Reviews for Family Agua Amarga
Review 1:Our standard room was a bit dark, but a good size and there's a lovely seating area outside
Review 2:The staff we're fantastic; very helpful and excellent hospitality. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten in Spain. Excellent breakfast.
Review 3:Only bad is poor Wi-Fi in the rooms. Wi-Fi is only accessible from restaurant area or the terrace, but who needs Wi-Fi when you spending all day on the beach. Small TV in the rooms, but also when you spending most of the day out of the room....
Review 4:Staff, great breakfast, interior, close to the beach, 200 m of walk to the beach, not more than 3 minutes. Great location in small village Agua Amarga. Restaurant in hotel provides great domestic authentic meals made from local sources. Quite, nice for relax, nice small outdoor terrace with the pool. Close to the center of the village, 5-7 minutes of walk.
Review 5:Rooms were basic and very dated. A coarse rug with sagging orange net made up the curtains.
Review 6:Breakfast was good- though exactly the same every day. Very near the beach in quiet area.
Review 7:Nothing!
Review 8:I've stayed at this hotel before and it never fails to impress with the friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and the food! Breakfast and the evening meal are simply wonderful. The cuisine for dinner is to die for. Truly worth every penny and a bargain for the quality of food and the menu offering. The bedroom was quaint and the beds were very comfortable. The staff are very sweet and endearing and always so friendly. The owner lent me a needle and cotton for a dress disaster! The pool area is relaxed and the location next to the beach was ideal for carrying bags to the beach. My boyfriend who turned 40 whilst we were there was so impressed by the whole experience here he has already suggested we return!
Review 9:WiFi only available in the dining area and reception.
Review 10:The evening meal is not to be missed. We were there for 6 days and ate in the hotel restaurant 3 times. The food is excellent and is outstanding value for money.
Review 11:Nothing really
Review 12:Fantastic hosts and everywhere spotlessly clean. Nice room with a lovely terrace. Had a fabulous dinner for 23euro that included a bottle of wine! Breakfast was amazing with freshly made omelettes, crepes, fresh fruit etc etc. Highly recommend
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:The breakfast was the best I've ever had, fresh fruit salad, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade yogurt, omlette, pancakes with homemade fig jam. Dinner was also particularly good, with wild black boarcooked to perfection. Our bedroom was simple and quirky, with a huge bed. A gorgeous second honeymoon!
Review 15:We would have preferred more variety at breakfast and at dinner, however we did stay for a week and maybe this was a little longer than most guests. It was very hot during our stay and the dinner menus were a little too heavy (being mainly terrine-stews) also there was no printed menu and we had to decide 'on the spot' what we would like to eat. We were a little under-prepared too and had not packed a hair-dryer which turned out to be a mistake! We also hadn't brought pool/beach towels but Rene was quite relaxed about us using the bathroom ones.
Review 16:We were made very welcome to this small boutique Hostel. It is only about 50 metres from the long sandy beach. The decoration is Moorish-Spanish and the home-cooked food follows a similar theme. There is good free wifi reception in the dining room and entrance hall. It is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty with lots of walks and beautiful views.
Review 17:Only complaint would be that WIFI only works when standing in the lobby.
Review 18:Mark was a most gracious host and extremely accommodating. The breakfast that is included is spectacular. We also had dinner...this is the best 23 EUR you can spend...outstanding! Rooms were comfortable and charming. The town is beautiful.
Review 19:We just didnt have enough time there =)
Review 20:This place is a short walk from the beach, has parking and a small but nice pool area. The breakfast is great and the rooms, although nothing special still has necessities, enough for a great experience. After check out we were able to use all facilities apart from the room, such as pool, parking, towels etc.

Review 46:Room, pool, excellent home cooking and friendly staff.
Review 47:nothing
Review 48:friendly staff, yummy breakfast, great pool, only a few rooms with few other guests, big warm clean swimming pool.
Review 49:Location,facilities,comfort, informality.
Review 50:Nice quiet place, very friendly staff, very good food.
Review 51:Poor quality pillows and heavy quilt on bed did not lend itself to a comfortable night.
Review 52:Large room with balcony with good sea view over the rooftops. Food at breakfast & dinner very good & plentiful. Everywhere appeared spotless.
Review 53:Our room needed new pillows and we have alerted the management so no doubt that will have been dealt with.
Review 54:This was our second visit to the Family Hotel - last time some years ago. We were delighted to find that nothing has changed, the family are lovely, the rooms large with plenty of storage space, good location - just a few minutes walk to everywhere including the beach. Breakfast delicious. We didn't use the pool but it looked good.
Review 55:Breakfast could be a little earlier ...maybe start at 8.30 am instead of 9am........internet access only available near reception .
Review 56:Good location in quiet village ...Comfortable beds....very nice staff and helpful......evening meals in their restaurant were excellent....we chose to eat there every night...the choice of different foods exceptionally cooked were a treat....all in all highly recommended for a place to stay to explore the surrounding areas .
Review 57:small room
Review 58:the whole property, free parking, the ambience in general, the breakfastroom and the excellent breakfast, close to the beach, unspoiled seaside village though somewhat dead in February
Review 59:We love the Hotel Family and have visited it six times in the last dozen years. We love the family, the cooking, the general ambiance, and Agua Amarga itself, one of seaside villages in that part of Spain so far unspoiled
Review 60:Loved the atmosphere and friendliness of the family. The room (ensuite) was small, warm and cozy. Location next to nature park trails and beach is great. Would love to return a bit warmer season to enjoy the pool and outdoor meals.
Review 61:They are good enough to allow dogs to stay, and previously we have had a ground floor room. Spacious and ideal. This time we had a room at the side which was cramped. We were informed at the hotel we were given this room because we didn't book through the hotel direct. This we will do in the future beccause the situation was not made clear in our e mail book
Review 62:The Hotel has a great deal of style and imagination. The food is superb, as are the furnishings. have stayed at the Hotel several times and hopefully will return.
Review 63:We were very happy with our stay. Note that the standard rooms are small & lack cross ventilation--we upgraded.
Review 64:Excellent restaurant (although open only on weekends in Oct.), delicious & abundant breakfast, large room with balcony, helpful staff, great location in Cabo de Gata. Access to great scenic beaches.
Review 65:When u do your booking as a couple you should specify that you would like a double bed and not two separate beds!
Review 66:Our stay at Family Agua Amarga was great! I can especially recommend the breakfast and their home-made jam! We would stay here again just because of the breakfast
Review 67:We would have liked a little more shade at the pool but it did not spoil our enjoyment of the fantastic spot.
Review 68:Marc and his family /staff were just wonderful. Friendly and helpful. This was one of the best small hotel's we have ever stayed at, with amazing breakfasts and wonderful evening meals.
Review 69:The poolside loungers were fixed in sitting position - there were only a couple that lay flat. I would have preferred white towels for shower and separate coloured ones for the beach/pool, but not important.
Review 70:We liked the large, spacious room and shower. Their was a little balcony with a sea-view. The breakfast was wonderful!
Review 71:Genuinely friendly people. Excellent food. Quiet location but within easy reach of the beach.
Review 72:Everything was good. The only thing stopping it being excellent was the poor sound insulation of the doors
Review 73:Oustanding food Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff
Review 74:Rather cramped room, though it had 2 single comfy beds
Review 75:Very peaceful (in February). Restaurant/breakfast fantastic and worth every penny!
Review 76:too much trash in the perimeter around the beach.
