Reviews for Parador de Tordesillas

Review 1:The food in the restaurant was bad. Chicken nearly inedible and prawns severely over-cooked. Perhaps because there was a wedding reception elsewhere in the building.

Review 2:This was the least favourable of theh half- dozen Paradors we stayed in but the staff did their best to make up for it. The location is not good, which is not their fault, and it rained which is not their fault either so our judgement is a bit skewed on an overnight stay.

Review 3:Mediocre food, commented on the food last time we stayed, nothing has improved. Sad that dinner is so late when having travelled for at least 8 hrs, one would like to eat and have an early night.

Review 4:Quality of accommodation

Review 5:Hotel very tired looking. No aircon in bedroom. Room very hot, advised that Spanish prefer it this way.

Review 6:Handy to the motorway system. Food of a good standard

Review 7:Nil.

Review 8:Friendly helpful staff. Good general Parador standards. Easy to find from the Autovia. Pleasant woodland area quite near to the historic town which is well worth a visit.

Review 9:1 room had had someone who smoked in recently but housekeeping helped us very quickly.

Review 10:Arrived late and the receptionist helped us to our room. Very nice touch

Review 11:Didn't like being conned into paying for stuff we didn't ask for, eg the bread rolls at dinner. Our first two choices for main course we're not available in spite of arriving in good time.

Review 12:Quiet

Review 13:We were there in August and there were a lot of wasps around the poolside.

Review 14:Lovely setting amongst pine forests with nice grounds and attractive outdoor pool. Extensive indoor leisure facilities (jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, etc) and nice bar, sitting room, etc.

Review 15:My booking had been cancelled by the hotel, by mistake. The room was so poorly lit that I couldn't read. The toilet didn't flush. The staff in the dining room were grumpy. This Parador is nowhere near the standard of most other Paradores. A real disappointment.

Review 16:Good breakfast.

Review 17:The pool didn't open till 11am. The dinner was expensive. (We walked up the hill to Avenida and had a dinner for four set menu, including wine, for 44 euros - a quarter of the price.). The breakfast was also expensive, and the staff more concerned to clock in clients than to serve coffee. The coffee machine baffled a number of people.

Review 18:Very well situated, with excellent pool and sauna. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 19:Nothing bad to report.

Review 20:Swimming pools outside and inside. Peaceful garden to sit next to pool. Had a lovely room with pool view. Café was good and we received good service.

Review 21:Nothing although my wife is a vegetarian and the restaurant didn't really have anything on the limited menu to suit her. We were therefore left with no option but to have a bar snack (Spanish omelette and salad) instead.

Review 22:Great location, fabulous building and gardens.

Review 23:The outside swimming pool had a problem with wasps. They were everywhere around the outside of the pool. The depth markings for the pool were not very clear.

Review 24:The ambiance of the hotel. Luxury furnishings , excellent dining room and bar.

Review 25:Staff were overworked and therefore inattentive at times. There were barely enough staff to provide a decent service; those that there were, tried their best. Free WiFi was a bit of a joke. It only worked in the bar area, and the bar area was closed all morning until 11.30. Nobody could seriously do business like this in 2015. Full WiFi throughout the hotel is a basic minimum.

Review 26:Clean and comfortable with mostly good facilities, what w have come to expect of Paradores.

Review 27:The building, especially the wood floors, is showing a little wear. The pool seemed very nice but it was completely surrounded by bees and being allergic, we stayed away. Also beware if you approach the pool dressed. The shower heads you must go under to enter the pool area come on automatically. One last warning, DO NOT EAT ANY OF THEIR LOW QUALITY OVERPRICED MEALS.

Review 28:We had a quiet spacious room with views to lovely trees on back. The bathroom was well equipped and very large. Everything worked, even the air condition.

Review 29:No bad experiences but what they don't tell you is that the location is in the middle of an industrial zone. So arrival is not particularly inviting. If I had not had a reservation, I probably would have kept driving. Inside it was fine. But small things - like no terrace dining/breakfast. Had the feeling they were short of staff. But, as I say, it was little things that meant I wouldn't stay here again.

Review 30:Fairly typical parador, sense of durability.

Review 31:We miss BBC tv channels which this Parador and others seem no longer to use.

Review 32:A friendly Parador easy to reach from the A 62 in a pleasant woodland area with good facilities including pool. We have stayed there several times.

Review 33:On arrival we had an evening meal in hotel restaurant. What a disappointment. Food was over-priced and not very nice. The following evening to drove into Tordesillas and had an excellent meal at Restaurant Avenida. Tremendous value, great atmosphere, fresh cooked food and welcoming staff

Review 34:Very good hotel surrounded by trees. Located outside the lovely town (about 20 mins walk/5 min drive). Very comfortable room with good quality linen/towels. Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 35:Lovely room with a terrace (small extra charge), good food, friendly & helpful staff. Secure parking (small extra charge). Good location for us as we were buying some Rueda wine and this hotel is close to the region.

Review 36:We chose this Parador for its location--halfway (about) from Madrid to Vigo. We were looking for a quiet night's rest after all night travel. We definitely chose wisely! There is a nice pool/gym/table tennis area-so there is something to do for older kids. Fantastic Mojitos!

Review 37:We did not like the long wait in the dining area. We waited for an hour for food once and we were cross as our orders got mixed up.

Review 38:Room comfort, friendly staff, location, like being in a 5 star hotel

Review 39:Location: right beside an industrial estate. Smelly: not the hotel's fault but a function of the locality. Fixed price for a three course dinner; we only wanted two courses. Service perfunctory at best.

Review 40:Lovely and very authentic with lots of character. Surprisingly good dinner.

Review 41:A guest in the ? Bedroom above who made a lot of noise very early in the morning.

Review 42:The hotel comforts, all the useful and quality bathroom extras, excellent wifi and helpful reception staff on arrival.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:Good size bedroom and bathroom. Very quiet room. Very comfortable beds. Excellent restaurant menu with good choice of local cuisine and wine

Review 45:nowhere to go for walk except side of road.

Review 46:Good restaurant with local menu. Coffee served to you at breakfast the only time on our fortnight trip. Lovely spacious rooms

Review 47:Nice welcome and helpful with restaurant times etc. We ate in the bar which was very nice, especially as it was so late when we arrived. The Barman was very helpful too.

Review 48:Despite booking through booking.com, we were offered a superior room at 20€ more without question. Just check before you sign.

Review 49:The location in the middle of a forest is idyllic. The first night we stayed was thick with fog so we didn't appreciate its real beauty. We Stayed one night on our way to stay with family just before Christmas and were so impressed we decided to stay again on the way back too.

Review 50:Nothing!

Review 51:Excellent room. Bar area very comfortable and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Breakfast the following morning was excellent value for money. We will definitely return.

Review 52:Surely staff, though basically efficient. Lovely bedroom spoiled by 3 beds so could only get in and out one side. Ignored request as to near lift in spite of telephone call explaining my broken leg. Evening waitress helpful but meal below normal standard. Worst breakfast service ever had to chase waiter for coffee even! Normally Paradors are very good, this was not, maybe it was the cold?

Review 53:Comfortable bed nice bathroom, easy parking. Took case to room.

Review 54:Evening meal, Poor food, very limited selection. Breakfast bacon like shoe leather, some fruit under ripe, no yogurt variety. No toilet brush.

Review 55:Location Facilities

Review 56:The swimming-pool is smaller than the one showed on the picture. You need a car to arrive to the hotel.

Review 57:The room was very comfortable and the hotel offered many extras: jacuzzi, swimming-pool, park, ping-pong, gym, sauna, nice restaurant

Review 58:Good setting and very easy to find. Good beds and great staff. Not as spectacular as other paradors but still much better than a standard modern hotel

Review 59:Rooms very hot at night. Could not open windows because of too many insects under the pines. Hotel needs fly screens at room windows.

Review 60:Staff Location comfy beds

Review 61:We were sorry to find the outdoor pool closed, while the wheater was still nice by the end of september. The town of Tordesillas is outside walking distance (2 miles).

Review 62:Spacious room, plenty of parking spaces, nicely decorated building. We like it for our stay of 1 night

Review 63:I tried hard to find something we did not like, but failed! Perhaps too many noisy kids in the indoor pool, but that's hardly the hotel's fault.

Review 64:The wonderful parkland setting, the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tub, the great food and quiet, comfortable bedroom, the friendly and helpful staff. This hotel is the real deal. We will definitely stay there again.

Review 65:Other than welcome not enough staff, and those there were harassed and a somewhat hopeless, the food was for the most part rather poor and a bit nauseating.

Review 66:Great stopover spot, clean and comfortable, good welcome check in. Recommend for room only.

Review 67:We were travelling with my young daughter so went into local town to eat. We had to drive as it was too far to walk.

Review 68:The swimming pool was great with free towels, and the staff were very friendly.

Review 69:Whilst the senior gentleman at the reception desk was (as reviews indicated) a bit brusque (and not indicating any English at all) he warmed up when my wife tried some words of Spanish, and checking out the next morning, I found his English was quite good. He obviously thought it said to use sparingly on the tin? In a way, I found this rather endearing, and not to be taken too seriously. Only downside was the restaurant not opening until 8.30pm, but good range of 3-course bar food available on demand.

Review 70:We really liked the style and spaciousness of this hotel. Everything worked well (showers/aircon), the rooms were excellent, it was easy to find and quick to access for those in transit. Couldn't imagine a better overnight stop. The room rate is so low for a place of this calibre that we didn't mind paying a bit more for food and drink. We enjoyed the swimming pools too.

Review 71:cold swimming pool cold jacuzzi whats the point ? food prices far to expensive, quality food served all over the place nearby for less than half the price - stupid !!!! TV dreadfull

Review 72:location, overall comfort and layout, friendly atmosphere

Review 73:It was not possible to walk into Tordesillas, which we had hoped to do - no pavements or lighting. Although the pool was flagged up in the details, it did not seem an option for use. Main problem was the member of staff who greeted us. He was rude and bad mannered and made us feel unwelcome and made the hotel feel like not a very nice place. This is not what you want on a long journey!

Review 74:Outdoor eating in the bistro. We watched red squirrels running around outside, from our room window, which was delightful. Free safe parking immediately outside was very important to us and was a significant factor in booking.

Review 75:- Restaurant quite expensive for the quality we got. - Sauna and Hammam too small for the Hotel size.( SPA image cheap..not like it should be).

Review 76:Nice green in front of the swimingpool. Rooms are correct.

Review 77:The entrance to the parador from the road was confusing at first but safe. The dining room was very attractive; the food and service were very good but we would have liked some vegetables or salad with the main course.

Review 78:The location was easy to find as it was both near the motorway and Tordesillas. It was good value and the facilities were very good. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped with a lovely bathroom.

Review 79:nice staff (though they really have problems to understand an other language than spanish, we found 1 friendly man who spoke French), room was more than perfect (spacious for 2 adults and 2 children), great bathroom,,... we could order snacks in the room, nice swimming pool and garden, parking place in front of the hotel, breakfast was perfect,...

Review 80:staff could have been a little more friendly. breakfast good with exception of poor bacon and overcooked fried eggs!

Review 81:comfort, and dinner in the evening

Review 82:Lack of parasols at the poolside and the infestation of wasps at the water's edge which made use and enjoyment of the pool itself rather difficult.

Review 83:Room was good size and comfortable.

Review 84:Proximity to motorway, yet nice forested setting.

Review 85:The Wifi did not work

Review 86:Spacious room and bathroom.

Review 87:Staff were perfectly civil but not particularly friendly.

Review 88:Lovely room and good food.

Review 89:The catering in restaurant and bar are very poor and have been for several years.

Review 90:The standard of rooms are excellent

Review 91:All good

Review 92:Spa after a long drive on route to the Algarve

Review 93:The location, room, food and staff.

Review 94:Food expensive after experiencing very reasonable meals during the rest of our stay in Spain.

Review 95:Easily found. Lovely grounds. Food of good quality.

Review 96:N/A

Review 97:Friendly staff...the concierge even carried our luggage to the room.

Review 98:Nothing.

Review 99:Very convenient location travelling to southern Spain and vice versa.

Review 100:Swimming pool

Review 101:Service in the restaurant was slow and the large portions and 3 course meal was too much and no option for less.

Review 102:Terrible food. Surly waiters Leaking bath plug, unworkable TV. Controls

Review 103:Clean sheets

Review 104:Everything

Review 105:rooms ,accommodation in general. parking, surrounded by trees. quiet. could get something to eat between 4pm and 8pm

Review 107:Very peaceful.

Review 108:Be careful of the high kerbs in the car park!

Review 109:Gym and pools

Review 110:The room price was very reasonable considering the quality of the installations and facilities available.

Review 111:Tiny indoor swimming pool with so much chlorine it stung my eyes; sauna and Turkish bath not working

Review 112:Authentic old-fashioned furnishings

Review 113:Lady behind bar was excellent. Overall service was good. Last stayed in hotel in 1979. Quite nostalgic

Review 114:Easy to locate. All staff encountered were very helpful. Room was quiet and pleasant. All in all a very relaxing break in a very long journey.

Review 115:comfortable. well situated in pine woods. shady. parking. able to get a snack between 4 and 8 pm

Review 116:Food

Review 117:Rooms

Review 120:On a main road so perhaps a little noisy???

Review 121:Very convenient location

Review 122:Very convenient for an overnight stay. Clean, comfortable abd very quiet and peaceful.

Review 124:Location

Review 125:The room needs updating for the pricewe had to pay.

Review 126:Staff was very helpful. We enjoyed the terrace.

Review 127:Quality of lunch was poor. At breakfast coffee was cold Cona coffee.

Review 128:The building and rooms were lovely

Review 129:Didn't think the meals were value for money and poor quality.
