Reviews for Hôtel Saint Louis
Review 1:Breakfast wasn't much, over-priced for what we were offered.
Review 2:Location was so convenient for seeing sights and restaurants. The city is very interesting.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Location, Attentive helpful knowledgeable staff, private enclosed parking garage, clean quiet air conditioned room with attractive updated wash room and toilet closet... everything!
Review 5:No negative experiences whatsoever
Review 6:The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was not noisy and conveniently close to the main restaurant and tourist centre of the town.
Review 7:Thankyou to barbara and her husband a great hotel and a perfect time of the year to visit this stunning historic village. Location amazing and a bonus with parking on site.
Review 8:On the morning that I left I was coming out of the bathroom and the door came off of its hinges. In an attempt to keep it from falling on my sleeping wife I stepped in front of it and the bottom of the door smashed my big toe. I blame it on a classic old building. We otherwise loved the room.
Review 9:Great Location. Will stay on the island next time. Nice helpful people. Close to multiple great restaurants.
Review 10:Wifi was not working properly. Free Parking could be a problem in high season (due to the position inside the ancient walls). The free one is around 15 minutes far from the hotel (walking).
Review 11:Very good the atmosphere inside the medieval Village. Room for 4 people on the top is a great option for families. Kids have breakfast buffet for free.
Review 12:The only thing we did not like has nothing to do with the hotel itself, but with the bad behaviour of the local police. Since the hotel is situated within the city walls, the traffic sign at the main city gates (entrance into the historical core) prohibits all non-resident vehicles to enter it. We did not know what to do, since the hotel parking was reserved, and I got out of the vehicle and went to the hotel to get the directions about this parking puzzle. While I was away on this mission (some 10 minutes), my friend was in the car that were halted in the vicinity of the parking lot near the entrance, but he could not park the car as the parking lot was full. Then a police patrol appeared all of a sudden (later we learned that the police station is just near the main city gates) and started to harass him by threatening to take away his documents, his car keys and so on. Although he said that we were looking for the hotel parking in Saint Louis hotel, they ignored his explanation. Such harassment went beyound a possible fine for not parking on the right place (he did not park at all, but waited with a turned-on motor for me to come back). Luckily, the group of older local men who were sitting on a bank near the city gates watched what happened and intervened with the police by telling them to leave my friend alone and to stop harassing him. Upon this intervention, the police forced my friend to enter the parking lot although there was no empty parking lots. This police behaviour is simply unforgivable - unlike us, they knew that the hotel guest have the right to enter the area within the historic city, and instead of being tolerant to the tourists coming from afar, not to mention that they could have offered us instructions how to reach the hotel inside, they chose to demonstrate force, arrogance and bullying. Shame on them, and shame on the tourist board of Aigues-Mortes, who allow the city police to mistreat the tourists in such a way!
Review 13:Great setting within the rampars of Aigues-Mortes, with a beautiful view on one of the towers. The room was air-conditioned although it was not in its description. The staff was very friendly, the receptionist spoke English, which is a real rarity in France. The hotel provided for us a parking place within its garage. We had breakfast in a beautiful inner yard, which we admired a lot. I really recommend this hotel for anybody who visits Aigues-Mortes.
Review 14:Initial reluctance to serve us a drink in the walled garden. All tables were understandably laid for dinner but they were very quiet and we were hotel guests and had not just walk ins. I felt that the restuarant was a separate business which is fine. However the initial reluctance would have upset some guests.
Review 15:Walled garden.
Review 16:Very convenient location once you find your way into the town. GPS is recommended.
Review 17:Parking and breakfast were both quite expensive
Review 18:THE ROOM AND BATHROOM WERE QUITE SPACIOUS COMPARED TO MANY OTHER HOTELS VERY PEACEFUL
Review 19:Problem with hot water first day
Review 20:Position without traffic
Review 21:This is a very tired hotel, past its heyday. We would not choose to have an evening meal here again.
Review 22:Location inside the wall is great.
Review 23:Aigues-Mortes is a great location and the Saint Louis is close to the main square without being noisy.
Review 24:spacious room, help with luggage, lovely breakfast room ,and a friendly lift to the station in inclement weather
Review 25:very basic/barren bedroom
Review 26:The hotel has beautiful atmosphere and location. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Review 27:Friendly and very helpful owner, good location, lovely courtyard dining room
Review 28:Great location, right in the middle of Aigues-Mortes and perfect for their medieval festival. Beautiful building with lots of character.
Review 29:Bathroom was only sparsely furnished (no hairdryer, no towel rail for the basin)
Review 30:Location and beautiful internal garden
Review 31:Good position, the staff is very kind and room are quiet.
Review 32:Location
Review 33:No option to ask for a room at a lower level. My husband doesn't walk well and it was a struggle for him to climb the very steep stairs. Access to wi-fi was advertised as being available in all areas but, in fact, it was not strong enough either in our room or on the patio.
Review 34:The rooms were comfortable, well decorated and air conditioned. Guests have access to a very pretty patio which I used a fair amount.
Review 35:This is not our first stay in Aigues Mortes and to be honest the SaintLouis comes at the bottom of our list of hotels. The evening menu waslimited and uninspiring. The parking is more suited to smaller vehiclesand is not possible to access when the adjoining restaurants have theirtables set in the street. It is also more expensive than using thepublic car parks just outside the walls (other hotels offer a voucherfor free parking in the public parking). We had two rooms and in neitherroom was there sufficient water pressure for a shower, I gave up in theend, at one point there was a gurgling noise as the shower started tosuck air in instead of letting water out! Not sure if it was just a badday but the receptionist was decidedly frosty.
Review 36:Good Location in the town centre, just off the main square. Pleasantterrace area for breakfast.
Review 37:Though it was stated that there was no air conditioning, the room was very hot during summer nights, and street facing rooms will be subject to significant noise during night. Would pay more for an air conditioned room.
Review 38:Perfect location within the walls of Aigues Mortes - ideal for visiting all of the surrounding sites
Review 39:Unfortunately the roadside apartments can be very noisy. First the garbage truck and then the street sweeper (twice) very early in the morning. Suggest you opt for the rooms on the garden side. Apart from that pleasant stay
Review 40:Hotel was very well located and quite comfortable. We had a room with a small terrace overlooking the street
Review 41:Can't fault it, they were very helpful and professional.
Review 42:The ambiance that combines modern facilities within an elegant 18t century building. Very stylish, charming and welcoming.
Review 43:1) Accueil désagréable. 2) Chambre située dans l'annexe, près cuisine, difficile d'accès et très quelconque (WC fuyant à l'exterieur, pas de paredouche, aération bruyante)
Review 44:Its location.
Review 45:We were a little sorry not to have been able to eat in the restaurant asit was one of its closed days. But the town had planty of choice within200m so no problem really.
Review 46:The very best location right inside this totally walled medieval townand with parking for the car !
Review 47:No air conditioning - essential during the height of summer. It was 37degrees outside and the small, cheap, noisy solitary fan they suppliedwas ineffectual. Also bathroom left much to be desired. Formica tops andwash basin even! On chipboard looked cheap and are a health hazard. Noshower curtain and shower unit was poor quality. It appeared as thoughthe hotel was being run on the cheap. The waiters in the restaurant wereadolescent boys, badly dressed. The breakfast which cost 10 euros wasvery poor and mean. The parking on site cost 12 euros. However, it ischeaper to park outside in the car park. This I found odd. It shouldhave been the other way round, or free.
Review 48:Attractive, well-placed building with character.
Review 49:We were a bit disappointed with the quality of the breakfast, we thoughtit a bit overpriced for what we got, compared with other places.
Review 50:Our night at the Hotel Saint Louis was excellent. It is well located inthe old town, just a few metres from the main square. And of an evening, when the bulk of tourists departed for the day, it was a delight to beable to walk around; likewise in the morning. The rooms were generous, beds comfortable. The staff were most helpful. We would certainly stayhere again; oh on-site parking too was appreciated, but book in advanceas spaces are limited.
Review 51:Rooms could need a freshen up
Review 52:The hotel is located in the very centre of Aigues-Mortes. The reception looks very nice and the room was OK. The bathroom was huge. The wifi connection was good and complimentary for the guests
Review 53:A really classy place that made staying a night special. The room was big and light and comfortable and the bathroom spacious and convenient for a family with little kids. It was quiet at night, also a big plus. The breakfast buffet is nice too. Also very well located within the citadel, which makes exploring everything by foot really easy. Make sure to ask for a parking space as space is scarce in Aigues-Mortes. The owners are very professional and friendly.
Review 54:To be right in the centre of the medieval town
Review 55:Breakfast poor and expensive. For 10eur/peson i would expect more
Review 56:Location location location
Review 57:Excellent Location. Quality boutique hotel with lots of character. Looking forward to our next visit!
Review 58:very poor ,very hot room with no a/c and little ventilation, far too expensive
Review 59:good location
Review 60:No air condition. Hot not alle to steep at all.
Review 61:Nice roms.
Review 62:Navigating the narrow one way streets to find the hotel.
Review 63:I liked that it was located within Aigues-Mortes' Forteress. The restaurent is excellent.
Review 64:Proximity to restaurants and shopping.
Review 65:No tea/coffee making facilities. Fridge was rusty. No parking. Very noisy. Restaurant closed
Review 66:The restaurant was far below the standards you come to expect in France.
Review 67:Proximaty to the town of Argues Mortes.
Review 68:Very friendly staff, nice breakfast area and breakfast, clean and well stocked room, accessibility to town and activities.
Review 69:The hotel is just lovely, very pleasing to the eye. The decor andfabrics are just delightful.
Review 70:No lift. Not a problem for us, but might be for others
Review 71:Staff very friendly and helpful Great location
Review 72:Bed was too short and too small (140 cm only).
Review 73:Staff and location.
