Reviews for Hotel Alfonso VIII De Cuenca
Review 1:There was not elevator from reception flat.
Review 2:Communication style of personel, specially on reception was exellent. The location of hotel also was exellent
Review 3:Reception area a little tired and uninspiring and belies what lies beyond. Many rooms face each other as hotel is built in a square and it may be a little echoey in the summer
Review 4:Location of hotel is excellent, at the foot of the old town and within short strolling distance of all restaurants and shops in new town. Hotel restaurant very good, breakfast a little pricey but two price choices for fixed evening menus. Excellent views from rooftop restaurant.
Review 5:the one bad experience was that we had to come home :-)
Review 6:The Hotel was right outside a small park and only a minutes walk to the old town and 5 minuts walk to the Bus/Train station.
Review 7:Printed information received from reception informed the restaurant opened at 20.30 for the evening meal. When we arrived at 20.30 the waitress took us to the lift took out the menu from the wall folder and the sheet underneath revealed the opening time was 21.00. At 21.00 we were told some of the options were not available and others written on the menu in front of us. One member of the party had Rabbit and when it came it was almost cold and had no potato or other vegetables, rice or pasta. A second member of the party had trout which was returned as it was not cooked. The trout also came on its own, without vegetables etc. My steak came with French fries and was fine. Online the restaurant offered a 12 Euro menu and a 16 Euro menu but when we were given the menu at the restaurant all three copies of menus only had the 16 Euro menu and we had to ask for the 12 Euro menu. Breakfast was much better.
Review 8:Well located hotel, good accommodation, friendly helpful reception staff, clean rooms.
Review 9:Compared to other places we stayed in on same trip, this hotel was expensive for what it provided.
Review 10:Stayed here on cycling trip. Clean hotel. Very comfortable room. Breakfast in top floor conservatory with view of old city.
Review 11:Paper thin walls! By far the noisiest Hotel we have ever stayed in . Doors banging , toilets and showers, you can here everything! None of the staff spoke any English
Review 12:Shower was good and location , the view from Restaurant is Amazing!
Review 13:sat at terrace restaurant for over 20 minutes trying to get lunch at 3:30 PM, we and several other tables were ignored by too-few servers, we and several other tables gave up and went elsewhere. Breakfast buffet was good though, great view of town.
Review 14:good location near many restaurants and bars, easy walk uphill to hanging houses and old town, free weekend parking next to the park in front of hotel
Review 15:No free wifi. Difficult to park car, you need to drive around to find a space then feed the meter.
Review 16:For the money paid, this met the requirement for a simple overnight stay. Did not use restaurant so cannot comment on food.
Review 17:The bed was very hard and the pillow almost non existing
Review 18:The quiet location and the nice view of the park. Close to the old town and the train station.
Review 19:Super location - the very heart of the city. Very good quality / price ratio. RECOMMEND! Super lokalizacja - samo centrum miasta. Bardzo dobry stosunek jakość/cena. POLECAM!
Review 20:Far too much bedding. We had to remake the beds because of totally unsuitable duvets.
Review 21:The restaurant with its view from the roof, though a bit expensive at weekends. Efficient lifts.
Review 22:front desk is like that of a hostel with a tiny lobby area and one girl behind a tiny counter. Restaurant was absolute disaster, food was freezing cold, every single dish! I had one dish off the menu del dia and when I finished my husband got his meal, then when he finished his I got my next meal , then 20 minutes later they gave me another main course, which again was freezing. quality of the food was disgusting as well, a lump of frozen cod which seemed still uncooked and watery and cold. never stay here again.
Review 23:location was quite okay
Review 24:Car parking is a problem.
Review 25:Very convenient location close to all of the main attractions and facilities.

Review 44:the staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 45:There was no shelf in the bathroom to pt anything
Review 46:The size of room and bathroom. The room was overlooking the gardens opposite.
Review 47:Seventh floor terrace restaurant
Review 48:Lack of info to hotel & parking. One way streets around hotel are difficult to maneuver by car.
Review 49:View from La terraza restaurant
Review 50:First of all. I understand that it is just a three stars hotel. So the facilities are not truely thoughtful. But the view and the price are the reasons for choosing.
Review 51:Great location. fantastic view. Great breakfast. But still. It is just a three stars hotel.
Review 52:Restaurant was spoiled because it was not open. The windows are a nuisance. It could be really fantastic but was not! The view from our room was terrible! (406)
Review 53:The wide corridors. The room was o.k.
Review 54:We didn't have breakfast there, so we cannot say what it's like.
Review 55:Restaurant on top floor (7th) with good food for reasonable price and amazing view on the town of Cuenca. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Very nice, clean, spacious room. Clean, spacious and functional bathroom, complete of all possible toiletries and even a bidet.
Review 56:The room was cold At night even with the heater on. The bed mattress had a cigarette burn. The other room visitors were noisy and you could also hear the next room talk.
Review 57:Location and view from TVE restaurant.
Review 58:There is nothing not to like.
Review 59:The hotel offered Old-style Spanish charm with modern facilities. The hotel was excellently placed for sight-seeing and the car poarking couldn't be simpler - valet parking!
Review 60:No on site parking, but there is a car park a short distance away. If you pay at the hotel you get it a bit cheaper.
Review 61:The food and views from the restaurant very good. The location was good for walking around.
Review 62:Busy road with nightclub and taxi rank outside. Quite a walk up to the old town and very small and not much happening when we got there. Preferred Alburracin town which was so interesting.
Review 63:Very spacious room. Parked just outside at no cost. Excellent restaurants very close by. Check in staff brilliant.
Review 64:Nothing remarkable. Reception staff gave an access code for wifi which did not work. Later we found out from another staff that wifi was down. Poor communication. wasted half hour of my time n nashing of teeth.
Review 65:Adequate
Review 66:evening menu was not displayed before restaurant opened (lunchtime menu always on view!) We did not receive our requested early wake up call !!!
Review 67:Situated near centre of town overlooking a park near pleasant places to sit for evening drinks.Near bus stop for access to old Cuenca. Excellent views from terrace restaurant.
Review 68:On the downside of things: no cafeteria service, no facilities for making tea or any such thing.
Review 69:It is a refurbished hotel and rather comfortable. Very clean and well kept. We ate at the La Terraza restaurant most days, and it was very good, staff at the restaurant friendly and helpful
Review 70:The welcome at the reception was very nice, we got all the information how to get best to the old town. The room was quiet and modern, the bathroom excellent. The breakfast was good with an excellent voew over the town and the area. The distance from the bas and old train station is acceptable and it was walkable for us in about 10 - 15 minutes.
Review 71:The Tourist office should update the information about the walking routes and information about the public transport possibilities.
Review 72:Good location and excellent lunch with very good wine.
Review 73:Far too Noisy Restaurant staff Talking Loudly crashing pans and platesand moving trolleys on floor above. Guests walking and talking loudly onstupid wooden floors in hallways. Doors banging loudly. All wi-ficonnections would not work at all after connecting to the modem it saidthe ip was not active. Glad to leave and never return.
Review 74:Inspite of being told there was private parking available on my special request, there was no such thing. This caused a great deal of agro, trying to find a car park nearby on a busy Saturday morning. We could not get anywhere near the hotel to park to book in and eventually found a public car park half a mile from the hotel. Would you please ensure that when a hotel describes parking that it does in fact have facilities as we rely on having a safe place for our car, it is most important when travelling back and forward to the UK.
Review 75:Staff. Room and bathroom. Rooftop dining room.Position in the town. Good budget hotel.
Review 76:The room was on the 6th floor and below the restaurant on the 7th floor. A lot of noise, scraping of tables and chairs, people talking coming from the restaurant in the evening dinner and morning breakfast times. Probably wouldn't stay in this hotel again.
Review 77:The location of the Hotel was good. Located near the shopping area but also within walking distance from the historical part of the town. Also seemed to be plenty of buses and taxis.
Review 78:Everything especially the location
Review 79:Poor bathroom facilities

Review 81:We were two people and they only put one towel in the bathroom.
Review 82:Room very clean and nice views.
Review 83:The parking around the park is always a worry and you have to register early next morning to book a place.
Review 84:Everything was satisfactory.
Review 85:The receptionist we first met. To long work pass perhaps?
Review 86:The view from the junior suite.
Review 87:The views from the restaurant at the top.
Review 88:Location is excellent in the heart of the town.
