Reviews for Hotel Peñón Grande

Review 1:It's a little bit of a ways to town. You need a car from this hotel to get to the city center.

Review 2:Hotel is very nice with large rooms and bathrooms. Very clean and comfortable.

Review 3:The only complaint- we could not raise the storm shade on our window which looked out on the street and onto the church across the street. The hotel person warned us that it was difficult to open and to be careful with it.

Review 4:Hotel Penon Grande was on the main street, just past the main square and free parking was available a block away. The room was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of places to eat nearby. We had lovely walks going both directions down the main street.

Review 5:Although the staff was knowledgeable, I didn't feel a friendliness that you would like.

Review 6:Location, close to the center of town, good wifi, and knowledgeable staff who recommended one of the best restaurant we have eaten in

Review 7:Extremely helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to assist us . Spotlessly clean hotel in a beautiful village. Stayed 2 nights--would have liked to stay longer.

Review 8:The a/c was not very powerful. The shower was pretty small.

Review 9:The property is lovely and well renovated, it really feels like anauthentic spanish hotel. The owner and her daughter were very attentiveto our needs and spoke French to us when they noticed that our Spanishwas shaky. The location is also perfect and everything is clean.

Review 10:A lovely traditional hotel with good bathroom facilities. Family run and very friendly. The person on the desk particularly helpfully when I needed to phone ahead to another hotel. Right next to the main square where the locals ate and drank. Wonderful escape from the city.

Review 11:nothing

Review 12:Perfect location ..spotlessly clean....although it didnt have facitilites for breakfast it was only a short step outside to find breakfast and resteraunts....church bells stopped at midnight and resumed again at 8am.....staff pleasant and helpful.....would reccomend this hotel for a short stay to explore the area

Review 13:It could be a little gloomy for some

Review 14:The deco was quirky and clearly done by a collector of eclectic 'stuff' - cleverly done and always something to look at. Exceptionally clean and fairly quiet but close to road so a bit of traffic noise in morning

Review 15:We were charged 25 euros for one load of washing witout ironing all put in as one lot and the girls did not get their bra's back which was disturbing. Do not get any washing done here.

Review 16:Clean and comfortable hotel with tasteful interior but no restaurant so you have to get breakfast at local bars which are plentiful and good so not a problem.

Review 17:No complaints.

Review 18:Family run business with French, German and English spoken in addition to Spanish. Very helpful information re : Village and surrounding area. Excellent, central location to explore the Village.

Review 19:I wish European hotels would provide wash cloths. I take my own, but would rather not. Not a big deal, but I was uncomfortable with the gang of cigarette smoking men who blocked the sidewalk next door to the hotel.

Review 20:Very concerned and helpful German owner. We only choose hotels with elevator, so this was good. We liked being "right in the middle of things." Hotel was extremely clean. We liked the warm local blankets.

Review 21:The room was a bit basic but perfectly acceptable for the price, with extra Grazalema blankets as it was a bit chilly. Heating a bit ineffectual but we really only needed that as we were chilled after getting very wet walking and needed to dry coats and boots.

Review 22:The location right in the middle of town and opposite the church. Especially as it was pouring with rain;we only had to walk 1 minute to find restaurants etc. The warm welcome from the proprietor who was very helpful. Very clean and great bathroom with plentiful hot water which was much appreciated. Wifi good. Will definitely return. NB the church bells opposite are stopped at night - very thoughtful!

Review 23:Rooms are small, but that is part of living in a small old-fashioned hotel at the city centre. This is not a complaint, rather a recognition of the circumstances.

Review 24:Very nice, centrally located, extremely clean and well managed. New bathroom facility, absolutely top class.

Review 25:-friendly and helpful desk clerk -large well-appointed room and en suite bathroom (the nicest accommodations during our vacation) -quiet enough to leave window open at night onto an enclosed garden of potted plants -great linens and towels

Review 26:Having to have your passport to check in. The lady at reception was incredulous that we didn't have our passports with us which we had left in our friends apartment two hours away.

Review 27:Very clean and good location.

Review 28:It is dark, the bells outside were deafening I got no sleep because of the bells the hardness of the bed and the flat pillow also the shower was tiny.

Review 29:It was clean and the room was a fair size the ladies at the desk are very helpful

Review 30:Everything about our stay was good. Staff very friendly and spoke English which was a great help. Fantastic location, parking not a problem, bars & restaurants really good value for money.

Review 31:Parking is a bit difficult in Grazalema, especially during a day but you can still park for a while right in front of the hotel to load/unload your luggage.

Review 32:Excellent location just few meters from many restaurants and bars, very nice and friendly staff, room small but very comfortable - I have found there (and in the bathroom & shower) everything I needed, easy connection to wifi (no additional web logins).

Review 33:Small shower. I couldn't turn around or move. My wife couldn't either and she's only 4'11", 99 lbs.

Review 34:Location and cleanliness

Review 35:More a problem with Booking.com. One requests a double bed, but upon arrival, the hotel did not have any spare...

Review 36:Central location

Review 37:The Pueblo of Grazalema with its great bars/restaurants. Surrounding area - stunning.

Review 60:Very comfortable, great location, friendly owner.

Review 61:The church bell ringing late at night

Review 62:A lift

Review 63:Small village. Central location.

Review 64:Nothing.

Review 65:Location = center of the village; clean, excellent reception, view on the street in our room. Lovely

Review 66:Poor level of lighting in rooms and timerswitch lighting on corridors and stairs. Booking.com promotes the hotel with breakfast/meals available, this is incorrect, the property is strictly rooms only, as I was told several times.

Review 67:Central location, close to breakfast bar and good restaurants.

Review 68:Noise from street, but not too bad.

Review 69:loved the Staff. Very friendly and helpful. Location was awesome. Hotel is old, but so is every building in Grazalema. It was very nicely decorated.

Review 70:The lovely mother and daughter team who ran the hotel. They were very helpful in finding our way around and kindly let us try our limited Spanish. The decoration in rural theme was very nicely done.

Review 71:The roads are a little narrow approach Grazalema.

Review 72:The location is excellent being right in the middle of town. Also, the free parking was very close. The room had a small terrace looking at the church across the street. We drove to several hill town villages during our stay and Grazalema was our favorite. The staff did a great job of giving us a hiking route that we enjoyed very much.

Review 73:Can be noisey during the day into the evening. Church right across the road loves to ring it's bells.

Review 74:Like the property. In the middle of everthing.

Review 75:The air conditioning worked, but not well and it was quite hot in Grazalema.

Review 76:We loved Grazalema, and this Hotel couldn't have been more central. The owner was very helpful, directing us to several day hikes in the area. The bathroom was comfortable and had a great shower.

Review 77:Wi-fi signal was quite weak.

Review 78:Extremely clean with the best location in town. The receptionist seemed to be there 24 hours a day, very impressive! Excellent value for money. Cheap in fact.

Review 79:Right on the square in Grazelema. The hotel is very convenient for walking around the town or as a base for walking/hiking in the area. It doesn't have a restaurant, but there are lots of choices on the square. Staff were hospitable and informative. Excellent value! Grazelema was my favourite peublo blanco.

Review 80:Great location in the midst of the Pueblo Blancos where we did day hikes or visited castles (Zahara). Hotel room was small but very clean with good room service. Our Spanish was poor but eventually communicated with hotel staff. They went out of their way to be helpful. Bedding including locally made wool blankets which added a nice touch.

Review 81:Inn-keeper always asked for your key while you were out; a security measure I suppose.

Review 82:friendliness of the staff. Very accommodating. Good location, decent room and amenities. Outstanding value.

Review 83:There was nothing to not like here. We could not have breakfast here.

Review 84:The owner of the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful and keen to make sure our stay was enjoyable.. .

Review 85:Nothing

Review 86:Helpful, friendly and caring owner. Great location, giving access to wonderful walks and enjoyment of flora and fauna. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was serviced everyday. Excellent value highly recommended.

Review 87:Noisy location if have a room on street as opposite church which tollsits bells too much E.G. 26 tolls of bell for 11.00pm, but then get arespite pretty much until 8.oo am. And also motor bike noise...but it isspain so have your ear plugs

Review 88:Convenient location, clean, courteous staff

Review 89:It was cold in the room...heat wasn't on but there were extra blankets.

Review 90:Free parking. Great location on main street. Grazelema is easy to get around.

Review 91:no wifi reach in room

Review 92:wifi in some areas clean generous sized room generous sized bathroom bathroom with window very clean throughout excellent lift very friendly staff great view central location close-by parking friendly welcoming hostess

Review 93:The heating was not working and the room was freezing, also the thinrough wool blankets provided might be local and authentic but theyweren't very warm, a duvet would be much nicer! Also the shower wasa tiny cubicle. Main complaint was how noisy the location was, on themain little street and directly opposite the church, church bellstoiling loudly every 15 mins till 11pm, argh!

Review 94:Grazalema and the surrounding area is very beautiful, unfortunately itwas rainy and freezing cold when I was there. The rooms are a good sizeand plenty of hot water in the shower

Review 95:It was not really important for me, but would be nice if there would be breakfast as well.

Review 96:Nice little hotel, nice room, good WiFi connection. Hotel is directly at the church and just round the corner of the main plaza.

Review 97:Would recommend to anyone in particular if you like walking the land lady is a lovely friendly person whom can speak enough English . The hotel is so clean

Review 98:The hotel didn't provide any food or drink and there didn't seem to be a sitting room. However, this did mean we went out and mingled with local people more which we enjoyed.

Review 99:The staff were friendly and the room was warm (early march) with a good heater and comfortable beds, tv, and en-suite bathroom with shower. The hotel was quiet but central near shops and cafes for good food, with easy access to free parking nearby, walking and cycling, and within driving distance of lots of interesting places (we visited a Roman site (Ronda Viejo), Ronda itself, caves with prehistoric paintings, and Cadiz, as well as doing several walks around the local area, all in a week). Ladies running the hotel were lovely and spoke a little English. We could come and go any time, and the room was cleaned every day.

Review 100:The bed and pillows were too hard for my taste.

Review 101:The room size was good, very clean and the receptionist was very helpful.

Review 102:Would have been nice to have maybe tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 103:Location, friendliness

Review 104:Great value in very nice setting. Quiet. Sure others might want more but for us it was perfect.

Review 105:Good location at heart of village with easy access to shops and cafés as well as ease of parking.

Review 106:Very nice hotel in the centre of the village. Good breakfast available in nearby cafe.

Review 107:Rather small rooms

Review 108:the location

Review 109:It was a bit noisy at night. A room not on the square would be better.

Review 110:Location was great. Lovely little town.

Review 111:Location, value, owner was kind and generous

Review 112:Everything

Review 113:Very friendly establishment.

Review 114:Staff spoke virtually know English, so we had to rely on ourlimited Spanish.
