Reviews for Hotel Guadalmina Spa & Golf Resort
Review 1:The hotel was a way out of town so had to get cabs everywhere or it was a very long walk. Would be better if the hotel ran a courtesy bus service into San Pedro.
Review 2:The hotel was beautiful with great facilities. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice.
Review 3:No soap in pool/restaurant ladies bathroom, service could be more friendly.
Review 4:Our second time here. Lovely location. Beautiful pool area. Service with a smile is needed.!! Room servicing excellent. You need a car. But it's a beautiful place and we had a huge room. Guadalmina centre is great, little restaurants, hair dressers, blow dry €8, dry cleaners, bank, huge supermarket with everything you would need. Check it out. Would recommend.
Review 5:Recommend to add lactose free yaghout for breakfast, welcome for gay couples (don't propose to change the bed type, just ask if the double bed was ordered)
Review 6:Pool and views
Review 7:Location on the beach, ambience, excellent food and service. The possibility of having your breakfast, lunch and evening meal outside overlooking the sea and lightened pool area.
Review 8:We were disappointed at the cost of the drinks and snacks at the pool bar and mini bar - a beer was €5.50 as was a coke! You also have to pay if you want to use the sun loungers on the beach - it's not clear why. It's also disappointing that you have to pay a daily fee for using the hotel car park - feels like a bit of a con as you definitely need a car when you are staying there.
Review 9:It is a lovely resort with a great pool area and direct access to the beach. It's peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable - and very clean.
Review 10:Some small but simple things which makes one hotel better to the other. No in room coffee facilities, the restaurant menu was quite expensive , the breakfast was quite shocking. While included the variety was poor, and repeatedly cold. One evening I asked for two wine glasses and a knife to be brought to the room. I rang three times and saw a hotel person in th corridor who knew that i was waiting. After an hour I gave up... Very poor service.
Review 11:Location was good and accessible but only because I had a car.
Review 12:excellent all around. Perfect location in a quiet neighbourhood. Great swimming-pool and on the sea front. Loved it so much that I even extended my stay for some extra 5 days!
Review 13:Virtually non existent Wifi. Had to change rooms on arrival to come closer to front desk location for intermittent wifi.
Review 14:Beachfront location. Nice breakfast.
Review 15:Lovely hotel, room was spacious and well designed. We had a sea view room which was lovely. Nice pool area with plenty of sun beds on either on the poolside or on the beach. Good selection of food. A car is recommended to get around.
Review 16:Had paid for an early check in and was not on the system, and they thought we was checking out on the sunday so our keys stopped working and had to make many trips to reception.
Review 17:liked the quiet relaxing feel of the place.
Review 18:Very poor service and most unfriendly. Breakfast content was ok but the personal ineffizient and incompetent The hotel is very old and needs a face lifting
Review 19:Location is ok but you must have a car
Review 20:Terrible
Review 21:Dark room with no acceptable wi fi Ruined our holiday. No response to 4 requests for assistance. At breakfast foods ran out all the time. No hot water in container, no eggs,no bacon,no milk. Every day foods were never all in supply. €7 charged to my account from Sauna without explanation. €107 is excessive for airport transport. Taxi fare is €80. Dreadful stay at Guadalmina.
Review 22:Reception staff were unfriendly nor helpful. Breakfast like stambeed and unnecessary charges for using sun beds on the hotel beach!,,
Review 23:Location and facilities
Review 24:WiFi was very bad and weak and unreliable. I needed that to connect for work everyday so I had to stay in the lobby to get a decent connection. Room decoration is old. You need a car to get around.
Review 25:beautiful location in front of the beach. Gardens and green.
Review 26:Service is no good. The Spanish in general have difficulty with the English language. Weak wi-fi connection.
Review 27:Large room and large bathroom. Very comfortable except for the ultra soft pillow (no support). Very little changed since more than twenty years ago which is a plus for us. Beautiful hotel. Good beach front location. Excellent breakfast.
Review 28:A slightly soft and squeaky bed.
Review 29:The size of the room, the location on the beach, quiet yet 10 mins away from town. The pool and pool bar were fabulous.
Review 30:No lift in other parts of buildings . Only where main reception .. Not standard of cleanliness in rooms . I mad six rooms in total scattered over different parts of hotel .. Breakfast ok but not very good .
Review 31:Pool and sunbeds , position of sea view rooms in main building with lift ..
Review 32:WE RESERVED A BEACHFRONT ROOM BUT WE NEEDED TO GO OUT TO THE CORNER OF THE BALCONY TO SEE THE WATER.
Review 33:NICE BEACH FREE PARKING AVAILABLE JUST OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL
Review 34:We didn't have a bad experience.
Review 35:Our family was looking for a peaceful break with sun, great food and a comfortable hotel. We loved the Guadualmina for these reasons.
Review 36:The restaurant did not live up to our expectations at all. The hotel does not have any wow factor or strong service mindness. Quite bored straff unfortunately. Typical big resort.
Review 37:The A/C takes forever to cool the room, and the bigger (more expensive) the room is, the longer it takes. It seems that they have set the air conditioning to a preset temperature around 25/26 and no matter what you do with the dial or remote control it will not help, because it is controlled by the management. If that is the case, then that is cheating the customers. Because they advertise the hotel rooms as having air conditioning, however, when you get in the room, it takes 24 hours easily to bring it down to a reasonable temperature (we are not talking cold here). They need to seriously improve on that. Also the rooms are old, run down and the furniture is basically surpassed its assumed service life. They need to do proper interior renovation if they expect people to pay the rates they are asking for to get value for money.
Review 38:Location is great.
Review 39:That you had to pay for the car park even if you were staying at the hotel.
Review 40:The hotel was staff never bothered you, but were always to hand if you needed them. The hotel was in a lovely setting, clean and quite. In fact it really was exceptional.
Review 41:Sometime free Wi Fi is not good in the bedroom
Review 42:Just come back from Spsin the hotel is amazing , Clean swimming pool with direct and private beach access , spacious bedroom with amazing sea view , helpful and friendly staff , great location , food is amazing with great varieties , the bar beach is excellent . I do recommend it very much
Review 43:The breakfast needed a cooking station for eggs etc. The ready cooked eggs provided were not good although the bakery/ fruits were great.
Review 44:The sun beds & pool area was great - loads to go round & non of the early morning dash to get a bed! The beds were lovely, the same that you would get at a beach club
Review 45:There just wasn't enough available staff, breakfast can be chaotic, there is no one to do pool or beach service to your bed and there is constant queues at the pool bar for drinks. Charging 6 euro for a beach sun lounger :(
Review 46:The beach bar is fantastic, delicious food and attentive staff. The grounds were stunning. Location was super, only 9 euros to the port in a taxi.
Review 47:I believe the staff require some serious training. It felt a little disorganised at times. Especially when a wedding party arrived over the weekend. We really struggled with the language barrier. The restaurant staff really struggled with English. They only offer B&B. Plates, Cutlery and food were not kept replenished so you had to request bowls and ended up waiting for food to arrive. The hotel needs to look at All Inc options as it turned out to be a pricey affair. I would recommend you eat out rather than the hotel. I believe the hotel and its team would struggle at full capacity.
Review 48:Aesthetically pleasing. Great location as long as you have a car. Taxis would provide Expensive. Clean Friendly, Great room and facilities.
Review 49:This hotel was prefect for a relaxing break with my sister. We wanted to have some nice dinners and relax in the sun and that's what we got. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and big bathroom. The room was made up beautifully every day. The breakfast was huge, with everything you can want. We even enjoyed a bit of Cava every morning
Review 50:This does not apply, we could not find any faults.
Review 51:It is hard to put any one thing down as like, the whole experience was pleasurable. Food was excellent, staff were very polite, helpful and smartly dressed.and we must congratulate your gardener, he is doing a job.
Review 52:Shower head in room 318 was loose and sometimes moved leading to a soaking wet floor, also although the shower was super powerful it sometimes went cold then very very hot straight after.
Review 53:Nice views, good food, clean overall
Review 54:What can I say about this extraordinary, beautiful place. We have notbeen here before and cancelled a 5* hotel to book this instead becauseof the reviews.Everything was beautiful. Hotel is set right in front of the sea and golf courses, its impossible not to have a fabulous view no matter where you are in this resort. The gardens are magnificent the trees and the flowers are so well maintained. An invasion of the senses hits you, it is like paradise. The birds are singing, in fact it is the first thing you notice, then you have the sounds from the sea, the smell from the beautiful flowers and gardens. Lovely staff, first class service, attention to detail, cleanliness, excellent room servicing, towels, linen change, free cosmetics etc. Excellent air conditioning system. Beach is just below a gorgeous pool area with a pool bar, beach front restaurant for lunch or alternatively less informal dining for a snack, a beer, glass of wine etc., with outside seating and umbrellas. In fact there were umbrellas everywhere and we appreciated this as we don't like too much sun. Beautiful Balinese beds and ordinary beds also at the beach. Beautiful gardens to stroll in. Secure parking and full time security in the hotel. All in all a 5* experience for 4* prices. What more could you want? We will be back.
Review 55:Restaurant is very good but there is room for improvement on food and smiles.
Review 56:Warm welcome with smile. Great rooms with sea view. Large; Easy. Great pool where we can really swim. Nice beach. Relaxing. 100% satisfied (rarely the case for me)..
Review 57:We loved everything nothing to dislike .
Review 58:The room was perfect lovely views and comfy bed .I asked for a quiet area and got just that .we will return asap to this great hotel on the beach .
Review 59:we had a leak in the bathroom after pouring a bath that did not overflow; the mattress was very hard and we both woke up with low back pain
Review 60:the building architecture and decoration, the position and closeness to the sea, the view, and the staff attentiveness, and the food was good
Review 61:Breakfast was a little bit simple, however what there was was delicious and enjoyed it
Review 62:Loved the staff, spa, the massages were amazing!! the room was spacious... Good food and the fact the hotel Is situated infront of the beach
Review 63:We attended the gala dinner which was very expensive - for new Years eve - the main course was served very cold - meat and vegetables - all was returned to kitchen - it was then reserved - meat warm but vegetables very cold - did not eat the meal - complained at the event but not resolved - very unhappy - would like a response from manager.
Review 64:Hotel restaurant location for breakfast was lovely - rooms were comfortable - staff friendly.
Review 65:The room was described to be 30 som and with a view. To my disappointment i got a room that was crowded with furniture. Maybe the terrace was included in the 30 sqm. There was not anything I call a room with a view. As this was in late November there were very few guests and thus many free rooms.
Review 66:I liked that my pet was welcomed by a dogbed, a goodie, a toy and a dogbowl for food and water.
Review 67:We missed our English papers although there was a hotel copy we wanted to order our own but the hotel could not arainge that.
Review 68:Great hotel for our Boys Trip.Golf was great. The hotel has a terrific setting. Great value out of season
Review 69:We got a normal room although we had reserved and payed for a big superior room. The reception did not want to change the room.
Review 70:very good breakfast, top class sea surroundings
Review 71:Some of guests very rowdy and swearing loudly in the pool. Cooked breakfast very poor. Reconstituted bacon not acceptable. San Pedro as a place is a real dump and has nothing to recommend it.
Review 72:Well located right on the beach
Review 73:Have to pay for parking!! 80/90s decor that's a bit tired. Old men front desk staff who were not very helpful - it was all too difficult. Poor wifi.
Review 74:Beach location. Great for golf too. Pool v large and clean. Breakfast.
Review 75:wifi connection did not work very well, you could hear noice from neighbouring rooms, food at the restaurants (except for breakfast) was only ok
Review 76:location, breakfast, staff friendliness and good service, beach, pool, rooms, environment, spa
Review 77:Perhaps a little trivial but to pay 6 Euro for the sunbeds on the beach was a little annoying after paying so much for the room....
Review 78:We particularly liked the entertainment at dinner sitting out on the terrace with a beautiful view of the ocean. Antony Wolfson is a marvellous singer/entertainer and he added a nice sparkle to our stay. The restaurant/hotel/as well as cleaning staff were accommodating and friendly and the breakfast choices superb! We would like to return soon!
Review 79:It was disappointing that as hotel guests we had to pay to use the sun loungers on the beach.
Review 80:The hotel is situated right on the beach and has a fabulous pool and terrace area. The hotel is beautifully maintained and is in lovely grounds. The rooms were large and spacious. Great pool bar and beachside restaurant.
Review 81:Thought the quality of the food could have been better. Never have been served such awful bacon. It appeared to be more like fried tinned ham than bacon. The reception staff could have been more friendly. The staff in the restaurant and around the pool were much better
Review 82:Very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere with a nice pool and sunbathing area
Review 83:Expensive food while not being so great, Reception staff not fluent in English and having difficulty understanding or guiding us (e.g. not giving enough helpful information re. interesting places/events around the area to visit).
Review 84:Seaview, approximity to beach, pool looking to beach, good location being close to Puerto Banus and Marbella, quiet and relaxing (specially good for young couples with no children)
Review 85:You will need a car if you plan on doing something outside the hotel(and a gps). The rooms should get an update. Rooms aren't sound-proof at all. Bartender really ruins the bar. He's 60+ I guess andnot motivated, slow and doesn't understand "beer" and"wine". I think this is just being ignorant, how can abartender with probably decades of experience not know these basicEnglish words. As a result, the bar was empty. Birds are flying insideduring breakfast. If you have kids, this isn't a good place to go.They also charge 6 euro to rent a bed for a day on the beach per personand the same for parking your car. Drinks at the pool bar are veryexpensive (5,5 euro for a pre-mix fanta that tasted like water). Mostpeople buy cans or large bottles outside as a result. I don'tunderstand they cut the prices, this would generate more sales andbetter service.
Review 86:Very quiet location next to a golf course. Hotel is right at the beach. Most staff are friendly. Nice variation in breakfast. Not to crowded.Spacious rooms and large terrace. A good hotel if you just want to relaxat the pool for a couple of weeks. Great restaurants can be found inPuerto Banus or Marbella by car. I would recommend the hotel, butdon't expect it to be perfect.
Review 87:We did not eat dinner at the hotel as the price seemed a little over the top. The bar menu was reasonable for snacks.
Review 88:We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now. We enjoy it for a number of reasons. The spacious grounds around the hotel and the amazing scents from the beautiful flowers make it a wonderful setting. The hotel is right on the beach and the hotel's large pool is also fantastic. Once you arrive at the hotel it is very secluded and in my opinion this is a bonus. The staff are very helpful and the treatments at the spa were excellent. A car is a must if you want to visit the surrounding areas. Although we did use taxis at night to take us out to Porto Banus and Benhavis. The proximity of the hotel make it an easy drive to Rhonda, Marbella, Mijas, Mijas-costa. We do not play golf but the course looks like a golfers paradise too. Will definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends again.
Review 89:Not too much activities for the pool section or near the beach at the Hotel.
Review 90:We had a wonderfull stay for our Honeymoon. It was clean, had a good and friendly staff and the view is gorgeous. The rooms are spacious, has a comfortable bed and big WCs (nice for couples). You should defenetly go there to have a peacfull stay for chilling out.
Review 91:Nothing!
Review 92:Even though fully booked the hotel did not feel crowded, the pool is fantastic and everywhere is clean. Rooms are spacious, staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast is amazing.
Review 93:Nothing to moan about
Review 94:The pool areas were immaculately maintained and presented. The breakfasts were plentiful and varied and the Sunday lunch was out of this world
Review 95:Hotel is old and needs refurbishing. Poor quality of bed and mattress Food is average Beach lounges are not free of charge for hotel guests ! Very expensive drinks at pool bar
Review 96:Location and view are outstanding. Good breakfast Very nice pool
Review 97:I think the rooms has to be freshened up with some incentense ascustomers using the pool/sea will always leave a damp smell in theroom if not properly odorised. I came accross with this problem withmost of the hotels on the seacoast in many Europeans resorts.
Review 98:We were given a larger room but far away from the restaurant and poolfacilities which we have told them we need to be due to minimise ourtravel towards the pool and restaurant facilieties with our toddler inthe pushchair. We understand that in their view they thought theyupgraded us with a very large room with a sofa and tv area butunfortunately we had to decline it and ask to be relocated to a room asclose as possible to the pool. We have been given room 23 which wasexactly overlooking the pool and just next door to enter the restaurantwhich was exactly what we needed. We found public parking free of chargejust in front of the hotel.
Review 99:we liked all about the hotel, the ambiance, relaxed atmosphere. lovely staff. there was nothing to dislike, i am coming back in march and in august next year
Review 100:Price of small bottle of water €3 (aughch)
Review 101:Loved or room work sea view. Loved the pool area and restaurant areas. Staff are very friendly.will go back ;-)
Review 102:Asked for late checkout told hotel was full checked on booking.com loads of rooms available offered to pay for room told had to check out then check back in after 2 pm ridiculous attitude for 200 euro per day don't deserve the bussiness as I have stayed there several times and have paid to check out late with them before not good service this time
Review 103:Room good size Breakfast good
Review 104:A lot of old rooms, you can even get a room under the restaurant, so you will wake up 06.00 when they start to prepare the breakfast, we had to change room from another room with fungus and was give a new room under the restarant, some staff are very nice, others dont care, even if you rent the best sunbeds for 100 Euro, they will not ask if you need anything to drink, you will need to order yourself at their bar.. so for Marbella, there is a lot of better options.
Review 105:Its a nice location, pool area is good, and buffe restaurant has a nice view
Review 106:The fact we'd paid for a better room than we were given, ended up having to pay an extra £500 to stay in room we had spent £3000 with booking.com ie not the room on the picture (is this the fault of the hotel or booking.com, we don't know)
Review 107:Next to the sea Good location Relaxing (not for person that wants to party)
Review 108:Wi-Fi kept logging out ....but it was free which was a great bonus
Review 109:I stayed 5 nights with my young daughter and found the hotel great value for money with the staff very helphfull .....
Review 110:Pirated salespeople bug you even on the private beach and they don't do enough to stop them, although upon complaint it improved significantly.
Review 111:Nice beach Impressive Golf Facilities Nice looking restaurant (didn't try it though), lovely views Spacious rooms Good location, close to marbella and Puerto Banus, but far enough for peace and quiet.
Review 112:On both our trips here the front of house staffs were shockingly inefficient. This time, the receptionist (male) started to deal with booking us in then proceeded to take three phone calls in front of us, with other members of staff around. When questioned he just said he was very busy! All I know is if I kept one of my customers waiting and dealt with others right in front of them I would soon be out of business. If it wasn't for all other members of staff being great the hotel would get a big no no.
Review 113:Our second stay here. Love the location and facilities. Food is fabulous but there is also other great places to eat a few minutes away.
Review 114:Wifi could have worked better, some connection challenges.
Review 115:Fantastic Golf package with dinner, super service and friendly staff. I can highly recommend the hotel and two good golf courses.
Review 116:Food was average and location is far from everything. Having a car is practically a must.
Review 117:Great Swimming pool and lovely staff. Comfortable rooms. Great hub to visit Tangier, Ronda and other lovely coastal sites.
Review 118:The furniture is old and needs upgrading. The fridge would be better bigger. The food and drinks are over priced especially with children.
Review 119:The swimming pool and the breakfast. We liked the comfortable environment.
Review 120:Paying up front for our stay before getting the key for the room, The man on the desk wasn't at all helpful, he didn't even offer us a map/plan of the hotel, or even explain the parking ticket system. It seemed he was only interrested in taking our money, and not even with a smile. The hotel seemed more interrested in making money at every turn, e.g. lot's of small add on's, between 2 and 6 euro's for stupid items that normally would be included in the hotel price, e.g. 3 euro's per day for tea & coffee in the room, 3 euros per visit to the spa for special slippers and a cap, 6 euro's each for the hotel sun beds on the beach. our 1st day we arrived on the beach at 5pm and still had to pay 12euros !! be up early with your towel, if you wish to be by the pool. We felt that the room was very tired, furniture tatty, not the luxury you would expect for a hotel of that calibre. Overall our experience was very disappointing, and wouln't go back again.
Review 121:you could not beat the location, or the views of the sea,
Review 122:The staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant food was very good and the quiet location was just what suited us.
Review 123:Bar menu was great and really tasty
Review 124:Good location, nice staff.
Review 125:Golf a little pricey
Review 126:Good rooms , good selection for breakfast
Review 127:I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THE RESTURANT MENUE HAD VERY LITTLE VEGETARIAN FOOD.
Review 128:THE LOCATION AND FRIENDLY STAFF
Review 129:Service very bad and no help when asking for something
Review 130:The beach and pool
Review 131:No
Review 132:Nice everywhere. Good Golfcoarts.
Review 133:Great location gorgeous hotel!
Review 134:Wifi was very bad. Slow and low coverage. In the room impossible.
Review 135:No entertainment and a little bit isolated
Review 136:Lovely setting and views
Review 137:Rooms
Review 138:Location, facilities, food
