Reviews for Hostal San Juan

Review 1:No Internet in our room. When asked for room change told we could move to another hotel. Loud sarcastic owner. Code was written in cursive. When asked to clarify told no one has trouble but you.

Review 2:Clean, well located modern hotel.

Review 3:We had a delightful stay. The room was nice and clean. The public areas were nicely decorated. The owners, Juan Pierre and Carmen were very nice and helpful. The location was centrally located in the town. The price was very reasonable.

Review 4:The people who own this Hostel are terrific. Warm and welcoming. The rooms are lovely and they serve a good simple breakfast. Fresh orange juice and excellent coffee. Excellent restaurants near by. The beach is about a 15 to 20 minute walk but the path is interesting.

Review 5:This is a lovely Hostal, the owners were friendly, indeed you kinda end up thinking you have known them all your lives...these guys know how to make you feel welcome...a little walk to the bars and beach (ten mins) but the hostal is worth a visit.

Review 6:No really negative points, other than only street parking is available, of which there was plenty of spaces outside and around the hostel during the day, but after 8/9pm when all the locals finish work and return home, it was a bit of a lottery with virtually no spaces free. It was a good kilometer walk to the beach.

Review 7:Hostel owner was a very cheerful, helpful and happy host. Nice roof terrace with sunbeds. Breakfast was available, but very limited with only toast and jam/marmalade available, but tea, coffee and fresh orange juice was offered. A good range of bars and restaurants close by.

Review 8:The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We found the premises delightfully traditional, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 9:There was nothing much we didn't like except the wasn't a car park close by so every day we had to drive round looking for a space. Otherwise it was very good.

Review 10:Because of my husband having difficulty with walking due to Arthritis of his knees they upgraded us with no extra charge. Also we liked everything about the Hostal and would recommend to friends.

Review 11:Qiuet whilst in centre of town,, very refreshing rooms, public area's and externally, very helpful owners (and dog) And what a bonus.... fantastic value for money.. I have stayed in many hotels internationally that could learn a lesson from here, highly recommended

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Jean-Pierre and his wife are the perfect hosts. Their establishment is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Salobrena is ( in October, at any rate) delightful and we cannot recommend this location and property highly enough.

Review 14:Nice house with patio in very good position for visiting both salobrena historical centre both beaches. Hosts are very friendly and rooms large and clean.

Review 15:Great Staff, super friendly and helpful. Nice and tidy rooms, a beautiful mansion. Breakfast in the patio is really nice. Ray accessible with car, easy parking, easy everything :)

Review 16:Difficult to find, sometimes noisy from the street below

Review 17:Central to Salobrena, room was clean

Review 18:very good staff felt like i was in france and spain at the same time

Review 19:No complaints.

Review 20:Nice family-owned hotel.

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:Traditional nature of the building and decor, sun bathing on roof terrace, fresh orange juice, air conditioning and helpfulness of the owners!

Review 23:The friendly proprietor and his wife

Review 24:Wifi not consistent

Review 25:Air conditioning

Review 26:This review facilty is faulty and should be rectified.

Review 27:Noise from street and from people arriving late. A long way from the good restaurants on the beach.

Review 28:Nice hotel with very friendly owners.

Review 29:Everything

Review 30:More tv channels, more storage space/shelving in shower room needed

Review 31:Atmosphere,decoration,staff and convenience of location

Review 32:The owner makes you feel at home - charming location in the heart of Salobreña.

Review 33:The owner arranged tickets for us for the Alhambra

Review 34:The couple who run it are fantastic - really really friendly and full of very useful information. They helped me a great deal.

Review 35:Would like tea making facility in room.

Review 36:Breakfast - fresh orange juice. Air conditioning. English spoken.

Review 37:Beautiful hotel and lovely rooftop terrace. Comfortable bed.

Review 38:Very friendly owner who was very helpful and attentive. Lovely traditional decor. Very quiet at night.

Review 39:The 'hostal' is very well located in a calm street of downtown Salobrena - it takes a 10 min. walk uphill to the ancient part of the town or equally a 10 min. walk to the beach - ideally located. It is decorated in traditional spanish style, the rooms are comfortable, spacious, neat and very clean. The hotel is run by a very sympathetic Sapnish-French couple (husband is French and speaks Spanish and English apart from his native tongue, his wife speaks French very well) who are very supportive, friendly and helpful with advice. A very nice and excellent 2-star Spanish 'hostal' which we enjoyed very much. Very good ratio as concerns quality and price.

Review 40:Room a bit small, but then that's what we paid for.

Review 41:Very reasonable and characterful hotel within easy reach of both town and beach. The roof terrace is a definite plus.

Review 42:There was nothing I didn`t like.

Review 43:This hostel was very authentically furnished. The cleanliness was exemplary. Quite one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed.

Review 44:The room and bed was small by our standards and we did not get on with one long (shared) pillow. Other than one dining style chair there was no other furniture in the room. It was too small to stay in and we would only recommend this (otherwise) excellent little hotel for people who literally require a bed to sleep in at night. We found one English chanel on the tv. The town and street was noisy throughout the night, with dustcarts at about 0200, cars with screeching fan belts, motorbikes and general noise late night / early morning racket.

Review 45:Probably the cleanest hotel 'in the world'. First class on cleanliness and presentation. Hosts were very nice people although we did not have too much conversation as we do not speak Spanish which made our arrival a little difficult. The decor was perfect. Value for money was very good indeed.

Review 46:Nothing it was perfect!!

Review 47:Everything the Hostal is brilliant, Jean Pierre and his wife made us so welcome, this was our second visit and they welcomed us with fresh flowers in the room. Nothing is too much trouble and they have great advice as to places to eat and drink.

Review 48:Nothing at all!

Review 49:We enjoyed everything in this small and cosy hotel. The friendliness ofthe owners, the cleanliness, the location: parking was not a problem, plus the road does not have heavy traffic, so it was quiet. The roomrate was very reasonable. They would prepare breakfast if you asked for(but the churrerias in town were tempting.) We were very happy to end upour trip in this relaxing hostel and city before heading to MalagaAirport (a bit more than an hour drive from there)

Review 50:Everything about my stay was perfect and there were no negative aspects.

Review 51:An exceptionally hospitable welcome from the owners of this beautiful hotel made this a very memorable stay. As you can see from the photographs the hotel has interior patios which add to the atmosphere of tranquillity. My bedroom was of an incredibly high standard, spotlessly clean and supplied with quality soap, shower gel, shampoo and even cologne. After a long trip to the hotel the complementary bottle of water in the room was very welcome. Everything about my stay was perfect.

Review 52:The bed was a little too firm for me, but not a big deal.

Review 53:Lovely little Andalucian style hotel in the town centre, run by a very nice couple! My room was pleasant, the bathroom was spotless and cleaned daily. Breakfast was great value at £3 for freshly squeezed orange juice, plenty of toast and coffee. 15 to 20 minute walk to the pretty beach and also near the bus station so brilliant for travelling/sightseeing to other places e.g. Malaga, Granada. I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it.

Review 54:Our room was small but perfectly adequate for our short stay. The hostels decor was impressive and beautifully maintained. The owners made us feel very welcome and made excellent recommendations of places to eat.

Review 55:Very friendly people. The room was very nice and clean. The location is near the village center and the beach and the hostal is situated in a quite street. The breakfast, which is served in a wonderful andalusian patio, is great. It's the perfect location for spending some time by the sea and far away from touristic places like almuñecar.

Review 56:No fridge We got a twin room, when we would have liked a double. They should have arranged this on the spot.

Review 57:Friendly staff Clean rooms Value for money Easy parking

Review 58:Salobreña was out of season. It also looked like it was sadly suffering from the recession. The weather was disappointing too.

Review 59:Absolutely LOVED Hostal San Juan. Very friendly host and hostess. Amazing decor. We had our own beautiful apartment which looked onto the roof terrace.

Review 60:Although we had no problem ourselves, parking nearby may prove difficult in busier times of the year

Review 61:Owners extremely friendly, welcoming and gave good advice on where to eat out. Lovely bright room, very clean. The hostal is situated on the flat part of the town, and is in a great position for both the beach and town centre.

Review 62:No negatives - Everything was perfect!

Review 63:Among the most hospitable hosts I have ever encountered in my travels! Thank you Jean Pierre and Marie Caet for such an enjoyable stay. I was delighted to receive such service with a smile in a spotlessly clean hotel. I will certainly return and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for friendliness, professionalism and cleanliness in a beautiful part of Spain. 10 out of 10 for all aspects! thanks again, Jean

Review 64:There was nothing I did not like.

Review 73:Very nice! Hosts are friendly, rooms are clean. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask Jean-Pierre, he is very helpful.

Review 74:No minibars in the rooms

Review 75:Contact with the owner Buidling (typical andalous)
