Reviews for Gloria Palace Royal Hotel & Spa

Review 1:Noisy rooms (no carpets anywhere, multiple noisy live night shows). Really poor selection of drinks and foods at snack bars. All Inclusive option includes only the cheapest drinks and some food (not all). Unripe/inedible vegetables and fruits served at main restaurant. Some food may cause food poisoning. No double beds. Requests for a quiet room made in 3 months advance completely ignored. It took us half of stay to get a better/more quiet one. Avoid Block 4. Paid only access to PCs in the reception.

Review 2:Very nice swimming pool. Spacious rooms with a terrific view to the ocean. Good selection of food.

Review 3:Just above a quite busy road and windows of rooms very thin glazed; safe in room needs to be paid separately, this is prehistoric!

Review 4:Beautiful big infinity pool; breakfast and dinner buffet with a huge, fresh and tasty choice of about everything you could wish; very friendly and profesional staff ; good wifi everywhere; close to nice beach; much nicer location than any of the others on the south coast

Review 5:the food served in the restaurant, part of the all inclusive, is not great. It's not easy to cook for a lot of people, but it does not match the rest of the services of the hotel which are very good. not much local food, maybe because it is intended to please mostly their scandinavian customers?

Review 6:The staff of the hotel is very friendly, always helpful and nice. The facilities of the hotel are very convenient to use and it's a nice destination for a lazy vacation in the sun.

Review 7:Having stayed at the hotel previously and requested a room on a high floor, we were given a room on the lower floor with a Coca Cola machine outside the entrance which turned on and off all night,

Review 8:Location is excellent for mobile guests and all rooms are sea facing.Enjoyable walks to either side of the hotel by the sea and many restaurants on the beach.

Review 9:Beautiful setting with fabulous views, the whole experience of our stay was outstanding. The atmosphere, food, facilities, staff, all beyond expectations. Looking forward to our next visit.

Review 10:We paid for the all-inclusive and there were many things not included - crisps were extra when sat by the pool, but not in the bar- why? Some drinks were chargeable ( this is ok for premium brands) but 5 euros for a mojito was ridiculous where a vodka and coke was free . It felt like a rip off

Review 11:The view and location was excellent, the staff were friendly and the weather was great

Review 12:Tennis and sports facilities would make it perfect!

Review 13:Very relaxing experience. Very nice scenery and beach close by. Fantastic seaview from pool and all rooms.Strong wi-fi.

Review 14:Under staffed in some snack/eating areas resulted in slow service some days, also not all drinks all inclusive slightly irritating why bother?

Review 15:Lovely infinity pool with fabulous view children can use also, wonderful spa great service in all areas, all staff eager to go out of their way so you really enjoy a restful holiday ? Good variety of food.

Review 16:Lovely hotel. Two pool areas both lovely. Surrounding area also lovely. Nice walk to the beach, coming back quite a gradient so not good for less able, unfit etc.

Review 17:I felt that the evening entertainment was at times very bland I also think it needs to be refreshed, and cater for younger adults, evening entertainment could also be on a bit longer

Review 18:I love the view's, and the family rooms are superb, my grandaugher has been coming on holiday with us since she was a year old and wee absolutely love it, the hotel is immaculate and staff are always smiling and helpful. The food was good and pool area excellent, you are also next to Amadores Beach which is amazing, for me couldn't ask for much more, thank you. Ohh nearly forgot to mention the amazing cocktail bar and the best cocktail maker ever, Arron. Gracious Taaliah

Review 19:The fairly steep walk to and from the beach passed a sewage pumping station which was discreet to look at but sometimes rather smelly

Review 20:Comprehensive quick wi-fi that only needed a password once Brilliant infinity pool Big, shady, well-furnished balcony acted like an extension to the bedroom Staff who were always helpful and seemed genuinely friendly Wide choice of breakfast items (we were only B & B)

Review 21:Couple of negatives. Show room is a time wrap, feels like you are back in the 70's. Seen better acts on the Xfactor. Sun loungers by the 3 floor pool bit too close for comfort...........

Review 22:Wonderful hotel, with the best team of staff I have ever had the pleasure to be looked after by. Rooms spacious and clean. Food very good throughout our stay. Minimal if any repetitions throughout our week, as there were a couple of items I really wanted to eat again, and no such luck! And well done to the hotel for sticking to its principals of no reserving of sun beds early in the mornings. Spa water facilities were great.

Review 23:Only downside was the amount of ants in our suite, it started with just seeing the odd one which would probably be normal but on the last night there seemed to be a lot more.

Review 24:We loved every part of this hotel, great location, fantastic staff and gorgeous views. It was totally relaxing which is just what we wanted and would definitely stay here again.

Review 25:Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us.. Very clean professional felt like royalty as we we're treated like royalty look forward to coming back next year

Review 26:We loved it!

Review 27:The location is amazing! The view from the hotel is stunning. The infinity pool was beautiful. I lost count of how many photos I took. The staff could not do enough to help and were exceptionally polite and friendly. The rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard. Access to the beach and local area was easy either walking or by taxi whichever you prefer. My husband and I stayed over the bank holiday weekend at the end of August (for 4 nights) for his 50th birthday. We enjoyed every minute and would love to go again!!

Review 28:Dinner is buffet style but ok, didn't try the Al a carte restaurant though

Review 29:Excellent hotel with lovely and helpful staff, very clean and organised, room was great with a balcony overlooking the beach, couldn't have asked for more

Review 30:The dinner could have had more choice, the breakfast and lunch was 10/10 the dinner I'd give 8/10 still lovely but not enough choice for main course.. We always enjoyed the lunch more.

Review 31:Staff were so friendly and professional. We went All inclusive the choice at the buffet was amazing food was gorgeous. The infinity pool was beautiful, we spent alot of time upstairs at the top pool as in was quieter and more relaxing. The wellness centre was beautiful and the man made beach in front of the hotel was stunning. Will definitely return to stay here.

Review 32:- very nice room with gorgeous view. - the terrace is wonderful - the staff are very helpful and polite. - easy to reach to the beach. - many good restaurants nearby

Review 33:swimming pool with chemicals lots of retirees

Review 34:not as 'package' as size/location implies fantastic views good swimming pool & sunbathing area very clean got a free room upgrade generally pleasantly surprised with the experience

Review 35:there was noise from streets below coming mostly from the buses going a steep road and noise from the pool motors and unfortunately my room was kinda hidden behind the main pool while it did meet my requirements there was not much of a view or even light for that matter and as i informed the only possible alternative was to upgrade to a junior suite for a significant amount of money Also bear in my mind that this hotel is more like a resort for families or people of a certain age located in amadores not puerto rico

Review 36:breakfast buffet was massive and the floor manager of the lounge was an absolute professional, kind and most welcoming attending to each of the guests individually and making sure they have the best possible experience during their stay the pools where also really great as well clean and with a breathtaking view especially in the main one you felt like swimming among the stars at night

Review 37:This was our third time staying at the GPR and it was fantastic. We had our young daughter with us and our parents. The hotel is top class and the food is superb. The staff are very friendly and very accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 38:Very, very little direct sun on most of the balconies, so one is forced to use the public areas for sunbathing purposes. The beach below, although optically stunning, is "fake": apparently made of crushed stone, it is rather painful to walk on with bare feet.

Review 39:Breakfast was outstanding. Very nice personnel ... everyone, even the maids, always greet you with an "Ola".

Review 40:The biggest drawback is noise, as the hotel is located on a hill above the main road, Block 4 is especially noisy with 3 roads crossing just below. You don'thear much notice it at all during the day, but at night I slept with earplugs, as you can hear cars even with the balcony doors closed.

Review 41:The hotel is beautifully designed, rooms are spacious and comfortable, most have a wonderful panoramic ocean view. Outstanding variety and quality of food at breakfast and dinner, very good service. The staff is helpful and efficient. The white sandy beach is one of the best in the island with many beach shops and good restaurants. The spa is really good too. There is not much around, Amadores is really a small beach place, it is fine for a relaxed beach-hotel holiday, a car is helpful if you wish to see places or have some variety in the evenings other than the hotel evening shows.

Review 42:The major issue of the hotel is the noisy road that passes right underneath it. If you are a light sleeper you will have trouble catching a nap in the afternoon and you will probably wake up around 7:30 am, when the traffic starts to pick up. Double glazed windows might have solved the issue...We stayed in the corner room of Block 4 (4512) which although was on the top floor, only had limited sea view as it mostly overlooks the hill opposite the hotel. Didn't ask for a different room though, as this one was conveniently placed next to the lift that led to the parking lot. Also, we would expect separate shampoo and shower gel from a 4* hotel. WiFi was pretty poor.

Review 43:Room was very spacious and extremely clean. Location was good for access to the Amadores beach (5 min walk), where you can find lots of shops and restaurants. There is also a convenient small supermarket right across the road. Staff was always polite and helpful. Breakfast had very good variety, although not the tastiest we've ever had. Parking was good on weekdays and off peak weekends.

Review 44:No. I think it's perfect and valued.

Review 45:It has a wonderful lobby that can clear see the beach and pool, nice sun shining and nice view. It has a very quite and nice SPA place, that when you do SPA there, your feeling is so nice. very good and warm staff, good control in safe and cleansing, and one of the reception he can speak Chinese, they will offer you ice drink when you que for check-in. Good resteruant, very various food choice, for self service dinner and breakfast. the sea food will always change to new. Nice room with good see sight view, that can see the sun set. At all, the price for this service is reasonable and valued! If you want to have a absolutely easy life vocation, you should be there!

Review 46:Despite notices prohibiting the reserving of sunbeds with towels etc it happened every morning and was not policed! To be fair, the large number of sunbeds meant there was never a problem getting one but the best locations were taken. The quality of the music played after the shows each evening was appalling. Totally unsuitable for the age profile of the guests. Comments about this and requests to change were ignored by the young entertainment guys. Wi Fi reception was patchy .

Review 47:The location with every room having a sea view over the lovely Amadores beach. Excellent choice of food with the freshest of ingredients. Super efficient waiting and bar staff

Review 48:The hotel is very noisy early in the morning. From about 7am there are trolleys going back and forth along the tiled corridor outside the room - very noisy. The bar in the reception area is rather impersonal and the hotel would benefit from a more pleasant bar. There is also a lack of a nice shaded area outside on a balcony if you just want to sit down and read a book or enjoy the view - plenty of sun loungers, but not much in the way of seating. I thought the room rate was rather high for the standard of hotel.

Review 49:The location is great with lovely views over Amadores Bay. Breakfast buffet is very good but also very busy so a bit of a scrum.

Review 50:Very little - we were in the last block of apartments (Block 4) at the end of the corridor though, so we had more of a view of the road than the beach and the traffic was more audible. The hotel should also consider getting door stops so that the doors to the stairs don't bang when they swing shut. Very minor complaints though - it's a great place!

Review 51:The food, convenience, balcony view.

Review 52:Maybe wifi a bit iffy.

Review 53:The staff are fabulous friendly and tolerant. The kids in Animations are particularly friendly and marvellous with both kids and adults. Can't wait for next visit.

Review 54:poor air conditioning inadequate soundproofing from balcony doors lack of availability of sunbeds at both pools

Review 55:friendliness of staff restaurant and food choice location service in restaurant cleanliness of room

Review 56:Having to get up at 6am with a remote chance of getting a sunbed round the pool

Review 57:The views are amazing, from your balcony, restaurant, pools everywhere.

Review 58:Lack of ironing facilities No ice machine on each floor Reception staff not as helpful as could be Don't recognise return visitors

Review 59:Views from balcony Pool area Staff in dining room for breakfast

Review 60:Junior trainee reception staff Did nt know some information but left us hanging without trying to resolve the problem. Senior staff much more efficient

Review 61:Everything especially the infinity pool

Review 62:The only problem was the wifi not working at some points, but wasn't a big problem, we enjoyed our stay at Gloria Palace a lot !

Review 63:Staff was so friendly and very helpful, The pool was amazing, didn't want to go to the beach because of the great pool, the view was amazing, location was great, We will definetly come back again to the same hotel, and recommend to others.

Review 64:Bad traffic noise all night and trucks coming early in the morning. Dining area and waiters should be more sympathetic to solo diners. Walking alone past 100 or more people to the table is absurd.

Review 65:Pools, bars, staff, shopping, ferry trip

Review 66:air con not working while we were there it was so warm so we didn't sleep very well at night and there was no air con in the entertainment area. {a lot of guests complained to the management about this and we should have been compensated in some way for this } on the first morning when we went down for breakfast the waiter gave out to us because we got a glass of juice before we sat down- and another evening while i was getting my dinner the person in front of me let the spoon fall that u use to get your food with on my clothes and the chief just came around pushed me aside and picked the spoon up never even said excuse me i was shocked at this. The bar service is very bad your better off going to the bar yourself -and there was a lot of arguing on going with the bar staff in front of guests -not very professional !

Review 67:loved the location and the views had a great room

Review 68:Wifi in room was weak, but fine in the lobby.

Review 69:Hotel was beautiful, one of the best I've stayed it. Rooms were spacious and clean and staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.

Review 70:Beautiful hotel, marvelous location, great and comfortable facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Great SPA facilities. Delicious food. Great entertainment. Everything top quality!

Review 71:Amadores beach is man made, poor. The water was grimey in afternoon as no great waves to clear oils from swimmers. Did not like the "harassment" from restaurant staff on beach front to dine in their restaurant (likewise Puerto Rico)

Review 72:Excellent hotel, water facilities (sauna, steam, jets) Great food, cleanliness, night shows, friendly staff

Review 73:The hotel needs to address the annoying practise of towels on sun beds at dawn, especially when they remain unused for most of the day. The evening entertainment in the show bar could be of a much higher standard, this facility should be used to much greater effect.

Review 74:The location of this hotel is superb with great views across the bay from every room. It's a bit of a climb up from the beach but not excessive. The infinity pool is really good and there are plenty of new sun beds. The food is generally very good although a little more variation would have been welcome.

Review 75:The area is lacking in choice for night time entertainment and we found ourselves getting taxis to nerve by peurto rico most nights (approx 4 euro each way). We had a few questions regarding trips and buses etc and we found many of the reception staff very unsure of answers...could do with dedicated and experienced concierge

Review 76:Beautiful hotel in a lovely but quiet location. Good restaurants available locally. The Beach Club and the Messaab Indian in particular were excellent & within walking distance. Hotel facilities were excellent and hotel was exceptionally clean. Very good breakfast selection.

Review 77:When you need to plan a trip, it is better to plan by yourself because the reception is not well prepared (except one lady in the evening shift - couldn't remember her name). The brochures were enough to get some ideas.

Review 78:Location, room, and view from the balcony we liked most. We had half board and the food was really good. Staff were always so polite and friendly in the restaurant. The sauna part was also lovely.

Review 79:Need to upgrade the beds to a 4* standard. Need to upgrade tv channels, we only had one English channel that had signal sometimes.

Review 80:Location and views were amazing, proximity to Puerto Rico was great, lovely walk along the cliff 20mins or 3 mins in a taxi for €3.50. Hotel is very clean, and well maintained, lots of staff to answer questions. Most rooms are very big and have large balconys. Wifi great.

Review 81:Air conditioning in the rooms - rather poor. Front desk -nowhere as friendly and helpful as previous time.

Review 82:Location, choice of food, evening entertainment

Review 83:Far from the beach not 5 minutes; if you are coming with kids you can visit SPA only 1 hour per day ( from 11 to 12), as in other time entranse for kids prohibited- very strange rule ; reception ladies not so polite ( mens on reception much kind with visitors)

Review 84:Food nice, staff in restaurants very professional and open, view from room - perfect, animation for kids very nice

Review 85:Poor choices for food for some nights in a week ( strange meats & fishs), very poor wifi in our room, beds were not very comfortable

Review 86:Great view over the beach, pool, spa and jacouzy , Breakfast, aqua & other activities for staying in hotel, night shows

Review 87:Men had to wear trousers for dinner.

Review 88:The infinity pool, the food at all times, the staff, the rooms are huge, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the location.

Review 89:Men absolutely must wear long trousers for dinner. You may wear flip-flops, dirty t-shirt, and have never heard of pedicure, but it appears to be OK as long as your trousers (or jeans, for that matter) are long enough. Otherwise, you'll be shown door at the restaurant. The personnel made their best to smooth over the situation though, much kudos to them. Internet, albeit free, is close to non-existent. You'll be able to check your mail (and patience) or open a couple of lightweight sites, but that's all. If you need a decent connection to, say, plan your trips, consider buying a prepaid SIM card.

Review 90:Large rooms and balconies, nice sea view. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The beach is one of the best on the island. Lots of amenities. No problem finding a parking place nearby (except on the weekends).

Review 91:We have just returned after a two week stay and have had a wonderfultime. Top of the list are the staff without doubt! Nothing was ever toomuch trouble and every member of staff with a smile on their face allthe time. We were greeted by Kayleigh who checked us in and gave us aglass of champagne. Our cases were taken to our room by the bellboy, very nice man. The reception staff are lovely and most helpful withanything you need. Thanks to Miguel (Uncle Fred), Jose, Kayleigh andeveryone else. The food is amazing with everything you could want andmore. The chef is there everyday cooking to your taste. The restaurantstaff greet you and take you to your table and like magic the table islaid, drinks order taken, chairs pulled out for you and between coursesanother clean set of utensils. Wine poured for you as they realise youare running low. Special thanks to Heriberto, Jessie, Yerray, AntonioCarlos, Ischmael, Victor and so many more whose names we didnt get.Thank you all. We had two meals in the Kaia restaurant, one for ourwedding anniversary and the other for my birthday. It was a tasteextravaganza!! The staff there, Jose, Janira, Victor, Ischmael and chefJacobo were truly amazing. A special table was laid both times withflowers, candles, balloons, hearts, a birthday card, music and muchmore. The table was even roped off for us. The food was just incredibleand an ambience we have never experienced before. Our room had abeautiful sea view and of Amadores beach. Fabulous. Our room was cleaneddaily and was of a very high standard. The housekeepers were lovely too.The snack bar was also great and we enjoyed our food there too. Onceagain the staff working hard every minute. The entertainment was of agood standard and something for everyone though it could have gone on alittle longer. The infinity pool is incredible and the animacion teamworked hard to involve people to enjoy activitie throughout the day.

Review 92:More food options for children. Child play area needs a little updating. My child caught his fingers twice in the gate. Apart from that little gripe my wife has already asked when can we go back.

Review 93:There was plenty of deck chairs and not a problem getting a place by the pool. No towel wars either, with a kid we didn't get to breakfast till after 9 and we still got a place by the toddlers pool. We stayed the last week in June and first week in July. Might be different at other times of the year. Reception, waiters and cleaners were always happy to help with any requests. Food was very good also. Tina club for kids is very good my boy loved it, keep in mind it's your responsibility to keep an eye on your kid, the staff there are very friendly and even made a peppa pig tee shirt and going away picture on our last day. Laundry is expensive but we found a place in porta Rico shopping centre (in the basement) that was very cheap. We upgraded to all inclusive which was a plus and well worth it. Go you will not regret it.

Review 94:wifi didnt work sometimes in terrace.

Review 95:great location, clean and big rooms, excellent sea view from balcony and friendly staff.we took half board, specially sea food was very taste. i am really recommend this hotel,if we will return again to las palmas we will stay at this hotel!
