Reviews for Landa
Review 1:We were telephoned one day before we arrived to say the pool was out of action for a wedding. It was too late to book anywhere else and they would have had the wedding booked for much longer than one day and could have telephined us sooner to let us know so we could look for somewhere else to stay.
Review 2:Lovely setting. The staff were helpful and we had the best tapas I have ever eaten anywhere. The room was lovely and bathroom clean.
Review 3:Quite a long way from the town of Burgos if you wanted to walk (not for driving). Walking by the motorway looked hazardous so we didn't bother
Review 4:Lovely hotel with a fantastic bar where you could take breakfast or evening meal. Very popular with the locals! Beautiful comfortable room. Very reasonable prices for a 5 star hotel
Review 5:This was the most amazing place we have ever stayed in. The hotel is a very old castle tower and the interior is incredibly beautiful. The staff were very attentive and we had a delicious dinner there.
Review 6:The restaurant and bar are open to the public and as we arrived on Sunday afternoon the place was very busy and so the service was slow . I didn't get a warm feeling . It seemed just like a bar and restaurant next to a nice hotel .
Review 7:Beautiful building and rooms . Full of history and very grand .
Review 8:It is hard to describe the attitude of the staff. They were efficient but looked slightly flustered. In the eating areas they all moved about at speed as if they were being watched and timed. Did not make for a relaxing eating atmosphere. Quality of food was just ok
Review 9:The rooms are very well appointed with comfortable bedding and good quality toiletries.
Review 10:No slippers, we had slippers in their junior suite. No loungers by pool. Pool not available following day due to wedding. Our suite had not been used for some time, spiders, cobweb joined the bathrobes. Dirty water running the bath. 3 calls to Reception not answered, went down to reception not busy. No tissues, holder empty. Room tired. Receptionist just not bothered.
Review 11:Given two extra chocolates by the maid for our inconvenience.
Review 12:The whole experience was great, it is probably the most physically the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in. The restaurant and staff were very good.
Review 13:Its right next to two motorways so great as a motel, if it was say 5km away from motorway would be a superb place. When arrived place absolutely mobbed like motorway service station as has a restaurant to side which very popular stopping place - hotel does have private parking but not obvious. Pool nice enough but bizarre listening to road noise and have cooking smells from restaurant next door wafting over the lawns by the pool.
Review 14:Its a really well restored castle - apparently moved to current location some 50 yrs ago. Public areas of hotel absolutely superb - rooms comfortable.
Review 15:The Restaurant is really an upmarket motorway service station. Breakfast was not included in the price of our room so we skipped it as very overpriced
Review 16:Amazing building with impressive indoor pool and very large comfortable rooms. Slightly odd position by side of motorway but Burgos was a short 10 minute drive away
Review 17:Restaurant was under staffed waiters tried very hard but not enough staff for the tables that day
Review 18:Good ,finish to a parador type hotel attention to detail was very good
Review 19:The staff in the bar were quite rude. We couldn't open the blinds in our bedroom to let in more light.
Review 20:Beautiful room, extremely comfortable. The maitre' at dinner was charming. The kitchen was open onto the dining room so we could watch the chefs at work. Food was very good and delicious local wine.
Review 21:the hotel is let down by its unfortunate location at the angle of two motorways on the edge of town. There is constant traffic noise in the garden, and it is necessary to drive into Burgos (or anywhere else)
Review 22:Wonderful old castle; extremely comfortable room with excellent bathroom. Lovely swimming pool and delightful and delicious breakfast in the garden. Staff helpful and professional
Review 23:For a hotel of this star rating they must have more bilingual staff
Review 24:The building was very interesting and had many nice old features. Rooms comfortable
Review 25:Poor air conditioning. Continental breakfast very average and poor value for money
Review 26:Easy to find off the A1 going north. Sunday lunch very good but very expensive at 90euros for 2 people with no alcohol. Staff in hotel and restaurant were excellent
Review 27:Restaurant location, bar service and quality of bar food very poor.
Review 28:Very polite and helpful reception staff. Lovely, comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Great room service both breakfast and lunch.
Review 29:Restaurant was a disappointment. First two things I asked for on the menu were not available. Menu - very poor presentation and unorganized, likely printed from a pc. Exterior (e.g. balcony, pool) does not seem to fall under cleaning and maintenance.
Review 30:Room was very nice, but a bit outdated and no working a/c. Interior of hotel is exquisite.
Review 31:Nothing. Maybe you could quibble about the curious lack of conventional information about hotel services in the bedrooms, but Reception is so helpful it doesn't much matter
Review 32:The bedroom was superb, very atmospheric as well as comfortable and the public areas are as good. It has a fine indoor/outdoor pool. You also get free parking underground. For Brits the fact that they serve tapas-style bar food all day is terrific, compared to (say) Paradores where you are a bit stuck with formal meals at "odd times".
Review 33:It took us a little while to find the hotel we didn't realise that access to it was directly from the motorway.
Review 34:The staff were very helpful and made us welcome. The evening meal was a bit late for us but we enjoyed breakfast very much. The hotel was very clean and interesting.
Review 35:Beautiful bedroom/bathroom in a high class old palace very well restored/modernised with a high class spa area. Very pleasant cafe with a tapas-like menu to avoid the need to wait till 8.30 to dine. Very competent pleasant staff with efficient processes like check-in and out. Free secure u'ground parking
Review 36:Would have loved an earlier dinner as we were very tired but when we ate it was well worth waiting for!
Review 37:We loved everything about it - the suite was wonderful, the staff were very warm, welcoming and efficient! We can't wait to go back a.s.a.p!!
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:I have stayed several times before and this is a superb hotel. The rooms are superb and the underground pool is amazing. The restaurant and cafe/bar are used by lots of locals and serve anything from tapas to fine dining. If you want to stay in a castle on the way to or from Santander or Bilbao this is perfect.
Review 40:The bedroom linen and bathroom were clean. but the floors could do with attention as there was quite a bit of dust. Poor lighting in bedroom.
Review 41:Attentive and helpful staff. Quality of food was good and such a great variety of local produce and wines. Close to Burgos and yet peaceful surroundings.
Review 42:As reported, it is very hard to find the Landa coming from the north. It was pretty frustrating. Once a mistake is made, it can be hard to recover and backtrack. The people of Burgos tried to help and were generous with their advice, but still we went in circles for about 45 minutes.
Review 43:The appearance of the Landa property is amazing. There is a reconstructed castle attached to a restaurant. There are collections and antiques everywhere. It is very easy to feel transported to a different time and place. It is so enjoyable. The bedrooms are very large and very nicely decorated and maintained. The restaurant has some of the best food we ate in Spain, served by a truly professional staff. My hat is off to the staff.
Review 44:Been refused to use swimming pool
Review 45:We wish we were able to use facilities having done so many years ago and having dreamed of using the famous pool but not allowed to do so Poor show
Review 46:Satnav had difficulty finding the hotel.
Review 47:The ambiance was fantastic. Our suite was well appointed and the staff could not have done more to help my wife who has limited mobility.
Review 48:Not very much but if I had to say one thing it would be, too close to motor way.
Review 49:It was vey peaceful and the pool was lovely. The restaurant was very good, but the Café service is very slow. A lovely place to stay while traveling through Spain
Review 50:As much as the indoor pool area was spectacular in design, the chairs were a bit neglected. Don't let that deter you. Loved the place!
Review 51:Everything. Design, antiques, ambiance, theme, and accommodations.
Review 52:Always a good experience you can rely on. Rooms, food and service set a standard. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms with tasteful decor. We have stayed at Landa trough the years and always come back to it as a destination. Worth a detour from your route to,experience the stay and the food.
Review 53:For the first time we encountered an attitude problem with some staff. At the Bar we asked for a half bottle of champagne/sparkling wine. We were told this was not possible a full bottle or nothing and no other suggestions. The restaurant was understaffed. A waitress and barman aslo as a server. After an excellent bottle of red wine we asked if we could have a further half bottle or a similar wine in a half bottle. We asked for the wine waiter who was busy serving food. The waitress just said not possible was unhelpful so we left and complained at reception-who did not seem surprised. We ordered a bottle to our room but were very disappointed with our first bad experience at this excellent hotel. Lastly there are no English language TV channels-seeing they have many British and English speaking guests this is clearly a mistake.
Review 54:The hotel rooms are exceptional and very clean. Reception is excellent The restaurant is good and now opens at 8:30pm
Review 55:Unfortunate location by the highway. a great place to stay for a night or tow, but not much to do unless you have a car.
Review 56:Excellent room and amenities. Very spacious and well appointed. Charming staff. Lovely grounds.
Review 57:No facilities in the room for tea etc and TV could only be seen while in bed. So an opportunity missed as the accommodation could have been much enhanced by information about the hotel, tourism etc
Review 58:We were upgraded to a suite, I think to separate us from a very noisy wedding party. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. Great bathroom but Jaccuzi did not work.
Review 59:For elderly people the amount of stairs of all kinds may cause some problems. However, if you can walk a few steps up and down there are rooms suitable to those who use wheel chairs. The beds are a little hard so if you are sensitive ask for a soft mattress. - To save time in the morning when we checked out we had ordered breakfast at our room by the slip on the door. It should come as early as possible, i e 8:00-8:30. It did't come. There was no written info at the room, not even the phone nr to reception. Had to rush down to ask for it. Could have missed our plane with less time margin.
Review 60:This hotel has an atmosphere not found often. We loved it. The staff is very kind and service minded and the rooms are beautiful. Great restaurant, exellent food. Easy to find and park compared to other hotels in Burgos. Wonderful pool area, but too few sunchairs. We stayed at the 3rd level in the tower overviewing the autopista but no noise problems. Good value for the price. In spite of the smears (in red) we will come back.
Review 61:Fifth floor room near noisy lift. Not good for tourists wanting to see Burgos being on a traffic island surrounded by motorways although taxis to the city readily available. On first visit not easily found. Sat nav post code does not work.
Review 62:Fine medieval tower cleverly converted providing very good First floor bedroom ours with exceptionally luxurious bathroom Good restaurant with excellent wine list. Breakfast served speedily - no buffet. Secure parking very close to entrance.
Review 63:Directions to the hotel are inadequate and we were not the first to have taken ages driving up and down motorways without finding it. The location on the edge of a motorway makes access brilliant when you know the way BUT not being near the city makes it inconvenient for a tourist wishing to see the city
Review 64:The tower was an amazing piece of architecture. The First floor rooms are brilliant but the ones on higher floors are more ordinary. Good food and wine list at reasonable prices. High quality linen sheets.
Review 65:location, totally overpriced, lousy kitchen with bad service in the dining room; overpriced food and drinks. Not recommended.
Review 66:seems nice, but at a second glance it's not
Review 67:After reading some glowing reviews on Booking. com my wife and I booked 2 nights here on our way back to Santander port in Aug 2014,First thing about this Hotel is , it is right next to a very busy motorway and I mean right on the motorway ! It is on the edge of an Industrial Estate.. Therefore fairly easy to find on the plus side,Burgos town is a 14 euro taxi ride away, so not in walking distance of the Hotel (unless you are a marathon contender ) On booking in we were shown to our suite ( 170 euros/ night ) no tea/ coffee making facilities, the floor of the room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed ( nut shells under chairs , bits of paper on floor ) Also the carpet was light beige in colour and looked worse for wear with stains everywhere..The room was very well furnished with Antiques and large brass bed, slippers and bathrobes were provided..We decided to go to the bar and take a couple of drinks, Big mistake , there is no bar solely for the Hotel guests , you have to use the public bar which is attached to the Hotel, which was very busy, we waited approx. 20 mins and nobody came near us to take our orders, feeling thirsty and hot we made our way back to the reception and told the girl there about our problem getting served, she was very apologetic and promised to get drinks and serve them at the pool ...After another 30 mins no drinks ever arrived and I trotted back to the reception which was unmanned and had to use the telephone to get anybody to come.. we did finally get drinks but the service was appalling, also be warned the bar / restaurant is used by the public and is really a motorway station..no preference is given to guests, there is no pool service and to get drinks involves a long trip back and forth to a crowded bar..
Review 68:nothing really
Review 69:Why not stay in a castle/folly. Lots of antique furniture to lounge in and a 25m swimming pool to build up an appetite for the rather expensive but excellent restaurant.
Review 70:It would be nice to have at least one English language TV station such as BBC World or CNN or even SKY-which is possible. Many foreign guests do not speak Spanish but have a knowledge of English.
Review 71:The castle is lovely and the rooms superb. Everything is very clean and the service superb. At last they have changed the restaurant opening hours in the evening from 9pm to 8:30pm. An excellent change that is good news for those who have had a long drive to Burgos
Review 72:Just finding it from the A1.
Review 73:Despite the difficulty of finding the property from the northwest were very impressed. The staff were very helpful. The rooms were large and airy. The bathrooms were equivalent to many 5 star hotels. The breakfast was great! Fresh fruit and brioches!!

Review 76:Quiet, despite its location on main route, well appointed and just a little quirky. Room tucked away with plenty of space.

Review 85:Nothing.
Review 86:Interior design, kindness of the employees and the swimming pool. Most beautiful room ever.

Review 95:Closeness to noisy motorway
