Reviews for Casa Rural Mailan
Review 1:Absolutely nothing
Review 2:Every aspect was exceptional. Standard of our accommodation exceeded that of many top class hotels we have stayed in. Owner and staff SO friendly and helpful. The Basque people in the town were a breath of fresh air. Must go again for longer. If you struggle to find it (wouldn't come up on our satnav), if you get to the train station you are virtually there.
Review 3:The house is just tucked in off the road.
Review 4:The house was wonderful and charming , very clean and comfortable. Our hostess was warm and friendly and the waitress had perfect English and became our guide for our 5 day stay !
Review 5:From the moment I arrived I knew I had made the right choice. Anna's smile made me feel so welcome. Esti's home is beautiful and she made sure I had everything I needed. My room with a balcony was perfect. Libana speaks English and advised me what to do in the area. I appreciate her help in booking the bus to the airport. Esti went out of her way to take me to the bus stop in Zarautz. My stay could not have been better.
Review 6:We have no complaints
Review 7:This is a lovely quiet and beautifully decorated home with large rooms and which caters for English speakers. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way toake us feel at home.
Review 8:Everything . The house is beautiful and very friendly staff. Good location could not fault anything. Perfect location to explore the surrounding area.
Review 9:Lovely small B&B, the large room at the front is well worth the little extra cost. Good breakfast, nice people very helpful. Good position near to railway for connection to San Sebastián.
Review 10:Beautiful interior of the house; large, well decorated comfortable room; good location to reach wonderful coastal towns and beaches, San Sebastian and many other attractions; great breakfast; free parking; wonderful, friendly hostess and staff. Highly recommended.
Review 11:The electricity supply seemed to be under some strain. We were told not to use the air conditioner for heating because other electrical fittings would not work at the same time.
Review 12:We stayed in the downstairs apartment which is a large space that appears to have been converted for a disabled person. It was ideal for self catering.
Review 13:Couldn't fault anything about Casa Rural Mailan just wish we could speak spanish so we could have expressed our comments at the time of our visit (we just have enough words to get by and be as polite as possible at all times). Overall if we were to visit Orio again we would definitley stay at the Casea Rural Mailan.

Review 15:The basement apartment we had for 7 nights was great. Two bathrooms, plenty of space and serviced daily. Well equipped kitchen and good Wi Fi. We were driving a rented car and Orio is well positioned for a day trip to San Sebastián, Bilbao and Pamplona with easy off street parking when coming back. Specially recommend the narrow sealed country road to San S. Along which the camino people walk. Fantastic views of the Atlantic on one side and the mountains on the other side.
Review 16:Nothing!
Review 17:Beautiful house close to railway station and a short walk over the river to bars and restaurants. Original art throughout enhances the already first class decor. Good breakfast.
Review 18:Had difficulty finding the property even with Sat Nav. Although we asked directions from many sources people didn't know of the property even in the nearby town. Eventually found one (local policewoman) who was excellent and directed us straight to it. Maybe this aspect could be looked at to improve location details.
Review 19:Straight forward arrangements. Breakfast was good and sufficient for our needs. Host telephoned us to try and help in directing us to the property. Room was excellent in all aspects
Review 20:Beds are a bit firm for our liking
Review 21:Excellent location with the rail station just 3 minutes away. Ideal for travel by train to San Sebastian and by car to explore the coast.
Review 22:We would have liked tea & coffee-making facilities in our room, though we recognise that this is uncommon in some countries.
Review 23:Very friendly and helpful staff; Lovely, large room with comfortable beds and armchairs; Beautiful en-suite with shower; Proximity to quick rail links; Plenty of restaurant choices; Beautiful countryside and easy driving.
Review 24:No wardrobe for hanging clothes. No air conditioning. Overpriced.
Review 25:Good location in a not so touristy village with friendly locals. Large bathroom. Big comfy bed and it was quiet.
Review 26:The owner was incredibly kind. Her home is beautiful. We stayed in the apartment as 2 couples. The housekeeper kindly changed the extra bed to a double when she realized we were 2 couples staying. We did not even have to ask. The apartment was well equiped! A wonderful oasis to come back to after exploring. One night we picked up dinner at mercado and ate in. A great option to have available. The train station is easy walking distance. We drive to San Sebastián which was an easy 20 minutes and plenty of parking garages in good location. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
Review 27:Nothing. 10 out of 10!

Review 48:staff support, room comfort and room design. Great hotel!
Review 49:A great location for us, quiet but close to the motorway, as we were travelling from southern Spain to France. We had a large, comfortable room with a great bathroom and shower. Casa Mailan is close to the old centre of Orio, which is well-preserved and worth a visit. We found some good tapas and restaurants for an evening meal. All in all, very good value and a great alternative to staying in nearby San Sebastian; we wished we could have spent a little more time here but were just passing through.
Review 50:We stayed one night, after getting off the ferry at Santander on way to SW France. Estibule spoke litte English and us no Basque but helped by I pad !, Estibule not only booked us in at a local restaurant but took us there ! the restaurant owner brought us back - all free - so had a few drinks Easy to find - only 50 yards from roundabout and parking in front of house
Review 51:Would have liked to have coffee/tea-making facilities in room.
Review 52:Exceptionally clean. Lovely bedrooms. Great garden/breakfast room and nice breakfast. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Train station right there if needed. Would definitely use again.
Review 53:Nothing, really. The sound can travel easily if you're staying near the front door on the way to the breakfast room.
Review 54:Lovely spot, convenient for the town and other things nearby, and very friendly. Parking is easy. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 55:Cala Mailan is a beautiful house very well located next to the railway station and a short stroll to the centre of Orio where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and spotless. Private parking is a welcome bonus. The original art throughout the house is another plus point.
Review 56:Nothing.
Review 57:Enthusiastic welcome, nothing was too much trouble. We were told about the train service to San Sebastian, and we used it twice..Very convenient. Beautiful room with balcony. Good breakfast.
Review 58:No soundproofing in rooms so a little noisy when everyone moving around on wooden floors.
Review 59:Well located by train line with good services to all of the region. Pleasant and friendly host with lots of knowledge of the area and planty of maps
Review 60:Absolutely nothing.
Review 61:The room was large and comfortable and made to feel homely with superb antique furniture. The location was very handy for the railway station just around the corner. Breakfast was good but the highest special praise must go to the owner who made our stay even better by helping us plan our activities and offered advice in her own inimitable style. A wonderful guest house.
Review 62:Location is excellent - in 5 minutes, you can be in the town, with it's bars and restaurants. The station is literally just around the corner for the rail link from Bilbao to San Sebastian. Nothing is too much trouble for her guests - Estibaliz is a lovely lady, and great host!
Review 63:This place is just charming, especially if you like art and antiques, and it's very clean! The hostess (note: very limited English, butcommunication was fine) is absolutely committed to her guests'comfort and really went out of her way for us.It is stated on the booking.com listing, but be aware that some rooms do not have air conditioning (our lovely, large room did not, but there is a nice balcony). If that's important to you, be sure to specify when you book. Getting there: our GPS steered us a little wrong. After the train station immediately turn right off the round-about, and just continue straight for about 300 meters -- you'll literally run right into the place if you don't stop (and there is a large sign). Also, historic Orio, just a 5 minute walk from the hotel is well worth a visit, especially on a Sunday. Go to the church in the middle of town and listen to the beautiful new organ during and after the Mass - it's a real treat.
Review 64:Acoustics. Not very good isolation within the house.
Review 65:Orio is a beautiful village/town on the river. The house is very near to the euskotren, and you can easily go to Zarauz, San Sebastian , etc. nice rustic decor and a very friendly owner. Recommended.
Review 66:Nothing it was all great
Review 67:Friendly owner made us feel very welcome. Room was terrific with lots of space and comfortable. Location was great close to railway station with regular trains to San Sebastian meaning we didn't need to worry about driving into the city.
Review 68:Wonderful small guest house on the outskirts of Orio, which is a beautiful small town on the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostela. Immaculately appointed, lovely atmosphere and extremely welcoming owner. Highly recommended.
Review 69:Property was excellent however owners recommendation to fish restaurant was one of the most expensive meals we had in Spain.
