Reviews for La Casona de Yaiza
Review 1:Would have loved coffee making facility in room (and use of a fridge somewhere)given coffee etc not available at all times.
Review 2:Beautiful location and building. Wonderful food. Lovely staff. Very nice terrace areas (and pool, though a little cold in January!)
Review 3:Did not dislike anything but would say for anyone staying here a car (or bike) are essential.
Review 4:Very scenic location, friendly staff, good food, very pleasant courtyard and room.
Review 5:The only reception personnel also ran the restaurant. Upon arrival, the key to my designated room could not be located. I had to wait 30 minutes in the cold until I could ask for another room. Not professional.
Review 6:Quiet.
Review 7:Could only find one restaurant open in town. Hard to find (booking.com directions take you down an unmade road).
Review 8:Excellent breakfast, characterful room, charming bathroom, lovely gardens.
Review 9:Town is very quiet and there is nothing to do at the hotel or in the town after sundown. ½ board dinner was not good - food was substandard and not from the menu.
Review 10:Lovely rooms, great location for going to the volcano and Golfo, a lovely seaside town
Review 11:First question was when do you leave the Hotel. It didn't feel like wellcoming to the Hotel.
Review 12:Situation in peaceful place, near the National park.
Review 13:- price (below euro 50) - breakfast extremely good - very beautifully designed interior of rooms - absolutely quiet - jogging- & walking-trails just outside hotel - restaurants in walking-distance
Review 14:We liked the beautiful hotel a lot. The rooms were very nice and decorated in a southern style. There was also a beautiful garden. It was very calm there. It was perfect as startpoint of the may visits to the country.
Review 15:No bad experiences at all. It would have been nice if the pool was heated. A proper wine list, with prices, to match the excellence of the food and the skill of the chef would have attracted more business.
Review 16:The location on the edge of a pretty village was perfect. The staff were so helpful and Jose, the owner, gave us invaluable advice on trips etc. There are beautiful walks from the hotel and beaches are a very short distance away.
Review 17:Vacant building site next door, bar and dining room not always manned - staff not always available. Rooms could be cleaner. Towels well past life...
Review 18:Our upstairs room was very comfortable, breakfast good, and jacuzzi on the roof so the view spectacular. Friendly, helpful staff, when they were there!
Review 19:Hotel isn't very well serviced so it feels more like staying in an apartment. Breakfast on the poor side especially the coffee.
Review 20:We had a lovely room with amazing views.
Review 21:Room nr 4 aside of kitchen keeps you awake when kitchen is working, no light from outside etc . If booking there i recommend one of the first floors room with the excuisite view over the mountains and fields. ground floor ; no view no privacy with open window 1/1 resto closed in evening city is then also dead calm....
Review 22:It is a small hotel very tastefully decorated and very friendly management and staff.
Review 23:It was like staying in a mini parador. Unfortunately their restaurant was closed on the night we stayed (Wednesday), if the accommodation was anything to go by, I'm sure it would have been very good.
Review 24:Tables in the dining room were too close together which meant that any conversation you had with your partner could be overheard. There was room to space the tables out more but this was not used. The pool was cold and needs the benefit of solar heating. Breakfast food was left uncovered and attracted flies. No cooling plate underneath the food to keep it at the correct temperature.
Review 25:I chose this small hotel because I wanted to get away from the main tourist centres on Lanzarote and to stay in a village location.I achieved my objective by stopping in this hotel.
Review 26:Rooms are a little noisy. There was a baby in another room and we heard it loud and clear. There are some houses nearby what are not finished.
Review 27:Perfect landhouse on a perfectspot. We booked the junior suite and it was outstanding. Nice paintings, lot of space and nice bed. Our bed-room view was on a field. Breakfest was simple but ok. Personal was very friendly, they were having fun in life! The hotel is small (10 rooms?) so most of the time we where the only ones in the hotel. Nice place is the brooken mill in top of the hill (follow road).
Review 28:It was a bit hard to find but once you know where it is, this isn't a problem at all.
Review 29:The location, Yaiza is a bit the centre of the south side of the island. The accomodation is not too big which makes it a quiet location without a touristy feel to it, that is not like any of the tourist resort towns such as Playa Blanca for example.
Review 30:most of the day there is no staff at the hotel, so you better wish you don't need anything... otherwise you have to call the owner and wait for somebody to come and fix your problem. the cleaning of both the rooms and the breakfast area are not so good. compared to the services offered the prices are a bit too high.
Review 31:the building is very beautiful and the rooms are nice. the restaurant of the hotel is pretty good.
Review 32:Rooms are VERY decorative with fake portraits and cherubs, falling virgins etc etc but lacked practical surface space, not very well cleaned (ie dirty glasses left unwashed and surfaces unwiped etc). Also has wooden doors/windows that slam shut in the wind (could do with catches to hold them open). Would stay again though.
Review 33:Yaiza is a lovely village and handy location. The hotel has a friendly manager and a good restaurant.
Review 34:Sound insulation not very good. Could hear next door occupants of talking.
Review 35:Character place, lovely painted ceilings. Nice jacuzzi on top of roof.
Review 36:pure surroundings, pure atmosphere of charming old hotel, extreme friendly personnel. Best experience on the Islas Canarias ever!!
Review 37:The staff were brilliant and the rooms are beautiful
Review 38:no bad experiences
Review 39:friendly staff
Review 40:Nothing to mention
Review 41:Location is perfect to visit the island. Everything is well managed.
Review 42:next door to some unfinished apartments which appear to be derelict
Review 43:large room pool area for relaxing excellent buffet breakfast
Review 44:The owner is very kind and willing to help and give information. Peaceful and quite place, but not very far from other towns and attractions.
Review 45:Scenery and friendliness. And Cesare Manrique houses.
Review 46:Bicycles well maintained
Review 47:limited menue
Review 48:facilities
Review 49:No fridge
Review 50:The location as long as you had a car Charming boutique hotel at reasonable prices
Review 51:The manager Jose refused to book us a taxi from the airport but yet offered to arrange a hired car. On our first night in the dark we would have much preferred to arrive by taxi after a long time travelling. His attitude - he was always right. We were glad that he was away travelling for most of our stay. No staff around constantly at breakfast - it is too much to expect the pleasant young woman to keep an eye on breakfast and start cleaning the rooms at the same time.
Review 52:The peaceful and beautiful location but convenient for travel to natural attractions. A spectacular walk up the hills from the hotel. Comfortable seating in sun and shade where you could relax and read. The readiness of Chermann (the stand in manager) to help in any way and the depth of knowledege about the restored hotel and the village he was willing to share.
Review 53:Wi-fi only available in or next to the restaurant. Breakfast doesn't begin until 8.30 am so you have to go hungry if you want an early start. The double bed is two single beds put together.
Review 54:Lovely spacious rooms, beautiful ceiling paintings, comfortable beds, good showers. A lovely calm environment to the hotel. It is a small hotel.
Review 55:There was nobody to check us in when we arrived and we were a bit confused. However, the cleaning lady phoned the manager who was there within 5 mins to check us in. We laugh about it now..
Review 56:Lovely comfortable room with en-suite walk in shower room, separate dressing area and shutters on windows for good night sleep. The Jacuzzi after a long mountain walk. Breakfast was plentiful in a lovely intimate setting.
Review 57:It's an old house with wooden flooring, so if you are on the ground floor your hear people walking in the room above you...
Review 58:- Very quiet neighborhood, close to Timanfaya Park - Small hotel with friendly staff - guests were mainly couples coming for hiking (ie not party) - breakfast buffet included, possibility to have lunch/dinner on site - water bottle free of charge in your room (tap water tastes really bad in Lanzarote :)
Review 59:The lack of comfortable seating in the room. Finding the hotel was tricky on our first night in the dark, access roads are poorly marked and of poor quality.
Review 60:The quiet location, the pool and terrace area, and also the quirky feel of the hotel. The art work was stunniing. Breakfast was good, and the staff friendly.
Review 61:Nothing, this hotel provided all it had promised.
Review 62:Excellent small boutique hotel in a quiet countryside village. Friendly and efficient staff. This is an ideal destination if you want to avoid the typical hotels and nightlife associated with beach side developments. Jose has restored an old summerhouse to offer quirky, yet comfortable, accommodations on the outskirts of a sleepy village near the National Park. We rented a car and the coast was just a short drive away.
Review 63:The original room we booked was unavailable, so we had to go to a separate location. The bed for 2 was actually 2 single beds which made sleeping less comfortable.
Review 64:Staff was very friendly. Jose was very accommodating and provided us with a huge amount of suggestions and routes to see the Island. The rooms are very neat and we stayed in a separate house which had beautiful terraces and views.
Review 65:No staff in attendance for several hours of day Temperatures at 40+ but no fridge in room & no access to drinks when no staff on duty. Get a drinks machine!
Review 66:Location was good, Yaiza is a beautiful village & hotel full of character Benjamin, more than a waiter! Breakfast was good each day
Review 67:I liked everything. This hotel is an oasis along with the pretty, all-white village of Yaiza, away from the hordes and tackiness of some coastal development. From here you can discover the beautiful desert interior and unspoiled beaches of Lanzarote nearby. Each day you can return to the comfort, cleanliness, serenity and tasteful-design of La Casona de Yaiza. You will be met by the sincere smiles of the owners and the staff. You can relax in the pool or jacuzzi. You will dine on maybe the finest food in the Canaries. I ate there daily, it was so good. By all means stay at this hotel when in Lanzarote.
Review 68:The only thing I didn't like is on Thursday there is no staff as itstheir day off, therefore if like me arriving on Thursday which can bedaunting, luckily the owners wife was there to check me in, the onlyadvise I'd give email the owner letting him know what timeyou'll arrive in advance, in all fairness to Jose it is a tiny hoteland he does have other small boutique hotels to run.
Review 69:The hotel was excellent, the rooms were clean and the dining excellent, staff were courteous and helpful when around the owner Jose is veryattentive and very pleasant to deal with, as I single traveller recentlyseparated was a little worried as to how I would be taken, the hotelstaff eased my fears and went the extra mile to accommodate and makestay a pleasure, best 7 days I've had in many years. The hotel isvery quiet and away from the trashy resorts right on the edge of thenational park, perfect for hikers, cyclist and other adventurers. Justremember there is no night life. 5 out 5 hotel.
Review 70:The restaurant food was exellent but the service was very slow. Wi-fi did not reah the room and the alternative was to sit outside.
Review 71:The staf were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable
Review 72:Restaurant not the best Breakfast not great
Review 73:Lovely bedroom and bathroom Owner pleasant. Lovely part of Lanzarote
Review 74:Loved the quirkiness. It's a very unique place with a lot of character.
Review 75:No air con, ruined all the plus points
Review 76:Beautiful hotel, quiet location, friendly staff
Review 77:Breakfast was not up to standard. Buffet was covered by flies.
Review 78:Liked the decor and the rooms. The jacuzzi on the roof was great as well.
Review 79:Very relaxing small hotel. Great service.
Review 80:damp out of season nylon bedlinen it all depends on Jose, and he can get overloaded
Review 81:friendly staff good food character building
Review 82:Very friendly staff & Manager
