Reviews for Hospederia Casa de las Piedras

Review 1:Nothing.

Review 2:Helpful staff advising of best walks in the area and providing description of route and map. Cosy lounge with log fire. No breakfast available at hotel, but excellent cafe 50 metres away, with home made bread and packed lunch available.

Review 3:Terrible attitude of reception staff who informed us in the evening and long after our arrival that the restaurant was closed for the evening and that, furthermore, it would also remain closed for breakfast. There was no attempt to offer us alternative dining arrangements and only the suggestion that an adjacent cafeteria might be suitable for breakfast.

Review 4:Convenient for walking nearby

Review 5:Not a bad experience but the shower space in our particular room was very confined - it was ok for us but bigger people might have had a problem.

Review 6:This is the 4th time we have stayed there - the previous times in 2004 & 2005. The facilities have been brought up to date without changing the hotel's special character. The location is central, close to shops, bars & cafes and it is easy to walk from there to the start of a number of excellent walking tracks. Staff are helpful and pleasant - there is always someone on duty. The sitting room is warm (an open fire in Winter) and has a pleasant ambience. Some rooms have a great view.

Review 7:Honestly, I don't think I can complain about anything. It far exceeded my expectations and Grazalema is absolutely beautiful.

Review 8:This place was wonderful, we got lucky with a great apartment in a perfect location. Staff was amazing and very accommodating. I would definitely come back to stay at this very same apartment.

Review 9:ideal place to hike, helpful tourist information, experienced the "recreation historica" - bandit festival at the 1st weekend of October (takes place every year). highly recommended great restaurant

Review 10:- music during night from saturday to sunday - shared toalet on the second side of wall - everyrhing hear all the night

Review 11:- place - turistic guide books in recepcion - nice patio, no sounds from cars from street - nice music during night from saturday to sunday - shop near

Review 12:Easy to find , off the main square. Cute courtyard. Beds were more comfortable than they looked. Had dinner in the restaurant one night. Delicious and reasonable. Would stay again.

Review 13:Excellent location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Our stay couldn't have been any better. It was just fantastic. Even the wi-fi was good, despite what previously travelers had suggested.

Review 14:Lovely hotel, really nice and warm. We had a room with a bathroom, shower was great and room really nice. Nice fell to the place and liked the fire downstairs. Had a glass of wine from the bar which was good and very cheap.

Review 15:Nothing to dislike

Review 16:Lovely view from our room, charming, helpful hosts, close to restaurants and bars, beautiful mountain walks. Our host was very helpful in finding us a suitable place to park our car.

Review 17:Outdated hiking notes & information at apartment. Apartment not at hspederia. NO WIFI AT THE APARTMENT, available only at main hotel, 500 metres down steep hill.

Review 18:Roomy apartment with well equipped kitchen. Bright bathroom. Nearby excellent hiking.

Review 19:We were not told in advance that the apartment we received would not be in the hotel building and since we didn't have internet we had to go a few times a day to the hotel to be able to connect. That was extremely inconvenient. The windows had no shades and since the flat was on the ground level, whoever passed by could look into the apartment. No air conditioning which was badly needed in the hot days we had. Some basic things in the kitchen could help and are usually provided in vacation rentals: a kettle, a toaster, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, oil. Some stronger lights in the flat, in addition to the romantic ones, could help. We had to ask the owner for a reading lamp (which she eagerly did provide). The village is quite isolated, if anyone cares for entertainment, there is practically none. One should be aware that the roads to the village are very narrow and twisting.

Review 20:The apartment is very tastily furnished, in a very pleasant village and in a beautiful area. The terrace, though not private, is very beautiful with a gorgeous view to the mountains. The owners are very willing to help, both regarding things we needed in the apartment and and directions and explanations about the area

Review 21:Difficult to finding parking spaces in street. Next bedroom to ours used an outside WC which meant the occupiers had to pass our window at night which created a noise. Design of building lead to noise reverberating around courtyard. Dinner menu expensive so didn't try it out.

Review 22:Location and courtyard layout.

Review 23:Parking was not easy. Wi-fi connection was tricky - OK in reception but not available in room. (In the context of a stay in this beautiful place I feel guilty being this picky!)

Review 24:Caty made us very welcome. Room was simple but fine. Food in restaurant was very good

Review 25:The bed was quite oldabd uncomfortable. The room had a pervasive musty odor which was off putting, plus the bathroom shower pan leaked water all over the floor when we took a shower. Towels had holes in them and were super scratchy. Our overall impression was that this place was lacking in upkeep and maintenance, but at one time must have been pretty nice

Review 26:The location was quite close to the town's main square. The second floor also had a very pretty patio area.

Review 27:Everything except the room costs extra: Hot water for tea cost 1€ more, Use of computer cost 1€ for half an hour, breakfast cost 5.7€ and more...

Review 28:Clean and well kept place, the room is very comfortable and the staff were nice, wellcoming and explained everything we needed.

Review 29:As others have mentioned the apartments are actually several blocks from the hotel itself. The only time this proves inconvenient is when you want to use the internet which is only available in the hotel lobby. Not really a problem but worth noting

Review 30:We stayed in one of the apartments and enjoyed having the extra space and a washing machine! The one bedroom is on ground floor but we peeked upstairs at the larger apartments and saw that they were also spacious and had lots of wonderful light. We wanted to hike in the park and staff was very helpful. The town is charming and the cool quiet evenings were a real treat.

Review 31:Quiet street and friendly staff. Comfortable, clean room and nice shower. Value for money

Review 32:It felt like real Spanish inn. The room was small but nicely furnished, and there was a lounge with a lovely log fire.

Review 33:Old building in centre of town

Review 34:Simple, good value and very clean, only 4 min uphill past the hotel.

Review 35:Very helpful staff. Lovely patio for daylight and comfortable lounge with log fire in evening . Good chef cooked local specialities.

Review 36:I likes the sitting room with the fireplace and the selv-service bar.

Review 37:wifi only in public areas

Review 38:lovely room in a great hotel in a gorgeous little town

Review 39:Bed was squeaky so all good if didn't move

Review 40:A lounge for guests to use, very relaxing after long day out. Small village not touristy

Review 41:Friendly, clean, well-located, superb restaurant

Review 42:Log fire, comfy chairs, great art on the wall. A really great place to stay

Review 43:Clean air, wonderful location with a view to the mountains, old house with an atmosphere

Review 44:Perfect l ocation, Friendly staff, Authenticity,

Review 45:Bathroom could be updated

Review 46:Very simple, minimal faff, great night sleep, great hostess

Review 47:The front desk was staffed by teenagers who seemed at a loss to answer questions

Review 48:Loved the terraces

Review 49:Room a bit dark.

Review 50:Location great, staff helpful and friendly, clean and cozy.

Review 51:This is very minor - the window in our room overlooked the hotel restaurant courtyard patio and even though there was no one out there (no one ever that I saw), they still played music all evening - thankfully it stopped at 11pm. Just would have been more enjoyable without it - and I would have understood if they had restaurant customers.

Review 52:Friendly, clean hotel in a very pretty white village. Good breakfast too! We stayed there on a multi-day cycling trip, and they were very bike friendly!

Review 53:The apartment was very basic. Beds were hard. The kitchen was not very well equipped for any length of stay. We had to ask for extra pillows and tp.

Review 54:Grazalema is a beautiful town in a fantastic setting in the mountains. The apartment we had was large and had basic amenities. The staff at the hotel were helpful.

Review 55:nothing to dislike!

Review 56:Cosy room and lounge area. Traditional furnishings. Did not use restaurant so can not comment, great location near centre of village.

Review 57:The apartment could have been better stocked with the necessaries: kindling for the fire; a small amount of washing detergent; soap in the bathroom. More bowls, plates, glasses, spoons, etc; extra pillows and blankets.

Review 58:Everything but the below...

Review 59:Not a fan of those 'rubber sheets' - I don't like to stay in a hotel & feel like I'm in a hospital! Shower cubicle v small so shower before dinner - not the other way round!

Review 60:lovely little patio outside our room overlooking the inner courtyard, lots of plants & flowers. Place is full of character & loved the little yellow sponges!

Review 61:Our room, no 14, was quiet, but many of the bedrooms are off the main staircase - they could be a bit noisy?

Review 62:Old-fashioned comfort. Quirky, very characterful place - the opposite of a bland, modern hotel. This was our second visit.

Review 63:We cut our visit short because it was so noisy. Partying till 1a.m right under our window. Room decor was pretty dismal.

Review 64:Staff was friendly, hotel would be a good value for budget travelers.

Review 65:Not much.

Review 66:Clean, pretty budget hotel with atmosphere. We used it as a hub to visit the surrounding area. Better than crowded, touristy Ronda. Good restaurants. I highly recommend the hotel and the village.

Review 67:The room was very simple: white walls, bed, small bed tables. That's it. Kind of dark (which makes sense to keep the heat out). I liked it, but I guess it's not for everybody. It's a bit monk-like.

Review 68:Excellent restaurant, nice staff, clean and spacious room and bathroom, central location

Review 69:would be great to have a wifi-connection in the room

Review 70:peaceful and quiet, excellent location for both the village centre and for walking in the mountains, lovely patio just outside the room for relaxing or reading

Review 71:Parking was easy(June) - stayed in a family apartment - had kitchen and washing machine (perfect!) - the apartments are a fair bit further up the hill from city center but walk able for the family without too much trouble Nice town - nice place

Review 72:The apartment was somewhat cold and humid. Eventhough a small village, the streets can be surprisingly noisy - people have to drive quite fast to get uphill...

Review 73:What a village! A very pictoresque place. We stayed in one of the hotel's apartments and everything was really nice. The apartments are not in the same adress as the hotel, not far at all but uphill, so beware... Driving in the village streets was quite an experience, but we got the car nicely parked right at the apartment door. Friendly staff and good restaurant.

Review 74:Sound travels easily if there are people occupying apartment above. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Review 75:Excellent value apartment, spacious with small kitchen, sofas, central heating, log fire if you want it. Up the (steep) road in separate building from the hotel. Ideal location for walking, beautiful village.

Review 76:Breakfast a bit cramped and limited More soap in the bathroom would be good

Review 77:Charming hotel conveniently located with very friendly staff Really enjoyed our stay

Review 78:We had a comfortable room in a beautiful old building. The staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was good. We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed it.

Review 79:I would have liked to have wifi in our apartment.

Review 80:The restaurant was fantastic. The town of Grazalema was friendly and we enjoyed the entire experience.

Review 81:The pillows. 3 required.

Review 82:It's usefully located at the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park and a cosy hideaway with no pretensions. Also has a very decent restaurant for an establishment of its ranking.

Review 83:An amazing little flat, clean and cosy. Very friendly owners. Will definitely come back!

Review 84:Wi-Fi doesn't work in the rooms

Review 85:Restaurant downstairs serves imaginative if somewhat overpriced vegetarian menu.

Review 86:Nice location. Simple but nice rooms. We didn't make it to the restaurant but heard great things from others.

Review 87:The noise of the motor bikes outside

Review 88:The location is very good a little noisy during the day but quiet at night. Staff very helpful.

Review 89:Friendly Staff, Location, Price, Restaurant.

Review 90:location friendliness

Review 91:Great location, lovely view from our room, good info on walking in the area.

Review 92:Wifi in the rooms would have been nice.

Review 93:We stayed in early March. The log fire in the lounge was a welcome bonus.

Review 94:Gran relación calidad/ precio

Review 95:Excellent Grazalema location, near town square. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good base for getting to Ronda, Sahara.

Review 96:Needed more blankets.

Review 97:Great size apartment, the heating was not amazing, there was a fire place however we did not wish to use it with a young child.

Review 98:Plastic undercovers on the beds! Very sweaty and uncomfortable.

Review 99:Lovely living room with open fire. Varied breakfast. Very helpful staff.

Review 100:nice village ,good to have own apartment although it was further up hill than rest of rooms

Review 101:It felt very typical for the country side. Very nice hiking areas with fantastic views. Very friendly locals. Nice weather.
