Reviews for Tugasa Hotel Convento San Francisco
Review 1:the toilet would not flush at all - no water inside cystern. it was obviously known as there were pieces of plumbing left on the floor. we were offered a change of rooms but the last two rooms left were very dark and claustophibic as they were tucked far away at the back - most uninviting. so we declined. it was just annoying that it was a problem already known to them but nothing had been done before our arrival. we were offered a very small discount, but it was not afterall the money that mattered. breakfast was poor. the fruit juice was extremely bitter, packet spread of pork fat, pork pate, tomato and jam. not interesting and not good quality. I had wanted to stay here for some years and was sadly dissapointed.
Review 2:location was very good.
Review 3:Kindly and welcoming staff in the reception and bar areas. The hotel is located in a square off the main road to the village, an excellent spot from which to walk and explore the village, its charming medieval alleys, cobbled streets, restaurants, shops and bars.
Review 4:Hotel was located in a typical "white village" that is definitely off the main tourist track. It has all the charms of the other villages but is less crowded.
Review 5:Wi fi can be frustrating, which on the other hand is good when you are on holiday. It generally works well in common areas.
Review 6:An old convert converted into a hotel. Our room had two windows and overlooked the old belfry. Comfortable springless beds, decent size bedrooms and bathrooms. Helpful staff and excellent cleaning standards. Perfectly located with a big, free car park down the slope, just drop the luggage at the hotel before parking as some people might find this slope a bit too steep. A brilliant place overall.
Review 7:We were allocated an interior room with window for a corridor.Stuffed, poorly furnished, no Wi-Fi,and the morning breakfast was a toast and white coffee. I don't recomend it.From the old convent almost nothing left.
Review 8:Excellent location.
Review 9:We could not get the internet to work.
Review 10:We liked our quiet, cool room, the central location in the town, the comfortable beds. We thought our stay was extremely good value for the charge. We were prepared for more spartan standards and on the contrary were really pleased with the room, cleanliness etc.
Review 11:Room 24 smelt of damp.
Review 12:The staff were really friendly and helpful.
Review 13:Breakfast bland
Review 14:Location
Review 15:Breakfast rather basic, Wifi only downstairs and not in rooms,
Review 16:Character of building, Location for walking, Attractive and historic town
Review 17:Wifi didn't work.
Review 18:Lovely location, beautiful building
Review 19:-poor breakfast. -A few weeks after our stay, they charged a "no show" fee to our credit card, although we did stay at the hotel and had already paid. When we explained this, they refused to acknowledge their mistake. We still did not receive our money back. Because of this we would never stay there again.
Review 20:- very beautiful view. - they made a nice welcoming towel swan on our beds - although there wasn't a double bed available, they put the twin beds together themselves. -good location
Review 21:No staff in the restaurant when we went on Sunday night despite being 'open'. Staff at breakfast were rather severe...with everyone, even the locals who had come in for alcohol or coffee.
Review 22:excellent location and friendly staff at check-in. Superb value for money.
Review 23:The only thing I'd say is that the room looked a bit tatty and we felt it needed to be refurbished.
Review 24:Hotel Convento de San Francisco has a very good situation in the centre of Vejer. convenient for exploring the town. The staff is very friendly and helped us to locate the parking spot (which belongs to the hotel) for our car.
Review 25:Only slightly dissatisfied with breakfast. We were given coffee and toasted roll with butter and jam. We were not offered any choice, but noticed another table with cornflakes, fruit and yoghurt as well. We should have asked but were not that bothered about a bigger breakfast.
Review 26:We stayed there 7 years ago and wanted to stay again as we were in the region. Just as delightful a place as before. Lovely room, comfortable bed etc. No hairdryer, but I asked at reception and was given a really good one to use. The position of the hotel is perfect for exploring the little town and as it is on the edge was not far from the public parking to move our luggage.I would always stay there again!
Review 27:Lack of English spoken, waiter a bit inattentive at dinner
Review 28:Location,value for money, friendly staff (although didn't speak English), cuisine, breakfast
Review 29:No double beds , but I did book late.
Review 30:Great location and very helpful staff. They went beyond the call of dutyin returning my cars keys to England which I had left in the room whenchecking out.Good bar used by locals and residents
Review 31:Loved our stay in beautiful old Convent. Hotel had lots of character, staff very helpful, lovely rooms, basic authentic Spanish b/fast butwould definitely stay again. Recommended, very centrally located inlovely Vejer.
Review 32:In comparison with other hotels that I have stayed in in Spain, and given the price of the rooms, the breakfast was modest - coffee, orange juice and a tostada. I think I would have preferred a slightly cheaper room and gone out for breakfast. The hotel room was quite small but it did used to be a nuns cell!!
Review 33:We spent three nights here at the end of August. The location of the hotel was excellent, right in the middle of the town with good on street parking just around the corner. A short walk away from lots of restaurants, bars and ice-cream shops. A really interesting place to stay with a great 'Spanish' feel to it. Our rooms were on the second floor and they had excellent views across the countryside and up the hill to the castle. We stayed on the second floor, but I think the first floor would have been quite noisy as it was above the square which was busy until the early hours.
Review 34:The hotel could do with a little bit more attention to cleanliness - the floor was a bit dusty and the towels could be a touch more fresh, but it wasn't anything to complain about. It's exactly what you would expect for the money. You go there for the character not the luxury.
Review 35:The hotel had a beautiful character - it's an old Convent and you can really still feel the spirit of the place. It is rustic and basic, but comfortable. The staff were friendly and personal especially our pal from the restaurant who woke up at 6am to give us coffee for our road trip back to Seville!
Review 36:Nothing, it's old and simple with great history and rates.
Review 37:This place has a great rustic feel to it. It feels like somewhere Indiana Jones would stay, only with amazing aircon. We brought a bottle of wine from the gorgeous little deli on the corner and sat on the balcony and enjoyed the views. We had to leave at 6am in the morning and they made sure someone was up to make us coffee before we left. He was such a nice friendly man.
Review 38:It is not easy to drive to the hotel and finding a parking is difficult. But there is a free parking 5 minute walk from the hotel. The cleaning of the room can be improved and the continentel breakfast was not a provide a good start og the day.
Review 39:The hotel is charming and the location is perfect for exploring the city. The room we had offered a nice view of the valley below.
Review 40:The bathroom was clean enough however many ants were around. The breakfast is basic and made in a local bar with few choices. One morning, we found mosquitos in our two orange juices.
Review 41:The hotel is an old convent and thus the structure is peculiar. This is nice as is the overall location.
Review 42:Small bathroon and very basic breakfast!
Review 43:We have stayed before, very pleasant no frills hotel, convenientlysituated with clean but fairly basic rooms..air con and tv in fullworking order!
Review 44:Breakfast-as above
Review 45:The place was spotless, room, bathroom, lobby etc. However the breakfastwas served in the bar where locals were drinking-not a very relaxing environment-and the breakfast consisted of orange juice, one cup of coffee and abread roll toasted. Pathetic!
Review 46:Breakfast and coffee surprisingly poor quality.
Review 47:Perfectly situated to explore Vejer de la Frontera. Interesting building with some remaining old frescoes. Receptionist helpful. Convenient to have restaurant on site. Room charming although one at the front would have been better.
Review 48:First bedroom smelt of bad drains (we were told it was due to the winddirect that day) so changed and second room was ok but in January youneed heating and the air con did not heat the room! Felt like campingwith all the layers of blankets we needed. Standard of room was fair, clean but bathrooms showing signs of wear. Overall we approached it as afun experience. But will look for a little more comfort next time.
Review 49:As we visited in early January hotel was the only one that appeared openin Vejer so we were gratefull to find somewhere to stay. Staff andreception were excellent. They even opened up the restaurant for us thesecond night and served only us! Great value and good food. (First nightit was closed due to a political party meeting in the room!) Hotelposition good for old Vejer and central to the community.
Review 50:Special athmosphere, central
Review 51:The bed was too hard and breakfast quite poor
Review 52:I liked e building and the village
Review 53:friendly helpful staff and good value for money
