Reviews for Hotel Charle
Review 1:The room was very dark, lighting was poor, people came in late banging the front doors.Breakfast very poor.
Review 2:Easy to find, ideal for one night travelling from Spain to France. Room was nice and warm, though could do with a makeover, very dated.
Review 3:The name 'Hotel Charle' is nowhere on the building. Instead it has completely different names as you approach. We spent two hours driving around in the dark looking for it and found it by pure chance. You need to show your name!!!! Pity because your hotel is great.
Review 4:Service and staff were great
Review 5:The only down side was the restaurant in the hotel was closed which means a trip down to Jaca if you want to eat in the evening or afternoon which if we had known we would have stayed at another hotel.
Review 6:Great location, staff friendly, we stayed there 4 yrs ago and although under new ownership they were only too pleased to let us have the same room.
Review 7:need to provide a bar menu when restaurant is closed Its location is great for travelling from spain to uk but makes it difficult when you can't eat at hotel
Review 8:location
Review 9:Cosy countryside house in the mountains, close to the french border, by the river. The owners are kind and helpful. The room was warm and comfortable enough for our needs. The owners offer horse riding as an extra activity. The breakfast was great, very good coffee :-) I would return.
Review 10:It was a bit cold and the walls were thin.
Review 11:Nice river next to the hotel- would be wonderful in summer! The staff was extremely helpful. One of the women was heading home when we arrived late and were looking for dinner. She suggested a pizza place where we could get pizza to take back to the hotel and even led us into town to the restaurant on her way home.
Review 12:Restaurant was closed . The room is very basic without any tables to place anything. The bathroom was terrible. The shower holder and the toilet seatwas broken .would we stay there again. NO.
Review 13:Restaurant closed. Heating not very efficient for time of the year must be worse in winter.
Review 14:Lovely position in river valley next to main through route to or from Spain/France, which was convenient since we spotted the hotel as we drove past ( GPS coordinates would a taken us a further 44 km ) Owners very nice, good buffet breakfast
Review 15:The Hotel is set in a beautiful surroundings and as always. Is a relaxing place to rest before a long journey to France or back to the Costa Blanca, Spain.
Review 16:The hotel is a bit rundown and being worked on. It is situated right off the main highway going to France. The breakfast was very minimal and we had to ask for coffee as it was obvious no one was interested in refilling the empty pot or asking if we'd like any coffee.
Review 17:Nice setting next to a river and El Camino de Santiago. Also enjoyed the outdoor table and chairs in front of our "cabin" among the trees.
Review 18:Not a bad experience, but the restaurant was a franchise so not really part of the hotel and we found it to be a bit pricey.
Review 19:We have stayed at the hotel before and found it really good value for money.
Review 20:None
Review 21:Family run hotel just outside Jaca. Very friendly and efficient and excellent value. Easy parking good food. Charming rustic style but with all facilities
Review 22:It was chaotic. Bar had one tot of gin. Little wine. Dinner was not until 20.30, we had been driving for over 10 hours. One girl was waitressing, managing the bar and being receptionist. The owner and his wife wandered around with their head in the clouds. Will not stay there again
Review 23:only slight inconvenience was evening meal at 9.00 o'clock. late after a long days travel.
Review 24:good for travellers, right next door to the main road. Good food, pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend
Review 25:Essential breakfast. The restaurant was not able to prepare for us a sandwich after a long journey, it was 02:00 pm.
Review 26:Great position between mountains and river. Internal style tipical of mountains villages, we loved it.
Review 27:Wi-fi only works in bar. Squeaky bed. Stairs to bed very narrow. No hot water except in evening.
Review 28:Quiet location in mountain. Food was good, but basic. Adequate for a one-night stopover. Cheap drinks.
Review 29:As we needed to leave early the following morning, we asked for facilities to get out. We were told that the key to the exterior door would be left in the lock. it was not, so we had to "escape" via an alternative method. This is a serious fire risk.
Review 30:Bathroom and bedroom facilities were OK. Location and surroundings good. Very quiet and peaceful.
Review 31:There was no heating available on arrival and it took a long time for the staff to get the heating on. We were disappointed with the suite as we had expected mountain views.
Review 32:The bed was comfortable.
Review 33:Payment taken at time of booking. On arrival told restaurant was closed as the chef was on holiday!! As only ourself and 1 other staying it seemed too few to be bothered. Advised to try two restaurants in town. One closed the other not open til 9. Will revert to the Bayonne toll route to Spain and stay where we know we will be welcome!
Review 34:The Hotel was clean. The room and facilities adequate. Breakfast was included. Lovely till free route into Spain.
Review 35:Bit noisy on the front of house but wouldn't stop me staying.
Review 36:Lovely wooded building. Everyone agreed that this is a lovely hotel. Breakfast included in the price. Very reasonable.
Review 37:We have stayed here many times in the past but we think the management has changed and although they were polite we had the impression we were doing them a favour, they seemed less friendly than previous management. The beds had those awful rubberised sheets on and it was impossible to get comfortable, though my husband was fine but I just seemed to slide around on them. The breakfast though good was nothing like it had been on previous visits and there are other hotels which are a lot cheaper. We will not stay here again.
Review 38:location, car parked outside.
Review 39:Felt very rushed through, they were quite short with us which was unnecessary. They room facilities where not great, our shower was hanging off the wall....Lastly the road was very noisy
Review 40:They liked our dog
Review 41:Shower a little tight to get into and shower tray broken.Backpacker or travelling through.
Review 42:Staff very pleasant and helpful. Evening meal excellent value. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 43:Special request of double bed and extra pillows ignored but as there for only one night didn't really matter.
Review 44:Quaint, excellent value for the money.
Review 45:Great Location on the main road between Spain and France. A quaint property. The rooms were well appointed though slightly too warm for our liking. An excellent breakfast.
Review 46:they don't serve food on a Monday and yes it was a Monday we got there. 3km to nearest food. very very poor breakfast and.... just give it a miss, we will next year.
Review 47:The drive from there into France.
Review 48:After 14 hours driving,we could have done with some food.hotel restaurant closed.hotel out of main town and hard to find in dark.
Review 49:A lovely building.wooden floors, stone walls, comfortable seating areas. Nice owners.
Review 50:The food was again great and I had a chance to try breakfast which was very good also. The hosts were friendly too. I arrived in the day this time and the scenery is fantastic.
Review 51:Nada
Review 52:The hotel is exactly what you would expect for the area - a perfect example of a ski lodge - beams, leather sofas and open fires and rushing water outside. The owners were very friendly and competent in both English and Spanish. However, what deserves the highest praise was their restaurant. The menu del dia was truly stunning and one of the best we have had anywhere. I cannot recommend the restaurant and the service highly enough. It is very good value too.
Review 53:The young woman who dealt with us was extremely helpful and could not be faulted. The evening meal was excellent and again the young man who served us did so very well. Our dog was made most welcome
Review 54:Bathroom outdated No control of heating in room Initially needed to run the cold water to get it clean and clear
Review 55:The most comfortable bed of a 6 week trip. Quiet Free Parking Easy access to travel route Great coffee Relaxed atmosphere Dog friendly
Review 56:The room was warm and it was a good value stopover for the Pyrenees. The breakfast was good, too. The real delight was the evening meal in the restaurant.
Review 57:The cold room. We had requested a room with little or no stairs and were given a chalet at the back of the hotel. It had a high ceiling and in this season was really cold. It was difficult to sleep because of this and impossible to take a shower in the morning. Some form of heating should be provided for this time of the year when it is not yet cold enough (normally) to turn on the central heating but when the temperature requires an extra boost.
Review 58:The welcome of a fluent English speaker who was very helpful.
Review 59:No evening meal available. Television did not appear to work WFi reception was poor
Review 60:The rustic charm. Staff were really good in an attempt to be helpful. The location.
Review 61:No hair dryer. No bedside light that works independently.
Review 62:Staff extremely helpful. Pet friendly. Room clean. Free WiFi. Location just outside Jaca. Parking facilities. Breakfast no frills but adequate Place FULL of charm. Comfortable lounge area. Bar on site. GREAT VALUE
Review 63:The location was ideal for a fresh morning start over the Pyranese into France.
Review 64:Surroundings
Review 65:Lovely hotel super place to stay with a great breakfast.
Review 66:Excellent location on the N330 and a short distance from the French border.
Review 67:Good room adjacent to main building. Very quiet. Good bar and dining room. Busy with good staff and guests.
Review 68:locationbit \evening meal 13 euro
Review 69:Convenient location on Spainish /French boarder. Lovely hotel.
Review 70:Quant old fashioned hotel in pleasant location. Good route for travelling from Spain to France avoiding high speed auto routes. Beautiful scenery.
Review 71:Ideally situated for anyone traveling to France. Scenic views to the rear of hotel. Restaurant good value for money
Review 72:nice clean hotel
Review 73:not weligned off the road.took 2 enquiries and 1hr to locate also dinning room closed for a weekbbb
Review 74:quite rustic
Review 75:Only problem closed but good restaurants recommended
Review 76:Convenient and friendly hotel
Review 77:The road and railway noise kept us awake.
Review 78:Only downside was restaurant was closed due to holiday!
Review 79:Only a one night stay, lived up to my expectations, would stay there again.
Review 80:Resturant was closed
Review 81:Convenience
Review 82:The best for friendliness and very helpful, roll on next year so we can go back again
Review 83:No hair drier
Review 84:Friendly staff, clean,comfortable hotel.
Review 85:Restaurant was closed - we were not informed of this. It was really the reason that we booked
Review 86:Location, pet freindly
Review 87:I liked opening my window and seeing a river and trees so relaxing. A very interesting stay.
Review 88:Nothing to say
Review 89:Good location and views on route staff friendly nothing to much trouble
Review 90:Difficult to find. Luggage is difficult to store within reach.
Review 91:Chalé charm and good food in the restaurant.
Review 92:Could supply tea making equipment in rooms but you can get in bar.
Review 93:Staff very friendly even gave a jump start with car.
Review 94:Cona coffee and no Museli.
Review 95:Very convenient, staff very pleasant and helpful , food good, plenty of hot water,
Review 96:The room was spotless, the staff friendly and the evening meal excellent.
Review 97:We liked the location of the hotel which is an ideal stop over for travelling (driving) between the UK and Southern Spain.
Review 98:Warm greeting. Food quality and value
Review 99:Our bath was a tad tight to get into
Review 100:WE liked virtually everything at the Hotel Charle including the location, restaurant. and help from the staff
Review 101:No restaurant for dinner
Review 102:Dark corridors - poorly lit. Very noisy floorboards. Very small bathroom. Average breakfast.
Review 103:Nothing in particular
Review 104:Our room was grotty but suspect the others were better
Review 105:Breakfast and location and price
Review 106:Very disappointed with this hotel, the room was dark and dingy, the shower curtain was so old it was stiff, the basket that held the shower gel etc was mouldy the TV was so old it didn't work properly, the bedspread had stains on it, and at the time we stayed they had a problem with the kitchen so there was no restaurant, but I do wonder it that was an excuse as we appeared to be the only guests.
Review 107:Nothing
Review 108:Could not get a meal as was told kitchen broken, but we were one of only two guests staying at that time so probably wasn't worth them staffing it, pity because we would have eaten there. Garden areas need lots of TLC.
Review 109:A very rustic old farm building that oozes character in a very lovely setting. Comfortable lounge and bar area. Very pleasant owner.
Review 110:The Hotel Charle has been neglected and the grounds were overgrown. The breakfast was basic,{it did not change, was very limited and the butter ran out by day four} Our room was often chilly due to the heating settings, and was not on at all in the mornings. To add to the many imperfections the Restaurant was closed!
Review 111:The two superior rooms were behind the main building, the room was clean and the bed comfortable.
Review 112:Suite would not suit older or disabled person due to difficult stairs.
Review 113:Very friendly staff, lovely walks nearby, good privacy, rustic. Nearby town of Jaca an absolute must, lovely old quarter with good restaurants/tapas bars.
Review 114:Our small two storey Suite comprised two rooms connected by a steep narrow staircase. The wardrobe was downstairs with the bathroom and double bed upstairs. A totally impractical layout. No comfortable seating. There was a public lounge in the bar. The grounds were unkempt and the restaurant was closed. Very expensive relative to other accommodation in Northern Spain
Review 115:Host was extremely interested and helpful.
Review 116:We were in the annex and the hot water took an age to warm up.
Review 117:Superb location in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Great views of the mountains. Easy to find just and off the road with safe parking. We were travelling with our small dog who was made very welcome. Comfortable room and good breakfast. Tip! If you have problems with stairs let the management know as the stairs in our room were steep..
Review 118:The food this time was poor especially evening meal which was not good value for money and disappointing given previous experience here. Our room was noisy (road noise) and at top of wooden staircase which other guests use to get to their rooms
Review 119:Always welcoming. 4th time we have stayed. Comfortable bar area
Review 120:Worn and basic furniture in bedroom. Brown water from tap when initially turned on. Relatively high cost for bed and breakfast compared to other hotels. Only one other person staying that night
Review 121:Literally on the roadside so great for a break en-route.
Review 122:Hard to spot from the roadside since Hotel sign not very well sited. On first approaching it seems to be an equestrian centre and not a hotel.
Review 123:The position is lovely and it is the second time we stayed. Little dog loved it. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly.
Review 124:Room smelt of damp Shower needs improving, I found it difficult to use because it was set in small bath with shower curtain not appropriate. Needs refit. Poor dog tided up from morning to night.
Review 125:Food was good. Lounge areas.
