Reviews for Viva Rey Don Jaime & Spa
Review 1:Very friendly staff and excellent food. Great location, very close to the beach and the bus to Palma was only about 5 minutes away. Would definitely come back again and recommend to anyone.
Review 2:EVERYTHING !!! great comfy beds/room, brilliant staff & food & location.we thank you for our most enjoyable stay, & we will be back for sure { ;-)
Review 3:No views. Room gloomy. Terribly thin walls so next door TV ruined my holiday. Swimming pools difficult to get into as no handrail beside stairs. Nowhere to sit as balcony had no views, and public lounge full of very loud bingo and rubbish entertainers.
Review 4:Food was good and varied.
Review 5:Our bathtub was not cleaned properly and it could be better done.
Review 6:I liked the swimming pool on the roof with a very nice view and the cleanness of the hotel in general.
Review 7:We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Ideal location, very clean in the hotel and town, the staff were wonderful, nice room, balcony, fridge, kettle flat screen TV with various channels, the towels were changed every day, beds very comfortable, very varied and high quality food, drinks were available in the restaurant - wine, beer, soft drinks and hot drinks, free Wi-Fi... Thanks Viva Rey Don Jaime for a fantastic holiday.
Review 8:Poor room size, sea view blocked by wall, NO Fridge in room!! (i have not been in any hotel without a fridge for keeping drinks in!) safe in room but want you to pay for key! in fact they try many ways to get you to pay for things that are standard in other 4 star hotels! room walls too thin, couldn't watch TV without someone knocking on wall! Poor entertainment in hotel staff were mimeming to songs little effort in stage ware! nothing for younger people, hotel dead at 11.30 each night! Hotel way over priced, poor location, food was ok but if less people in hotel, they brought out less selection!,not good with main course, selection a little bland for the amount of money paid for hotel! Would not go to this hotel again!!! I've been in a better hotel for £25 per night! HB,. I am sorry, this is for you Booking .Com if give a quote for a hotel, please do not,add vat,in small print, the price i agreed was not the price i had to pay at the hotel,a little unprofessional!! does not give me much faith in getting a good deal!
Review 9:Pool on roof, but you had to que early in morning to get a place! suggest different method for getting a place ! you got no chance in high season! Bed cumfortable but a little small! not much else! Wine was ok!
Review 10:easily to hear people talking behind the wall, as well as surprised bed sheets were changed just once during 5 days..
Review 11:Food and drinks just amazing :) would love to come back million of times :)
Review 12:Only slight snag was the queues at the bar but it didn't spoil it 4 us, just worth mentioning.
Review 13:The food was very high standard & couldn't believe the variety. Also, the roof top terrace made us feel like VIP's, the view was amazing!
Review 14:Put off sitting by pool by entertainment suddenly spoiling the nice quiet relaxing atmosphere by putting loud music on at midday to try and get people to do aqua aerobics or announcing quizzes
Review 15:This was one of the best hotels we've stayed in over the world. Very friendly and helpful staff, spotlessly clean throughout, very comfortable bed and room in general, had a sea view which was unexpected! Only stayed B&B but dining room was very clean and everything you could think of on offer. Did not see any queues at bars previously mentioned. Good location 2 mins from beach.
Review 16:Why cups and kettle in hotel rooms, but no tea and coffee?!
Review 17:Clean, modern & welcoming hotel + staff in a lovely location! Roof pool was a lovely feature!
Review 18:Queuing on the 5 th floor outside our room at 10 am but really not a problem people are quite no noise heard
Review 19:Not much to say amazing location staff very friendly and helpful what more could you want
Review 20:Hotel is awesome! Restaurant serves great food, and the choice is immense! Beach is 5 minutes walking, it's big and sandy, and offers sunbeds with umbrellas for additional price. There are also great trees on the beach, so you can lie under them to avoid sun :) We've been on our honeymoon, and were satisfied as hell.
Review 21:There wasn't much you could fault at all the length of the ques at the bar but they went down quick enough
Review 22:Just returned from this fabulous hotel iv stayed in many hotels over the years but none can touch this on food for AI the decor is great the staff are fantastic we will definately be returning here! Highly recommended
Review 23:Having to wait in line to get a drink at night, they need a help yourself station for draught lager and wine like they do at dinner or a seperate cocktail bar.
Review 24:Everything!! The food was amazing, the staff were helpful and couldn't do enough for you and the cocktails were all freshly made.
Review 25:Bedroom was excellent. There was a great choice in the diversity of the food provided each day. Location was perfect as only three - five minutes to the sea.
Review 26:Someone had wiped food stuff on the inner side of lift doors and it remained throughout the holiday, There were always a large number of mosquito's in the dining room and enclosed bar. Smoking around the pool and bar area's. I thought Spain were in the EU and had to abide by EU law " No Smoking in a Public place" it seems to be a common practice in Spain.
Review 27:All staff were excellent, bar staff, food hall staff, entertainment staff, pool staff , room service staff and the reception staff. The location of the hotel was well positioned for the beach. The family pool was superb, the adults only pool and bar area was excellent with fantastic aerial vista of the bay and beach. Room was good with comfortable beds. The food was of good quality and very varied with excellent choice of fish, meat, paella, salads, vegetables topped with many waist expanding deserts. Overall the hotel and services were top class.
Review 28:Queues for bar and dining room. Lack of drawers in bedroom. Entertainment poor, flying team did well on tribute to boy bands.
Review 29:All inclusive good value. Closer to beach. Good beds.
Review 30:Everything about this hotel is top class wether it be staff, food, facilities, cleanliness and activities during the day an night. The best hotel I have ever stayed in and will definitely be back!
Review 31:NOT BEING ABLE TO DO A EARLY MORNING SWIM, BEFORE EVERYBODY GETS IN THE POOL, THIS IS FOR HEALTH REASONS. NOT ALLOWED TO SWIM OR GO ON THE ROOF TERRACE UNTIL 10AM [NEVER HEARD OF THAT AND I AM WELL TRAVELED]. THE BAR WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM BADLY WORKED OUT [AND I DID NOT DRINK].
Review 32:THE HOTEL OVERALL
Review 33:Just one very small thing - there was a pretty bad smell in the main bar area and in reception, don't think it was the hotel's fault, possibly something nearby
Review 34:Excellent overall, food was lovely, staff were lovely, excellent pool , everything was really close by
Review 35:The sunbeds were packed in so closely you had no personal space around you - it was like sardines! As a consequence we did not use the pool at all but went to the beach each day. There were occasions when there were insufficient staff serving in the Bistro and and main bar area which resulted in long delays in being served. Some of the staff, particularly in the main bar area, were civil without being friendly or welcoming. Not enough staff clearing tables at peak times and the manager was miserable and unhelpful.
Review 36:Liked close proximity to the sea (a 2 minute walk) and the beach was beautiful and not over crowded. Food was good, varied and plentiful. I especially enjoyed the salads. We were all inclusive and felt the hotel was very good value for money.
Review 37:The queues at the bar in the evening were disgraceful and spoiled the entertainment. There was no table service and whoever went to the bar was away for about half an hour so we never felt we were all sitting enjoying the evening all together. They need more bar staff. The same at pool bar during the day.
Review 38:A lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Accommodation was perfect for us and meals were varied and well organised.
Review 39:Very limited amount of storage for 3 people for 11 days. The hotel badly need to invest in chest of Drawer for each room or some clever storage solution. Would put me off going again as having to keeping stuff in suitcase v annoying, pity because everything else v good.
Review 40:The Hotel food, staff etc all v good
Review 41:Queing at the bar for a drink Mosquitoes Too many sun beds around the pool, couldnt walk through safely
Review 42:The holiday was just great. Food fantastic. Pool area clean and cleanliness of the hotel really good
Review 43:So many Mosquitos due to nearby viaduct, very annoying in dining area. Long queues for bar.
Review 44:Lovely decor, comfortable and clean. Good selection of food and all inclusive well worth it
Review 45:One leery waiter who wouldn't stop looking at my boobs and following me around . I found it very uncomfortable and I'm sure I'm not the first .
Review 46:Roof top pool area was stunning with great views and a bar serving cocktails . Excellent all inclusive could not fault the selection and quality . Very clean . Staff generally cheerful and helpful. I had to change my flight and the reception staff let me phone the uk from their phone even though i was kept on hold for 10 minutes by the airline . I was impressed at their genuine desire to help .
Review 47:Area bit commertial but location is good to travel around the island.
Review 48:Great pools on the roof and down stairs, supeerb breakfast many options you yould eat and eat every day something new, deliciouse dinners :). Really clean and very friendy staff.
Review 49:Poor breakfast meniu, I missed some salads, tomatoes or cucumbers. I was not satisfied of cleaning at the room, because dusts and floors was cleaned one time per 10 days of my holiday. Also an air - conditioniers didn' t work at my and my friends rooms, so was quite hot to sleep
Review 50:Delicious foods and drinks, nice bartenders. You can choose a lot of different dish on lunch and on evening. You can really find what to eat.
Review 51:The food was very sloppy! They have 3 grills infront of the customers so I was expecting maybe steaks cooked to order but the only use of the grills was 1 for eggs in the morning! This was very disappointing. We had to eat out every night as we hated the food at dinner but could just about stand it for breakfast! Also the outdoor pool is not heated so was colder than the sea so we didn't get to go in there and the steam room was broken for our whole stay
Review 52:The bedrooms are brilliant we got a side sea view and everything about the room is lovely. The indoor pool with jacuzzi and sauna is a nice touch.
Review 53:Lovely pool but only open 10.00am - 18.00pm. E21 a week extra for use of small fridge and e12 for kettle. 6.55am pick up on shuttle b us when flight not scheduled to leave until 10.35am and airport only 20kms away. Everyone has a car in Majorca now and congestion can be bad at certain times. . Bed linen too small and never stayed in place. But thats all. This was a good hotel, would recommend to anyone. And I am a fussy 69 year old pensioner.
Review 54:Location was excellent, 100m to beach,on level site, easy walk, less than 200m to bus stop to Palma which only took 30mins. Food excellent, had a different roast every day, superb fruit including pineapples and melons properly peeled. Lovely big rooms with excellent Air Con. Great Los Bitles tribute Band - brilliant.
Review 55:only one plug in room which was well out of reach for the mirror, no facilities for tea making, there is a sewage building at the top end of the street, really, really, stinking smells from it when walking past it, there is no way to avoid it.
Review 56:We stayed in Rey don Jamie before it was redecorated, very convenient to shops, buses, etc. the food was excellent and well varied, some staff were a bit grumpy, the rooms were good sized.
Review 57:The food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. But still better than most hotels.
Review 58:The staff were great. The entertainment was really good. Pool was clean. Hotel room was cleaned and tidied every day with fresh towels.
Review 59:Loved everything!Hotel is like a 4 star!Room was great, lobby super modern and clean, staff so friendly, from reception to the lovely Restaurant Staff and Chefs,to the super Almu the lifeguard in the pool, bartenders, everyone!Restaurant food good, and plenty of options,it just keeps coming!Location perfect, near shops and beach 2 min.walk.Seaside is amazing, you can also take a boat trip or a bus to Palma,so no need for car rental!Pool always clean and plenty of sunbeds, also indoor pool,so what more could you want?we all loved Viva!besos from baby Stella
Review 60:not enough entertainment for kids during the day
Review 61:i liked the fact there is an indoor pool and the choice of food on offer at breakfast lunch and dinner
Review 62:My room was flithy. I had no towel changes for the week and had to 'borrow a bath towel from one of my party the last few days. There was no matress protector on the bed I decided to turn the matress bad idea the staining was much worse on the other side all three pillows in the bedroom smelt of sweat. There was grime on the dressing table I had to wash it before I put my make up on it. The windows did not close properley and I had to leave them ajar. Very unsafe room for children . I would not recommend it to anyone don't go there it is very poor and not cheap for what you paid for it
Review 63:The breakfast was excellent for me as I am a vegetarian and so the choices were very good plenty of fresh fruit and cheeses. There was a great variety of breads, crackers and staples such as baked beans.
Review 64:Wifi at 6euros a day, and 3 euros a day rental
Review 65:Location was very good, only a few minutes from the seafront. Large spacious dining and entertainment areas. Large pool. Food was excellent with varied selections available.Staff always friendly.
Review 66:Large hotel - bit impersonal ( i prefer smaller hotels), had to pay for fridge use and wi-fi.
Review 67:Clean, tidy, close to the beach. Good breakfast. Good sized room. All rooms had a balcony. Air conditioning.
Review 68:food ( a lot of choice but poor quality for 4****)
Review 69:great location, friendly staff, big familyroom with all the necessary comfort (refridgerator, water heater...)
Review 70:Quite dated decor, but it's being re-vamped. Entertainment verydated..parrot show no I don't think so that dates back to the70's No draws in new bedrooms. Reception toilet stinks. Beer matsthat do not soak up liquid. No inter -connected rooms so if you takekids they can be in a seperate room but you can still see them. Going upmarket now so a lot to do if the put the prices up by £200 per per.
Review 71:Location, food, a safe place to be, lots of sun beds & umbrellas.
Review 72:nothing, overall a very good hotel.
Review 73:very good hotel, great value for money, staff very friendly....the guy doing the quiz and the bingo is an asset to this hotel...will definitely go back next year, its being upgraded to 4 star which will be even better.
Review 74:Original room we were offered at the back of the hotel didn't have a very good view but well worth paying the extra little bit for a sea view.
Review 75:Staff all amazing - especially the female lifeguard, she couldn't do enough for everyone! Entertainment good (although we didn't have kids entertainment as out of holidays) food excellent - especially the daily roasts if you wanted them. Literally 200 yards from a lovely beach and loads of shops and bars. Can't wait to see it refurbished next year - can only get better!
Review 76:The quality of cleaning is not so good. Can't say it was bad, but could be better. And i have read previously about the quality of towels - oh God..I wanted to buy some towels for them. I mean they are clean and fresh every day, but really really used. Animation - don't really know. But the one time i have been there in the evening, it was not so good. There was some mysterious show with cheap tricks.
Review 77:Location of the hotel is great. Jut few minutes to the beach and street with bars and restaurants. It is huge, so there are lots of guests. But at the breakfast it is not a problem, because there is lots of food. The variety is good, lots of fruits, pancakes, eggs, etc. Every day U can find smth new to eat. Had just breakfast, so don't know about other meals.
Review 78:Dinners are poor, they should definitely work on it.
Review 79:Great, helpful, funny, friendly staff - whatever you need they'll try to arrange it. Location was good, just 2 minutes from beach and promenade. Peaceful place, no crazy parties around the pool etc. like in other hotels in Santa Ponsa.
Review 80:Bed linen too small for the bed and the view, my room was at the back, although this did not spoil my holiday and there is not a great deal can be done
Review 81:Food facilities and staff also close to beach
Review 82:This hotel will upgrade itself into 4-star next year even though the lever is hardly 3-stars now. The hotel itself has great opportunities, but management has failed to take advantage of them. Instead, they jeopardize even the three-star level. Their biggest challenges are: level of service and rooms, quality of food and unprofessional reception staff. For example, all inclusive does NOT include bottled water. So if you have rented a kettle (12 eur/week) you have to go to the pool-side bar and fill it there (if there is any water left in the container). When I questioned this Jose in the reception answered (in his own words) that bottled water is a luxury that you have to pay for. I tried to reason him that water actually is a necessity. He disagreed but because of his poor English skills it was quite difficult to understand what was his objection to this argument. In the end I felt like trying to discuss with a donkey and gave up. This water episode seems quite silly now, but when you add it up to all the other minor shortcomings you'll have quite a pile. No beach-towels (not even for rent) Expensive WiFi Tasteless food Clientele (British blue collar workers with their undisciplined offspring... you get the picture) Very small room (but clean) Very crowded pool side where sun loungers are crammed side by side touching each other You have to pay for a fridge and deposit box! Paper thin walls Very old and squeaking mattress/bed All in all I don't recommend this hotel to anyone else than British who enjoy their own kind and has lost their taste buds. Who willing pay extra for services that are normally free of charge. If you still think that you want to spend your precious holiday in this dump, a word of caution: Be aware that room door does not always go into the lock. Check it every time when leaving the room.
Review 83:Rooms Small, extra hidden charges - Kettle and Fridge etc Didn't really cater for vegetarians - limited selection and what was available was bland
Review 84:Staff were friendly and professional. Hotel was modern and clean Good selection of food, quality also good.
Review 85:Dinners were a bit bland. Far too many kids in the pool, constantly jumping in water and splashing.
Review 86:Hotel was very good, breakfast and lunch's were good. Facilities were great.
Review 87:I did not like that as a all inclusive guest I could not got the coctails I wanted as they were made from the aparat, so in this case i could only ask for those ones. What else the hotel is very big and crowded, and I could easily hear children running as well as shouting through the corridors.
Review 88:I really liked a location, food and staff
Review 89:The cleanliness of the rooms needs improvement.I found a lot of hair on the bathroom floor. The bedsheets are supposed to be changed every 3 days but were not. The walls are quite thin , so we can hear the noise coming from the neighbouring rooms.
Review 90:Very close to the beach, restaurants and shops. The staff is very helpful. A good variety of food at breakfast. Some good entertainment for the children ( magic show, exotic show )
Review 91:The requests we made on booking.com were not completed.
Review 92:We stayed here for a week. The room was quite cosy, clean. Hotel is about 200m from the beach. Breakfast was full of choices but same every day.
Review 93:Pillows and Mattress of poor quality for 4 star. Rooms over pool are a bit noisy from 10 am on. Pool and sunbed area little small for number of guests at peak time. Fridge should not be extra charge.
Review 94:Location is great, Rooms are lovely Facilities are good Lifts are great Staff are helpful Nice people mainly staying.
Review 95:Arrived to be checked in very quickly & efficiently by reception staff. Was also presently surprised to be told we had been given one of the recently refurbished rooms. It was lovely and spacious and very clean! Restaurant was although busy at times, we always found a table not problem and the food was good and plentiful. Bar staff were all really nice and helpful, found out on the last night could get Cava on the all inclusive!! Wish we had realised sooner lol. The pool area did get busy but on the 3 days I was there managed to get a lounger. But if you want that perfect spot or in a large group prob best to put your towels down early! It did fill up quick. Pool was a welcome relief on the very hot days and the life guard was really friendly and took time to speak to people around the pool, always had a smile! I would definitely stay here again if I was returning to Santa Ponsa. The hotel is hoping to be a 4 star in 2015 with a roof top pool....result!!
Review 96:There's nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
Review 97:Relaxed, friendly, quiet at night, very clean. An "all inclusive" holiday includes all food and drink from every bar & restaurant, even after check out on your departure day. Very friendly, efficient staff. Drinks were served very quickly. Lovely children's activities all day /evening and lots of adult space too. I'm definetly returning with my children. 35-40E,in a taxi, from the airport. (One of the nearest resorts to the airport).
Review 98:having to pay for fridge, safe deposit box, to use the computer, wi-fi, kettle, iron, some game equipment. Water at meal times if not all inclusive. getting up at 6.30am if I wanted a sunbed. pool keep closing because child's poo in pool 3 out of 7 days. The evening guessed Entertainment poor well below from my other years of visits. Missed the wonderful Danish pastry in the mornings, and walnuts with the cheeses.
Review 99:The Staff from the moment we arrived, waiters and waitress, maids made to feel welcomed. Brilliant Entertainment Team [thou should have been more than 3 people] the team worked very hard but still had a smile. The food was nice and lots of it [ the presentation well below]
Review 100:Wi-fi reception was poor throughout the building but good at reception area. You do have to pay for it additionally. Eventhough there was plenty of sun loungers around the pool guest tends to reserve them with towels and when you come around 9am there are hardly any left. There is a 40 mins max rule of leaving your empty towel there which seemed to be ignored by majority of guests but this is not hotel's fault and at least gave us a reason to go out and enjoy the beach.
Review 101:Great location (only about 2mins walk to the beach), good choice of food but gets repetitive after a while, amazing staff always with the smile on their faces, good sized pool, quiet room, shops very close by and good value for money.
Review 102:Where to start, food was the worst I ever experienced. The room we were allocated couldn't be any further away from lifts and reception and everyday sometimes two three times a day we had to keep going back to reception to get our card key reset very annoying. The staff seem very miserable, exception of reception staff. In my opinion there is not enough outside space for the capacity of the hotel, I was there for a week and only got sunbed one day ridiculous I was all inclusive and ended up going to hotel down the road for a relaxing bath by the pool with a sun lounger and had to pay for drinks so ended up costing me more money. If this is reopening as 4* hotel next year all these things need to improve.
Review 103:This was a nice hotel, some staff were okay.
Review 104:The pool was so crowded, what the pictures don't show you is that fact that on one side of the pool the loungers are 9 rows back! on another side they are 6 rows deep! and on the other 2 sides they are 2 rows deep. If you weren't out at 8:30/9ish to get a seat, you hadn't much hope for the day. We went down one day and had to sit for about an hour on seats waiting for folk to leave. Everyone seems to be all inclusive when they stay so the restaurant feels a bit like a canteen. We had lunch one day, and to be honest it was hard trying to put together a nice plateful of food, despite the amount of it being there. Deserts were abysmal. I phoned 3 times to reception to ask for more pillows and they never came that night. If there is 400+ rooms, you can imagine how many there are at the pool, hence the reason no lilos are allowed, disappointing for some I'm sure, as it shows it in the hotel pics. Extras in the room like the safe and fridge were charged for.
Review 105:Breakfast was very good, large amount of choices. Location to shops, restaurants and beach. Quiet, although I slept with earplugs in. Staff were helpful and friendly at reception. Comfortable run of the mill hotel rooms. Entertainment at night seemed to be good, although we only stayed about 20 minutes each night cause sleep was calling.
Review 106:Beds not particularly comfortable, air conditioning pretty useless. Drinks at the bar expensive if not on all inclusive
Review 107:Good location close to beach, and bars all around the santa ponsa/ costa de la calma area. Breakfast very good with excellent choice of English/spanish
Review 108:Thought that having to fetch you own drinks at dinner while the half board people were served was a bit much Snack bar was very poor Feeling like a poor relation to the half board people because they were served first at the bar
Review 109:Cheap all inclusive Short walk to beach Food good if a little bit like a works canteen.
Review 110:nothing
Review 111:location excellent breakfast very good and plenty of choice bedroom quiet excellent value for money more luxurious than hotels in the resort at a higher price
Review 112:Going home :)
Review 113:Everything! Food, facilities, staff, spa, all of it! We couldn't fault a thing.
Review 114:Nothing
Review 115:Everything great hotel has everything you need rooms very comfortable and breakfast was very good.
Review 116:Early in the morning clearners stood under our room taking very loud before starting work.in 08.00am.need to talk somewhere else.hmmmmmm.
Review 117:Staff were not very informative at check in and no friendly atmosphere from them. Wellness staff were friendly.
Review 118:Location and cleanliness of the hotel
Review 119:Hotel is just fab.. staff, service excellent. This was our second visit this year & hope to be back next year.
Review 120:Really liked the location of the hotel, the hotel layout is very good and the staff werer helpful and friendly.
Review 121:There wasn't much entertainment, could do with some music etc during the day at the pool.
Review 122:Great location, lovely hotel
Review 123:Comfy beds, fridge in room. Excellent food and drinks. Great staff. Close to beautiful beach.
Review 124:Staff friendly and helpful, hotel very clean. A good choice of food, close to beach.
Review 125:Loungers at bit tightly packed by the pool.
Review 126:Excellent food and drinks. Good location near to the beach. Reception staff are very helpful and friendly.
Review 127:Queuing on top floor for bed on roof top but it was to be expected
Review 128:Everything
Review 129:Clear tables quicker More chicken
Review 130:none
Review 131:Food was excellent lots of choice great bistro food too, great variety of drinks, lovely hotel
Review 132:The only problem was the mosquito bites. Horrendous. Apart from that excellent.
Review 133:The amount of Mosquitos that were in reception & the reception public toilets
Review 134:The breakfast was fantastic , catered for everyone
