Reviews for Parador de Ayamonte
Review 1:Mediocre food. Two out of three bills for food and drink were incorrect (overcharged). Staff did correct the bills, but it rather spoilt the stay.
Review 2:Views from hotel terrace were stunning
Review 3:The cooked breakfast was cold could be addressed otherwise very good . Pillows could be better very flat. Good beds.
Review 4:View from balcony of river comfy chairs to sit out. Very relaxing.
Review 5:The bathroom needs updating and is grim, clean yes, but the grouting is black around the bath and shower with broken tiles. Quite frankly that bathroom is not worthy of a 3 star hotel and we have had much better in Spain over the years, for half that price. I told reception we would not pay 90€ again to have such a poor bathroom. The room desperately is in need of a total re-furbishment.
Review 6:The position of the hotel and views, and car parking. The public areas are excellent. We did not eat there as after many Parador stays we feel the breakfast price is much too expensive!
Review 7:The bedrooms seemed a little tired and the baths and showers were not up to standard. It would have been a bonus to have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. There were only two staff on duty for the bar and restaurant and they looked very stressed to the point that the waitress was sullen and rude. However, the breakfast and reception staff were very helpful.
Review 8:The views from the hotel were stunning, the beds were extremely comfortable and breakfast excellent.
Review 9:Reception staff, who had little language skills and kept customers waiting while using personal mobile phones.
Review 10:Cleanliness and breakfast and bar staff who were helpful even though they did not speak any language other than Spanish.
Review 11:As the title suggests the location of this Parador couldn't be better overlooking the River Guadiana to Portugal. Be sure to get a room on this side like we did as it is lovely to just sit on the balcony and take in the view. The rooms are modern and spacious. The bathroom was also a good size but perhaps in need of some updating. One of our washbasins was cracked. The room had a fridge but no minibar. The wifi worked really well. The public areas were nicely appointed and the bar faced the lovely view. We were able to have a swim in the outdoor pool and relax on one of the many loungers available in the nice garden. We did not eat in the Parador so can't comment on the restaurant. It is a short drive into town where there are a number of bars. A car is essential. We thought the Parador was excellent value for money and will certainly be back.
Review 12:Problems - constantly - with the room key, which the staff tried to solve several times but to no avail.
Review 13:Wonderful view from balcony over the Rio Guadiana to Portugal. Very easy to locate. Food was good and reasonably priced.
Review 14:This hotel only works if you have a call. It is far too far to walk to the town and hence we spent a considerable amount on taxis during our stay.
Review 15:Facilities good and view across the river to Portugal and the setting sun was excellent.
Review 16:Bathroom a little tired, only a minor point, but everywhere was clean so no big deal.
Review 17:Reception staff, who are the first face of any hotel were very friendly and helpful which is always a good sign . We have used Paradores all over Spain for years and this one, although not the best, is in a great location if you want to pop over into Portugal as it's literally on the border. It has a good private car park which, for a change, is free, unlike many Paradores which charge exorbitant prices to park.
Review 18:Wifi didn't work in the rooms. The facility is very strict in its rules, not too flexible and not entirely accommodating. The value and the service are not up to pair.
Review 19:Location was nice, the views are beautiful, parking included
Review 20:Location, location,....an a wonderful view of Ayamonte and the surrounding nature.
Review 21:Lovely hotel with great bar and terrace . Nice pool also.
Review 22:Beautiful location. Excellent service.
Review 23:The views from hotel were beautiful Very relaxing atmosphere Meal at night very good and reasonably priced
Review 24:We liked everything about the hotel. We will be back.
Review 25:I did not like the set price of Euros 15 per person for breakfast. It was a lot of money for what I had.
Review 26:Standard of breakfast, limited choice, bacon cold.
Review 27:Ambience Location Car parking
Review 28:Room was basic and bed was uncomfortable.
Review 29:The location and reception area.
Review 30:very noisy, restaurant short staffed food poor selection
Review 31:location
Review 32:Cooked breakfast provided but only if you asked (e.g. fried eggs, omelete etc.) 4* hotel should really have doorman
Review 33:Beautiful location overlooking Guadiana river. Friendly and helpful staff
Review 34:Pool and pool area needs some updating Requested extra bed on web page but this didn't carry through to booking
Review 35:Amazing views Nice decor Lovely big bedroom
Review 36:The dining arrangements and food left much to be desired. One youngfemale staff member mainly did everything, although she coped well, bothat dinner and breakfast!!
Review 37:Nice clean room overlooking the river estuary. Comfortable
Review 38:Only way to pool thro lounge as far as we could find out too far qay from rooms on top corridor. Restautrant not open just cafeteria food not v g cold and unpleasant fish. Good value cava at only 2 euros with crisps. Staff there very pleasant. We chose to eat out as did many guests as food in restaurants in Ayamonte good and well priced
Review 39:Room a bit basic for Parador but it is 4 star not 5 star. Breeakfast not included in our deal which we did not know but think 16 euros bit pricey for a breakfast which at best was just ok
Review 40:Breakfast selection was poor for a Parador and overpriced. Rooms a liitle tired and in need of some updating. Evening menu lacking in imagination and portions very small.
Review 41:Spacious rooms. Staff generally good and efficient - friendly. Views from rooms are splendid across the river to Portugal.
Review 42:Wish there was more of a bar/cafe/bar meals area. Wish even morethan that there was information on the artist. So no 'didn'tlike' at all.
Review 43:The design was open plan - beautiful art and furnishings
Review 44:The first night I couldn't sleep as the room overlooked the river and the wind was ferocious that night. I asked to change room the next morning but the receptionist was very un helpful and said that was the only room available. The second night people were walking along the corridor making a noise until 4.30 am. I wasn't offered any cooked food for breakfast although the charge was 16 euros.
Review 45:The indifferent attitude of the reception staff and the food in therestaurant was quite mediocre. I have noticed this in several paradorsof late and this may have explained why there were only 4 people (Ithink) people staying in this one. The nationally owned Paradors areresting too much on their laurels (or rather building assets) and arelosing the plot especially as there are plenty of other private hotelssituated in superb buildings and locations, and which maintain a qualityof service and attention to match. The rooms were quite noisy as wellfrom the neighbouring rooms and corridor. However, I re-iterate- the two restaurant and bar staff were superb although over-stretched(cost cutting?)
Review 46:The location and the view are fantastic. The staff in the restuarant andbar were very friendly and helpful
Review 47:On some occations there was a smell of methane that came from the overflow vent in the handbasins.
Review 48:The Ayamonte Parador has a superb location, it is safe and secure in every way, the staff are very attentive and work to a very high standard, simply 5star or above in my personal experience. I could not find a single peice of letter anywhere throughout the parador grounds and I never saw a cigerette butt anywhere. None of the staff smelt of ciceratte smoke and I saw none of them smoke throughout my 10day stay. All food and drinks were served superbly and the prices charged were very reasonable compared to 5star hotels. WE will certainly use Paradors again.
Review 49:Door to Balcony could not be left open due to wind - very strong onoccasions - even n late August Had to use a chair to wedge it openBreakfast not worth the money !! As ever - Parador's are just amount worth the expense - but only just Hotel decor looked "dated" Having said the above - we did enjoy our stay
Review 50:Location and Views
Review 51:The staff could do with a little more training - the level of service was not what I would have hoped for in this 'premium brand' accommodation.
Review 52:Location and great facilities.
Review 53:I have seriously never seen an hotel that looks more like a prisonin my life! The view of the hotel from the swimming pool area wassimply dreadful.
Review 54:Well appointed room and attentive staff. Superb views from most areas ofthe hotel. A good local ambience.
Review 55:Were cockroach in the room
Review 56:The location was perfect
Review 57:Just over the border from Portugal, was great. Lovely view over the river and really comfortable seats on the veranda.
Review 58:Location, view and value.
Review 59:The late opening of the dining room for evening meal
Review 60:The view
Review 61:reception staff on arriving and leaving very unfriendly and curt
Review 62:No negatives
Review 63:The fact that it was on the Potuguese / Spanish border it suited ourneeds. It exceeded our expectations. Lovely view.
Review 64:the breakfeast fee is very high, it should be included .
Review 65:it's view and Ayamonte has lovely old quarters
Review 66:Not good value for money. You expect something extra from a Parador but this one did not deliver
Review 67:Nice view and spacy rooms
Review 68:Beautiful location overlooking Ayamonte, Portugal and Spain. Relaxedatmosphere.Good food and drink.
