Hotel Leonor de Aquitania descritpion
Overlooking the Huecar gorge, this hotel is housed in a charming, 18th-century building set in the historic heart of Cuenca.
Once an aristocratic townhouse, the Leonor de Aquitania provides an authentic setting for your stay in this small city in the region of La Mancha. Reviews for Hotel Leonor de Aquitania
Review 1:First room allocated was on first floor but facing onto very narrow road with building opposite. Noise from traffic was unbearable so asked to be moved.
Review 2:We were upgraded from the 3* Aquitanua just up the road so this was excellent value for money. Room was clean and spacious but on the top floor with no windows (skylight only)
Review 3:The shower was a bit antique and there was loud music in the cafe/bar
Review 4:We really enjoyed staying at this hotel which is in a great location overlooking the gorge Heueca and is very nicely appointed. We were very comfortable in our room with the great views.
Review 5:I didn't receive a notification that the hotel was closed and we were transferred to another hotel.
Review 6:We got upgraded to a better hotel down the street as the one we booked was closed. Great room with very comfy bed.
Review 7:Spectacular views from room (well worth the extra money), walking distance to all attractions. Very comfortable - free parking available nearby with a bit of luck. WiFi good.
Review 8:Jacazzi and sauna were expensive so we didn't use it. We feel that it should be included in hotel price.
Review 9:Location was perfect. We had mountainview rooms wich was beautiful. Nice hiking routes nearby. Situated in historic center.
Review 10:Really, nothing worth mentioning.
Review 11:Situated high in the old part of Cuenca. We had a modern, spacious room, bathroom with modern multi-jet shower, comfortable beds, and a balcony with amazing and unforgettable views : mountains, rocks, Parador, Huecar gorge. Waking up to it was such a pleasure we were sorry to leave. A stone's throw from Fundacion Antonio Perez, vast, astounding collection of modern art, and a short distance to the impressive cathedral, museums and other art interesting, not to be missed, art galleries. We took taxis but can be reached by local bus service with stop nearby. Reasonable size breakfast available in bar - good value at 4.50 euros.
Review 12:Nothing bad
Review 13:Fantastic view from our window of the gorge and the parador. Steep walk up and down but that is why the view is so good. very helpful staff available 24hrs
Review 14:Morose staff 17.95€ per night car park fee Restaurant closed on a Tuesday night because there was a local fiesta on Friday. Room/Suite 306 needed maintenance (wardrobe door nob off; loo flushed badly; shower floor very slippery) Air con in lounge, none in bedroom. Wi-fi slow and kept cutting out.
Review 15:Location Public car park opposite Clean
Review 16:Soft mattress. Bathroom needs reforming. Staff not very attentive in the bar, had to ask at reception on 2 occasions to be served
Review 17:Perfect location,car park 100 meters away
Review 18:No compaints.
Review 19:If you're trying to decide wether or not Cuenca is worth visiting. It is. If you're trying to decide if paying extra for the mountain view is worth it. YES. I feel like I underpaid. The view from the balcony alone is worth it. So breathtaking. The shower is especially nice as well.
Review 20:Our room wasn't ready, so we had to leave our bags and go for a long walk and get lunch before we could settle in. We'd have loved tea making facilities in our room, but it was not possible. In fact the very suggestion that we would like a cup of tea at 7.00am brought a look of horror to the receptionist!
Review 21:Great views, good position.
Review 24:Cuenca old town is situated in stunning surroundings and the has such an interesting history. We enjoyed walking down to the river and if we had had time would have done more walking.
Review 25:the extra premium paid for the "view" was disappointing and we were put in the old and unrenovated part of the hotel....not good value for money.
Review 26:nice resturant if in the old part in the cellar with good daily menu.
Review 27:The hotel is close to everything and has a nice view of the old city. The room was well-appointed and surprisingly modern for a very old, historic hotel.
Review 28:Great location (in the old town) for exploring and visiting the sights of Cuenca. Public parking virtually across the street. Hotel offering good value for money. Definitely worth paying extra for a room with a view. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Free wifi and no problems with connection.
Review 29:The bedroom themselves were very good and clean beds very comfortable. Unfortunately I found that the bathrooms really needed a make-over.
Review 30:the hotel was in an ideal location for seeing the sights, very helpful and friendly staff Wi-Fi good
Review 31:Had some trouble to get my computer logged into the internet, but the staff was very helpful in trying to solve my problem.
Review 32:Located in the old part of the town, the view from the hotel is amazing. It is near most of the historical spots, such as the Cathedral and the Casas Colgadas. Great value for money.
Review 33:The room was very cold, the shower that looks incredibly stylish has a shower with almost zero water pressure, could not even rinse soap out of hair.
Review 34:The building and the staff are fabulous
Review 35:Breakfast was very good with variety but was more expensive than we were told. Also, the wifi didn't work.
Review 36:Great location. Our room 206 had an amazing view.
Review 37:The radiators were full blast in our room when we arrived so it was a little over bearing considering it wasn't that cold outside, but this was soon resolved by opening the windows.
Review 38:This is a great hotel in the perfect location for exploring Cuenca. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, and clean. We had a great stay and would definitely place this at the top of our list if we return in the future.
Review 39:Requested bottle of cava in advance, didn't receive due to "spam" folder excuse. Paid for superior room. Hydro massage shower didn't work. Door off hinges too. Wifi didn't work and on checkout I mentioned this and was told I needed a key. Would've been nice to have been told this on check-in. Very limited TV channels. On complaining at checkout was offered an apology, but no discount or compensation of any kind.
Review 40:Great location, decent rooms, great views (if you pay for view room). Overall an OK hotel.
Review 41:Wi-fi in room a bit hit and miss. Pillows rather hard.
Review 42:Excellent location in old town for visiting main places of interest.Comfortable Hotel offering value for money. Definitely worth payingextra for a room with a view. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.Breakfast not worth 10 euros per person but we took advantage of specialoffer, 2 for price of 1.
Review 43:Breakfast was nothing to get excited about, I would skip it. The wifi was really difficult to connect to and use. Also, the beds are hard as rock, make sure to ask for the bed "pads".
Review 44:This hotel is perfectly situated near the top of the gorge and the rooms have beautiful views. The cathedral and main plaza are just down the road.
Review 45:We only stayed one night :-( Wifi didn't work in the room but was fine in the lobby. This was no big deal, we aren't married to our devices.
Review 46:Lovely room, awesome shower, the best breakfast of anyplace we stayed, cost extra but well worth it. Make sure you book a room with a balcony the view of the gorge is amazing. Everything was clean and is good repair. A parking garage is right across the street if you need it.
Review 47:bedroom with a great bathroom the view the sounbd of nature (you will need to love coocorikkooooo) the staff the breakfast and the coffee the supplement for the view worths it, you would be desapointed not to pay for it
Review 48:Nothing.
Review 49:It's all about location and the view, both are amazing. Old Cuenca is a stunning city, the views from the hotel is worth the money alone, not to mention that the hotel is top notch itself.
Review 50:The modern shower with many jets was difficult to operate and all the jets didn't seem to work. There were no directions for turning it on.
Review 51:Very good location--nice views out the window.
Review 52:The Wi-Fi never stayed engaged, and I constantly have to log back in even during use. The parking situation was a little unclear: right across from the hotel there is parking for €15 a day however after parking in that lot, I was informed by the hotel that there was free parking up the hill.
Review 53:The hotel was in a fantastic location in an old building with lots of character. It was very easy to walk to restaurants at the top of the hill, as well as to view the hanging houses and walk the bridge. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and breakfast was included.
Review 54:Air con units situated outside bathroom window were noisey.
Review 55:Well placed in the old town. Reasonably priced parking with hotel voucher nearby.
Review 56:The unreliability of the lift
Review 57:Professionalism of staff
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:Great position in the upper town. Easy to find parking. Well presented and helpful staff
Review 60:Friendly staff and good value breakfast
Review 61:panorama were wonderful
Review 62:Overlooking the gorge. Very atmospheric town with amazing Gallery of Contemporary Art. Lovely meal in a local restaurant.
Review 63:My bed was not good.
Review 64:I liked the view from my room, and the helpful receptionists.
Review 65:The breakfast buffet is very sub standard.
Review 66:Employees were all friendly, smiling, professional and very helpful. The view is extraordinary
Review 67:I did not like the breakfast-service, and the bar closed too early in the evening.
Review 68:I liked the athmosphere and the staff in the reception.
Review 69:Unplessant bed and bedspread
Review 70:Everything exsept the bed. Greath place and location.
Review 71:No internet connection.
Review 72:The location of this hotel is its strenght. Clean, all the basics and the option to stay longer on Sundays for a small amount.
Review 73:Great location, stylish, very helpful staff. Comfortable room.
Review 74:hill
Review 75:location
Review 76:Beautiful location in the old part good facilities, excellent value.
Review 77:The early morning calls from the cockerels in the gorge. The resturant was closed during our stay and breakfast was rather expensive for what it was.
Review 78:A modern clean and comfortable room with air-con and a small refrigerator. The staff were extremely helpful. Parking was available nearby. Beautiful views from our room.
Review 79:Poor wifi in the room. The "queen" bed was side by side twins which were a bit hard. We slept fine and were not uncomfortable but not ideal.
Review 80:Location. Very cute little town and the Inn was close to the views, a great art museum and up the hill was a fantastic place to get the local cuisine for a great price (up the hill recommended, down was $$$)
Review 81:Easy to find, but narrow sidewalk in front.
Review 82:Great location overlooking the river gorge where the most picturesque houses hang out. Easy to find on main street in old town. Public parking is just 50 meters away.
Review 83:An expensive buffet breakfast at 10.50 euros per head was more than amenu del dia, so we went to a cafe in the plaza mayor for breakfast.
Review 84:We paid a little extra for a room with a view, and the view wasspectacular. At 121 euros for 2 nights it was very good value. The hotelis in an excellent location and the main sites of Cuenca are easilyreached on foot. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel wasspotlessly clean.
Review 85:We had two rooms and one had an extra bed in (at our request). This room was a bit drab for the price but I think they are doing the rooms up.
Review 86:The staff were very helpful and the breakfast great. I am coeliac and they had gone to lots of effort to have special food for me (even though it was a buffet anyway) - including delicious hot bread that I've never had anywhere else. The location is great. Wifi worked well too.
Review 87:The shower arrangement is awkward for somebody old like me.
Review 88:Situation and room. Superb view over the river gorge and old town from the sunny balcony of our room. Parking: you have to pay for it, but it's right opposite the hotel and it's a godsend in those narrow streets. Room confort: an excellent modern conversion of a very old stone building.
Review 89:The hotel operates on the traditional Spanish timetable for meals ie dinner is from 9pm. We had an excellent dinner at a nearby hotel, served from 7.30pm.
Review 90:Our room, with balcony, offered truly spectacular views into and across the canyon. The nearby paid for parking facility was excellent
Review 91:we were on the front of the hotel and the cars were very noisy when driving up and down. Breakfast not included making the room a little expensive.
Review 92:Hotel lovely, staff helpful and spoke a little English. clean and airy room. Wonderful location .
Review 93:The shower could have been checked before we got there - it did not work properly. Fortunately there was also a hand shower. The breakfast cafe was understaffed, and the one waiter on duty was run off his feet.
Review 94:The top floor room we got had a balcony, and in Cuenca that was just fantastic as the view was brilliant. And what a privilege to sit on the balcony!
Review 95:WiFi not good. Tried breakfast one morning and we were not impressed with the price nor the quality. The bathroom needs a facelift.
Review 96:Excellent location for visiting the places of interest in the old town. Cheap and regular bus service from close to the hotel to the city shopping centre. Helpful staff, clean and comfortable room with excellent view of the gorge.
Review 97:Nothing was bad, but the air Air conditioning unit did make some very strange noises though the night even when switched off. Lack of hotel information, also maps of local area and places of interest could of been provided in hotel rooms.
Review 98:Location perfect for seeing old Cuenca. The view from our window was excellent. We found a free parking space less than 200 meters away which saved using the rather expensive car parks.
Review 99:The situation was perfect for for us. Our room overlooked the gorge & beautiful scenery! Even the Roosters crowing was enjoyable to us. Cuenca is very beautiful but only need a couple of nights there to see everything.
Review 100:If no hotel parking space available (not guaranteed) free parking at +/- 15 min. walk distance, possibly inconvenient for physically less healthy persons
Review 101:Excellent situation in the old town of Cuenca. Fine views from external rooms. Very helpful and effective staff. Modernized interior in old building.
Review 102:Evening reception was not very friendly; wifi limited to one device; fridge in room not working.
Review 103:The views were excellent and the location, convenient.
Review 104:Parking opposite is 17.99, which not cheap. Given narrow street, unloading car was impossible.
Review 105:Hotel is well situated in the old city . The sights of Cuenca begin at the front door. It is a wonderful city. The hotel itself is quaint and well furnished though not luxurious. The reception staff were helpful and welcoming. There is free street parking up from hotel.
Review 106:Bit steep when walking from the hotel to the old town but we knew that anyway.A convenient bus service passes the hotel every 10 mins or so but we didn't use it. Restaurant not open for evening meal. Rooms need some refurbishment but satisfactory.
Review 107:Very central and convenient for old town, The surrounding area was beautiful.
Review 108:Bathrooms were a bit jaded and in need of some TLC Since visiting before the loung bar and dining room have been updated to a modern style which doesn't suit the buildings age
Review 109:Loved the position right in the old city. Value for money
Review 110:-the first hotelroom they gave us at 17.00 was not cleaned and ready to check into! -they did not have the booking there, so Booking.com had not informed the hotel of our arrival!
Review 111:-the small balconies overlooking the street is.
Review 112:The breakfast! we were told it started at 8, we were wantingb to leave early as we had to travel to Santander, and there was no food available till about 8.20, and then in dribs and drabs that we didnt know what else may be coming, so was not an enjoyable meal. sorry
Review 113:Obviously the views are stunning, and your position is perfect. Our room was excellent, reception very efficient.
Review 114:Nothing, perfect as it is.
Review 115:As the Leonor was being refurbished we were offered rooms in the sister hotel, Convento del Giraldo just 50m away at no further cost and it was excellent in every way, clean, friendly and the perfect spot for visiting the sights such as the Hanging Houses and Enchanted City.
Review 116:Balcony of next door room overlooked our bathroom window!! The windowwas curtained and you couldn't see through it but neverthe less it was alittle disconcerting! The breakfast was expensive for what was on offerbut as we had a 2 for 1 deal it was okay. Wouldn't have wanted to pay10.50 euros for it
Review 117:Superb location overlooking the gorge at Cuenca - worth paying that bitextra for a room with a view. Very helpful staff
Review 118:The location was excellent for exploring the Old Town on foot. View from my room (second floor at the back) was breathtaking. The room was clean, quiet, pretty, well furnished, comfortable, had a fridge and good-sized bathroom and a small balcony. Staff was friendly; breakfast buffet was good value (but on two for one while I was there).
Review 119:From the balcony you can see through next room's toilet window. Some stuff isn't so friendly.
Review 120:Really good view from the balcony, great location, clean, big room (with view), fridge, good internet access, quiet, controllable air conditioner.
Review 121:This is a lovely hotel with character in the old part of Cuenca - the location is great. The staff were always helpful and friendly - one couldn't ask more from them. The room was comfortable, and had views over to the Puente and the Monasterio de San Pablo.
Review 122:When the toilet flushed, the water did not stop running until lid taken off cystern. The breakfast was awful. Fortunately, we only had it for one morning on a 2 for 1 offer. If we'd have had to pay full price, we would have made a fuss. The "hot" food (scrambled eggs, sausages, ham/bacon & tortilla) were in an electric Bain-Marie, which was not switched on. Once we could find plates that were clean enough to use, we put our cold "hot" food on it and gave it to a member of staff to heat up in the kitchen.
Review 123:The hotel was adequate for our purpose.
Review 124:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel very centrally located in old Cuenca. Great views. Parking if you have a car available close by hotel.
Review 125:Difficulties in understanding train timetable and which railway station we were to depart from. Hotel staff and taxi unable to help. This was the only downside.
Review 126:Wonderful location in a unique historical centre. Our room had the most amazing view. Restaurant excellent.
Review 127:The breakfast. Too over piced for a normal breakfast table.
Review 128:Simple, ok priced hotel. Nice clean room and efficient staff. Is worth to pay the extra and get a room with views over the gorge.
Review 129:No drinks facilities in room, tea coffee etc. Glass in bathroom for usingto brush teeth etc should be plastic as we dropped one and even thoughthe cleaner came to clear it all away ,we still found shards of glass onthe floor later. We had to wear shoes in the bathroom after that forfear of injuring ourselves.
Review 130:Staff extremely pleasant, spoke good English and very helpful. Wellpositioned hotel in good state of repair, clean and wonderful viewsfrom our room.
Review 131:Excellent location to visit old city of Cuenca, stunning views frombedroom. Public parking close at hand. One day is Cuenca is enoughthough and cafes & restaurants nearby tend to be a bit of a rip off. Goto the family restaurant just outside the gate at the top of the hill -best value for money. Leonor was overall good value for money althoughbedroom and bathroom were a bit tired.
Review 132:Very good value for money, even the rooms with views, which arestaggering and well worth the extra ... in fact, not sure it would beworth the stay without booking a room with a view!!Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed - en-suite very good.
Review 133:Only good things about hotel and Quenca!
Review 134:Amazing hotel and city! If you're thinking of spending a night inCuenca...change your booking to stay two nights minimum.
