Reviews for Santa Claus Holiday Village

Review 1:It's a bit hard to visit the city centre. Bus is not as frequent as we would hope.

Review 2:Everything is in the village, you don't really need to go out. Staff is really excellent to help you in many ways. Very friendly.

Review 3:The staff at reception weren't very friendly or helpful, particularly the male manager. My luggage arrived on a later flight due to a short connection in Helsinki. Finnair delivered the suitcase 5 hours later to reception but no one delivered it to my cabin or even told me it had arrived. I stayed up until midnight waiting for my suitcase and spent the entire next morning on the phone with Finnair trying to work out where it was. I had to go to reception and ask them if they had received a suitcase and low and behold there it was. The manager admitted the staff had made a mistake but did not apologise. I did not feel very welcome in general because of the attitude of the staff and management. This sort of ruined the merriment we should have experienced, particularly when holidaying in such an amazing and magical destination as Lapland. Additionally, there is not much choice for dinner if you don't have a car. It's either pay €45 each for dinner at the restaurant on site or go to the service station across the road and get a pizza.

Review 4:Some of the cabins have been renovated - ours was and it was great! The reindeer safari we booked through the hotel was fantastic. Free airport transfers make life a little easier.

Review 5:The tour to the zoo was very expensive. I had a higher expectation reading throug the brochure. It did not impressed me at all.

Review 6:All the activities and shops are at walking distance. You can book tours at the lobby. You are surrender by snow.

Review 7:The village was wonderful, albeit external activities tend to be very expensive.

Review 8:Christmasy, wintry atmosphere. Good food in the cafeteria, comfy cabin. Incredible for young kids to walk outdoors and ride in the sled to breakfast, make snowmen, etc.

Review 9:The road was very poor to drive trolleys and baggages. If you use a slider it would be better to move things.

Review 10:A cottage was perfect with facilities even in-door sauna. It provides an enough kitchen to cook foods. The environment surround cottages was fantastic to enjoy Rovaniemi.

Review 11:The only thing i would say i didn't like was having to pay 18 euros to go into the ice bar to have a drink. I can understand when the kids are playing all day its good value, but if the parents just want a drink in the ice bar 18 euro is too much to pay on top of drinks. Also the lack of choice of restaurants open in the evening.

Review 12:We loved the cabins, they were clean, comfortable and warm. The resort had plenty to do for adults and kids. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 13:The kitchenette was a little small for any serious cooking.

Review 14:There was airport shuttle service that ferries our luggages into our chalet, which was wonderful in the snowy winter wonderland. And in fact they picked up our luggages during check out, while we were having breakfast and reminded us it's time for our flight --- that's good service. The breakfast and dinner which were included in our booking were scrumptious.

Review 15:Nothing. Everything was perfect. Can't wait to come back.

Review 16:Started with a prompt pick-up at the airport, dropped off right inside the cottage even before we checked in. Very friendly and attentive staff. Avalaibility of fun activities within the village (reindeer, Husky, Snowman world, Snow mobile, etc) and while they are providing the booking arrangement for these activities, they don't try to "sell" them to you. Felt really comfortable, we ended up booking all possible activities and ended up with 3 packed days of fun. Breakfast and dinner were included. Very good deal and convenient. The Gingerbread club for kids was fun for my son. Sauna in the bathroom was really helpful. Turn it on with one button (no setting issues), wait for it to warm up while you shower, then get in. Shower after Sauna and you're ready to relax in your room. Kitchen with 2 stove, pans, plates, cups, cutlery. Dining table with water boiler, coffee maker and supplies of tea bags and sugars. Plenty of snow and kids were making Snowman in front of our cottage and sledding in nearby small hill.

Review 17:The holiday village is beautifully located next to a forest and only 100m away from St Claus village. Accommodation is elegantly designed, cosy, immaculately clean. Staff were smiling and helpful, breakfast was delicious. Plenty of entertainment opportunities are nearby, including reindeer and husky rides.

Review 18:Restaurants and shops closes very early. I suggest that they send a list of clothing required especially foot wear needed for all families upon booking so injuries will be prevented. Our case is my aunt had to do a surgery cause she twisted her ankle on ice cause we used snow boots and we needed base with grips that attaches with straps to the snow boots. (IF WE KNEW THIS FROM THE BEGINNING WE SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED OUR INJURY)

Review 19:The village is picturesque

Review 20:the staff are so nice and helpful, we are extend 1more night and leaving very earlier morning and surprise that they prepare they breakfast box for us.

Review 21:wifi connection can improve. Oct is slack season in Finnland. Not much activities in the village

Review 22:Nicely decorated room, good location. Free hotel shuttle. Friendly staff. Discount given in shops

Review 23:The cabin was lovely, warm and clean. We especially enjoyed the private sauna. All the staff were amazing and very helpful. Free transfer from and to the airport. Great location and easy access to Rovaniemi (bus no 8 from the Village).

Review 24:We liked everything about this place. It is relaxing and even though we didn't have snow, it is still a place to enjoy. My teenager boy was really happy.

Review 25:Reason was to visit Santa Claus's Village and be in the Arctic Circle. This was achieved. Stayed for two days, so able to visit Rovaniemi. Nice place, excellent shopping centres. Area around very nice (had a car). Found the cabin very quaint and romantic. Was fall, so leaves were changing, very pretty. Room was large and nice with kitchenette. Breakfast excellent, staff pleasant and helpful. Recommend stay here, if in vicinity.

Review 26:Infrequent shuttle bus to Rovaniemi town

Review 27:A very fantastic village with comfortable cottage, great sauna and quite well small kitchen! Very nice and helpful staff, and also the breakfast is good!

Review 28:the bus to city/airport operates in 1 hour interval. A bit long if you don't have a car.

Review 29:PRIVATE SAUNA is number ONE, Also,,,, the environment the staffs the location (next to santa claus)

Review 30:In the main tourist season this place would be very crowded.

Review 31:We saw the northern night both nights we stayed there. We were at the hotel in the off season, so it wasn't too touristy. The rooms are nice size and comfortable.

Review 32:Nothing...

Review 33:The village has everything you need and more and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We made friends... loved every minute of our stay.

Review 34:The staff, the facilities and the little cottage with own sauna made my mini break all just perfect. The staff were kind, always available to assist, friendly and knowledgeable. My cottage was warm, the sauna was fab and the amenities in the room were very clean and comfortable - and of course Christmas themed!

Review 35:I think you need to run a shuttle into Rovenemi as we felt very isolated given we did not have a car. I also think you need to work on the menu in the restaurant as it was limited and a bit over priced.

Review 36:The Staff were excellent and particularly helpful. We did a Trip to the Zoo as well a bit of fishing which in Summer was probably more of a highlight than the Santa village in summer.

Review 37:not so many choices of restaurants around this area - only 1 in the village and 2 in the gas stations opposite to the road.

Review 38:Quiet area, but still found shops around - Marimekko outlet, iittala outlet, souvenir shop, etc. Spacious room equipped with in-house sauna facilities! Free pick-up from airport Enjoyed Santa Claus post office experience

Review 39:Many bus stops are very confusing. We lost the bus because we misunderstanded the stops we take the bus.

Review 40:Quiet. Cosy. Feels like in the fairy tale. The staffs are very kind, friendly and Santa was very fantastic! The dinner is soso but breakfast was really good.

Review 41:Breakfast quality poor and little varity.

Review 42:Cosy room without being small. Nice to stay. Nice staff. Even though commercial surrounding and very busy, no sound from outside in room.

Review 43:Food in restaurant was very disappointing. Expensive, small portion, and plain taste. We had to order double main course but still felt hungry afterwards. The breakfast bag was in poor quality.

Review 44:Staff

Review 45:Not much but except they could think about having a small grocery market at the village. Not every visit has a car and for the ones who like to cook their own meals, it was difficult to get groceries for cooking.

Review 46:The entire cottage facility was awesome! I can see myself returning again. The bed is very comfy. The décor of the interior made it feel like a home and wanted to stay for more days. Breakfast was awesome, simple and delicious. Friendly staff is always available to help with anything and everything.

Review 47:Breakfast was very bad! During your stay I would recommend also not to go to their restaurant in the evening and choose one in town instead.

Review 48:If you are up to see Santa Clause as well as the Santa Clause Park this is the place to stay. During winter with snow you children will love it! I would suggest not to go there with your kids during summer.

Review 49:Dinner was quite average for the price. Avoid it, if possible.

Review 50:Location is perfect and staff was quite nice and friendly. There was a pick up and drop from the airport and we were taken directly to the room. We could chekin at leisure.

Review 51:The christmas music during the whole day, even ist was summer....

Review 52:The staff has been very friendly, the cottage was absolutely clean and comfortable. We really felt like being at home.

Review 53:1. wifi connection does not work sometimes; 2. Two santas (one in the village, one in the holiday viliage - hotel), causing confusion for children.

Review 54:everything is ideal except for the two things mentioned on the right.

Review 55:Wonderful cottage, clean and comfortable! Great view and so convenient to visit the Santa Claus park. The Staff are very nice and friendly! Excellent value! Will definitely come visit again!

Review 56:Very nice cottages with its own saunas, located in Santa Clause village close to attractions located there. Breakfast was OK. They even picked us up on the airport.

Review 57:Two staff members at the reception were smelling so much of sigarette smoke that it was difficult to stay at at a reasonable distance when talking to them. We had to wait 15 minutes in the queue at the reception before someone noticed that we were waiting (someone then came and opened another counter).

Review 58:The cottage was squeeky clean and modern, very comfortable.

Review 59:No bad experiences

Review 60:The cottage was spacious, very clean, confortable, quiet, in very good shape (being quite new), with sauna working perfectly. Being in the Santa Claus Village it is very near to all the touristic facilities there, on the other side you cannot expect a great view. Also only a few minutes from the airport.

Review 61:1. No ice. Come on...have ONE ice machine in the whole building. Hotels are about visitors, mostly from other countries and catering to their needs. 2. The windows need screens!!! Stifling hot but you can't open the windows because of the mosquitoes y.

Review 62:Very Spacious

Review 63:Only the diner was verry expesensive for the things you get.

Review 64:The cabin was verry nice and clean. The breakfast was verry good. Lots of choices. We liked the cabin verry much.

Review 65:You have to come in winter. There is no activity in summer.

Review 66:The room with sauna and kitchen is perfect! The bed is so comfortable and the style is so Christmas!

Review 67:In summer, the activities are very limited. Even the zoo is closed till June. Not much to do in Santa Claus Village except shopping. Town area also few shops open. However, you could try out the summer activities.

Review 68:Self contained, shops at Santa Claus Village next door, very friendly and helpful staff. Cozy cottage, huge bath room with sauna attached! Very near airport. Not many summer activities in May but we did the Mid-night Sun trekking and it was great! This place will be magical in winter.

Review 69:I would have been nice if their had been more out of season activities as i found it diificult to entertain my son at this time of year. After all it is Santa's home all year round.

Review 70:Loved the cabin and breakfast was yummy.

Review 71:The private sauna in our room was not hot enough.

Review 72:We stayed at off season and guests were not so many. All the staff in the village were friendly. The village is close to the airport of Rovaniemi and the city centre, which took us only few minutes and 15 minutes drive respectively.

Review 73:Nothing

Review 74:Every apartment has its own sauna. It is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Everything was prepared for our Baby grandson and the breakfast buffet was good. A lot of fun things to do.

Review 75:I didn't find anything.

Review 76:The staffs are friendly and flexible. They picked me up at the airport though I asked to do so four hours before. They are kind enough to plan my check out time from my flight schedule and off course they picked my up at my room. All staffs including restaurant are friendly and well experienced. I really like this hotel and come back again with my family and friends.

Review 77:The restaurant in the main building was just OK, and after exploring I decided to avoid most of the shopping area and burger bars, including the music blasting out. That was not for me.

Review 78:The room was excellent, and the staff very helpful with activity bookings. The Kota restaurant was fantastic; and I loved my sauna.

Review 79:Not much to do in the evening.

Review 80:Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is not as commercial as the compound next door. Easy access by public buses. Free visit to the compound. Nice sauna inside the cabin. Free shuttle to the airport.

Review 81:Not the best season, after 17:00 you have nothing to do at all!!! While all is melting, they dont clean the way to the main building at all. Food is very traditional and I would say a very poor choice. Room cleaning for an extra charge only, more than this you have to take care of the gabbage!

Review 82:Stuff was very helpful, location is good

Review 83:The treatment of staff, Inga, Marko, Laura, and excursions offered by the hotel itself Alec our favorite guide. They helped us in everything we facilitated the language and looked after us as we arrived at the hotel after knowing that we are expecting a baby. The excellent food, the situation, the landscapes, all wonderful, back for sure.

Review 84:Nothing.

Review 85:Fairy-like cabin, the best choice under the theme of Santa. I actually have stayed there twice, once in summer and once in winter. Both experiences were amazing. Got totally relaxed with private sauna. Nice staff, great wifi connection, cooking equipments, various activities.

Review 86:We stayed this place on early April, so santa claus village seems a little bit desolate and doesn't have much atmosphere, many restaurants closed...Anyway, it was not a problem for hotel itself.

Review 87:Very comfort cottages, I really like the sauna.

Review 88:Not much choice for meals after 16:00 except the main restaurant next to the reception.

Review 89:We stay here for Easter but we feel like it was Christmas. We have a good time staying in the Village. Staff are always nice and helpful. Cabins are clean and breakfast are good.

Review 90:Breakfast is not so good. It ends at 10 and near 10 it ran out of juice, instead of juice, there's only some water in the juice machine. Seems like it's used to clean the juice machine.

Review 91:the hotel located right in the village and we can walk to everywhere by foot. Cottage is nice and bathroom is large and clean. We enjoy the sauna room very much.

Review 92:A very touristic place, would not recommend it for longer holiday.

Review 93:We stayed one night on our way back to Sweden, located at the artic circle. Christmas is all year round. The cabins are very nice with a great sauna. Breakfast is good.

Review 94:Two problems: 1.: not enough staff member, there should be more! I felt really sorry for them, they had a lot of work! 2.: there MUST be a supermarket somewhere in the village!

Review 95:i would recommend!! I have never been to a hotel, that was so much great! The cabins are perfect! It is clean everywhere and the location is cool! The breakfast is also perfect! And the cabins are not expensive. Perfect!

Review 96:Breakfast food is repeated and limited. Some People working there are not very friendly as what we expected. no shuttle bus to city, need to rely on public bus.

Review 97:Comfortable and rosy environment with strong feeling of Christmas time even though it's March

Review 98:Room cleaning is only for the checking out unless you pay a huge extra.

Review 99:Location: Any possible activity in Finland is just around The apartment style makes possible don't be dependent of the restaurant.

Review 100:The bus stops running from the city centre to the hotel at 4pm- and thereafter you have to pay €20 each way for a taxi. It would be good if the hotel had a chargeable bus service (even at once per hour)to cover these hours. We went on the northern lights tour at €100 each. We were aware that there was no g-tee of seeing them (and didn't) but there was no follow up option of going again at a reduced rate say €20pp. considering the costs to run it are very low I think this would be viable option for the hotel and would improve the overall experience for its guests.

Review 101:It was a really nice place to stay with lots of home comforts. Plenty of things to do, but at a cost. Staff were friendly and informative.

Review 102:Nothing dislike, just a reminder for guests visiting in winter time: remember to ask for sled to carry the baggage when check-in /check-out at reception because dragging heavy bags on snowy road is not easy

Review 103:*Convenient Location - cabins are located just behind the reception building *Comfortable Room - Christmas décor both inside and outside the cabins is lovely, clean room, comfortable bed and sauna added bonus to our stay. We feel like walking to our temporarily "home" during our 2-night stay *Helpful staff at reception, safari booking counter and cashier counter, answered all our queries politely *Wi-Fi connection in cabin worked fine

Review 104:None.

Review 105:The cabinet has sauna! Inga, the reception lady is very sweet and helpful who helps us to book all the activities, such as husky ride, ice hotel dinner and tour, snowmobile, ice fishing and wild zoo. Theres Santa clause office, santa's post office, reindeer farm, husky park, ice tubing, ice restaurant, ice bar and over 5 good restaurant in the village within walking distance. You can stay here 2 weeks without feeling boring. Everyone here is very nice and friendly.

Review 106:We were upgraded to the ice igloo by email. Turns out we felt that the upgrade is because of nobody choosing it. While we understand that ice igloo probably isn't a very cozy place to sleep, we disappointed by the staff. We were told that the room would be ready at 5 pm, but then they said the sleeping bag or so wasn't ready at 5, and told us to walk around or just sit at the restaurant. Then we waited and waited for a few hours until we finally realize that the sleeping bags are to be carried by ourselves into the room. By the way sleeping in an ice igloo is an unique experience, but we would probably not to experience that again. There's not much that you can enjoy.

Review 107:Well, it's Santa's Village.

Review 108:Convenient location with about 10 mins drive from airport.Well equiped cooking facility in the room makes it possible to have a sweet dinner in the villa. All is great!

Review 109:The food in general was the same which ever Restrauant you used, but still acceptable , some places better than others

Review 110:The cabin was a pleasant surprise , modern , clean and comfortable , the sauna was a bonus. The facilities were very good for this type of trip, including outdoor activities

Review 111:It's little bit inconvenient to reach tourist attraction like Arctikum because it's not in downtown.

Review 112:I like the location that just inside the Santa Clause village. It's not near downtown, but I like silence mood at night. The room is very cozy, and kichenette is very useful for self-catering. Finnish sauna is great!! Free transfer service to/from airport was good, too.

Review 113:the holiday village is really has nothing to complain about, but the Santa Claus Village itself is really boring, nothing to see except a huge shopping area :-(

Review 114:- friends staffs - private sauna - comfort room / bed

Review 115:so close to the Santa Claus Village and the bus station. The bus 8 from railway station is just outside the information. The bus station to Saariselka is on the main road outside the information.

Review 116:The day when we checkout, it was snowing, walking with luggage dragging through snow is really difficult.

Review 117:Typical wood house with Sauna, cozy place with all kinds of activities, nice staffs....

Review 118:Temperature control in the room- we got a bit warm at times, although it was good when we came in from the freezing cold outside!

Review 119:A magical village, good facilities, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had such a great time!

Review 120:Restaurant should have more variety for dinner.

Review 121:The staff there were very polite and met with my request. The breakfast was one of the best I had throughout my trip.

Review 122:there is only one restaurant in the village that is opened.

Review 123:The location is excellent, staffs are nice and helpful. The cottage is nice and clean, the environment is so cozy and homey.

Review 124:The bed and pillow are too soft . The food in the restaurant is just at the acceptable level. No one tell me the password of the kick sled.

Review 125:The cabin is spacious enough and we can park the car behind the cabin. Decoration is new and I especially love the sauna room , can enjoy a hot sauna after staying in such a cold weather for a day ! The location is right next to the santa post office, santa main office and snowman world which is convenient.

Review 126:We came here for 4 days in the middle of January and the restaurants and shops are closed by 5pm, so there is nothing to do unless you rent a car. There is no bar open where you can have a drink. The excursions are very expensive as well as everything else (food, clothes, souvenirs, alcohol). We have never seen a hotel room where the TV would be behind the bed. :(

Review 127:The staff is really nice and helpful. There is a sauna in the log cabin, which comes handy after being outdoors for hours. The location is perfect, few minutes away from the airport and just 8km from the town centre. The area is beatiful, in the middle of the nature. The food is quite good, you can taste all the traditional Finnish delicates. Most of the excursions are good and very enjoyable, especially when the group is smaller.

Review 128:It's quite expensive for activities but Finland in general is quite expensive!

Review 129:Lots of pretty log cabins with their own sauna, snowy woods, restaurant's food is really good. Facilities are all walking distance - husky ride, santa, elf post office, teepee cafe.

Review 130:nothing! loved all of it and have recommended a visit to all of my friends : )

Review 131:loved the cabin with christmas tree on the porch, a sleigh, and a snowman! loved being able to walk around the beautiful village to the main part with the shops and reindeer park, husky park etc, but also to the surrounding forest. just so magical just before Christmas : ) great breakfast buffet and dinner included also. & great sauna in the room. love love loved it! hopefullly we can come back one day : )

Review 132:You need a lot of spending money for the trips etc.

Review 133:Everything was magical from start to finish. A trip to remember. Cabins were lovely and food delicious. Trips amazing.

Review 134:- Price - Overcrowded Well, both has been fully predictable at this time of the year at Joulupukki headquarters :-)

Review 135:- Joulupukki :-) - Big cozy cottage with excellent equipment including Finnish sledges - Staff is ready to help despite being really busy all the day long

Review 136:Nothing, I love everything here. I should spend one more night for the Ranau zoo excursion .

Review 137:-The local bus sent us to the Santa Claus Village, just right opposite. -The room is ready even it was 11am. The bed is so comfy. -They provided free dinner( buffet dinner ) for us n free shuttle bus to the airport. They picked up luggages from our room. -The staff r friendly n helpful. +You can enjoy all the winter experience with a cheaper price here. The snowmobile giving us a 1 hour ride instead of half an hour.
