Reviews for Gran Hotel Cervantes by Blue Sea
Review 1:The slow lifts. The internet wasn't very good in the public area.
Review 2:The easy checking. Polite and helpful staff. clean hotel and room with nice view. Good selection of buffet food
Review 3:charge of 5 euros per day for wifi. charge of 3 euros per day for safe. so if you stay for two weeks and want a safe and want to use wifi that will cost you a whopping 112 euros !!!! . I think that is a RIP OFF.
Review 4:Central location to city centre. excellent choice of food.
Review 5:N/A
Review 6:I liked everything, best place in Torremolinos, Spain to stay. biggest and best buffet in town. The staff are just great. The location is close to train, buses, beaches, and shopping center. I always book this Hotel.
Review 7:Beware if you take a car. It's free parking on the roadside just outside the hotel but the charge 10euro per day to park in their car park. I didn't know this and was charged over 100euro at the end of my trip. That was more the the car rental cost me.. Also pretty noisy at night with people coming in at late hours, will definitely go somewhere else next time.
Review 8:Was cheap....
Review 9:We did stay already twice in this hotel and the atmosphere was fine. Now the hotel turned in an all inclusive hotel with less services and class.
Review 10:Center City Hotel but not far to the beach.
Review 11:When I arrived they said they had overbooked their rooms so they would need to move me to another hotel for one night. They provided a taxi and I moved. On returning to the Cervantes the next day they upgraded me to all-inclusive and an excellent top-floor room, making a bad situation into something very good.
Review 12:Breakfast was very poor for 4 stars hotel, Only the reception staff spoke English, The wifi did not work in the reception and I had to pay for to use it.
Review 13:Food quality not particularly good, lifts are a bit cramped and antiquated and need upgrading.
Review 14:Two minutes walk to Torremolinos station. Large pool on lower level, and also heated covered pool on roof level. Wide choice of good for breakfasts and dinners.
Review 15:restaurant /canteen in basement , not enough hot drinks and toast making facilities during busy breakfast period. Why so few English TV channels ?
Review 16:room and balcony size, pool area and reception.
Review 17:Had to change rooms due to very noisy clients next door. Many of the 'todo incluido' clients, noisy, drunk and bad mannered, not the fault of the hotel.
Review 18:Excellent location. Friendly, helpful staff
Review 19:After asking for a sea view months before arrival not getting one! Plaza Side room consequently noisy! Civilised chaos at breakfast! Go early!!
Review 20:Facilites, cleanliness, comfort of the room!
Review 21:Beds and pillows where very uncomfortable. One of the light bulbs was burnt in the room never replaced. No tissues in the room.
Review 22:Location was good as it was close to restaurants and the train and buses.
Review 23:We had a leak from the air conditioning in the room but I was repaired very quickly
Review 24:great location for the nightlife of Torremolinos and also for the train link to malaga
Review 25:When I booked it with booking.com you had the hotel with the all inclusive. Unfortunately it wasn't all inclusive. We also on arrival where told that we would have to pay for drinks at the bar so we thought this meant at meal time too. But then after our first meal we realised that there where drinks available free with your meals. It would also have been nice if we could have had for a free coffee or tea with lunch and dinner as they where only offered at breakfast time. Also the dinning room was very disorganised having to walk one side of the hall for bacon and then the other side of the room for eggs ect.
Review 26:the hotel had an on roof undercover swimming pool which was great and it was in a great location right in middle of the town. Food was very acceptable.
Review 27:rooms very basic & in need of refurbishment. breakfast service to busy & not very good standard
Review 28:location was good, staff friendly & helpful
Review 29:Dining room was not good.no bowls for the cereal . food was poor . impossible to get near toasters etc at breakfast. We gave up and ate out.
Review 30:The location. Reception staff.
Review 31:Very bad customer service, rude reception staff. Wifi is not free, poor facilities in the room, no tea/coffee making facilities. Poor bed linen, very small bathroom, not very clean.
Review 32:Location
Review 33:A pity I only ever stay overnight!!
Review 34:Location of hotel to Torremolinos train station is ideal as I was travelling to Malaga airport following day. Room clean and spacious. Breakfast a bargain for 5 euros. Staff friendly and welcoming. Have stayed overnight many times when flying from airport the next day and will continue to use hotel.
Review 35:Payed wifi but very poor quality (1MB/s) per 5 € per day. When complained very rude staff in the reception- perhaps they know they selling bad and expensive wifi service.
Review 36:Amazing location, nice tasty food
Review 37:Heated pool wasn't heated, and colder than outdoor one. Noise from bar at night was bad. Apart from one staff lady the rest needed to be more happy and smiley
Review 38:The hotel location is excellent, easy to find and has parKing (at a charge) room comfortable and spacious.
Review 39:The regular pool bar man was very grumpy and quite rude unless you flirted with him !! The food was good but not much variety.
Review 40:Excellent pool with great water temperature Foyer decor spacious and well designed , very tasteful The dining room staff were attentive and efficient and smiled .
Review 41:The pillow situation was ridiculous. Had to ask for more pillows after a very bad first's night sleep. They were provided by the helpful reception staff but they were as poor quality as the ones already in the room. Also the room was smaller than we expected and nowhere near as large as the brochure picture size.
Review 42:The location of this hotel is fantastic. Close to beach shops and restaurants etc. handy too for the train station. The staff are very helpful and the pool area was lovely.
Review 43:Breakfast was of a very poor quality, bacon had no smell or taste, scramble eggs horrible look, wouldn't dare taste it, milk watery , coffee would make you rush to the toilet. In one word. disgusting. We think that a four star hotel should have better quality of food.
Review 44:We enjoyed our stay, the swimming pool was nice.
Review 45:Shame the hotel hasn't confidence or money to explore that bar in the lounge area so big can put on quite a show. But its stuck in two minds all inclusive or the payin cash customer and that's were the hotel problem begins
Review 46:Hotel sea view was beautiful the location was fabulous
Review 47:Small outdoor pool with limited beds - everyone come out first thing to put their towels out. Should offer free WiFi.
Review 48:The price - very good deal. Choice of food is varied. Air conditioned rooms, outdoor pool, indoor roof top pool, gym, sun terrace on roof. Cheap cost of safe hire in room. Central location, near train station.
Review 49:Primarily the food, I took the all inclusive option, for a 4 star hotel the food was terrible I am not a fussy eater, lunch and dinner menus were practically the same apart from roast meats in the evening and paella however the latter two options were standing under lights and not anywhere near a safe temperature to eat. pool far too small for the size of this hotel I am rating staff purely on Juan the barman and the ladies that serviced the rooms as they were impeccable and took pride in their job. Hotel reception were not accomodating. Handed a leaflet on check in that says wifi is 5euros a day, doesnt work in your room at all, then find out of day 4 wifi is free in the lobby, That is not what the leaflet says, money making deceit to be honest, I complained about this too but a shrug od shoulders is all I got
Review 50:The Hotel was centrally located, very near the night life and a lift to the beach was nearby. ( Torremolinos is on a high cliff so you are either up high in the town or in a hotel on the beach) Juan the main bar man during the day and evenings was the most attentive professional guy friendly to all types of customers and a credit to the hotel. It was super clean when it comes to cleanliness of the rooms however cleaers cleaned public ares in lobby and lifts at peak times, looked at you like an idiot when you were waiting for one of the 4 lifts whilst they propped doors open and mopped all 4 lifts and lobby areas when people were leaving dinner maybe neecdding to retire to rooms, the outdoor area ouside the bar on the terrace closed at 11pm, I understand that this is the hotel policy however the security man who made people aweare they had to retire inside at this time was, agressively rude for the clientelle that were there, it was couples and mature singles not roudy groups. Possibly language may have been part of the barrier here however if you run an international hotel you need some language skills for your employees. I myself work for a european airline however I have enough language skills to know a few polite key phrases in french, german italian and spanish.
Review 51:Drunk low quality all inclusive English tourists shouting and yelling... Required to pay full amount on arrival! Low quality breakfast, rude staff.
Review 52:There was no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Review 53:The hotel was spotless, the staff were lovely and helpful. At night one could sleep as the hotel was lovely and quite.
Review 54:Having to go to another hotel on our first night because they had overbooked 5 rooms but they did sort out an upgrade to all inc for the rest of the stay
Review 55:Friendly helpfull staff ,good food and very clean
Review 56:The hotel is dated with the most uncomfortable beds we have ever had the misfortune to sleep in !! The bathroom was so small the door had to be closed to enable use of the toilet. The cost through booking.com was extortionate. Will never use the site again.
Review 57:Staff bad attitude and not helpful especially when it comes to internet. They did not bother and let us talk to support ourself when we had problem.
Review 58:Location and breakfast
Review 59:Decor just a little tired perhaps from its heyday but still very comfortable as everything was very good quality.
Review 60:Lovely hotel and very friendly, helpful staff. Beautifully clean with fresh linen daily. We really enjoyed the meals, plenty of choice with lots of fresh options.
Review 61:TV doesn't work; breakfast is one of the worst I ever had, food choice is limited and completely tasteless; Wi-Fi is outrageously expensive, although connection is good; hotel has 7 floors so it gets crowdie when it comes to using elevators; I would not recommend this hotel to younger people
Review 62:rooms are spacious with large balconies; location is good; upper floors have great view over the sea.
Review 63:quality of products used were poor in particular bread, meat, mattresses are fit for the bin with the worst towels ever, not 4 star standard , Only 1 musical channel + 1news channel in english ,had better in 3 star accommodation
Review 64:location and staff
Review 65:The wifi at 5 euro per day, which is slow as neverseen, while you can have a public wifi for 15€ with great speed. I beleive the foods and drink are for english, german and dutch taste. When i called, reception pretend us the elevator to beach is working,In fact out of order since long!
Review 66:The situation of the hotel and the refund of the all inclusive. I beleive the foods and drink are for english, german and dutch taste
Review 67:Food is very hit and miss, overall customer service was average and little things like you had to pay for wifi and a room safe.
Review 68:Location is great for the train (2 minute walk) and beach (5 minute walk) and views of the sea are superb.
Review 69:Sheets on the bed were too small and kept wrinkling underneath us. The bed was sliding away from the headboard all the time. The sheets were not changed all the time we were there.
Review 70:Liked being on the top floor and the balcony. Location is good.
Review 71:Only free wifi in lobby area - its 2015 for goodness sake and wifi should be freely available throughout hotel
Review 72:spacious bedrooms, clean and central in town
Review 73:The outdoor pool was under construction, the air conditioning wasn't on, the bed was broken, they charge €5 a day for very poor quality wifi AND €3 a day for a safe deposit box??? Please!!! The Lobby looks impressive but the bedrooms need updating.
Review 74:Very Central.
Review 75:Aircon is not turned on until May apparently, until I insisted. Madness considering the heat! Bed leg was broken - changed room. Wifi and the room safe should be included free as in other good hotels. Bad pillows. TV needs some non-Spanish stations. Won't be back I'm afraid.
Review 76:The view from the balcony.
Review 77:ordered a bottle of wine at dinner after (22 ) twenty two minutes had to ask again for service hotel under staffed most of the food was prossesed not fresh.. Meat was always the same cold pork a few days old. On checking out no rooms to change your clothes for traveling home I changed redressed in the recpition area to make a point . plus wifi cost five euro a day. not a four star hotel
Review 78:Wifi should be available for free in the rooms. In those days charge for internet is ridiculous. Also safe in the room wasn't free of charge, very bad for a 4 star hotel.
Review 79:Location wonderful
Review 80:Tired and dated bedrooms Bathroom too small the door gets in the way. 5 euros a day to have wifi in your room No heating in bedroom I could feel every spring in Mattress
Review 81:Size of the room
Review 82:Large stag party booked on a school holiday week was not ideal. I accept the hotel probably needs the business but it might be advisable to avoid booking a group like this alongside families with children. We will probably look for alternative accommodation next year.
Review 83:Hotel is perfectly located. The house team work hard to make the best of a hotel that felt sadly dated & in need of renovation.
Review 84:Cleanlinesses of room bad, no spare electrical sockets for other use, having to pay to rent the room safe. Very uncomfortable mattress, broken glass on terrace & by patio doors inside room
Review 85:Good location, good bathroom
Review 86:no free wifi in the room, only in the lobby and not very strong, lunch and dinner nice but day after day almost the same, it can improve
Review 87:good location, friendly staff, in general a nice beach hotel, with nice pool and arhmosphere.
Review 88:-FOOD- restaurant staff is amazing, but food is quite bad... really bad actually. Dont go all inclusive, so many small bars and restaurants around and the prices are really affordable, enjoy eating out!
Review 89:-ROOM- nice rooms and bathrooms, cleaned everyday (house keeping staff is a really strong point) -CHEAP AND CHEERFUL- great value for money and Torremolinos is a fun destination -LOCATION- on one of main streets, bars and clubs nearby, 2 minutes walk from trains station, 10-15 minutes walk to the beach
Review 90:A little the hotel neighbours were to noise
Review 91:Everything went as it supose to. The hotel was verry good, the staff was good, plenty of food to choose from.
Review 92:No air conditioning in the rooms which was a surprise for a 4* rated hotel, TV was dated and there were no English programmes. Distance to the sea front a 20 min walk or down a large number of steps.
Review 93:Food was very good at this hotel, rooms were cleaned daily, staff were very friendly and helpful for taxi services, baggage etc.
Review 94:Service was poor at the bar, both in the morning for coffee and in the evening for drinks. No barman visible behind the bar for most of the time. Also lifts were inadequate and slow.
Review 95:Upstairs pool and lounge areas very good.
Review 96:English embarassing drunk people demanding 5 star service at a 3-4 star hotel. People running for food and handling it then putting it back. Our European friends who just don't like to move our of your way?
Review 97:Just got back,March 2015.This is our 4th stay in Torremolinos but first time in this hotel. We had a bargain from Booking.com i think with half board rate cheaper than some room only deals. We liked the roof top pool which yes is a bit dated now but clean and had good sun beds which at this time of year were plenty, a real sun trap up there. The food was great if your not expecting English style (your in Spain not down the local UK cafe) Pasta pizza paella fish meats salad and more, we could not fault the food but other Brits did! Breakfast was good also.Oh there were chips and burgers for the kids but looked nasty, who whats to eat that when your in Spain? The hotel is 30 seconds walk to the square and train station which is great, walk a few mins out of town for cheaper wine beer and tapas,we liked Paco bar. If your looking for hard core nights out this is not th place for you, a couple of English bars at the top of San Migel street will rip you off for drinks and are ok for a quick visit if you want a bit of dancing or singing, i wouldn't be there every night! The hotel was busy at the weekend and we did queue for breakfast one morning which wasn't a big deal if you not impatient like some who had to run for there food!! I would not fault this hotel for a week or two stay. The hotel does have all inclusive and i will agree with other reviews that the staff treat these guest slightly different, we had better seeat allocated at dinner at the back of the dinning area and staff seemed more attentive to us. Go stay !!
Review 98:Very very bad tv for hotel of this quality. Paying for Internet im room not good orodern as most hotels offer better
Review 99:Location and general facilities very good.
Review 100:we had a room on first floor above the bar and outside terrace and this could be quite noisy if the bar is busy - better to get a higher floor
Review 101:great location near the train station but quite a distance from the seafront and lift not working
Review 102:The hole room smelled very ugly of earthy. We tried to open windows and door, but nothing helped. We and all our bagage got that smell too after stayed there 2 nights.
Review 103:The breakfast was good.
Review 104:- no free wifi in the rooms
Review 105:- The food was amazing! For everyone there is something and every day they have different food. - View from the balcony - Location: a walk to the beach and very close to the trainstation and the city centre of Torremolinos - There is a fantastic hairdresser closeby (Felix Miau, only works on appointment) - The hotel offers tours - On Saturday we had live music
Review 106:Quality and variety of meals was excellent, and the restaurant staff ensured that all dishes were kept fresh, and topped up until the last few minutes of service. The terrace outside the bar overlooking the garden is an amazing sun-trap (even in February)
Review 107:THE FOOD AND KITCHEN STAFF LET THE HOTEL DOWN. NO BEEF ON OFFER ALL WEEK, WITH KNOW IMAGINATION SHOWN ON VARIATION ON DISHES. WE WALKED OUT ON A FEW OCCASSIONS AS THE FOOD ON OFFER LOOKED DISGUSTING. ON TWO SEPERATE OCCASSIONS KITCHEN STAFF PUSHED TROLLIES WITH HOT FOOD TO WITHIN INCHES OF ME, ONCE DIRECTLY BEHIND AND ONCE TO THE SIDE. NO INDICATION GIVEN WHICH RESULTED IN VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, BEWARE IF THERE ARE ELDERLY OR YOUNG PEOPLE. WE COMPLAINED ON BOTH OCCASSSIONS BUT DO NOT THINK THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENS
Review 108:ALMOST EVERYTHING - MOST STAFF WERE EXCELLENT AND VERY HELPFUL.
Review 109:The location, for a winter break was good, in the center of the town very close to the train station and bus routes. The pool area was ideal to lay in the lovely winter sun. The WiFi in the hotel reception area was adequate.
Review 110:No complaints.
Review 111:Very convenient location, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful view from the balcony (I had a corner room overlooking the Med.), ample variety of beverages and supply in all-inclusive.
Review 112:Food/drink quality.Half board dinner: almost no choise of sea food (same fish cooked 2 ways).Drinks-juice from concentrate wich tasted awfull. No tradicional spanish food, except saussage -chirozo-There was a lot of food coocked without love, therefore not tasty. It may be excuse for big hotels, but I have been in other monstrasity hotels on beach and food was -real spanish experience(meaning tasty). Bed quality hard to comment-I think they haven`t been changed since opening. No extra pillows. Room design VERY outdated. Also noise from connecting rooms door.Literaly can hear neighbour walking, talking, showering. Hotel owners should consider to update the whole facilities.Starting with Tv from 80`s.Don`t You want the guests to come back?
Review 113:Location,next to station.Massage chair near free wifi zone.View from room balcony.Rooftop pool, nice swim on sunny day.Staff very helpful.Breakfast choise, good bakery.
Review 114:The beach is a little bit far avay. Maby You should take into account people who do not eat pork, because every morning for breakfast only serve salami, bacon, smoked ham and other meat products from pork. Also for dinner on the same grille for roasted pork and fish or some other type of meat, what bothers people who do not eat pork.
Review 115:Location is excelent for those who came to explore Andalucia. Hotel is very clean, comfortable, and big. Very good choice of food.
Review 116:The hotel is not very disabled freindly the roof top pool is on the 9th floor but the lift only goes to 8th i was strougling to get a lift up or down as they quite small lifts, the hotel was full of football players from holland & germany they were a nightmare coming in drunk and going round peoples doors in early hours of the night because they forgot what room they were in if i had known they were there i woud't been there.
Review 117:The food was good and it was cleean
Review 118:Having to pay €25 for wifi in room. Food same 7 nights per week. Roast always pork. Pillows very thin, uncomfortable.
Review 119:Nice and spacious public areas. Room staff very helpful.
Review 120:The wifi wasn't include in the room .so every time I want it to use the wifi I have to go down to the reception. Also lift very busy at all the time .sorry 4 me it wasn't 4☆ .I would give 3☆ .The room was very small . For 4 of us . 2 adults 2 children
Review 121:There is only free wifi at the reception. You need to pay 5€ a day to have wifi in the room.
Review 122:The breakfast was varied and not as industrial as in other places. Since we are vegetarians we appreciated little details like soy milk, fresh fruits, etc.
Review 123:reception staff not very friendly . the front desk staff always seem grumpy!!!!! Bed matresses should be replaced with new ones
Review 124:location and near train stn and town center
Review 125:The weather, but hey, the hotel can't be responsible for that!
Review 126:just got back from this hotel and yet again really enjoyed being there, firstly it's situated about 2 minutes from the train station in Torremolinos and Torremolinos station is only 10 minutes from Malaga airport (4 stops), at reception we asked if we could have corner room facing the sea, this is normally a little extra but as it was quiet there they changed our room and we didn't pay extra. We always ask for extra pillows when we arrive and they turned up within minutes. Food and drink is excellent and a really good variety, i'll be going back there gain in Jan, Feb and March, great place to go for winter sun - but we did have a little rain this time. i've not been there in the summer so couldn't comment on what it would be like when it's busy!
Review 127:No wifi in room and couldn't get TV to work. No tea/coffee making facilities in room
Review 128:Room spacious, and clean. Bathroom nice. Balcony had good view even though we were in a side room. Staff friendly.
Review 129:The buffet food was of very poor quality.
Review 130:The position of the hotel. It is in the middle of the centre and everything is within walking distance. Very nice room and both indoor and outdoor pools very good.
Review 131:Pesonal. 1 Point down for cleaning staff that DESPITE DO NOT ENTER entered. They should be reprimended.Sign was even in Spanish. 2 Some grumpy old man on reception. So many Young unemployed foreign language fluent persons in Spain No smiles.no good English in check in .They needed passport and if <I tried to explain abt Schengen and national ID he was taking Deep breath ready to explode I gave him passport/I had it for something else on me/ with words" I did not came to argue to argue"- but Spanish used thei national ID.Would be nice to know if passport is obligatory in Cervantes- and avoid if yes and u have only national ID acc to Schengen rules.
Review 132:Most Indoor swimmingpool.Fantastic Construction mostly solar heated rooftop.Nice rooms.Great quality of food even if it tastes as baby food. But with many old folks and some Babies they are on a safe side.Nice dining room staff.Nice 1 lady at reception.
Review 133:all-inclusive guests are served beer in a small wine glass and although the hotel indicates that there is in-house entertainment, this only takes place on Friday and Saturday nights.
Review 134:Very nice hotel in a good location, however during my stay I drew the managements attention to the fact that many all-inclusive guests regarded it an insult to be served beer in small wine glasses, but apart from that the hotel is fine, with good food and snacks available throughout the day,and yes I will make a return visit.
Review 135:Dining room packed and noisy and resembled a bun fight both morning and evening. Even for mass catering the quality of the hot food was extremely poor.
Review 136:Nothing. Stayed there mny times over the years and will return.
Review 137:The staff went out of their way to be kind and helpful: even changing our room at no cost when the knew we had just married.
Review 138:Everything at the hotel is old and worn. Especially, the lifts do not work properly, as there is only one lift working at a time, and the other lifts waiting.
Review 139:The good thing at this hotel is its location.
Review 140:not very friendly staff pool aera not very clean very noisy bedrooms people very drunk around bedrooms late at night
Review 141:good location near shops restaurants lift to beach
