Reviews for La Villa Mazarin

WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

Review 2:Sad that the dining room was unavailable due to renovations.

Review 3:A beautiful and historic old building lovingly restored. Large and quiet room plus "running of the bulls" during the Fete Votive.

Review 4:The fact that there was no Tea facilities in the room. The bathroom although very grand and huge could have done with a better walking shower , rather than 2 wadhbasins ?

Review 5:we like the house /villa- the decor of the bedrooms, the comfort of the bed/

Review 6:I've been in the Junior suite, a fascinating room with the smell of the French history... the restaurant is good and the solarium-pool-garden area is really fine. The building itself seems to be a good example of a fine ancient gentry house. I feel that I will be back here. Taking in account that villa Mazarin is located in south France also the price accommodation could be considered interesting.

Review 7:- No mini bar - Poor breakfast - Poor wi-fi

Review 8:- Perfect Location - Clean and comfortable bedroom - Good facilities (swimming pool and parking) - Beautiful garden

Review 9:No table available for dinner as fully booked already. Would have been nice if they made an effort to squeeze us in as we were staying there.

Review 10:Location, upgrade to junior suite and outstanding room, beautiful building and grounds, easy parking and concierge/reception welcome was excellent.

Review 11:Our stay was wonderful in this beautiful hotel within the walls of this beautiful ancient town. I would strongly recommend this location and hotel. If you have a car with you then book a parking space as there are only around 12 available. Parking outside the hotel is very difficult and you may find that you are parked far away.

Review 12:ease of finding. excellent greeting. helpful staff. comfort very good. food good but a longer stay may have caused problems with a limited, but good, amount of choices. Easily accessible and secure garage. lovely swimming pool

Review 13:Restaurant was not open, would have wanted to eat there.

Review 14:Excellent service, very peaceful place. We will go back! Room spacious, however nothing extra ordinary.

Review 15:Our fifth stay so could not say more.love the hotel, friendly staff and the town. It would be nice if there were armchairs in the rooms as enough space. Sadly the restaurant was closed but Le Particulier in the centre of town was excellent.

Review 16:With my wife we spent our first romantic week end there and went back the first day of honey moon. The spa was on maintenance, and they give us a new room with private sauna. Great! The place is very beatiful, old building with great garden and swimming pool giving on the garden. Excellent breakfast, excellent value for money. Little downsides, as nobody is perfect, too much clorum in the jacuzzi and breakfast time only until 10.

Review 17:Hotel is right in the middle of the old town and has private parking facilities.Helpful staff. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. Pool and garden area are nicely kept and relaxing areas.

Review 18:Some of the furniture needed an uplift.

Review 19:The room was spacious. We liked the architecture and the layout of the hotel. The parking is a great asset in this ancient town.

Review 20:Room was fairly small and lacked light. Air con achieved little. Our friends said the same. Shutters or windows needed to be closed at night due to mosquitoes resulting in a hot, stuffy room

Review 21:Location, very helpful staff. I would chose this hotel again but would ask for a bigger, brighter room with air con which worked.

Review 22:Nothing. Let's have a villa Mazarin in every town.

Review 23:Welcome excellent. Parking on site David at reception is magnificent & is able to help with everything. He is an asset for the hotel. Top grade products in bathroom .In centre of aigues mortes. Swimming pool heated & clean. Beautiful garden to eat breakfast in in morning. Good value for cost.

Review 24:The dining room staff don't speak English (Yes - I know. When I am in France I should speak French), but it did cause a mix up in my dinner order because my French was mistaken for another dish.

Review 25:Everything.

Review 26:We stayed here some years ago and long wanted to return. Regrettably, the wonderful, comfortable and idiosyncratic lounge area has been almost completely converted into a formal dining room, with a menu which is pricey. Unlikely to return. Wifi is so weak in the bedrooms as to be almost impossible to use.

Review 27:The location is excellent, being inside the town walls and having secure parking. The indoor pool, sauna and steam room are excellent.

Review 28:Restaurant was disappointing. The service was very good, but the food itself whilst OK just did not live up to expectations.

Review 29:Overall excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Spacious, comfortable room and bed. Large bathroom. Bed linen and towels of a good quality ( referring to a standard room). Ideal setting within walls of Aigues Mortes. Excellent breakfast spread. Peaceful garden and pool area

Review 30:the mosquitoes but not much the hotel could do about (maybe mosquito repellent plugs?)

Review 31:Very friendly staff. Beautiful decor and spacious room. Indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Good breakfast (the real coffee and fresh croissant made the difference).

Review 32:The receptionist was welcoming and showed us around the hotel when we arrived. I liked the location and the style of the hotel. It's inside the old town wall, and fits the style of the medieval town. Spacious room with nice decor and airconditioning. It was a relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful garden and good pool/sauna facilities. We also had a delicious dinner at the hotel's restaurant.

Review 33:Nothing at all!

Review 34:If that was a standard room we can not imagine what a superior room would be like. It was superb! And the staff were excellent. Thank you.

Review 35:We received a wonderful warm welcome and were shown to large comfortable room with a huge bathroom that included a walk-in shower. The Michelin starred restaurant added to our experience and I would wholeheartedly recommend Villa Mazarin.

Review 36:Unable to keep window open at night due to proximity to noise from road below, even though there is little traffic. WiFi required logon every time.

Review 37:Helpful and friendly staff, lovely old building and big rooms. Breakfast in the garden a treat. Has parking, which is essential in this town. Convenient for a short stroll to restaurants, bars etc.

Review 38:This could be a 5-star if some minor deficiencies like some room amneties (air con! ) would be fixed.

Review 39:Attentive staff, quiet property in the center of Aigues Mortes close to everything. Good level 4-star this is real value. Rooms are spacious & despite most comments staff is lovely, breakfast is good.

Review 40:A historic house in the center of town, full of charm and confort. Great pool for cooling down on a hot day, and super staff to help with every need.

Review 41:nothing ...would love to return

Review 42:the classic decor traditional yet modern, the beautiful garden shaded by mature plane trees, the pool though indoor works because it's huge glass doors open to the garden. Indoor and outdoor dining equally lovely, functional rooms but smart and large bathrooms with Clarins toiletries. Excellent helpful and polite staff. Superb Michelin starred restaurant and best breakfasts we have had in a long time - everything has been well thought out and considered catering for everyones tastes but in no way compromising and diluting the quality of the food. Underground parking safe and secure very handy in a walled town where no cars are allowed, though at 15 euros a day might add up for long stays.

Review 43:Great room on the ground floor overlooking the gardens. Lovely pool and sun deck areas, excellent staff, very friendly and efficient. Great location within the walled old town.

Review 44:The owner was very offhand. I expected toiletries to be replenished but they were not. Breakfast was very disappointing, meagre and overpriced.

Review 45:The charming courtyard. Dinner was very good but had to ask the staff to slow down as courses were served one after the other.

Review 46:Didn't like: having check out.

Review 47:Every detail superb, ate dinner in the garden outside the room which extremely good, I would recommend it for a Michelin star. Gorgeous swimming pool, easy underground paring, very helpful concierge. Beautiful hotel.

Review 48:Incredibly noisy air con unit on the roof meant that sleep would be impossible - staff dealt with this by switching it off. Breakfast expensive and when the morning waiter (who was attentive and efficient) wasn't on duty was no better than a holiday inn express. Restaurant wouldn't serve a vegetarian so we never got to eat in the hotel. Although there is a bar there was nobody to serve at it and no means to call for service - a bell might help!? The barely used restaurant dominates and we were left wondering if we had booked into a restaurant with b & b rooms attached rather than a 4 star hotel.

Review 49:Location is good with little road noise. Room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Pool was well used. The issues that we had were dealt with satisfactorily by the friendly staff. Aigues Morte and the surrounding area are lovely.

Review 50:We had a wonderful time. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be returning!

Review 51:Excellent Hotel in a very nice location. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:Felt in a lovely cacoon in the frenetic walled city

Review 54:Quiet and beautiful; friendly staff, lovely swimming pool

Review 55:The lack of coffee or tea facilities.

Review 56:Lovely quiet environment not to many people at one time, allows you time to relax

Review 57:Wifi was down but no big issue as these things happen

Review 58:Lovely property, pool, grounds and great breakfast

Review 59:no problems

Review 60:Excellent hotel , our room was superb, great position within Aigue Morte which is a great place to be

Review 61:Ambiance

Review 62:Service, room, breakfast. Hotel has good location and character

Review 63:Unfortunately, the shower at the pool was out of order.

Review 64:The decor, gardens, restaurant and decoration: the rooms were spacious.

Review 65:Service a bit offhand. Rooms not serviced until late afternoon. Too much renovation work going on.

Review 66:Great location. Lovely, large room. Nice garden

Review 67:Leaving !!!!!

Review 68:Excellent welcome by David again , the new rooms are magnificent and a delight to stay at , we will return soon!!

Review 69:The whole experience. Dinner and breakfast exceptional!

Review 70:Space, comfort & garden in the heart of the city

Review 71:Great hotel, nice staff and we will return when the restaurant is open.

Review 72:staff were SO friendly

Review 73:Beautiful hotel, full of character. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were large and luxurious

Review 74:No elevator.

Review 75:We liked everything. A beautiful old palace renovated. Staff fantastic, food great location great. Parking great.

Review 76:Air conditioning was not working properly.

Review 77:A terrific experience. Liked everything.

Review 78:Unique location within the old city walls of Aigues-Mortes Nice accomodation in the middle of the town

Review 79:Staff were more than helpful and the hotel was charming .

Review 80:Beautiful building in a fantastic central setting in a perfect little town. Would loved to have stayed longer.

Review 81:Everything. The town was enchanting and the hotel as good as any.

Review 82:Every day had to renew internet connection.

Review 83:Room was spacious and area quiet.

Review 84:We are an elderly couple and would have appreciated support rails to the spacious shower area. Also support rails to navigate into the pool. Sleepless night due to noisy aircon fans - they are working on this and compensated us.

Review 85:Garden; friendliness of staff and help they gave. Food imaginatively presented and prepared. Perfect position in town

Review 86:Nothing.

Review 87:We were very well looked after and made very welcome. There is a large garage on site, particularly useful in Aigues Mortes where parking is at a premium.

Review 88:We really enjoyed our stay in Villa Mazarin. The service was top class as was the room and facilities. I would recommend having dinner in the restaurant. It was superb. Perfectly located within the walls of the old city and perfect as a base to stay while in the Camargue area. We will be back. Would recommend to a friend!

Review 89:The hotel was lovely. Everywhere you looked was a feast for the eyes. The rooms were a good size and very comfortable. The pool, hot tub, sauna and hamman were most enjoyable. Breakfasts were good and staff very helpful.

Review 90:Car park and breakfast too expensive. Not being told that the restaurant was shut before we arrived. This ended up being a very big inconvenience for us. Satellite TV did not receive any English channels. No tea/coffee making facilities

Review 91:Location - Friendly Staff and spa facilities

Review 92:Pool opening times would have been good to find in the roominformation pack.

Review 93:All members of staff were very helpful. The swimming pool was glorious. The food was a delight to the palate.

Review 94:The hotel was beautiful. The room was lovely and the hotel had an excellent pool. The staff were very helpful and charming particularly Fabian. The breakfast was very good. We would stay there again.

Review 95:The Villa Mazaran is an beautiful hotel with fantatsic facilities and charm. The setting is unique and beautifully restored to make a truly outstanding hotel. All of the staff were very helpful and frendly and made our short stay fantastic. I would highly recommend the Villa Mazarin.

Review 96:The doors had to be pulled hard to shut, and therefore made a loud slamming noise. People with children did not control the noise of the children in the communal garden/space - not the hotel's fault at all!

Review 97:The Receptionist Fabien was vital to the satisfaction of our stay. He was so helpful, polite, and courteous. Having the parking underneath. Large spacious rooms and bathrooms. The whole atmosphere was elegant, smart and refined. Perfect for what we wanted and expected.

Review 98:Warning; stay away !!!.I booked this hotel due to the fact that is a recognized restaurant. The hotel is built around the restaurant and it has a good reputation. I called the hotel to ensure that I had a parking for the night and drove from Scandinavia 2000 km to have a salibration dinner. Whilst arriving the parking was not ensured and after a long discussions the hotel found a place for the car. However, the dinner we drove 2000 km to have, we could not have due to the fact that the restaurant was full with guest from outside the hotel and we was never served. I requested management 3 times and was arrogantly rejected. Next morning for breakfast I realize the hotel do not have breakfast but a snak buffet only. The hotel blamed me that I had not booked dinner, but what is the purpose of a gormet hotel if you can not have dinner, just a middle standard rom priced to 300 EURO !!. ??

Review 99:Stay away from this place !!!.

Review 100:People eating at the restaurant outside the window/door and the need to not disturb them.

Review 101:Breakfast was good. The building was beautiful and well decorated

Review 102:Excellent hotel if you would like to stay within the city walls of Aigues-Mortes. Spacious rooms in the setting of a medieval villa. Helpful and friendly staff.

Review 103:No english translation of menu and staff couldn't explain it. Great food but frustrating to order.

Review 104:Great ambience, lovely internal courtyard, indoor pool. Excellent basement carpark.

Review 105:Pool area is a bit old and could be renovated. Breakfast is very poor.

Review 106:The classical and beautiful decoration, The interior courtyard. The staff very welcoming and professional, discrete. The great facilities.

Review 107:It would have been nice to have tea-making facility in room.

Review 108:Lovely peaceful garden; warm pool; large comfortable room, friendly helpful staff ... good location inside the mediaeval town walls; can't fault it!

Review 109:Staff lacking warm and friendliness. I also consider itunacceptable that they could not boil an egg for breakfastconsidering breakfast cost 14€

Review 110:Location was perfect within the city walls. Sumptuous elegance

Review 111:Fabulous hotel! Majestic building, beautiful courtyard garden - all classically stylish, and with a lovely indoor heated pool. Our room was impeccably appointed, and the bathroom was huge! A real destination hotel in a very charming and vibrant medieval town.

Review 112:Beautiful old villa with spacious, well-appointed rooms in a charming village. Great jumping off point for exploring the area. Would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Review 113:This is our third visit and we were not disappointed It is such an elegant hotel and the swimming pool is a great addition and the grounds very pleasant to sit in.

Review 114:On the downside, the breakfast was 14€ but pretty ordinary with nocooked option.

Review 115:Aigues Mortes is a magical and fascinating place that time forgot. There's also everything to do - bike riding, beaches, museums andmonuments, horse riding, bird watching, bullfighting, infinite walksinto the horizon - and the Villa Mazarin is the perfect place to do itall from. Inside the square, Mediaeval walled-in village, surrounded bymarshes, black bulls, white horses and a whole lot of sky, the hotel iswarm, luxurious and regally decorated. Whether you just want a romanticbreak or are searching for the holy grail, the hotel fires one'simagination. Our room (the Prestige) was enormous with an equally vastbathroom, with bath and shower, double sink, large tv - all a family offour could want. The pool, jacuzzi and and steam room were spacious with an indulgent and relaxed atmosphere, newspapers, loungers, etc. which was a real joy especially on a cold weekend in January. We also really appreciated that it stayed open till 12pm. We had a good dinner there, a menu option of 29€. The hotel is impressively managed and guests are treated with a distant respect.

Review 116:Fantastic 15 century building! Very big rooms decorated in old style. Outstanding restaurant, absolutely great!!! Inside swimming pool, sauna and hammam.
