Reviews for Don Ángel

Review 1:only problem for me was the shower head did not hang properly on the wall.the bathroom very clean no other problems

Review 2:Lovely quiet location.the room and beds very comfortable.the staff very good no problem communicating.

Review 3:Roquetas very big & very quiet Breakfast & dinner buffet very plentiful but dishes cool & did not benefit from being on display a long time

Review 4:Proximity to coast Beautiful view from room Staff very friendly & helpful

Review 5:it is geared towards big groups and tourbuses so lacks atmosphere but otherwise good for a stay internet connection was very slow at times especially in the bedroom

Review 6:Very pleasant friendly and helpful staff. Clean comfortable and spacious room with bath

Review 7:A comfortable six days in October at a hotel right on the beach, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 20s. The 10 minute walk to the beach front or street cafes was just enough to keep us a bit fit. Easy parking and good wifi.

Review 8:Dinner in the restaurant was just horrible. Only the salads were kind of tasty. Breakfast however was ok. Although only very few guest were there, there was loud music which was still very loud at my room in the 5th (!!!) floor with closed doors and windows. The bathroom smelled not very good.

Review 9:Hotel is located directly at the beach. Due to the time the hotel was nearly empty.

Review 10:A lot of teenagers on the first week-end messing in the hotel lobby and in the lifts.

Review 11:The staff were very friendly. The attention to detail by the bar staff was excellent.

Review 12:Evening meal in restaurant was buffet style, food was very good but was spoiled as it could have been kept a bit warmer which was a pity because it was so well presented. Breakfast was fine and a wee bit warmer.

Review 13:Located 50metres from beach, easy parking outside front door, nice pool area, staff very nice.

Review 14:Obviously at this time of year the hotel was quiet which suited us and over all there was nothing I disliked. We had asked for a sea view and this was provided and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We stayed b& b and the breakfasts were excellent. The bedrooms were very spacious and the beds very comfortable. We had a room with twin queen beds.

Review 15:Shame we couldn't stay longer! The bathroom door opens the wrong way, opening into the bathroom compromised the space.

Review 16:The sea view room was perfect. Food and service from the staff was excellent, couldn't do enough for you. Wonderful location for shops and beach. Spacious hotel and rooms. Will definitely stay there and recommend to our family and friends. Thank you. x

Review 17:Being overcharged by a member of staff for drinks, 50 cents on every beer bought by the pool. Complained and filled out a complaints form which I didn't submit (wish I had now), was given 2 G&T's on my request but was surprised that nothing else was done or said. No restaurants/bars in close proximity.

Review 18:closeness to the beach

Review 19:Would have liked warm bacon.

Review 20:Very good value, drink prices reasonable no need to leave hotel after dinner. Really lovely fruit and salads to accompany meals.

Review 21:Bad smell in room Smelt like drains from bath room we stayed in room 501 Our friends were in 503 and that was fine

Review 22:Location amenities Pool Price Staff

Review 23:Booking in was quite a slow process.

Review 24:Large room with sea view was perfect and so was breakfast in the room. In the evening we walked towards the marina on a modern walkway beside the beach and had a delicious seafood paella at Meson Casa.

Review 25:Poor location far from any shops & eateries. Directions on Map & Satnav very poor. We left a day early (only live 1.2 hours away).

Review 26:Bed, poolside & bar service.

Review 27:No bad experience-but::- We stayed 3 nights. The gents toilet off the lounge/reception area had 2 blocked and foul smelling (out of order) urinals during our stay. Similarly, there is no forced extraction/ ventilation to the en-suite bathroom/toilet. It opens directly into the bedroom. Not good planning.

Review 28:A happy and obliging, hard working staff. The variety of different dishes available fo meals. Very comfortable beds.

Review 29:Evening meal salads very good but hot food not very appetising so ate outside Hotel for the other 2 nights of our stay.

Review 30:Comfortable room Hotel situation ideal for quiet walks along Playa Breakfast plenty and variable-something for every taste

Review 31:My husband is not a good walker so we found the hotel a bit far out of the town and a good walk to the port. apart from that it was a lovely hotel

Review 32:We could please ourselves if we want to stay and eat in the hotel or go else were. It was a good idea

Review 33:It was hard to get bus or train schedule information at times.

Review 34:Excellent location. Awesome musical live performance. Great beach and pool. High quality of the food most of the time. Nice staff.

Review 35:Air conditioning in Our room was not working, it was very hot and muggy, not pleasant. We were offered another room but of slight less standard where the air conditioning was working better but not brilliant. We were dissapointed With the fact that we were not offered some form of compensation for the hassle of having to change rooms. Not expecting this from a 4 * hotel.

Review 36:Great location of the hotel on the beach With surrounding free car parking.

Review 37:Poor quality of food. No air conditioning in public areas, with a humid temperature of nearly 40 degrees. Area immediately outside hotel dirty, bins overflowing, or nit used at all. Not the fault of the hotel but that doesn't change it.

Review 38:Room size and bathroom both good. Beds comfortable. Secure underground parking

Review 39:Internet connection is poor.

Review 40:Location right on beach and within walking distance of bull ring. Staff extremely friendly. Breakfast and buffet evening meal excellent

Review 41:pool in poor repair, not enough sunbeds & some broken, hotel has maintenance issues, WIFI very poor connection, food at dinner poor quality & cooking ( meat tough/or undercooked) only 1 restaurant in walking distance to hotel, dying plants in reception.

Review 42:cleanliness, staff , value for money, proximity to beach

Review 43:Unable to connect to the hotel wifi and the few English channels on the TV were very poor. It was okay if you liked the news and history programmes.

Review 44:Other than the wifi, the hotel was excellent value and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I would recommend this hotel to anyone they cater for all groups.

Review 45:Parking expensive and free parking not easily found.

Review 46:Close to beach and waterfront walk to the old port area. Good view. Huge room. Airconditioning struggled in the heat wave.

Review 49:Hated being on the 5 th floor, had asked for low room. Unfriendly staff, too expensive drinks, no other places to walk to for meals, too far out of center

Review 50:Comfortable large room with great bed and lots of pillows Also the pool area

Review 51:Need more sun beds

Review 52:In a quiet non tourist area. A classic older style Spanish hotel, very comfy beds. Right on the beach, walkable to the port for great fish restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff, amazing value.

Review 53:Housekeeping entered our room without knocking and while we were still in bed, at 9:30 am, swimming pool should be available from 9am, but it was impossible to go swim before breakfast, we came at 9am and technician said he needs still some 15 min more. All these things are not the 4 star hotel advantages, I would rate it only 3 stars

Review 54:Great location, nice swimming pool, good personnel on reception

Review 55:only had breakfast at the hotel, hot food was served cold and not very appetising, not very good value for money. We thought hotel was let down by its food and lack of adjacent amenities.

Review 56:quiet location, clean room, comfortable bed

Review 57:The wifi was poor. The breakfast was not as good as most spanish hotels we have stayed at and also luke warm.

Review 58:Great location, easy to find and free parking around hotel very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very good with two large beds and the bathroom was spacious.

Review 59:The air conditioning wasn't very good, I found the room hot at all times.

Review 60:The hotel itself was very nice, lovely bathroom and the beds were very comfortable

Review 61:There was nothing to dislike. Bed was very comfortable. Meals had lots of choices. Reception very impressive and room clean, tidy and everything we needed.

Review 62:In very warm conditions air con did not cool the room enough to be able to sleep confortably. Room noisy until late as it overlooked pool and terrace

Review 63:Only had a one night stay, but was happy with room, especially as we were lucky to get an upgrade to a sea facing room. Comfy beds and pillows, great powerful shower.

Review 64:The housekeeping entered the hotel room at 9.30 am, while we were still sleeping, even without knocking the door...

Review 65:Reception staff was very helpfull, even helped in planninb nb

Review 66:Although wasn't bad breakfast, the cooked food eg bacon, fried eggs were luke warm.

Review 67:Lovely hotel in a quieter area of Roquetas, with miles of beach just in front. Pool area was well kept with plenty of loungers & nice size pool. Staff were really nice & helpful, while by pool on second day they bought round fresh fruit on sticks & when ordered drink, we got a little snack as well! Rooms although dated were clean & comfy. Had pizza for lunch which was freshly make & yummy!

Review 68:Loved it all

Review 69:Stayed for 13 nights. Lovely Spanish atmosphere. Location was right on the beach but with a nice pool area with sunbeds and bar service. Great staff, thanks Santi and Anna in the Bar. Great beds, balcony overlooking pool and beach and a great price.

Review 70:The wifi only worked in the room and it might have been difficult to find somewhere to eat nearby but the hotel food was nice enough

Review 71:The rooms with a view are worth paying for, the pool was lovely and not too busy and it's right on the beach. Free wifi and really helpful staff. 2 huge comfy beds, decent balcony with awesome view, midday check out was also a bonus!

Review 72:The location was beautiful, near to local shops and cafés and right on the beach. I had a wonderful view of the sea from my balcony. The room was clean and spacious and the beds were so comfortable. The bathroom was wonderful and the room had a TV and free wifi. The pool was a great size and very clean. All staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Review 73:Evening meal was extremely disappointing, would recommend you go elsewhere. There are small restaurants within walking distance.

Review 74:Location, staff and facilities were all great.

Review 75:Not that I did not like anything, but this is an hotel that is not the right choice for families with small kids/young teenagers.

Review 76:Excellent location, friendly staff, right on the beach with nice facilities, good buffets.

Review 77:We thought the evening buffet was good but not excellent. I know that value for money is subjective but we have stayed at a good few Spanish hotels that in our opinion served better quality food. The choice was very good but the quality let it down. As an example, I had a sirloin steak but it was inedible, I couldn't even cut it with a knife or drag it apart it was so tough.

Review 78:Everything apart from the evening buffet which I would only rate good. I accept that you get what you pay for and indeed we did not pay a lot.

Review 79:The place - totally dead in January. But this is to be expected. Thousands of new apartments have been built but most are unfinished. Gives the feeling of a 'ghost town'. I do hope the economy picks up...,

Review 80:nice hotel on the beach at a good price

Review 81:Would have loved tea/coffee facilities in the room. Wi-Fi good but had to ask for code, perhaps it could be incorporated into the info pack in the room.

Review 82:The Christmas Eve dinner was really good, food, service, and company. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Very good location a short stroll to the port at Roquetas or the local shopping centre, or a longer walk to Aguadulce.

Review 83:Although there were only a few guests in the hotel the staff especially in the restaurant were excellent, nothing was too much trouble . The gala dinner on Christmas Eve was fabulous and was included in the price of our stay.

Review 84:The cost of Refreshments in the Hotel Bar, ( no wonder it was empty) it was a rip off. Someone should tell the Management that a half a loaf is better than no Bread at all.

Review 85:The two double Beds. English News on the TV. Two free Bottles of Water. Quick delivery of hot water at the Taps. must be a pumped system. Quick service of repairs, new Bulb fitter on the Balcony , when requested. Plenty of free Car parking.

Review 86:Would be nice to have tea making facilities as the snack bar was closed

Review 87:Fantastic sea views. Lovely large comfortable bed with numerous pillows. Usually in hotels we have to ask for extra pillows! Parking was easy. All in all would recommend.

Review 88:nothing

Review 89:safe room for bike storage, breakfast to die for 7 euro's fantastic room with sea views, cheap as chips, walk across bridge 5 mins, first restaurant on right, looks like a bar but has full restaurant next door, wonderful food and the chef came out to help understand his menu

Review 90:We had three rooms in total, one room the aircon system did not work. Only a minor problem.

Review 91:The staff were friendly, rooms great. Would stay again no problem.

Review 92:gravel beach not sandy, but the hotel has a great pool, even so I prefered to swim into the sea, you can find showers on the beach and everything you need

Review 93:Comfortable and clean rooms, large beds, nice bathrooms, excellent breakfast, free parking places, close to the sea, easy access, very good location if you plan to visit Almeria and the region !

Review 94:...that we had to leave after a week, because of no more holidays left.

Review 95:Perfect place to stay. Nice hotel, large and good beds, nice food, close to a nice beach, nice way to walk to nice restaurants, silent, swimmingpool, serving close to swimmingpool, nice view, nice, nice!

Review 96:A group of noise people on the hall when I got in, which scared me a bit. I would have expected staff at the hotel to order them to quiet down. Other than that everything was perfect

Review 97:Service was very good

Review 98:The toilet was awkwardly placed in the corner, so that anyone taller than me (I am under 5 feet) would have great difficulty sitting down, there was hardly any leg room. The hotel appeared to be a quality establishment but .... the hot breakfast was not hot, and the bread buns hard. The hot food at dinner was also cold and the chips were soggy as well. There were few guests, and accordingly few staff. The plants in the atrium looked in need of attention.. Disappointed at the lack of holiday atmosphere generally.

Review 99:The hotel had a good position on the,sea front. The staff wre polite and helpful. The prices in the bar and restaurant were very reasonable.

Review 100:No wifi except in a very small number of areas. Dated decor. Dirty sunbeds on balcony.

Review 101:Lovely balcony overlooking the sea. Large beds and long pillows. Great breakfast buffet. Very accommodating staff. Quiet area.

Review 102:Whilst the Hotel is directly in front of beach there is nothing else around the hotel as it's mainly residential. No beach bars or street cafes for light snacks and no restaurants for evenings. The Hotel is quite dated and can't see quite how its got 4 star rating.

Review 103:The reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms and hotel in general were spotless. The bar and restaurant staff were also very pleasant and helpful. Overall we got a very cheap 1 night stay as we booked just the day before, but would have felt "done" if we'd paid the Hotel's rack rate (min of 100 euros p/n for b & b)

Review 104:The bedroom decor was dated & could do with a makeover. It would have been nice to have tea & coffee making facilities in the bedroom. Some of the seating furniture in reception area were in need of a clean

Review 105:The pool area was excellent. The bar was well maintained & the reception area was comfortable, bright & airy.

Review 106:Most things about the hotel. We didn't eat at the hotel, we ate at a local tapas bar (just over the bridge) and it was the best meal we had in two and a half weeks of travelling all over Spain and Portugal.

Review 107:No tea-coffee making facilities in room but I wouldn't consider this a big problem. Typical Irish tea drinkers always looking for that last cuppa before bed.

Review 108:Staff were so good to help even though there was a language barrier as we only spoke English but anything we asked for or needed was catered for. A hotel I would recommend especially for a relaxing holiday. Price was very reasonable also. Rooms were so big and spacious. A must see :)

Review 109:It is not a 4-star hotel. Rooms are ok, but lack amenities and other things that make a 4-star hotel deserve the stars. And it is a bit old. For guests not booking their meals at the hotel, the area lacks restaurants.

Review 110:Huge nice bed. Staff is really nice and helpful.

Review 111:Pool a little milky and needs cleaning up more, poss lots of sun lotion and a little green & black algae in skimmers & on side walls. Pool area needs to be less grass & more interesting. I know it was my 60th, but even i found the entertainment very dated ! needed to go out every night.

Review 112:Beds very large and comfortable. Breakfast very good on all points. Pool a must for a cool down. Not a big fan of sea! as i have to wash the salt off or it can make me start to peel, so i do like to spend more time around the pool.

Review 113:Did not like the location, no shops at walking distance and the food in Puerto roquetas was horrible

Review 114:The rooms, A/c unit and perfect rest! Beds very comfortable. Aguadulce was nice food etc... The place to go. For every drink you get a free tapa, cheap food and lovely beaches in aguadulce

Review 115:The WIFI connection was weak, but it was serviceable.

Review 116:The room and location were perfect for nice getaway. The proximity to the beach was excellent. The staff was friendly and quite helpful.

Review 117:Plates in restaurant where we had breakfast and dinner could be washed better.

Review 118:Excellent brakfast and dinner, we had. Near beach. But the sea was very cold ( middle of august ).

Review 119:Location was out on a bit of a limb, street pavements were absolutely appallingly dirty, dog mess and chewing gum residue everywhere, (doesn't the local town's mayor look at the streets?) Loud fire crackers continuously day and into the night (2AM), these were around the port area some 1/2 mile away. Restaurant staff unable to speak any english, this would be OK if food was labelled in english, not just spanish.

Review 120:Pool, hotel staff friendly. Road out of town when we left. Grand Plaza was the only lifeboat in a very large sea of dirt, yuk. Meal selection was good and varied in hotel.

Review 121:There is nothing I didn't like.

Review 122:Everything, but especially : - the cleanliness - the views to the sea - the quality, quantity and diversity of the breakfast (I did not have lunch or dinner, but I guess that would be as good) - the swimming pool - the quietness of the area - the ease of parking

Review 123:The shower was a little strange, as it kept changing temperature even though we didn't touch the knob. The airconditioning worked, but it didn't seem to be as strong as one expected for a room that size. We did inform the staff and they thanked us for our input.

Review 124:The staff were helpful and friendly. The location was beautiful, right on the Med. The rooms seemed quiet even though they were obviously busy. The sea view was as promised and lovely.

Review 125:I liked the feel of the hotel as soon as we pulled up outside. The reception was nice and spacious and my two boys loved the glass fronted lift. The room was lovely even though all we did was crash at the end of the night.

Review 126:There wasn't much information about bus timetables etc, it would have been nice to take a bus to Seville.

Review 127:The queen size beds x 2, so comfortable slept better than I do at home...maybe because it was so relaxing. Liked the fact that it was mainly Spanish holiday makers, there were no massive all inclusive hotels at this end of the resort - these hotels destroy trade for local restaurants which are fairly reasonably priced.

Review 128:I wished there was a tour representative to help with tours although there was a table for one. Otherwise no other complaint

Review 129:I loved the bed, we didn't want to leave the bed. Room was cleaned each day, Breakfast, Lunch and dinner served for a price so you can decide to stay in or go out. Location is perfect right by the sea so great views from the hotel. Staff were courteous and welcoming and helpful. Supermarket and shops close by.

Review 130:Breakfast did not taste fresh. Eggs where cold, no fresh orange juice ,bread smelled weird and had a chemical taste.

Review 131:Excellent Location Price is really cheap Nice rooms pool is pretty butcould be small when fully booked calm

Review 132:the rooms are tired and in need of renovation. The shower was in need of a rubber seal round the door as it flooded when showering. The minibar fridge did not work and the electricity card holder was broken so the supply was intermittent. The hotel definitely needs an upgrade

Review 133:the location was good and swimming pool area was very good staff friendly and helpful. Public areas on the whole very good

Review 134:The first time thatwe stayed we were not so impressed with the restaurant so this time we did not eat in the restaurant. There is however a bar /cafe next to the public lounge which seves drinks ,coffees etc including sandwiches which are very reasonably priced

Review 135:Have stayed there before so thisis why we rebooked.Bed is very large, hoteis medium sized, quite and friendly. The beach is 40 metres away, there isa long promenadefor walking or cycling. We will definitely stay there again if we revisit this area

Review 136:Nothing near it for an alternative meal except cafe not serving full meals. Sat nav not at all accurate as address ambiguous .

Review 137:Nice hotel. Beds really comfortable . Very large nice room. Situated right on the beach.

Review 138:The 'show' restaurant that's mentioned on their website as a main feature appears to have now closed The pool area was very small

Review 139:The receptionist was very helpful & friendly The rooms were spotless

Review 140:was difficult initially to find the Hotel name was not on the main street side. The Hotel was very clean but is now very dated..

Review 141:Bed was really comfortable, hotel clean, parking right outside hotel. It was value for money.

Review 142:Hotel is somewhat bland, some renovation needed.

Review 143:Right on the beach.good size balcony, big enough for table and chairs and sunbeds.
