Reviews for Philae Hotel Aswan

Review 1:I had to open the water tap for 3 minutes to get warm water - seems like a terrible waste of this valuable resource.

Review 2:beautiful room with very good view and friendly staff. Breakfast itself was very good as well.

Review 3:Absence of elevator

Review 4:Nice and comfortable rooms. Generous breakfast. Friendly staff. Everything works, even the a.c. is capable of heating (needed in January).

Review 5:Not that I feel unsafe but a safebox is always important when you travel, they should add them to the rooms

Review 6:Excellent place rightbin the corniche, close to everything. The staff was great. The breakfast box for the early morning tours was more than generous. They also were very interested of my feedback once we returned. It's clear that they want to always improve the quality, that's very important

Review 7:No elevator, bathroom door was broken, outdated restaurant with modest breakfast

Review 8:Great location and friendly staff, my room has been upgraded to a suit

Review 9:the bad: - don't seem to have restaurants nearby, not the fault of the hotel though

Review 10:the good: - offers a great minibus tour to abu simbel at a great price - with nice view of the nile - wifi works great in room - decent rooms - accommodating front desk ladies. our first room had a strong smell of fresh paint. after coming back from abu simbel they changed us to a new room late in the afternoon.

Review 11:Nothing bad they did everything right.EXCEPT: I don't understand why Booking.com keeps deciding (incorrectly) where I am from, they have me down as being from EGYPT this time, I am from the USA.

Review 12:This is not a luxury hotel by any stretch, but it's a nice cleanhotel in a good location and the staff are very friendly and will dowhat it takes to make you happy. Great breakfast and it just keptcoming. I had to tell them to stop bringing me food because I had toomuch and couldn't eat it all. The night before the desk clerk askedwhat I wanted to eat and I said porridge, She didn't know what itwas, so looked it up on Google and had it ready for me in the morning!(Note for Booking.com: I don't understand why Booking.com keepsdeciding (incorrectly) where I am from, they have me down as being fromegypt this time, I am from the usa)

Review 13:Aircon was noisy. Perhaps a little overpriced for the current season / industry status.

Review 14:Very friendly staff with a big desire to solve every problem / wish you have! Excellent views over the river Nile. Excellent breakfast served every morning.

Review 15:Everything was perfect!

Review 16:Fantastic hotel right on the Nile, I got a room overlooking the Nile, staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and so kind, walking distance to the Nubian Museum and to the train station too, close to some food places and ATMs, their restaurant inside has very good food at cheap prices, super clean hotel and beautiful layout of the rooms, they can help you arrange tours (I highly recommend doing their Abu Simbel tour, also their tour to see the High Dam, Philae Island, and Unfinished Obelisk is a good value too)

Review 17:A three star hotel without swimming pool. Overpriced, as you get better services for the same price. Very poor breakfast.

Review 18:Nice location and very kind people

Review 19:The photos were a little deceptive. We booked a Nile view room expecting to sit on the balcony in the evening. The view was fabulous but there are 4 lanes of traffic below (between the hotel and Nile) so this is noisy and strange no-one else has mentioned this. Maybe a back room would be quieter, but they are smaller rooms.

Review 20:- Fabulous breakfast - all freshly prepared and so much variety. Fruit salad, muffin, falafels, cheese, pancakes and eggs. We opted for omlettes. - Great staff and nice to see women working in the hotels. - Complimentary toothpaste and toothbrushes a nice touch. - Bed and pillows were comfortable

Review 21:Couldn't watch the TV as there was no decent picture, the price was probably a bit high for the quality of the hotel, and wi-fi signal was intermittent.

Review 22:Helpful and pleasant staff who helped organise various trips, nice dinner.

Review 23:Sometimes there are butterflies in the room and it is annoying.

Review 24:The air conditioner works just fine. We can see the Nile river. They have a restaurant and serve good food. We joined tour to Abu Simbel Temple arranged by hotel which is also good, we had three hours to visit the temple.

Review 25:Overall appearance of the hotel, the building, hallways etc

Review 26:Location with view on the Nile, breakfast and breakfast box (for when you go to Abu Simbel) and friendly staff

Review 27:the price is a little bit expensive during Chinese national day.

Review 28:the hotel location and the service of receeption. the breakfast in hotel is very good. beautiful view to Nile. near to the local market and train station.

Review 29:Very willing and helpful staff attended to all our needs, arranged various excursions, including convoy to Abu Simbel on short notice. English spoken. Great location.

Review 30:The Philae is located right on the corniche - great location. They have unlimited free wi-fi which was great to catch up on things after sight-seeing. They had a family room for us which was perfect - the kids ages 11 and 13 had their own beds which makes life better! We also found the staff to be very helpful.

Review 31:The air conditioning of my first room was not working but they changed the room. The freezer also was not working good but they changed for another one in the other day. Lights of bathroom had to be changed too.

Review 32:People of Aswan are very friendly and all the staff of hotel always have a smile on their face (specially Marwa and Mustafa). I had some few problems with the room and one tour but all of them solved immediatly, in a good way. Chef is very good and I liked the view of Nile so much.

Review 33:The price seemed a little high for the level of accommodation. It is about a 3 star, not a 4 star. The wind chime light that made noise at night, because of the ac.

Review 34:this is an upper scale budget hotel. it has an excellent location. the staff is extremely helpful. they have hot water in the shower. The staff arranged all of our transportation (airport, abu simbel, to luxor). We felt very comfortable with our driver, Naggie.

Review 35:Very little water pressure and flow in the shower.

Review 36:Fabulous staff! So friendly and helpful. The location is beside the Nile and just a few blocks from the bazaar.

Review 37:The air condition in the room is quit noisy and sometimes smelling.

Review 38:Serve is good, staffs are good. The place is close to boats, feluccas, kfc, McDonald's, and Aswan market street. Very good location.

Review 39:I mentioned that we were on our first year anniversary and they very kindly gave us a nicer room! Lovely Nile view, room kept clean and nice touches like free biscuits and sculpting the towels into shapes on the bed. Simple Egyptian breakfast served including tasty falafel. Would recommend this hotel.

Review 40:The beds (as are all beds in egypt) hard. Uncomfortable to sleep on. Also no lift. For anyone taking the abu simbel trip through the hotel be advised that you need to plan for some food. The hotel did not alert us to this and it was a long 8 hours from breakfast till we came back. There are NOT any cafeterias in abu simbel.

Review 41:The philae was a clean, well located hotel with good wifi. We enjoyed the breakfast there more than any of the other hotels we stayed at in Egypt

Review 42:Great location. Close to bank, restaurant and and shoppings. The staff a superfriendly. My partner caught a cold/flu while staying at this hotel. The management and staff went above and beyond to help arrange doctor to the hotel to check on my partner. It is very conforting to know that someone will lookout for you while you are in a foreigh country. I will definitely come back to this hotal again.

Review 43:Wifi was a bit slow. Room facing the riverside can be rather noisy at night for light sleepers. No lift but the staff always helped to carry anything heavy.

Review 44:Friendly and efficient staff. Great location. By the blue Nile. Unique breakfast. Not the usual boring buffet breakfast. Several small portion dishes were served to each guest. Perfect for me.

Review 45:...That we could not stay any longer..!!!!!

Review 46:As mentioned by almost everyone...the staff are polite, friendly and very very helpful indeed. They are willing to see to all your needs and will offer endless information about Aswan and enhance your stay in the town. The hotel is secure, clean and quiet. The Philae overlooks the Nile from the front and a lovely sunset as it sets over the desert is lovely. The breakfast was varied, tasty and large...and served with a smile...well done to all of the staff...we will definitely come back again

Review 47:This hotel has a great location. It's perfectly positioned in the centre of town, opposite the nile. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond in meeting our demands. They helped us with directions and even organised a trip to Abu Simbel and private transfer to Luxor. We stayed in a family room which was comfortable for our family travelling with young children

Review 48:A bit pricey for the city and the service; No wi-fi at the room: breakfast was mediocre at best; Tours offered by the hotel were absolutely overpriced, including that to Abu Simbel (try with travel operators other than the hotel, you have a good range of them)

Review 49:Location is excellent; Room was good; Bathroom excellent

Review 50:Our room was a little small and, as it was facing the back, did not really have a view of anything, but these things really did not matter as we only spent minimal time in the room and otherwise, it was very comfortable.

Review 51:This hotel has a great, central location and is a nice mid-range option. The hotel itself is quite clean and has clearly just been renovated. The rooms were very comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 52:Breakfast hours are too late. They offer a box to-go.

Review 53:This hotel can arrange transportation to Abu Simbel at a reasonable price. Rooms are clean and the staff very helpful. A block or two away from the market, across from the local ferry to Elefantine island.

Review 54:the wifi went wrong

Review 55:everything is good just not as spacious as expected. They upgraded the room with the river view! And it is great! The food provided is just fine but the staff is helpful and friendly.

Review 56:The water was cut off during our 3rd day of stay. According to the frontdesk staff, it was the water company's problem. It's not very comfortable that night, however, the hotel staff sent us a huge bottle of water for washing the second morning.

Review 57:The location is really great if you choose the Nile River view room. Everything (the staff, the facilities, the cleaness) is great, except the wifi is not so stable. Sometimes i have to go to the stairs and lobby to get a better signal.

Review 58:The tripple room feels a bit lack of space. 三人间是由两人间加床充当的,所以有点挤。

Review 59:The staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is clean, and the breakfast is good. It is notible that the hotel has an attractive view. My room is with a cute balconey overlooking the Nile River, so does the restaurant. Enjoying the view of Nile while having breakfast is something I will definitely miss. WIFI is fast. 员工很友好,很帮忙。有不错的wifi。风景很好,边吃着早餐边看尼罗河的风景,很惬意。下次来阿斯旺我会再住这儿。

Review 60:No doors! No door in this family room between the two rooms, no real door to the toilet and no window in the toilet so no sleep (caughing children...) + I had the impression because there was no window in the toilets to sleep "in the street". Also for the same price you can go to the hotel opposite: is quieter, much nicer and better comfort.

Review 61:Beds were good

Review 62:Wi fi very intermittent

Review 63:Friendly helpful staff Quiet room at back Good location for central sites and islands Excellent breakfast (in hotel and as a packed breakfast box for early start)

Review 64:Wifi is free but speed could be better.

Review 65:Excellent value for money. Great location right on the Nile. The reception staff allowed us to stay on till 7 pm without charging extra. Free wifi in rooms although a bit slow.

Review 66:The very bad unreliable wifi

Review 67:Not what i expected, outdated, small rooms, the wifi very unreliable! This hotel is ok for a one night bur i would not recommend it for a short or long stay.. Seek other options

Review 68:On check-in we were moved three times due to defects in each rooms: defective patio door lock in the first, no electrics/defective electrics in the second. Inability to pay by credit card for anything other than the accommodation cost.

Review 69:The location

Review 70:There was a window from the room into the shower of the bathroom. The bathroom door was terrible, it was not a door. A triple room is just a double with an extra twin bed, why was it at least not a double bed with an extra twin added? The "Nile View" rooms are extremely noisy because even though you have a Nile view, you also are right on the major street in Aswan. The insulation in the sliding glass door and window was awful so there was a draft coming into the room. Things like the power switch for the heater/air conditioner and hot water in the bathroom were not already turned on. The blankets were not that clean.

Review 71:The staff was very nice and the room was mostly clean. Breakfast was okay in the morning.

Review 72:Nothing....

Review 73:Wonderful little hotel with view of the Nile. Sweet sweet helpful staff - and the best breakfast - a lot of small dishes served by the nicest staff.

Review 74:None..

Review 75:The small comforting gestures of the staff made our day. The manager was very nice and cooperative. They even upgraded us from a triple room to two double rooms with Nile view. If we ever go to Aswan again, Philae Hotel will be our first choice.

Review 76:The staff at the Philae hotel are very friendly & helpful. Some of the rooms have Nile views, & I wish I had booked one of those! The room was comfortable. Aswan is a great city & this is in a great spot. Tastefully decorated as well. The food in the restaurant was also good.

Review 77:Made the mistake of booking this hotel because it had an 8.4 customer rating, however it had no star rating by booking.com. Won't make that mistake again. It would be OK if I was a budget traveler, but I'm not. So after checking in, I got online and booked a better hotel. We left after paying for one night as a cancellation fee, which is only fair.

Review 78:Staff was very accommodating when I informed them I was leaving. They offered a free up-graded to a suite which I refused. The manager was very nice about this and gave us a ride to the new hotel.

Review 79:Wi-Fi didn't work very well in our room, but it worked fine in other parts of the hotel.

Review 80:The staff at this hotel are some of the best I've ever encountered anywhere in the world. The service was top notch. We asked for a wake up call, and how much a taxi to the airport should cost for our morning flight to Abu Simbel. The next morning we came down to the lobby to find they had prepared breakfast boxes and had a taxi waiting for us that cost less than we had anticipated paying. They have a restaurant on site that serves great food. It is also in a great location within walking distance to most of what Aswan has to offer. The room was clean and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the Nile and working AC. I'm so glad we stayed here!

Review 81:The staff was very helpful at the hotel as well as arranging the trip to Abu SImbel. They also got a great driver for the trip from Aswan to Luxor with stops at temples along the way. The hotel is great value, cheerful staff, good restaurant food and good facilities

Review 82:No wifi during our stay

Review 83:STAFF STAFF STAFF They make us feel really special and were really amazing. They are the reason that i will be back. Everybody, from the cleaning ladies to the managers, including reception. Thanks for our wonderfull stay :)

Review 84:Even with double glazing it is bit noisy.

Review 85:Excellent and very helpful staff. Good view of the Nile. Good breakfast and really good pizzas for dinner if you choose to eat in.

Review 86:Nothing, really. All good. Nada, realmente, tudo neste hotel foi muito bom.

Review 87:Everything. I just spent one night, but for sure I would stay there again. And, I would recommend this hotel for any of my friends. Plus there is free wifii, excellent wifii btw. Location nearby the soaqs market. Staff is great. I took a breakfast box - I went to Abu Simbel in the early morning, that was nearly a breakfast and lunch together. Lots of food :0) Gostei de tudo neste hotel, eu retornaria ou recomendaria a um amigo. Wifii sem cobrar, excelente sinal de wiff. Pessoal do hotel muito atencioso. Localização excelente, perto do comércio local e perto do Rio Nilo. Eu fui pra Abu Simbel de manhã, e me deixaram uma caixa de café muito boa com muita comida. Quase um cafe da manha e almoço :0).

Review 88:Very firm bed - bit like sleeping on a barn door! But...pretty much all hotels we stayed at in Egypt had firm beds, so it might just be how they make them. WiFi also wasn't working...

Review 89:The staff were wonderful - helpful, informative, and even gave us an upgrade to a suite! Great location too, right in the heart of the Corniche, overlooking the Nile. Bit noisy with the traffic of course, but a small price to pay for such a handy position.

Review 90:The wifi connection was non-existant. They said they were having problems with it while we were there.

Review 91:The staff here were friendly and helpful. We especially liked that they packed us a free breakfast when we had an early morning flight. The beds were comfortable and the location was close to the water. When our cruise ship came into Aswan, it only took us 3 minutes to walk to the Philae hotel. Very convenient!

Review 92:the management of the hotel is probably very religious - it was the only time in Egypt when they told us "the management doesn't want Egyptian and foreigner to stay in one room".

Review 93:Good breakfast

Review 94:When we asked the hotel if any travel group'd go to Abu Simbel the next morning. If there was any we would like to join and they said none and asked us whether we'd like to make a private tour. We declined. Later we made friends with two Chinese guys accommodated the same night in this hotel. They told us they shared a minibus with some Koreans on the morning we wanna go. Well, the hotel wished us to spend more so they didn't tell us the minibus group thing. This gave me a really bad impression of the hotel.

Review 95:The location is good and easy to find. The bathroom is clean. When we told the receptionist we'd go to Abu Simbel the next morning, they promised to prepare our breakfast at the time we wanted. And it's well prepared in a decent box.

Review 96:Dinner was just all right, we'd recommend to eat out, the trip to Abu Simple arranged by the hotel was very plain, just the bus without a guide or any explanations

Review 97:Great location right at the Corniche and close to the market, very nice breakfast, a safe and clean place, the staff was very caring, friendly, helpful and paid attention to the details

Review 98:Wifi. Laggy and often disconnected in a room

Review 99:While staying in this hotel, Staff were always smiley and kind and willing to help anything you need help with. Stronly recommend to anyone visiting aswan!

Review 100:Wifi is very slow and signal is very weak! Rooms with river view is noisy at night since the children were playing football in the street al night long.

Review 101:Staff tried to help us with the bus to Abusinbel all the evening. Good breakfast.

Review 102:there was in same hotel better rooms with less value, and admin. refer that to booking through internet . it has certain rooms{very bad} with heigher value

Review 103:location

Review 104:Power went off for several times while we stayed. It usually got fixed soon but it was a little bit too often.

Review 105:The best thing I love about Philae is the staff, they are really great! Very helpful and kind to foreign tourists, truly cared for our trip here, and gave their own advices. You need to ring the door even just to get in the lobby so it's very safe. Location's great too, you can see Nile right in front of you and the market&train station are pretty close. Love this place! Definitely the 1st choice if I ever visit aswan again.

Review 106:Lovely Staff that does everything with a warm smile and so genuinely helpful, location is brilliant and it 's very clean the view is outstanding

Review 107:None.

Review 108:Fantastic position right in front of the nile. Very quiet place, very friendly and helpful staff & very good food.

Review 109:The spacious suit, the interior, cordial staff,

Review 110:The room from our room overlooking the Nile was very nice. Their breakfast is pretty good. They serve organic fruits and excellent tameya.

Review 111:nothing negative, stay here if it fits your price category

Review 112:Very nice, great price, great caring staff

Review 113:Kitchen not functional full time No lift, difficult if you have elders in group

Review 114:Breakfast on the Go Efficient staff

Review 115:Excellent location

Review 116:Nothing

Review 117:Location is great and staff are very helpful. Acceptable breakfast.

Review 118:Very overpriced for quality of hotel

Review 119:Location.

Review 120:Great views, friendly staff

Review 121:nothing

Review 122:every thing

Review 123:large and clean room with balcony

Review 124:Amazing staff and location! 100% recommended!

Review 125:A/C only turns on when you are in the room. It can get hot after a full day while you're out seeing sights.

Review 126:Friendly customer service.

Review 127:Very nice place all round :)

Review 128:Wifi is slow

Review 129:The hotel was clean, simple and well located

Review 130:Amazing breakfast. Good quality efficient service and great wifi.

Review 131:beutiful view and kind people 전망이 좋고 가격 대비 시설과 서비스가 좋습니다. 사람들도 친절합니다. 강추합니다.
