Reviews for Hotel Marina Victoria
Review 1:But there is no parking nearby and the doors need to be renewed but goot value for money
Review 2:The staff are friendly and the hotel, although basic, is clean and comfortable enough.
Review 3:We often stay here en route to Morocco and back. The staff are friendly and the hotel, although basic, is clean and comfortable enough. In warm weather I opt for a room with a balcony, it looks over the port and at night time the twinkling lights are quite magical. It is good value for money.
Review 4:perfect location for exploring algecira and for early morning port departures. nothing special, a solid place to hang your hat at a very reasonable price.
Review 5:Double bed was old and bowed in middle No bar fridge No breakfast but cafes everywhere
Review 6:Great view from 6th floor over port facilities and Gibraltar. Close to cafes Close to plazas
Review 7:Not 5 stars, but very good as 2 stars - as advertised.
Review 8:Easy access to the port, train and bus stations. Comfortable room. The area may be considered as an introduction to Morocco, including Moroccan typical food and language.
Review 9:Negatives--intermittent internet and a noisy air-conditioner.
Review 10:Hotel marina victoriaThis is a budget hotel mainly aimed at people transiting to and from Africa, so one's expectations should not be too high. Having said that, I do recommend this hotel. The room was simple, but clean and with a good, hot shower. The multilingual staff were very friendly and helped a lot when we had problems with an inter-city bus we missed. The location is convenient to the train, bus, and ferry terminals. Algeciras itself is a pleasant city. The hotel itself is in a Moroccan neighbourhood, so there's an interesting choice of restaurants nearby.
Review 11:The entrance - too many rude on lookers - but that's all part & part of this area!! Wouldn't be deterred by them :-)
Review 12:The whole experience - staff extremely polite and accomadating and although it wasn't possible to have a port view with balcony, l really didn't mind.lnfact l felt very relaxed and enjoyed the unexpected peace.
Review 13:No parking in the immediate area. Vehicle left in unsecure parking.
Review 14:Close to Algeciras port and centre. Room availability at high season and good price.
Review 15:Across the road form the ferry wharf. Simple and clean. Good ad very cheap restaurants nearby especially Restaurant Alakzar. Staff helpful a basic hotel.
Review 16:Staff very helpful. Clean and tidy. Excellent location for ferry and buses. Great fruit and vegetable market nearby on a Saturday morning. Not sure if it happened everyday but was a great market
Review 17:Horrible mattress and pillows. The deadbolt key lock only unlocks from outside, so if someone has the key, they could lock you in. The inside lock is tiny and weak. Very thin walls. Could hear all the loud men in the hall talking til 3-4am.
Review 18:Good location near port if taking early morning ferry.
Review 19:Bed had seen better days. Wifi intermittent. Cafes either side of the front door had a slightly daunting clientelle - very African. Parking accross the road to the left - clearly marked "Gratis 24 hr" self imposed "attendants" will find a space then try and charge you and issue some bogus ticket if you daft enough.
Review 20:Close to station and town centre
Review 21:room is very basic and the lock on the door didn't seem great. the area around the hotel at night isn't the best but it is a port after all
Review 22:great location and a great price if you are just looking for a night for somewhere to stay. it is directly across the road from the ferry terminal and 5 mins walk from the train and bus station. the room is basic but does a job.
Review 23:Locals, of Moroccan appearance, hanging about and sitting at tables outside that could put off many couples staying at this Hotel. It turned the whole area very grubby and threatening.
Review 24:For one night, very convenient for Ferries and clean. Man on the reception very helpful and polite.
Review 25:Unfortunately no food and not many suitable places to eat nearby. Eat before you arrive and breakfast on the ferry.
Review 26:Excellent location for ferry to Ceuta. 10 mins easy walk.
Review 27:A little run down and dated. In a pretty rough area - street-walkers and tramps rummaging in bins on the street at night.
Review 28:Just cross the road and you are at the Ferry Terminal. Cheap and cheerful. Basic. OK for a overnight stop.
Review 29:We had two rooms, one of which the sink leaked all over the floor. We had to use our towels to clean up the mess. When we asked for more towels, the man at the front desk was very upset with us and made it clear that it was a major imposition to get us more towels. The TV did not work very well. It took 10 minutes after turning it on before an image appearred on the TV. The image then cut in and out. When we first checked in we were given two rooms on different floors. When we asked for rooms to be on the same floor the man working at the desk again behaved as if this was a big imposition to move us.
Review 30:This hotel was in a convenient location to the ferry which is why we stayed there. The hotel was clean and our room had a nice balcony.
Review 31:air conditioning is not enough. quite cold during at night.
Review 32:great location, the hotel is close to the train station, the autobus terminal and the port. which means it is very conveninet to go to gibraltar via the bus terminal, and across the harbor to north africa via the port.
Review 33:No breakfast option may put some people off but that is all
Review 34:This hotel is an idea place to start your travel by ferry to Morocco. They have all you need to get you refreshed with plenty of dinning options near by for you to choose from.
Review 35:The neighborhood is terrible, filled with creepy men lurking just outside the hotel and filled with prostitutes working the street. This is not a good hotel option for female travelers. The hotel had bed bugs. Spend a little more and stay somewhere better! You've been warned.
Review 36:The location is just a short walk to the ferry. This is the only good thing about this hotel.
Review 37:One of the beds had not been changed from a previous occupant, as we realised in the morning as a bunch of cud d we don´t speak Spanish curly black hair was found on the bottom sheet, it was too late to complain as we were in a hurry to leave, and we don´t speak Spanish and felt a bit intimidated with all the African men sat at the front of the hotel
Review 38:Whilst i loved the shower with high pressure water, you can hear anyone else using their shower/bath. Water system needs quietening but that all i did not like.
Review 39:Clean, well laid out and comfortable. Did not expect this quality for the price. Came from Morocco, got to get out every 90 days to extend visa, via Tarifa and you could see hotel from shuttle bus stop. Bus station for Gibraltar just 200m behind hotel. All very convenient for our trip of 2 nights. Wifi Brilliant. We will return in December.
Review 40:We used this place for an overnight between the ferry (from Tanger) and the train (to Barcelona). Really easy to find and an easy walk to the ferry and the train station. If you head left from the entrance you will find plenty of ATMs and places to eat. The backpacker area is tucked in behind this hotel but for one night we just wanted a place we could find easily. The staff were great - older guys and that was kind of comforting.
Review 41:This hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to both bus and train stations in Algeciras. It was clean, reasonably comfortable for only 1 night, and very well priced. It was nothing fancy, but we were very pleased with our stay.
Review 42:The surrounding area of the hotel was pretty awful. Did not feel comfortable walking around!
Review 43:Location was great, room was clean and a good size. Good value for what we paid.
Review 44:The place is run down. Very outdated.
Review 45:The location was perfect for taking a trip to morocco. It was situated right across from the marina where you catch the ferry. The staff was so nice and very helpful.
Review 46:Great location near the harbor
Review 47:Room not twin 2 attemps put right
Review 48:Central location
Review 49:A bit gloomy. Next time I will stop in Tarifa rather than Algeciras to catch the ferry.
Review 50:Convenient for the ferry. Not BSD restaurant next door.
Review 51:Silence clean and space
Review 52:N/a
Review 53:Perfectly situated
Review 54:Location.
Review 55:Old. Expensive. Uncomfortable.
Review 56:Nothing
Review 57:staff
Review 58:No parking even it stands at the website, so 15 euro extra.
Review 59:But run down. Very basic.
Review 60:Location is excellent right next to the port. Price is great.
Review 61:- location. Strange people around hotel - Air conditioner in the room old and loud
Review 62:its located in not really nice surrounding, rooms are small and not really nice
Review 63:average hotel, actually low average
Review 64:Not in the nicest part of town however well located for transport.
Review 65:Good location and viewgood
Review 66:we were on the top floor with a wonderfull view of the port
Review 67:Across the street from the ferry terminal, 5 minute walk from the train station, clean and cheap.
Review 68:Location
Review 69:Clean but basic, perfect for the ferry to Ceuta or Morrocco
Review 70:I was very cold at the time I stayed. Plus 1 - 2 decree Celsius, and there no heating in the room. Car parking not available
Review 71:Great location for catching ferry to Morrocco. Opposite the port.
Review 72:People coming in 2am onwards noisey, People in room above telly on at 7am also moving beds ?.
Review 73:Position
Review 74:Noting fancy but a good place for the price.
Review 75:I enjoyed the good wifi and the clean room. I would recommend this to others.
Review 76:Great place to stay if you wish to take the boat
Review 77:Very lose to the ferry port, coach and train stations Good value
Review 78:Air con not working. Noisy, walls too thin.
Review 79:Convenient for ferry but would recommend you just travel straight through Algeciras
Review 80:Size of the room, friendly staff.
Review 81:Watch out for mosquitoes.
Review 82:It was a comfortable, older hotel, close to the marina.
Review 83:Area was not very nice - full of guys having trouble with the police.
Review 84:Close to train and ferry. Supermarket close by.
Review 85:Excellent location , friendly staff
Review 86:Surrounding frontage area was a fairly poor. Wifi was very intermittent.
Review 87:Very convenient as we travelled by ferry from Tangier and the ferry bus dropped us across the road. As we were leaving by train it was very convenient to bus ( to Gibraltar) and train stations.
Review 88:They tried to charge my credit card without first consulting me. The first night I spent there I had no hot water; the second night I had hot water but no electricity... I do not recommend this hotel to solo female travelers - outside the hotel there were always big groups of only men, who didn't look too friendly. I was glad I was with a friend...
Review 89:Its location. The hotel is conveniently located close to the bus and ferry stops.
Review 90:It is near the port and handy for the ferry to Ceuta. I also liked the fact the desk clerk was helpful and got us a discount at the Car Park nearby. Simple, no luxuries, but clean and functional.
Review 91:Nothing worth mentioning.
Review 92:Very good wifi. Great location near train and bus stations. Nice, wide balcony. All in all much better than the current rating (6.8).
Review 93:In front of the hotel, at night, countless homeless imigrants stairing at us, scandals in the night, creepy. Hotel needs renovation. Staff doesnt speak english.
Review 94:Cheap, close to the ferry and heliport. Old, but clean bathroom. Nice view.
Review 95:Double beds in Spain are unfortunately always quite narrow and way too short for two tall adults :( ...therefore the nights weren't too refreshing
Review 96:Friendly staff, room size and bathroom size was good. We had a balkony with a great view over the harbour towards Gibraltar.
Review 97:The hotel feels run down and did not include breakfast. It is located in a bit of a shady area--not family oriented at all. There is a lock and key for the electricity which was strange to us.
Review 98:We were coming off the ferry from Morocco and were able to walk to the hotel. It was also walking distance to the bus station so that made it convenient. The front rooms have a view of the Rock of Gibraltar.
Review 99:Super convenient to ferry port, bus station, train station. Hotel was Spartan, but clean, nice view of port from our room, good wifi connection. Restaurant next door was easy stop for take-out (or eat-in) pastries, sandwiches, pizza, etc. At $40. for the room, it was a great value, but don't be looking for luxury.
Review 100:No wifi on 6th floor, so staff allowed me to change room to 5 th floor. Everything else is fine.
Review 101:Staff is excellent, helpfull. Location near port, beautiful view. Near a lot of halal restaurant. Walking distance to bus and train station. Room and toilet spacious.
Review 102:No security lock on door. The area around the hotel is pretty run down, but its not bad for a night to catch the ferry.
Review 103:Hotel is across from the ferry terminal. Not much else around the area. Couple of places to eat right around hotel. Try the Indian Kebab place. The room was fairly big, bed was comfortable. Shower OK. Wi-Fi worked in room. Ask for room with view and balcony. Extra 5 euro.
Review 104:The furniture in the room is simple and obsolete. The stone room'sfloor is cold and the old air conditioner can work for cool only (andno other heating so the room is cool in winter). The bed is flimsy andsqueaking. There is no real sound insulation from nearby rooms andfrom corridor.
Review 105:The hotel locates just in step distance from ferry to Ceuta and otherdestination. There is big free parking in near the port (however on yourown risk). There are few supermarkets just nearby. The room is cheap andis very spaciuous. The bathroom has bathtube and bidet. WiFi is free andwork stable and fast.
Review 106:Ola bouking gracias para prigo ta de hotel victoria de lmar mas o minos no desa yona et mot hcas ruido et doutcha nobali nada
Review 107:Jinti de hotel moy bien trakilus
Review 108:Dim lights along the room corridor alley.
Review 109:Great warm shower, beds were comfortable enough. There were 2 Halal food joint just next to the hotel. Bus station within 5 mins walk. Budget hotel but they provide toiletries!
Review 110:It has no car park and although parking on the street and the dockside area is free - it is often difficult to find a place close to the hotel. Also, the hotel is a tall building with no fire escape that worried us somewhat. Pity that the hotel doesn't offer breakfast!
Review 111:It was convenient for the railway station which is the reason that we needed to stay in Algeciras (to travel on the picturesque line to Ronda). It was certainly good value for money.
Review 112:its perfecly located, just opposite the harbour and 5min walk from main Bus- /TrainStation. Please book the balcony-rooms with the gibraltar and harbour view. Strong WLAN-Internet. Restaurant just a doorstep with mainly locals.
Review 113:No food available and not much choice of eating places nearby.
Review 114:The staff are friendly and welcoming. I chose a room with balcony over looking the port, an interesting view. Very handy for ferry terminals to Morocco.
Review 115:Algeciras is quite a rough area - not a good representation of the rest of Spain. There are lots of people who just stand around doing nothing all day.
Review 116:Very nice staff and very nice hotel.
Review 117:Bit loud at night, cause hotel is close to the harbour...
Review 118:Good location right between bus-/trainstation and harbour. Light, spacious room with balcony and a great view over the bay.
Review 119:Algeciras is just a big port only visit this region if you are taking the ferry to Morocco many poor or homeless people nearby
Review 120:peace and quiet in the hotel great value for money
Review 121:The fact there were no food or drink facilities in the hotel. In Ireland hotels provide a kettle, a few teabags & sachets of coffee in each bedroom so that guests can make tea or coffee.
Review 122:Its location beside the Arabic & other ethnic restaurants. Its proximity to the port.
