Reviews for Moevenpick Resort Aswan

Review 1:hotel is run down and needs renovations (typical of most five star hotels in Egypt these days). It is more like a great four star hotel

Review 2:Very good for the price paid. Service is excellent. The location is great

Review 3:The only remark is that the shower in my room had a bad leak, they fixed it but it still leaked, so I had to ask a second time, after this it worked just fine

Review 4:Everything

Review 5:Conference/business traveller style hotel - the actual hotel style is vey much one of concrete, concrete and more concrete - no intimate restaurant or bar areas, does not take advantage of its position on the Nile - grounds not as good as they could be

Review 6:The room was lovely and we had a nice view of the West Bank Great breakfast Ok wifi

Review 7:Their food is incredible, but some dishes were simply terrible. We asked a caesar salad (with chicken breast) and it came with a horrible type of fish. We suspect that the cook had invented the dish, because that combination doesn't exist in the menu.

Review 8:Our room was very comfortable, all the staffs were very friendly and they have the best breakfast I have ever seen.

Review 9:The reception insisted that we had taken a bottle of water (2 egyptian pounds in the market) even though we did not. A case of mis understanding but they were not ready to believe.

Review 10:Location, View

Review 11:- They offer half the price if you reserve by phone.- I thought the room view will be better, we were upgraded to a superior nile view, which is supposedly the best, but you can only have a side view of the nile. - Location is nice, but taking the boat every time we need to cross was a hassle and not as enjoyable as taking a nile cruise. - furniture is old but it didnt matter much, we didnt stay for long.

Review 12:- The view from the top terrace/lounge was really good.- breakfast was nice. - staff were attentive, if only it wasn't for the issue of charging DOUBLE the Price and lying about it when reported.

Review 13:everything was good.

Review 14:great location in elephantine island. big room with balcony, very comfortable and clean. staff is very helpful. the swimming pool is great. breakfast is excellent. the restaurant in top of tower has great views of Aswan. very good free wifi in room and all installations.

Review 17:Hallways were not air conditioned with service doors opened, made it look very poor and feel very hot till you make it to the room.

Review 18:The place is located on an Island in the middle of the river Nile, a shuttle boat is operating around the clock all day long to take you to the island., with rooms overlooking the famous nobles cymitary, the vegetation island and the other side overlooks the great city of Aswan. Staff were super welcoming, high level of hospitality and attentiveness to help. Breakfast was super nice, very big variety. Rooms were very spacious, nice balconies and everything looked fairly new. Very nice open horizon pool...must try.

Review 19:It would have been really great if the beautiful swimming pool had been a little warmer.

Review 20:The view from our room overlooking Kitchener Island was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. My husband enjoyed a relaxing massage, which helped his aching back. We don't understand why more people don't visit Aswan. It is such a beautiful and interesting place.

Review 21:None!

Review 22:It was so peaceful I really enjoyed it,fantastic staff,Merfat at bar,Gaser at restaurant ,Samir security,Mohsen food and beverage, all very helpful!i loved staying in bed and enjoying the Nile view

Review 23:free wifi in lobby very poor, no much info on nubian villages on the island, which are very interesting to visit

Review 24:Comfortable rooms, very spacious, good breakfast, excellent location

Review 25:General maintenance and cleanliness poor (even in the reception area, crumbling dust on the carpet in front of the reception desk)Asked for late check out, was granted two hours beyond check out time from Ms. (Mary, Maria, Mariam?) - not much of a help No free wi-fi in rooms (only in public spaces, none of which were comfortable spaces) At the price paid, free wi-fi in rooms should be standard - had to go to Aswan Moon restaurant on the Corniche to get access to wi-fi Pretty pathetic when you have go across a river to get access to wi-fi in a comfortable location This hotel used to be an Oberoi property, Movenpick hasn't done much to improve it - overall the experience was a disappointment and definitely NOT VALUE for the money spent BEWARE: Don't buy anything in any of the gift shops, pharmacy, etc. on the property - outrageously expensive! Overall a disappointment for such a glorious location with huge unactualized potential

Review 26:Location is spectacular (always has been)Staff was very friendly (the only exception to this was the officious militaristic woman from whom we requested a late check out - give her a job cleaning toilets to learn some humility) Breakfast was very good General Manager was visible and interested in the well-being of the guests

Review 27:The furnishings in the public areas were looking very tired and old-fashioned also the hotel does not provide any Wi-Fi service in the rooms and only in the lobby and restaurants which they charge for and connection was sporadic

Review 28:Great location, friendly stuff, really really nice pool.

Review 29:Kid's pool is very cold

Review 30:Personal touch. Great views from 13th floor and fantastic food. Good pool. Comfortable rooms. Yummy ice-cream. It is like palace on Elephantine island.

Review 31:too much mosquitos in the lobby. I didn't see any in the room, but in the lobby, OMG!

Review 32:the location is on the island, and very green and enviroment friendly. the room is big as somehow I was upgrade to an superior room, but facilities are standard.

Review 33:The location is good. Beautiful river view rooms made us excited. Every person in the hotel is polite. And we really enjoy the dinner on top of the tower with a wonderful night scene of Aswan.

Review 57:Views of the Nile and the sand dunes from the bedroom.

Review 58:Tower viewing area

Review 59:View from the room Comfort

Review 60:no wifi in room

Review 61:excellent location

Review 62:Buffet dinner was discusting

Review 63:Staff Location Scenery Room service

Review 64:The swimming pool wasn't heated.

Review 65:The prompt service. Cleanliness and location

Review 66:Very pleasant, very quiet. Staff helpful and nothing seemed to much trouble. Would definitely stay again. Liked everything

Review 67:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 68:I like the food and the house keeping.

Review 69:to far to walk to the pool.

Review 70:the room and the view and friendly staff.

Review 71:Breakfast below standard for 5 star

Review 72:On an island with a boat connection

Review 73:No wifi in the rooms, internet is not free and expensive. The hotel blocked the price of first night from my card one day before arrival although clearly stated on website that there is no a prepayment deposit.

Review 74:The view, quietness, nature, swimming pool, breakfast varieties, ferry, near city market, and the staff. The hotel upgraded our room.

Review 75:Constantly being asked if everything is ok, especially in the restaurant. It became intrusive. I also found the dining very restrictive and the information out of date - the Orangerie Restaurant is NOT open 24 hrs, it is only open for breakfast. I got ushered out to the pool to eat which I most definitely did not want. What a shame about that new building on the island ruining one of the best views. Can't believe Egypt agreed to that.

Review 76:Feeling secure. Could work there perfectly comfortably.

Review 77:Outrageous prices for connecting to the Internet (LE 99 for a one-day pass), not able to connect to Internet in room. Room seemed outdated. No mosquito grid by the patio door.

Review 78:Nice hotel overall, excellent breakfast.

Review 79:My wife and I got married the same day as the reservation and we were denied the pleasure of a honeymoon at Movenpick. It is alright for Christian couples to enjoy Movenpick but if you are a Muslim couple you must ensure the proper paperwork is complied with by the proper authorities before you get married.

Review 80:Lovely island location overlooking Aswan, complimentary and very frequent shuttle boat to & from the town with helpful staff. Lovely gardens, arriving by shuttle boat with Feluccas drifting by was one of the nicest hotel arrivals I've had. Balcony room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Poolside staff very helpful.

Review 81:Nothing really

Review 82:Wonderful scenery, in the middle of ancient history. A portrait of the wide Nile and mountains in a modern and comfortable atmosphere. The blend of the warm weather, the pool overlooking the Nile and the surrounding palm trees was just Awesome. The fairy boat we take everytime we go to or from the hotel was also so dreamy

Review 83:The location is very good. The staff are very friendly however they're not trained enough to meet the standards of a 5 stars hotel. Dinner was ok. Not much selection was available though.

Review 84:Because i travel allready since 6 1/2 year to this hotel, I feel like in a second home. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Very good quite place to relaxe.

Review 85:1- All facilities specially restaurant & Pool. 2- Staff were all professional & friendly, great hospitality. 3- Immediate & professional problem solving from reception.

Review 86:Very nice hotel. Beautiful and relaxing view on Nile, Kitchener's island and Noble Tombs from our room. Ideal to be very close to Aswan, but at the same time in a very relaxed environment.

Review 87:I liked the quiet, friendly and relaxed atmosphere in pleasant contrast to the rather hassly conditions in the town itself. All staff were professional and competent - and friendly. I was particularly touched to get a complimentary apple juice when for one day I was too unwell to go down for breakfast. I was quite prepared to pay for room service but this evidence of consideration underlined the hotel's culture of good service to its guests.

Review 88:Additional charges for everything. For example, there isn't even atea/coffee station in the rooms, internet is wired, slow and anadditional cost. The only thing that you don't have to pay an extra fee for is the ferry to get you to the hotel.

Review 89:The staff are very helpful and did everything they could to help me out.Rooms are large and well-appointed

Review 90:Extremely well located without noise. An Excellent service espacially a Big THANK YOU to Mr Ali Slah for his help and his quality service oriented.

Review 93:No rental cars services

Review 94:The room was really big and the bed was very comfortable

Review 95:best of the best

Review 100:The price is high.

Review 101:It is a nice place.
