Reviews for Hotel zum Bären
Review 1:Everything! I love this hotel! The owners were super nice! They showed me everything I should know ( like the bus time table, what is free entrance, where is the bakery). And I could have hot water to drink!!! And the location is good! in the city centre! It's near (10mins walk) to Black Forest Museum and the 1000 clock's store.
Review 2:Excellent host. They helped very much in planning travel within black forest. With given guest card we were able to travel for free in all local transport. Entry to triberg water fall was also free.
Review 3:The pillows are super thin, they would need some replacement.
Review 4:This small hotel is just perfect for a short visit to Triberg. And the hosts are very friendly!
Review 5:I loved the staff/ host Peter and his wife Elizabeth, the were amazing and lovely. They took good care of us and they gave us great tips and advices to do more activities in the Black Forest. The location is perfect near the famous waterfall and many restaurants and shops are 2- 5 min walk away.
Review 6:A small bathroom was the only thing we didn't like, but then you don't spend your stay in the bathroom.
Review 7:Hotel Zum Baeren is an older hotel in Triburg, well located both for Triburg and other points of interest nearby. The owners Peter and Elizabeth are outstanding hosts. No request was too much as they went out of their way to meet our needs. They even provided washing facilities for dirt cloths.
Review 8:The location is great, the owner was very nice and welcoming. the breakfast (with an added payment) was very good. room is clean and tidy. value for money is great. although the rooms are 'old' and not fancy. but they are sufficient for a budget continence traveler(s)
Review 9:This is the best boss I have ever met. They are kind and they are like the age of my grandma and grandpa :) they are the kindest person I have ever met here. They give me lots of information about triberg and the buses or any other place in Black Forest . They are so nice that they give me Konus card without me asking. They also give me boiled water for free if you asked for it. They are so nice... I don't want them to work too much, they are the age of my grand parents ... But I want them to be happy and have more money ... So:))
Review 10:The Internet is not good connection
Review 11:The position is convinient, just between the wasserfalle and the train stain within a walkable distance, and also with bus for just one stop. The room is clean and comfortable, I didn't book breakfast there so I do not know. I have to talk about the guest card, it is really over value, you could travel in the city and out of city with bus and train using the card, I booked my tickets to Freiburg already before I went there, but with the guest card, it is free!
Review 12:It didn't bother me at all, but if you're after a modern-looking place this may not be the best for you - it looks like the decor and fittings haven't been changed since the 70s (at least!), but everything is spotlessly clean.
Review 13:Elisabeth, who runs the place, is so lovely - very warm and friendly, made me feel very welcome, and when I told her I enjoy walking she lent me a map and suggested different routes. The location was perfect for me - in between the waterfalls and the train station (a 10-15 minute walk to each), which made it easy to do trips to nearby areas (especially with the free train travel you get as a hotel guest in Triberg!).
Review 14:There was no wifi in our room. Torn towels old furniture. We could listen the cars from the road in our room
Review 15:Personal is very kind. Easy to find because is in the main road of the village
Review 16:nothing! I love everything here :)
Review 17:The couple who runs this hotel is very, very friendly. And the meal they offered is a huge plate and absolutely tasty. Also, the breakfast, I strongly recommended anyone who lives here should order a breakfast for It's the best breakfast I have in Germany so far. This hotel is sure to be a little old-fashioned and does not offer much entertainment, but who needs entertainment in such beautiful settings, in the Black Forest? And I love the homelike atmosphere. Would definitely come back again!
Review 18:Bathroom is a little small but cosy :)
Review 19:Very friendly owners. They provided us with informative guide to go around triberg, we also received free passes to visit the waterfall. Very good service.
Review 20:I loved everything! Peter and his wife were absolutely amazing. Hewelcomed us with open arms, not only showing us our room, but alsoexplaining everything we needed to know about the town. And when we cameback to him with questions, he answered us with a big smile on his face.My boyfriend and I traveled Europe for 3 weeks, and Peter was by far the kindest host. I would highly recommend staying here! I loved it and I hope to go again.
Review 21:It was pretty hot in our rooms, but that can't be blamed on the owners. Just something to keep in mind when you travel there in summer. Also, we found two big black spiders in our room (probably from leaving the balcony door open over night to get a breeze), but the owner came right in with a vacuum and sucked them up. :)
Review 22:Loved this place! The owners are the sweetest people you'll ever meet and they cooked us a fantastic multi-course (home-cooked) meal for dinner. It was amazing! And what a great price. We'll definitely stay here again.
Review 23:close to the train station, all attractions around triberg within walking distance. hotel gives you the kronos card which give you free admisson to the waterfall and free transport around the black forest
Review 24:No elevator, the room was fine, but the halls and lobby were hazy with cigarette smoke. WiFi did not work in the room, only downstairs in the lobby or restaurant. Brass band was practicing in the restaurant during the evening, but they did quit by 9 pm. Bring your own soap as none is provided.
Review 25:Great location, friendly staff. Comfortable bed and clean room.
Review 26:This was the most welcoming 'mom and pop' hotel I've ever stayed in. The couple that runs this place are so kind and helpful, they knew exactly how to make a couple of young, inexperienced travelers feel right at home.
Review 27:WIFI in common areas only; no hair dryer, soap or TV.
Review 28:Family run, proprietors very helpful and friendly; near train station and downtown; parking and KONUS+ card included.
Review 29:Wifi was not available in our room but wasn't an issue and the towels were a little bit small but for one night they were fine
Review 30:They made us feel very welcome and our visit was wonderful. Will come back
Review 31:Walls are a bit thin. Wifi does not work in the rooms. We had to go in the hall to get a signal.
Review 32:The lady who runs this hotel is very kind and friendly. You can't beat the price and it is just down the street from the attractions in town. It has a very cute exterior; however, the rooms are plain and dated.
Review 33:No television, wifi was available in the community area and not in your room. The hotel is located on the one major road through Triberg. Great for backpackers.
Review 34:Price and the fact that it was a German club.
Review 35:- not very strong wifi signal in room (but you can still access to wifi in the common areas, the signal there is fine)
Review 36:- friendly staff - location is good
Review 37:Mattresses were a bit too tired.
Review 38:Super clean! This is not a modern hotel, but the old-style decor has been impeccably maintained. You'd mistake it for Retro - but we're pretty sure it isn't. Could be haunted- not sure. Could be twinned with the Overview Hotel-not sure. Staff were friendly. We had no time for breakfast, but coffee was good.
Review 39:Super nice owners, excellent food and very comfortable rooms! Also, it was walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go in the town! Bonus free parking.
Review 40:There wasn't much to dislike, only the towels were line dried and a bit rough and small. No amenities in the room. We asked for soap and got 2 tiny hand soap bars. Still, for the price and location it was good. We didn't order breakfast the night before and went to sit in restaurant for breakfast and the owner said she would have to go back to the market to pick up items to make us something. We opted to go to a cafe for delicious pastries/coffee/tea. I thought it was thoughtful that she offered to go and pick stuff up to cook for us though. Not really a negative, just a reminder to order the breakfast the night before :-)
Review 41:The owner/staff was very helpful when we checked in and although the bedrooms were very plain (no amenities, no tv, etc.) we were only looking for a place to sleep. The location is excellent if you want to visit the Triberg Waterfall. Walking distance to restaurants and cafes.
Review 42:the house is pretty old, and bed will make a noise when you moved, no wifi in the room, you have to go out side of the room to get the wifi.
Review 43:the host is really nice, and the location of the room is nice too.
Review 44:The hotel is very old. The walls are very thin and insulation from the street is poor. Hence, you can hear clearly cars in the street and the guy snoring in the next room (no joke). You also have to share the shampoo with the other rooms. And the orange jus is from a very cheap brand.
Review 45:The wifi was not available from the room and at most of the places in the hotel.
Review 46:The location, the staff and the rates are very good. The owner lady was so kind and helpful. She gave us a lot of information on places to see around Triberg and also provided us passes for the museum, transportation and the water falls. There are good restaurants and cafes around this area. Parking is easily available. Though the hotel is basic, it's definitely worth for the money you pay. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and off course stay again if I visit Triberg.
Review 47:The old madam is very kind and the room is comfortable. Very nice location, it just costs 5 mins to walk to the 1000 clocks shop and 10 mins to waterfall. It's worth in this price!
Review 48:Wi-Fi coverage was extremely spotty and almost unusable in-room.
Review 49:This family-run hotel was most accommodating to our travel group's needs, including late check-in and even managing to provide dinner at such a late hour (perhaps necessary given the lack of alternatives). Great food! Overall, very welcoming and made our stay a pleasant one.
Review 50:The building generally needs a big upgrade. Bathroom was tiny yet functional but considering the room rate this is ok.
Review 51:Staff were helpful and promoted their region well. I was given a discount card that enabled savings from entrance fees to train travel. Room was comfortable.
Review 52:Hot water takes at least a minute to get hot, run the sink before you jump in the shower!
Review 53:Staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Decor was dated, but clean and in good condition.
Review 54:No TV in room. Room was very dated, needed refresh. Couple of light bulbs burned out in room.
Review 55:Family owned & operated. Clean, inexpensive, but in need of a refresh. Good location near Triberg center & water falls.
Review 56:We were given the KONUS card for the whole time of stay. That allowed to save costs on traveling around. Wi-Fi allowed stable voice calls. Staff was very helpful with places to visit and directions.
Review 57:Wonderful owners that are very sweet and helpful. Wifi didn't work in the rooms but the lounge area on the second floor had good signal. We loved out stay and hope to visit again.
Review 58:Owners spoke excellent English and were very friendly and helpful in helping us plan our days in the area. Excellent meals came from the kitchen! The Zum Baren is an older accommodation but very clean and quiet.
Review 59:Room smelled strong of smoke (must have forgotten to request non-smoking room) A little noisy from traffic on the street, but quieted down after 8 pm or so.
Review 60:Very friendly and helpful staff Good food Nice Bed
Review 61:There is really nothing inside your room except a bed & useless closet. No TV, no slipper. Water pressure is poor & unstable . Bedlinen is clean but so old!
Review 62:Typical family run Geusthaus. Nice location, 15min walk from train station. Center( where you can get food and Schwarzwaldtorte) and waterfall extrance are in 10 min walk. Room is old but clean and spacy. Nice host, give us free entrance ticket & public transport ticket.
Review 63:Centrally located with extremely accommodating owners. CLEAN rooms albeit dated. We very much enjoyed our overnight there and free tickets to the falls, free parking and wifi a plus. Would deffinatley stay again and reccomend.
Review 64:They need to provide fans. It was hot. They had just redecorated. You could still tell that someone had smoked in the room previously. The pillows smelled like old smoke. But I would stay there again.
Review 65:Only thing was no wifi in room but there is a lounge by the stairs and it had good wifi.
Review 66:The owners are wonderful. So very helpful and kind. It's where I would stay on a return visit
Review 67:Interior is quite outdated. But it is good and fair enough for one night staying.
Review 68:Free parking and free WiFi. The owners are very helpful and we got free entry tickets for some attractions. You won't hear too much from the clock tower hill up! That's good!
Review 69:Wifi access was spotty to non-existent.
Review 70:Staff was excellent and were beyond friendly. Location was central to many great things including the Waterfall at Triberg.
Review 71:The owner was very friendly and informative. When we reach there, immediately she guide us on touring in Triberg. Most importantly, the owner is very kind. Supposedly we only stay for 1 night. The next day, our train to Fussen is 10pm, and a day before we have inform owner that we wanted to just rent a couple of hour of stay in the room as we dont want to wait on the train station due to very cold weather. And she did us a favor by offering free to us. However, in the end, we still pay her a minimal amount for her kindness. Most importanly, owner was very kind and helpful. Its really a great place to stay. More than value for money.
Review 72:There wasn't a reception per se so you had to do everything on the restaurant. Also, cash only is acceptd to pay for the room, it would have been nice to know that before.
Review 73:It was Ok for the value
Review 74:It was a Really good experience to stay here. The hosts were so kind and helpful who gave me lots of useful information for my trip. I'm really grateful for that!!! The room was clean and nice too!!! I'll definitely recommend it.
Review 75:Service was excellent. Hotel was old but clean. Meals were well made and reasonable price. Walking distance to most places. All in all an enjoyable stay
Review 76:No lift
Review 77:Pick up from railway station
Review 78:Towels were scratchy and limited. No hand soap available. No tv.
Review 79:Very friendly staff. Proximity to town center.
Review 80:Very dated decor, I found it slightly unsettling. Everything smelled of cigarette smoke.
Review 81:Friendly staff.
Review 82:Smelled like smoke, no breakfast, slow dinner, no soap in the bathroom
Review 83:Owners were very accomodating with local suggestions and providing food for a very reasonable price. Comfortable little room
