about the hotel was very misleading. For instance, it said there was parking, but we were only told at check-in abut the 16 euro fee for parking. The staff were either rude or not well trained. The decor was faked, such as painted "crown moldings". That is the crown molding was just paint, not that there was paint on the crown molding.

Review 12:The lighting in the bedroom was inadequate and I could have done with more instructio on how to use the air conditioning although I did arrive very late (11pm).

Review 13:Themagnificent building was superbly, sympathetically and tastefully converted. The staff aimed to please.

Review 14:The reception staff were unfriendly and most unhelpful. On arrival we were left to struggle getting our luggage from the underground car park to our room on the 2nd floor, only to find that the 2nd floor is split and we had to go in 2 separate lifts to get there (with all our luggage) - none of the staff offered to help! Eventually arrived in our room to find it stifling - at this time of year (early May) - the option is either heating on or heating off - even with it off, the room was very hot. Apparently its too early for the AC - even though the temperature was 25 degrees +. The wi-fi is free but is almost useless - only able to get it in certain parts of the room and then it cut out almost immediately. The lift into and out of the car park is not for the faint-hearted!! We had a medium sized car and it was very tight!. No food available in the evenings before 9 pm! No breakfast available before 8.30 am. The hotel and its services are designed for Spanish tourists only. I would certainly not stay again and would not advise any of my friends to do so.

Review 15:The building was wonderful - and beautifully furnished and kept. It would have been nice to have received some background to the history of the property.

Review 16:What we really did not like were the exhaust emissions in the stairway that diffused from the underground parking. Once we even recognised it in our room. This could easily be prevented by closing the door of that underground parking.

Review 17:The room was very comfortable and large. We had a small balkony to the inner backyard which was very beautiful. Although the hotel is located very central of the historic center it is very quite, especially at night-time. The breakfast was very good, with fresh fruits.

Review 18:Parador should provide free Wi-Fi. It was available in Hondarribia.

Review 19:The orange trees in the town squares and friendly people in the shops. Lovely Parador building.

Review 20:None.

Review 21:Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Ate in the restaurant which was exceptional. Suggest listening to the Head waiter as his suggestions were spot on. Excellent room with period features and comfy bed.

Review 22:Car parking using the lift not ideal. Place is like a maize with no signs to assist exit to reception or street. Would not stay there again.

Review 23:Food and restaurant service very good. Overall nothing special for the price.

Review 24:Can't think of anything.

Review 25:Beautifully restored, historic building. Tranquil surroundings, yet very close to vibrant town centre. I was travelling by motorcycle, so private parking was important.

Review 26:When arriving at the hotel you have to unload your family and belongings at reception and then drive back out and park the car in a rather cosy underground and thankfully secure car park. I had the unfortunate experience whilst taking our belonging up to our rooms that some ***** smashed my car door window..... this is a note of caution but shouldn’t put you off this beautiful hotel.

Review 27:Stunning location steeped in history, helpful friendly staff, characterful bedrooms set in former monastery.

Review 28:The limited parking.

Review 29:The Parador is totally authentic and right in the heart of the old town, but if you're driving and your vehicle is on the large side be prepared to have to park elsewhere, as their car park is accessed via a car lift that a hatch back would find snug.

Review 30:We only found cafe/bars nearby. OK for us at the time but not if you wanted a proper meal with an extended menu

Review 31:The beautiful bedroom. The architecture and decoration which displayed the history of the building to it's best.

Review 32:Everything

Review 33:Relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere... Wonderful food and choice of dining experience.

Review 34:Dinner. Main course was loin of pork raw in the middle..

Review 35:Underground parking

Review 36:The parking arrangement was confusing for me. It would be nice to have valet and baggage services.

Review 37:very confortable

Review 38:Fantastic Parador. Location excellent.

Review 39:Fabulous building. Amazing dining room with good food

Review 40:Lack of access to the Internet in the room (102). Hardly surprising given the thickness of the walls.

Review 41:It is simply a beautiful place to stay.

Review 42:In the whole length of our stay we only saw one member of staff smile!

Review 43:Beautiful building furnished with antiques

Review 44:Everything, staff very pleasant and helpful

Review 45:Room smelled of cigarette smoke Restaurant not particularly good

Review 46:The reception staff could of been a little more welcoming

Review 47:Beautiful and value for money

Review 48:Nothing

Review 49:To stay in a beautiful old building with such history... Beautiful restaurant and cafe onsite.

Review 50:Excellent property. Like living in a museum

Review 51:Beautiful hotel

Review 52:Rooms are a bit old fashioned but functional.

Review 53:Spectacular position

Review 54:Very good restrauant and staff

Review 55:Habitación apretada y oscura. El desayuno es muy caro y no merece la pena.

Review 56:Localizacion y decoración

Review 57:WI-FI NOT WORKING WELL.

Review 58:Prices of dinner expensive bit worth it. Privé of breakfast (18€ pp) far too high and not worth it.

Review 59:Beautiful location and very friendly staff.

Review 60:Well organized parking, Beautifiully restared convent, Very comfortable rooms in a great athmosphere. Location close to center.

Review 61:The access to the garage is difficult for a large car.

Review 62:A nice dinner in a fabulous " refectorio".TT

Review 63:Food and hospitality in bar were very good. Nice large room in historic setting. Secure car parking really useful.

Review 64:Everything was good and the place itself was just lovely. Would go back again.

Review 65:Reception Staff was not friendly.

Review 66:Restaurant and Restaurant Staff were Exceptional.

Review 67:You cannot close the only Bar you have on a Saturday Night.

Review 68:The location.

Review 69:Great atmosphere feature room good history. Food fair but at a reasonabe price

Review 70:Parking the car at £13 was a bit expensive.

Review 71:We are staying there again in october. Enough said..!

Review 72:The pillows

Review 73:Nice rooms

Review 74:Gardens were very run down, its obviously a difficult time in Spain, and I expect staff have been run down for the non essentials that are out of season.

Review 75:Normal standard of a good Paradore.

Review 76:Minor fault but at this price range it seemed rather silly to charge extra for Internet access especially when just about all other much lower priced accommodations in Spain offer free Internet access.

Review 77:A wonderful retreat in medieval setting. Top accommodations in fantastic surroundings.

Review 78:The parador was absolutely beautiful and historical. The personnel was gracious and professional. Our room was beautiful. It was such a special experience being able to spend time in such an important monument.

Review 79:Car park is hard to find. There are signs but you only see them after you have got lost in the maze of back streets, most of which are one way. Not that keen on car parks with car lifts personally!

Review 80:Beautiful old building, sensitively restored, right in the centre of town. Excellent restaurant, if a bit pricey.

Review 81:N/A

Review 82:The parador, like the old town in which it is located, is beautiful. It was originally a 15th century convent and has been wonderfully restored and is filled with many old artifacts. It was truly a memorable stay there.

Review 83:The room windows were very small (understandably as this was a convent), but it did make the room feel claustrophobic.

Review 84:The swimming pool was good. The staff were helpful but cool.

Review 85:Difficult to find at night. Some of the problem, however was due to Tom Tom sending us half way up a mountain! When we did eventually arrive at the parador we were redirected outside the city wall to the parking. Although it is part of the parador, access is not through the front entrance. Would be easy to find in daylight, as well signposted. Worth the effort in the end!

Review 86:The parador was beautiful. We have stayed in many pousadas in Portugal, but this was our first visit to a parador. The staff were very helpful and one young male staff member insisted on showing us to our room, explaining different areas of the parador on the way. Our room was lovely. It was spacious with a separate seating area. We ate in the restaurant and had a good meal, although as we were late arriving at the parador we felt rather rushed. Our visit to the Night Bar was a great experience and I had the best gin and tonic ever! Mixed at the table by the cocktail waiter was a true revelation as to how a gin and blue tonic should be prepared. Plasencia is beautiful and we had a lovely breakfast in the main square.

Review 87:Absolutely nothing!

Review 88:Wow. All I can say is this Parador exceeded every expectation we had. Its location is fabulous, the facilities are nearly unbeatable. Just walking around inside the facility is enough to keep you interested let alone the very Scenic and historical town it is at the center of. Our room looked out to the pool area and garden and was outstanding.

Review 89:The food in the restaurent was not up to standard. That was disappointing. There are lots of good restaurent just a 10 min walk away.

Review 90:As with most Paradors, this is à stunning building, perfectly and tastefully refourbished. Very relaxing environment in which to spend a night or two.

Review 91:Pool was very small and only opened at 11.00 am each morning. Receptionstaff unwilling to speak Spanish even though we have lived and worked inSpain for 10 years and are completely fluent.

Review 92:Good location.

Review 93:Parking. It should be included in the price. we would have paid it anyway, but it is hard to drive and park in the city and it was annoying that there was a "surcharge" for parking.

Review 94:The dining experience was fabulous. Great food and wait staff superb.

Review 95:The Parador is magical. To think you're sleeping in what used to be amonk's cell in the XVth or XVIth century! The staff were very friendlyand helpful, and the food in the restaurant and bar was excellent. Thebeauty of the Parador is indescribable, and being such a small town, everything is within a few minutes' walk. I will definitely return.

Review 96:This is probably the worst Parador I have stayed in (out of 11). Whilst all of the amenities are as one would expect, the room was very dark and not that private, with immediate access to public areas via glass door, meaning curtains shut all the time. The staff were just OK but seemed to find it diffcult to cope with the number of guests, which may have been a factor of Santa Semana, rather than a general shortcoming. I did not like that so much of the Parador was open to the general public, which made it seem busy & crowded. Breakfast was poorer than I would have expected.

Review 97:Location is excellent, garage is useful and all amenities are what one would expect of a Parador. Garden is pleasant and pool would be useful at a warmer time of the year. Our room was large and well furnished.

Review 98:No tea/coffee facilities in room.

Review 99:The position was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was beautiful

Review 100:Garage is a disgrace, dangerous, unreliable and means we can never stay there again!

Review 101:Wonderful building

Review 102:Medieval setting. Good location. Very professional staff. Pool to relax in on a hot afternoon.

Review 103:Pool useless

Review 104:Not much.

Review 105:Good snacks in the bar. The pool was open in May when many of the other Paradores don't open the pool until 1 June.

Review 106:Lovely parador with big comfortable rooms. Parking is quite an experience and costs extra, but it works.

Review 107:it would be better for those with cars to be directed to the garage & not main entrance

Review 108:the whole atmosphere of the place

Review 109:No hot drink facilities in bedrooms

Review 110:The experience

Review 111:everything!

Review 112:The Parador is beautiful and the staff is very helpful. We enjoyed very much the dinner at their restaurant.

Review 113:Could have used more help on using the computer

Review 114:Great atmosphere

Review 115:Just a lovely place to spend a few days.

Review 116:dinner.

Review 117:the breakfast. the scenary. Spacious rooms, conform with the midevil style of the castle.

Review 118:Not particularly impressed with the town. One night there was enough.

Review 119:Ideal location for en route stop .

Review 120:Nothing to complain.

Review 121:Excellent hotel with an outstanding building and interior.

Review 122:everything
