Reviews for Pensión Bowling

Review 1:Some rowdy noise outside and noisy guests coming back very late. But I think my stay coincided with some weekend sports event.

Review 2:Ideal location very close to railway station. Reasonable room with ensuite even though I only paid for room with shared bathroom. For the price no complaints. Very helpful staff. Bicycle allowed in room. 24 hour reception.

Review 3:It was a fairly noisy hostel and were woken up by people a couple of times in the night (and we were there in October, not a busy time of year!). Wifi was ok, but did drop out of signal occasionally.

Review 4:The hostel was very cheap, and in a good location for the city. On street parking was available close to the hostel (free during the evening).

Review 5:It is near the railway station but one needs to approach from the lower streets to avoid the steep stairs.

Review 6:The attached restaurant prepares good meals especially on weekends. It was a cheaper alternative to staying in the more expensive San Sebastian yet a short train journey away.

Review 7:The room was dirty and the bed was infested with some type of insect. My husband didn't sleep well as he felt he was being bitten and I woke in the morning with two big insect bites on my face.

Review 8:WE needed the staff to speak a little more English. We also needed more options in the dining room menu for travellers, who do not always want a multi course meal-

Review 9:The bed was comfortable and the hotel was close to the railway station

Review 10:Poor welcome from staff at midnight, arriving tired from by train from Paris & London. Failed to identify Booking reservation. Small basic room at peak season rate not good value. But not much choice.

Review 11:Quiet like location in central Irun. Good connection by Metro alongside to San Sebastian and Hendaye (France). Friendly morning staff. Take frequent bus to ancient Hondarabia and lovely beach. Or Metro to S.Sebastian or Hendaya for a walk along lovely shore.

Review 12:The room was barely big enough for two people to move around in and the bathroom had an unpleasant smell.

Review 13:Very cheap, quick easy booking and check in, great location in the centre of town and right next to train station (if you need it). Lovely, friendly staff.

Review 14:The bathroom was the disappointment , the toilet was caked thick below the waterline and around the bend area, The shower base was cracked in a couple of areas, the shower cubicle was held together by metal brackets but even so the perspex was falling out of one of the panels , the 2 sliding parts that closes the shower cubicle shut were missing and replace with a shower curtain that made it nearly impossible to have a shower, the shower head was broken and even sprayed water out of a crack in the back of the shower rose. Their were 3 lights above wash hand basin and only one bulb worked but one bulb was broken and what I presume is a live bulb element was sticking out of it .

Review 15:Not a bad bedroom good size with wide screen TV which was to one side of the room and not adjustable to view from bed.

Review 16:The dinner meal in the restaurant was not to my liking. But I cannot judge the entire menu. Avoid the Russian Salad, Duck was overcooked but acceptable. Fixed price of 20Euro was on the high side for the town

Review 17:Nothing stands out since it was just an inexpensive hotel. But the staff was friendly we managed to communicate using pidgon french

Review 18:The wifi did not work in the room. The breakfast was 8 euros a person!! Seriously over priced for what they offer. Cheese, ham and hb eggs and bread. There was no kitchen we could cook in and they didn't let us use the microwave.

Review 19:The location was good.

Review 20:Nothing really negative to say, price was a little more than average for this category of accommodation though.

Review 21:The young girl at reception was fantastic, and was extremely helpful. The wifi was perfectly adequate, and the rooms were great for a quick one night stay. The hotel is just down the road from the train station which was ideal.

Review 22:Smell of stale smoke from previous occupants. Although this can be a characteristic of many hotels in Spain and part of the cultural acceptance of smoking in public places.

Review 23:A good budget option if staying the night. Overall the room is great value for money and clean and well presented.

Review 24:Railway line right outside room. Noisy from this and general rowdiness (was a Saturday night). Did have double windows but very stuffy with them closed.

Review 25:Its close proximity to the stations. Very reasonably priced.

Review 26:They did not find our reservation for a long time; very loud at night because of the passing trains; you can hear every single noise from the hallway

Review 27:Good location: near the train station

Review 28:I expect European rooms to be small, but this one was really tiny. The bathroom would be impossible for anyone who was overweight. I am of average build and thin, and I had trouble . The hotel is located right next to the train tracks--the trains did not bother me, but they might bother someone who wants complete quiet.

Review 29:The room was small but very clean and well kept. The staff was very helpful. The morning breakfast had lots of variety and was reasonably priced. I think that this hotel is under new management. It seemed to me that they were getting it together, and learning as they were going. The hotel is very close to the main street.

Review 30:Only a little bid of dust in the furniture.

Review 31:Close to the train Station and Metro of Donostia. Staff very kind. Ratio Price / accomodation very good. Lift available.

Review 32:Wifi didn't work properly on laptop, but worked on smartphone.

Review 33:It was quiet and clean.

Review 34:The room was big, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for my train the next morning and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Review 35:train make me headache .

Review 36:not far from station and food .

Review 37:Trains ran all night wasn't in the best location

Review 38:Quarto muito quente, mesmo com as ventoinhas ligadas.

Review 39:Bom preço.

Review 40:Trains very early in the morning whistling loudly through a tunnel nearby.

Review 41:In the middle of the city.

Review 42:Our hosts were extremely helpful with our bicycle delivery.

Review 43:Found an article of clothing for us which we had left behind.

Review 44:You could hear neighbours returning to their rooms during the night.

Review 45:It was cheap and the young lady on receptions was very good.

Review 46:Wifi dropped out - not a big deal

Review 47:We had bicycles delivered to the pension. They kindly stored the bikes for us and assisted in any way they could.

Review 48:I have stayed here on several occasions and always found it good value for money.

Review 49:It was just one night stand up good

Review 55:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 56:This hotel was great value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had the set menu for dinner - it was excellent.

Review 57:Next to train track!

Review 58:CLEAN place! Staff very helpful and committed to job. Great shower. No problems for budget traveller this is great.

Review 59:Poor cleanliness. The room was too hot. It does not have AC it only has a fan. WiFi did not work all night.

Review 60:Staff is nice.

Review 61:The walls are so thin that I heard every noise from the corridor. Although the bed was comfortable, I didn't sleep too good because of other guests coming and going, which constantly woke me up

Review 62:It is central and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 63:My non smoking room smelled of smoke. It really drove me crazy in the night - I think it was in the sheets and blanket. And people were slamming doors all night long. I slept little. The train noise was not so bad. No toilet paper - do you have to specifically ask for it?

Review 64:Nothing.

Review 65:Easy to walk to from the train station, clean as anything, decentstaff and excellent quality for the modest price. Now seems to havean associated restaurant on the ground floor where breakfast was allof 2.40 Eur.

Review 66:The windows in the room were not easy to open and close and neither the blinds! When someone leaves one of the others rooms, you can listen all the noise in the corredor, that's not nice.

Review 67:Although the host didn't speak english, he was very nice and helpfull! The room was ok!

Review 68:Had difficulty in finding exactly the location of the accommodation when we arrived in Hendaye by bus from Biarritz airport. Would suggest getting a taxi from the train station(where bus dropped us off) as it is not easy trying to find somewhere when carrying heavy ruck sacks on a warm afternoon. But once we found it - it is slightly below main street level and further into the town tham suggested by the google map location -it was perfect and a good location for a bed on eve of starting the camino.

Review 69:Convenient accommodation at the start of the Camino del Norte in Irun. Near to the tourist office which was very helpful in providing info on the Camino route etc.

Review 70:We didn't realise when booking that there was a railway line rightout side front door and trains went ever 5 mins up to 11.30 at night andagain from 7.30 in morning very noisy . Breakfast was terrible it costeuro 5.50 for coffee orange juice and 1 slice of toast .

Review 71:The family room had 3 single beds and a double , the room was large andthere was free wifi . Plenty of space

Review 72:room beside the railway lines meant it was very noisy, lack of fan or air conditioning and minor maintenance issues such as broken shower head could certainly be improved upon

Review 73:clean room near the city centre at a reasonable price.

Review 74:The hotel is located only a few meters from the railway. We could not sleep at all with trains passing every hour at night!

Review 75:The family room was nice, well equiped and clean,

Review 76:Paper thin walls of tiny rooms. Friendly staff, grim joint, use only in emergency.

Review 77:Friendly staff, mattress was good and the coffee in the morning was excellent.

Review 78:The room was very small and it was right above the metro tracks, so it was noisy all night.

Review 79:The staff was very friendly and helpful (although they don't speak english). It is close to the train station, so it's convenient as a stop over.

Review 80:Poor wifi. No laundry facilities. Noisy location next to train station and paper thin walls.
