Reviews for La Posada del Conde
Review 1:Only criticism is that the bed mattress was too firm but this may be preferable for some!
Review 2:Location is fantastic for the Caminito del Rey. The hotel arranged tickets for us to walk the Caminito. Food was lovely at the Oasis restaurant and very reasonably priced.
Review 3:Very little to dissapoint except the basic traditional Spanish breakfast. Not even an orange juice just coffee served with the very crispy bread roll.
Review 4:Location with room facing lake and mountain excellent. Easy to walk across dam wall to other restaurants and walk to the De Los Gaitanes and Caminito Del Rey. Staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel restaurant - excellent atmosphere with wood fire and delicious food.
Review 5:A better choice at breakfast would have been welcome.
Review 6:The hotel is well located near the reservoirs and walking area, but especially for the Caminito del Rey that commences only a short walk away. The service is excellent with friendly and helpful staff. During our stay we had a problem with our car and Elena (on reception) went out of her way to assist us and acted as a translator. The restaurant food is varied and very good.
Review 7:The hotel design is just 'odd'...with the rooms below the lobby. This is a function of the hillside location, but its a bit disconcerting. Ah...but the Food made up for it ! :)
Review 8:Beautiful location, we spent two nights at the Posada. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the Food was wonderful. Staff was able to get us access to the Caminito Del Rey--a walk which we VERY HIGHLY recommend! You can take the bus (1 Euro) from El Chorro to and from the Posada.
Review 9:Tiny TV, looks like from the 1980s. Only 1 channel was working. Outdated furniture and decor. Wifi was hardly working. Breakfast looked poor so we went to El Kiosko restaurant 5min walk- much much better and cheaper.
Review 10:Near the start of the Caminito del Rey and nicely situated next to the lake/dam
Review 11:The Booking.com service changing date was bad and misleading. The answer on trying to change the booking: fully booked was totally wrong as only 5 rooms were occupied.Book the Camenito before hotel. We managed to book everything directly contacting the hotel. Booking com did not even answer our emails!
Review 12:Servicemindet staff. Good dinner. Perfect location if you want to walk the Camino del Rey from October to April
Review 13:It was chilly in the evening, but no heating in rooms. The dining room was better, fortified by a nice log fire.
Review 14:Staff and food good. Atmosphere with other clients was, I imagine like Everest base camp, the night before the ascent. Virtually everyone on the walking challenge.
Review 15:No wifi or television come toon due to the weather and the mountains
Review 16:Very respectful and helpful staff, put themselves out to make sure our stay was perfect
Review 17:think Fawlty Towers...! Very quirky. There had been a terrible storm the night before we arrived and lightning hit the power line, so the hotel had no power or water (as the water was pumped) when we arrived. The receptionist seemed completely confused that we had arrived. Luckily power came on later on, so we could turn the lights on and flush the toilets! Turned up to breakfast at 8:30am as agreed the night before, and same receptionist (i don't think she slept) advised that breakfast started at 9 as the waiter and cook hadn't arrived yet....
Review 18:Location near the reservoir and El Caminito del Rey is fantastic
Review 19:Homely rather than smart hotel, which suited us just fine. Staff went out of their way to help - they put extra beds in the room for the kids. Cooked a dish our kids would eat, that wasn't on the menu! And got us tickets for the amazing Camino del Rey walk.
Review 20:Nothing!
Review 21:Location was excellent for starting Caminito del Rey. Food was first class and reasonably priced. Adel on reception went out of his way to make things right for us.
Review 22:Breakfast and dinner far too late. Electricity broke down during and after a thunderstorm which impacted hugely on our arrangements
Review 23:It was suitable for our purpose.
Review 24:Wifi not very good in room, better in reception area but would not say a big negative at all. Have to catch bus to Ardales, then taxi to the hotel which is easy
Review 25:Helpful staff, wonderful location by the lake, beautiful. Also best place to stay to walk the El Caminito deal Rey and the best point to start the walk
Review 26:Confusion over booking notes written in booking.com were not read properly and then manager was a little difficult receptionist however was extremely helpful.
Review 27:Location
Review 28:The twin beds were a little hard and the corridors a little noise with guest coming and going.
Review 29:A very friendly hotel with very hardworking and very pleasant staff they went out of their way to please good service. . The food was very good. A very clean hotel and a Great location.
Review 30:The rooms are pretty old fashioned, we didnt get a double bed just two twin beds. Also should make better signs with directions
Review 31:Great location if you going to Caminito del Rey or the dam and the surrounding valle. The lakes around are just magnifisient
Review 32:The air conditioning in our room was not working, no remote so wasn't sure whether this was an extra. Therefore didn't sleep well because too hot. Noisy neighbours who got up very early at 7am and could hear their noisy water/ fan when showering etc so woke us up. I also left something by accident and sent email to hotel in Spanish but they did not reply as to whether it was there or not so will now have to call back to see if there which could be a waste of time if not. Cannot telephone as do not speak Spanish very well. .
Review 33:The staff were very friendly. Nice to watch the deers from outside the hotel and short walk to lake.
Review 34:Wi-fi didn't seem to work properly in the rooms. The breakfast overpriced for its quality. Also, the staff didn't mention that we have to pay additionally for parking the car in the hotel parking place: it wasn't much, but with lots of free parking space in front of the hotel, they could've mentioned this extra charge.
Review 35:Spacious and clean rooms with nice bathrooms and comfortable beds. Friendly staff. The owner books tickets to Caminito del Rey and that's the main advantage!
Review 36:Some confusion over need for extra bed even though written in notes on booking.com. Then subsequent problem with payment. Though new receptionist on desk very nice and patiently sorted it out.
Review 37:Restaurant staff really great, very friendly and helpful. Hotel very efficiently run.
Review 38:Rooms are smaller than we expected, sound isolation from the corridor isn't the best, WiFi works well on the reception only. A bit expensive for the value.
Review 39:The best location in the area, very friendly staff, good looking and clean hotel, good breakfast
Review 40:We went to research hotel for potential base for walking groups doing a week in Loja but to include Caminito del Rey and Torcal. The hotel was perfect, only 400m from tunnel leading to Caminito del Rey and many other routes. A much nicer starting point than el chorro with added benefit of beautiful reservoir for water sports.
Review 41:-L'accueil très chaleureux du personnel et en particulier Adel à la réception. -La vue sur la vallée -Le personnel nous a trouvé des billets pour le Caminito del Rey
Review 42:the facilities are not as described. The hotel has no outdoor area and only the restaurant has a small terrace to the road. The rooms must be different - ours was a small one only worth half the price which were 77 euro. Breakfast (6 euro) with good coffee but juice, marmelade, pressed ham and cheese was the lowest quality, bad tasting.
Review 43:The area is magnificent and close to Caminito del Rey and we got a delicious dinner with lamb, the staff was polite, but ..
Review 44:No need to book car parking as plenty free and safe parking right outside.
Review 45:The view, in the middle of nature, best sleep ever, great breakfast. Big thank you to the staff and for the warm welcome. Highly recommended. Only short drive from El Camino del Rey / El Chorro.
Review 46:The restaurant was closed on Monday nights. Breakfast was served from 8.30 and we had to leave earlier so went hungry!
Review 47:The Oasis restaurant was brilliant. Helpful staff. Good walking in the area.
Review 48:I am not addicted to the internet but it would have been nice to be able to check my e-mails once a day.
Review 49:We both enjoyed the personal service, the comfort of the room and the food.
Review 50:That there was not a self service breakfast. We had included breakfast in our booking. We were not informed by the waiter that you could order what ever you wanted when we sat down for breakfast. We had toast and coffee with a glass of fresh orange juice which was nice... Other clients from the Hotel came in and ordered bacon and eggs and everything else. They had stayed there before and new how to order but we were not advised this and were just asked what we wanted for breakfast and not informed that we could order an English breakfast and anything else and repeat if necessary. We complained to the receptionist and he kindly informed us that this has happened before were the waiter did not explain to the clients that we could order what ever we wanted for breakfast including an English breakfast. So if you stay make sure this does not happen to you. :) other than that all was good. I would stay there again.
Review 51:I liked the views from the room and the peaceful setting very near the lake. Great restaurant near by overlooking the lake called El Kiosko at a reasonable price.
Review 52:Loved the location by the reservoir where had a swim. Staff very welcoming and informative. Restaurant closed on the day we stayed but excellent alternative a short walk away.
Review 53:Nothing really
Review 54:Location, great if you like the outdoors, cycling, walking, fishing, swimming, climbing. Peaceful! Yet 3 or 4 restaurants in walking distance. El Chorro amazing. Walk along the river. Good facilities in the hotel. Did not dine there as only there one night but wish it had been more as so much to explore
Review 55:The only negative thing I can think of to say is that the wi-fi wasn't working in our room but it didn't affect our enjoyment of this hotel.
Review 56:Beautiful room with stunning views; it was very comfortable and spacious. It is in the heart of the Guadalhorce area, close to good restaurants.
Review 57:Receptionist could not speak enough English to give us directions to property when we were havinh difficulty locating it.
Review 58:Room was good, nice outlook, dinner was satisfactory, breakfasr was poor.
Review 59:Continental breakfast was paper thin plastic ham and tasteless cheese, with had toasted bread. Awful.Spain has great meats, cheese and breads so why SO bad? Bar staff we're nice till we got to about 11, when they started to make us feel unwelcome so we would leave, we had to take our drinks to the lounge area. When we checked out we were not asked about how our stay was, it was give us the money and go! won't go back.
Review 60:location, room, lounge. view
Review 61:The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The rooms lovely and the restaurant great. The shoulder of lamb was amazing. We loved everything and we will definitely be back. Thank you all for a lovely stay. Oh, and the lakes are worth a visit too!!
Review 62:Homely and friendly hotel ideally located near the northern end of the Caminito del Rey.
Review 63:Didn't like bed and pillow
Review 64:Location was beautiful and good trekking place.
Review 65:dining area not very nice
Review 66:excellent location, great area for walking
Review 67:Wifi limited to the common areas
Review 68:Really close to the caminito del rey trailhead
Review 69:Excellent location for nature
Review 70:Location and view Helpful staff
Review 71:Very helpful receptionist
Review 72:Good location and restaurant. Friendly staff.
Review 73:Tiny room, Dirty, Old shower head, Wi-Fi didn't work, Unkind staff, Bad smell.
Review 74:Great views within a walking distance
Review 75:It is a 3 star and for a 3 star it is great!
Review 76:Location was great! What a wonderful area.
Review 77:Breakfast time is a bit late for us Could feel mattress springs.... Room 104
Review 78:Lovely receptionist and waiter
Review 79:The courtesy of the staff: the quality of the food: the situation of the hotel. Would definitely stay again
Review 80:Great place to visit reservoirs and the Camimito
Review 81:I should say the lack of a pool, but that meant we had to swim in the lake which was amazing.
Review 82:Location was amazing, staff were incredibly friendly.
Review 83:Poor value for money - second time staying
Review 84:Wi if was so bad it was impossible to use
Review 85:The barman Juan was excellent
Review 86:We hadn't good wifi signal in room
Review 87:Everything, very friendly staff, good restaurant. They helped me to get ticket to Caminto del Rey
Review 88:Friendliness of staff
Review 89:Familiar ambient, quite, nature...
Review 90:Friendly helpful staff. Peaceful location. Comfortable room.
Review 91:Ideally situated between the lakes. quiet, comfortable and friendly.
Review 92:Breakfast was extremely limited. Not any choices.
Review 93:The Staff were excellent and very helpful.
Review 94:Nothing
Review 95:The staff were very helpful and the location is excellent.
Review 96:Staff is wonderfull. The receptionist gave lots of information about our cycling route. Our bikes were quite save in the garage. We had a wonderful meal in the evening. When we went off on our bikes for Ronda the next morning he came after us by car with our map, we had forgotten. Neil thanks to you we arrived there save.
Review 97:It's a minor detail : The terrace is near the road, so we had to eat inside to be able to see the nature around. It's not a busy road though. The coffee could be improved.
Review 98:Staff was very helpful. Informed us on what to do in the area, gave us maps and explained everything clearly and in details. We had their lamb (their speciality) and it was very good. The room had a nice view.
Review 99:Sound insulation between rooms is poor. There should be flat screen TV in the bedroom.
Review 100:Helpful staff. Safe and free garage for our bicycles. The lounge and log fire is a nice place to relax. The restaurant serves good food.
Review 101:No tea or coffee facilities in room or were the staff willing to makeone after our drive from Malaga. I usually like continual breakfast butagain not much effort or thought. Where were the lovely Spanishtomatoes? Though advertised - where was the Hot Tub and under floorheating? Luckily they did provide us with a electric heater or the roomwould have been very cold. We were the only guest so the service shouldhave been better.
Review 102:Lovely location between the three reservoirs. Lovely view from bedroomwindow. The hotel it self is a interesting building and the lounge wouldhave been great if the log fire had been lit! Luckily we found arestaurant 5 minutes away with staff which were welcoming and a lovelyroaring log fire. A good area to visit for walking and seeing anotherside to Spain.
Review 103:Paying for the hotel parking is unnecessary at quieter times of the year. Waterproof mattress covers (on the single beds) were unexpected + affected the beds' comfort.
Review 104:Helpful guidance on local walks.
Review 105:The breakfast at 6.75 euro lefts lots to be desired. Bedding and room make-up a bit old.
Review 106:The setting is amazing. Quiet, intimate and the staff was very helpful. Clean.
Review 107:The breakfast is very basic and needs to be improved.
Review 108:Location is fantastic and the scenery is spectacular. The area is greatfor walking, cycling, sightseeing or relaxing by the lakes. The hotel isgood and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Oasis restaurantand bar is also excellent. It's a little more expensive than someother restaurants in the area but is much better value.
Review 109:Old tv in bedroom, aerial didn't work well so not a good picture. Notea/ coffee making facilities in room. A small fridge would havebeen useful. The hotel restaurant rather expensive and I didn't seeanyone dine there during my 3 night stay.
Review 110:Tha hotel was typical, authentic Spanish in style. A lovely receptionarea with comfortable seating and plasma tv to spend the evening inenjoying a drink after dinner. The rooms were of a good size, veryclean with adequate bathroom facilities. Our room faced onto thestreet at the front of the hotel, road very quiet and few peoplewalked past so no problem. The staff were extremely friendly, fluentin English and took time to ask about how we spent our day. Very good, inexpensive restaurant 10 mins walk away called El Kiosko, lovelyviews over the lakes.
Review 111:The breakfast was a let down considering the meal the night before, not a lot of choice, however if you're happy with a croissant and coffee you'll be fine. The price of €6 per head though we thought a bit hot and the beds were lovely and clean but they were a tad hard.
Review 112:The hotel was superb and the evening meal was excellent as we had the house special "Shoulder of Lamb" Friendly staff and good service.
Review 113:Too pricey for what they are offering. The room was under the reception floor with a window to the parking. I bit noisy. Breakfast not worth paying for as they say they offer a continental breakfast. they only have bread and margarine, three rotten oranges and some orange tasteless liquid they called orange juice. We complaint and they made us a fresh juice...but only after we complain. we booked it thinking that they will no be other bars around, but they are many. we had dinner in a small restaurant around the corner and the food was excellent and at a very good price!
Review 114:I liked the location.
Review 115:A great place to stay for that specific region. I'd rate solid four stars. Excellent food in a restaurant. Shall check in again for sure if return some day.
Review 116:Perhaps the restaurant could have been cheaper but the kiosk up the road provided a great alternative.
Review 117:Great location; very clean hotel. Staff very helpful
Review 118:Little or no choice at breakfast and very hard mattress
Review 119:Helpful staff, safe reasonably priced parking, good location for walks, swimming in nearby lake and for visiting other nearby areas of interest.
Review 120:The hotel had at the time difficulty with Internet connection. therefore they and guests were not able to use internet, nor Wi-Fi
Review 121:Very helpful and friendly staff. Very nice, stylish, quiet hotel in a beautiful location
Review 122:Hotel room was not in a very clean shape..the corners were very hairy and dirty!
Review 123:Very nice located at the lake. Trail to the view point 'el Chorro' from the other side is nice! The restaurant 'el mirador' by car 3 min is ok..view very good! Ardales has a great tapas bar!
Review 124:Beautiful location. Staff were excellent. Restaurant food was amazing.
Review 125:Friendly staff, nice rooms, excellent restaurant & much more, find out ;)
Review 126:We paid extra for a "balcony" tiny, not worth the money
Review 127:Location, hotel very well presented, staff excellent
