Reviews for Hotel-Restaurant Le Moulin De La Camandoule

Review 1:The room was a little dated but otherwise very comfortable.

Review 2:Close to where I needed to be and also the restaurant was open so I didn't have to go out to find something to eat.

Review 3:The extras were a bit pricey - drinks, breakfast, hot tub. Breakfast was ok but not exceptional. We had a nice balcony but the room itself was on the small side, understandable in an old building

Review 4:the old mill was lovely, great setting, v friendly staff, excellent restaurant, walking distance to the lovely Fayence

Review 5:Includes a nice a la carte restaurant but a bit pricey so didn't try it. Would have liked tea/coffee making facility in room

Review 6:We had the 2-storey 'annexe' room ("Ecurie") comprising G/F lounge and bathroom with spiral staircase to F/F bedroom with 'four poster' type bed - really quirky but nice! The whole building is a tucked-away restored Mill and retains most of the original wheel house equipment cleverly integrated into the decor of the Bar and the Restaurant - looks brilliant! Friendly staff and delicious breakfast.

Review 7:This is a wonderful hotel with excellent staff. We received a very warm welcome and it only got better. Don't miss the dining experience in the restaurant. Delicious!!

Review 8:Nothing to dislike at all.

Review 9:Breakfast and dinner very good and good value for the quality and choice. Location quiet and peaceful if a liitle far from the village.

Review 10:it was very difficult to connect wifi in the private room.

Review 11:beautiful sight, including the air, lights, sent, colors for everything made us so brillant. all staffs were so kind and sweet for every guests. it was the most unforgettable stay fou our life.

Review 12:Cost of meals in the restaurant and our second night was a disappointment as the standard was not as good. Wonky table and broken chair didn't help

Review 13:Helpful staff. Lovely setting

Review 14:Heavy comforter too warm for summer weather.

Review 15:Fabulous dinners; friendly, low-key staff; beautiful grounds; pool; effective/quiet air conditioning; excellent value; proximity to Fayence

Review 16:bathrooms tiny non-resident locals bringing their noisy dogs and children to the pool-side no drinks service before 1900

Review 17:The dining terrace is beautiful. there is a good sized pool with a grill restaurant

Review 18:The room we booked had been taken as it was ground floor and we have adog but the ladt tried to get the people to change, unfortunately theywoulnt but no big deal. Very nice place

Review 19:Great traditional Chateau

Review 20:Wish the restaurant was open on Wednesday (and Thursday?). Service for breakfast on Thursday when, it seems, regular restaurant staff had a well-deserved break, was not up to par (service for coffee was quite slow, coffee was cold when received and staff disappeared after that).

Review 21:The restaurant-- food and service wee terrific. Access to room a bit challenging but not as much as we expected for a very old charming mill building. And staff were quick to offer to handle our baggage for us. We would definitely like to return.

Review 22:does not suit people with walking problems unless they get å room on ground level

Review 23:charming beautiful surroundings and nature, very good food and very kind staff

Review 24:The facilities are limited, unfortunately the pool doesn't open till May.

Review 25:Food! We ate at the hotel both nights. The food, atmosphere and service was great.

Review 26:The gardens could have done with a tidy up, but we went in October and of course it was the end of summer

Review 27:The location is excellent and well known to us from previous visits in the region. The staff are excellent and the food exquisite.

Review 28:i had the smallest room in the hotel, 'Tourette', which was fine; of course the bathroom was in proportion, so the toilet would be a bit of a squeeze for any non slim guests, and impossible to take a shower without soaking the floor, including some overflow into the room itself.

Review 29:The evening meal which was simply fabulous; Breakfast, which included a wonderful assortment of fresh fruit, breads, and many other things; A swimming pool big enough to swim in! Beautiful views over Fayence, and the neighbouring countryside.

Review 30:Main restaurant could benefit from having less experimental desserts and offering classics of exceptional quality.

Review 31:Beautiful setting with stunning views, lovely large garden with pool, simple and pretty rooms, good restaurant and friendly efficient staff.

Review 32:Nothing to dislike, although some might have difficult with the steep, winding stairs.

Review 33:Excellent food, pretty rooms, good pool all in a charming rural setting with easy access to the town.

Review 34:food not very child friendly no attempt to offer tea or drinks or ice-cream around the pool not all waiters up to the task

Review 35:pool fantastic great food for adults pretty room, comfortable enough calm, pretty surroundings, relaxed easy to find

Review 36:the access to our room.

Review 37:the swimming pool was excellent and eating outdoors at the restaurant with friendly waiters and staff ,thelounge with the mill is unique.

Review 38:Our bedroom which was in the tower and up a spiral staircase with another staircase within the room to get to the beds. Unfortunately I had just had a hip replacement so it wasn't perfect for me.

Review 39:Ambience was wonderful with great views and lovely garden with lots of sitting room and a large pool. Food was excellent both breakfast and dinner. Very interesting sitting room with old mill stone and many antiques. Great Kir's too! Staff were always very attentive and helpful and willing to do whatever was asked.

Review 40:Can't think of anything. We locked our bikes to tree out in front as there was no garage but this was no problem.

Review 41:Great quiet location and very spacious too with a large sunny, yellow painted bathroom. Bathrobes were a nice touch; tub and shower combination were much-appreciated after a day if bicycling. The young receptionist was professional and also spoke English.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Fabulous atmosphere & great breakfast

Review 44:Smell from drain in bathroom Drinks in bar very expensive

Review 45:Fantastic Hotel steeped in historic features

Review 46:Accommodation was a little cramped and antiquated.

Review 47:Food excellent and well worth the diversion to get there. No meals available we'd/thursday

Review 48:Location suited us well on this occasion. Restaurant quite excellent and staff attention to match. We hope to return another day.

Review 49:the view from the room, restaurant and the pool-area.

Review 50:Main restaurant too stiff for our likings. Also the waiting staff was very young

Review 51:Beautiful gardens and amazing mill

Review 52:Excellent hotel, friendly staff and outstanding food. Will certainly book again

Review 53:Nothing.

Review 54:Great diner and breakfast. We came back for the food and an excellent white wine: the Camandoule reserve.

Review 55:Staff;setting;food

Review 56:Helpful staff and good food nice rooms and beautiful grounds

Review 57:This small hotel & restaurant has its own Roman aqueduct and C19th mill wheel & workings. What's not to like? The food is great too.

Review 58:Everything from the welcome the character of the building the calm setting and the fabulous food in the restaurant

Review 59:Leaving!

Review 60:The relaxed atmosphere.

Review 61:The ambience and helpful staff

Review 62:Food People Location

Review 63:Great food and super staff

Review 64:Restaurant Cheese Board Pool Area Setting and location

Review 65:Beautiful hotel ..... simple but comfortable. Lovely pool, stunning food.

Review 66:Nothing. Everything was very good.

Review 67:Ambiance

Review 68:Expensive breakfast

Review 69:Excellent pool, beautiful setting, delicious evening meal with attentive service

Review 70:Staff hard to find during day due to restricted times available.

Review 71:Great location near Fayence. Small hotel in historic mill with well maintained gardens.

Review 72:Maybe it coold have been two better chairs at the balcony at the rom Rostide.

Review 73:It was a quiet and peaceful hotel i nice surrondings. It was nice to have so good restarant at the hotel. We loved the pool witch was clean and calm. We will absolutelig recomend the hotel..

Review 74:We had an extraordinary week in Moulin de la Camandoule. There was nothing that could be better. Starting with a warm and personal welcome with check-in to the stunny and so nicely decorated perfect hotel room to the 100% perfect service and quality of the restaurant. Fantastic food accompanied by perfect wines for a more than valuable pricing. At all times in all areas the service was friendly, individual and professional - there is nothing that could be improved. Just perfect as it is ! We felt every second there, living the life of riley ;-)

Review 75:Because of the age of the building the sound-proofing wasn't very good so we had some disturbance from the room above.

Review 76:Beautiful location. The room was very comfortable and well equipped eg dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries.

Review 77:Excellent restaurant, both food and service. Delightful bedroom. Remarkable 19th century milling machinery still in situ, much of this is in working order. This is a fascinating feature of the three-level dining room and of the bar. The roman aqueduct, which brought water to power the mill remains largely intact. The mill ceased working in 1956 when the coldest winter ever recorded killed all the olive trees in the region, denying the mill of its livelihood. We would to come back!!!!!!!

Review 78:Warm welcome by friendly hosts. Very nice room and hotel environment. Good continental breakfast. Enclosed parking in front of the hotel (important in St. Tropez).

Review 79:A really nice hotel, atmosphere and surroundings are great, easy access to Gorges du Verdon as well (make sure you also eat at the restaurant, excellent food and great ambiance), very friendly and helpful staff (we forgot something behind and they were very kind and attentive when it came to arranging the shipment). Highly recommend!

Review 80:It was winter time, so heating was needed. First night I had to use aircon reverse to heat the room but secon night they put the central heating. Much better

Review 81:Location Comfort Kindness of staff

Review 82:The quirkiness of the hotel: a former olive mill, in fabulous surroundings. It has great character and an excellent restaurant and a wonderful lounge and bar - with an open fire in winter!

Review 83:When restaurant was closed (weds and thurs) difficult to find nice place to eat in fayence town which wasn't fully booked.

Review 84:Food was excellent in the restaurant. Lovely location for relaxing and easy access to other villages, coast and mountains if have access to car

Review 85:No lift - bit difficult with heavy cases, but staff very willing to help.

Review 86:Helpful staff, interesting building, good location, great breakfast, lovely terrace.

Review 87:The staff was excellent. Each one went beyond the call of duty, was friendly and made us feel welcome. Can't say enough good things about them. The food was awesome!

Review 88:Beautiful location and building. Friendly staff and excellent service and breakfast. Have eaten in many Michelin recommended restaurants in Provence and this is one of the finest

Review 89:Absolutely nothing. We came back within a few days.

Review 90:Very friendly staff, individually decorated rooms in an old mill, very good breakfast (buffet), gourmet restaurant, large pool. A place to relax in a beautiful surrounding.

Review 91:It was superb! It's a magical place, in beautiful surroundings. The rooms are very interesting and all different: we had a duplex room on two floors, lovingly furnished and with a circular staircase. All the other interior spaces are beautiful as well and very cozy. The staff was super-friendly and the food was exquisite! Wonderful pool, big enough for a good swim.

Review 92:Dark passage to the room.

Review 93:Fabulous dinners. Staff very helpful. Stephan is an excellent host.Beautiful setting and very close to the lovely village Fayence.

Review 94:No vegetarian options, however, the staff and kitchen were superb and especially cooked bespoke meals for me which were fantastic!!

Review 95:Beautiful old mill in beautiful surroundings. Great location for exploring many towns of Var. A great trip. Really loved it.

Review 96:Supplement to have cooked eggs with breakfast - this should be included in the breakfast price - very nice eggs but small portion and supplement over and above normal breakfast price did not seem justifed.

Review 97:Fantastic food in a beautiful setting both inside and out, lovely big pool in very nice gardens, simple and rustic rooms which were not overpriced.

Review 98:Because we had dreadful weather, we would have liked a bigger tv with more than one English speaking channel - but we probably wouldn't have noticed this if the weather had been better!

Review 99:Wonderful location, extremely attentive staff, excellent restaurant, amazing location - hotel is set in an ancient olive mill with all the old milling equipment preserved in the hotel. Totally relaxing place to stay.

Review 100:Service for dinner was slow. We noticed a couple left waiting for a long time for their cheese course. If it had been me, I would have left!

Review 101:Staff were all very friendly and relaxed which made our experience more enjoyable. Our room was quirky but had all the little things to enhance our stay - good towels, hairdryer, mirror (not always found in French hotels), wifi was easy to access from our room. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 102:Amazing hotel. There is nothing we could fault about it. The hotel itself is beautiful, the grounds are lovely, and the staff are wonderful, going above and beyond their duty to make you feel comfortable. The restaurant was really lovely, both the dishes and the service were well worth the money.

Review 103:I have the only wish for the owner - to build a small children'playground and the place will be just a perfect place :)

Review 104:One of the best hotels I have ever stayed!!! Fantastic location, peaceful nature around, cozy and comfortable chambre, sense of home, awesome territory with a spring and frogs night songs!!! Exellentbreakfasts and best in class dinner at the reastaurante with a Michelinstar. Old town Fayence from the window within the walking distance...The place has spirit for sure!!! We will come back for longer period

Review 105:Accommodations in France advertise on the Internet worldwide, and yetall the tv was French in this place. I think they should get bbc or cnnor other language programmes for their international guests.

Review 106:This was a lovely place to stay, and the food in the attached restaurantwas excellent.

Review 107:The only beef as small as it is, is that we were there for 4 nights and only recieved toiletries on our arrival?

Review 108:We pretty well loved the whole experience and will definitely return one day.

Review 109:The beds and the general furnishings need immediate updating. The matressses are tread bare, brown wood vanishing and dated carpets give an air of cheap 1980's renovation. Packet orange juice is just not good enough for a Provencal breakfast. This hotel could be really wonderful with a lick of the right colour paint, proper matresses, carpets and bathrooms.

Review 110:The location was lovely and the mill machinery in the public areas was very attractive but he place needs tasteful updating to match the quality of the food. Gardens a thorough going over.

Review 111:Hardly anything! Customers should note that the 'duplex' room while comfortable has very steep spiral stairs.

Review 112:The beautiful old mill building was very cosy on the damp March weekend when we stayed. Large bar and dining areas incorporate much of the old olive milling machinery as tasteful decoration. The pretty location just outside the village would have been even better in the sun! Fantastic breakfast with lovely fresh bread; dinners in the restaurant also good.

Review 113:I have been staying at the Camandoule several times a year during thelast six years; the staff is very competent and friendly, the roomscharming, the surroundings and atmosphere beautiful and relaxing - andthe food excellent.

Review 114:We loved everything about this old mill with an amazing property. We hadone bedroom suit (did not expect it:) it was one of the best night sleepI had in france while on my trip. Even my four legged man loved it.There was enough of ground to cover with his little nose. Just perfect. The only bad thing was that we did not come during the summer :) thereis wonderful pool.

Review 115:Nothing- except having to leave!!

Review 116:Excellent restaurant-best for miles around. Why no Michelin star? The welcome for regular clients.

Review 117:Great room -quiet and spacious Bathroom should have separate shower Service and quality of food and beverage outstanding

Review 118:The staff was very friendly and helpful . Very high quality of service at the restaurant. Beautiful location .

Review 119:Gorgeous location/surroundings. Perfect for going to the Gorge du Verdon. Lovely staff. Fabulous breakfast buffet.

Review 120:Very friendly staff and super service, greatly located in the nature with close proximity to Fayence, fantastic food (both dinner and breakfast)

Review 121:Beautiful tranquil setting. Very peaceful and a good opportunity to chill out
