Reviews for Hospedaje Lisboa Algeciras
Review 1:I could not get the telly to work, so I read a book. This wasn't an issue for me but if you're hooked on watching TV, it may be for you. To be fair, I did not ask Rosa for help as it was quite late when I tried and I didn't want to disturb her. She may have been able to fix it easily.
Review 2:Perfect location, 5mins from the bus and train stations, 15mins from the port on foot. Rosa is very friendly and speaks many languages - very handy! The map they gave me had all the info I could possibly need, and they even held a bag with winter clothes for me during the two weeks I spent in Morocco, for free. I stayed twice, and both rooms were very comfortable, with clean bathrooms and comfy beds. Apparently, the tapas bar underneath the hotel is very good, but for some strange reason was closed on my first stay (a Sunday), and I arrived at nearly midnight on my second stay, so did not have a chance to try them.
Review 3:This place is not very modern. The kitchen did not have an oven and there was no kettle. Both frying pans were broken. Also, it was too cold, especially in the bathroom (this was in december).
Review 4:The family that runs the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The location is good - close to the bus station, train station and ferry terminal. It is very good value for money, at least in the low season.
Review 5:The hostess was very stressful in demanding payment first and not being able to pay by card was a nuisance. It's very noisy in the room, you can hear people in the next room and other properties nearby, but this is a very cheap hostel so I can't complain
Review 6:The hostess was very pleasant, room was clean and the location is very good
Review 7:A quick 5 minute walk from bus station and ferry. Close to shopping area in town. Staff very friendly, a basic room, great value. Nice place to stop over while travelling,
Review 8:The street noise is loud and annoying if you are on that side, so ask for a room at the back.
Review 9:We have stayed at Hospedaje Lisboa on 2 separate occasions. The ever cheerful Rosa is there to welcome you home when you arrive. The room size is fine and the beds are incredibly comfortable! Good showers with lots of hot water.
Review 10:Friendly family-run guest house. Hospitable reception with lots of agenda-free information, maps, tour brochures and bus time tables. Downstairs neighbour is a deservedly popular tapas bar, so constant evening buzz inviting you out (also free wifi). Room and bathroom clean, decent size, and functional. Close to bus station, train station, and ferry port. Coffee bars half a block away for breakfast.
Review 11:The cafes and bars close early on a Mon Tues Wed.. You need to preplan for dinner
Review 12:The most cheery and helpful Receptionist/owner The location is central to town and 5 mins from the railway and bus station.
Review 13:Walls were thin, we had really noisy neighbours but that is not the fault of the accommodation. Place had washing machine but no dryer.
Review 14:Manager/owner of this place was very knowledgeable and fluent in English, which made it easy for us. He told us what we needed to do to cross the strait of Gibraltar to get to Morocco.
Review 15:wi-fi was week in room
Review 16:great place! lady in reception was very friendly and helpfull and also funny. if ever i go back to algeciras, for sure i will sleep there again.
Review 17:Weak wifi on the terrace on the roof, but no complaint really.
Review 18:Bed was good, wifi also. One of the best hostels I've ever been too, much due to the atmosphere and people working there, as the hostel was a tad run down; But clean!
Review 19:Noise coming from the restaurant next door till late at night.
Review 20:Rosa is an amazing person to talk to. She tries to make your stay as smooth as possible.
Review 21:Nothing unless you don't like stairs
Review 22:Excellent value for money! Central down town location and only 10 mins walking distance from both train station and port. Comfortable, clean, safe and very welcoming owner and staff.
Review 23:The rooms are basic, but very clean.
Review 24:Rosa, in reception, speaks excellent English and makes you feel very welcome in Algeciras, which is better than advertised. The hospedaje is right in the town center, with abundant good tapas choices. It is just a few minutes walk from both bus and train stations and is a good base for visiting Gibraltar for the day.
Review 25:All good!
Review 26:had a private suite, quiet, very friendly and staff who take pride in their work and are knowledgeable about the area. Excellent pre-arrival communication, including maps of the area, spare books to read, large communal kitchen and lovely terrace at the top of the building
Review 27:Cons: There was no elevator. The dining and kitchen areas are in the partially open roof top.
Review 28:Pros: It is a family owned and operated hostel. The owners were very welcoming, always with a smile on their faces, specially José was very helpful and knowledgeable about all my travel queries, and his suggestions were fabulous. It was centrally located - shopping and restaurants, grocery stores, as well as public transportations are 5 minutes walking distance. The single room set-up was fabulous! It's like a hotel, yet, one can cook and do laundry! Very clean room and bathroom and linens.
Review 29:- It was difficult to find a perking space near the hotel - During the night we we bitten by insects, probably bedbugs((
Review 30:Really friendly owner of the hotel and tasty and not expensive food in a cafe near the hotel
Review 31:If you get a b&b in town very difficult to park
Review 32:The staff could not have been more helpful ,my car got towed away and thay took me to the pound to get it back ,be warned do not park anywhere in Algeceras you should not €130 fine
Review 33:Room was pretty hot, bed not very comfortable.
Review 34:Great location, very close to bus/train stations and the port! Friendly staff, full kitchen available.
Review 35:the manager/owner is extremely accomodating, helpful and efficient. More than this he gave me the money back for cancelling one night there because i was hosted by some friends. Highly recommended
Review 36:No air conditioning, but fan. I had to wake up the car noise on the street in the morning.
Review 37:Very kind staff, very comfortable facilities. There's terrace on the 3rd floor to have breakfast which I prepare in the kitchen. Good wifi.
Review 38:The hostel is in tue center of Algeciras. The owner is very nice and she will help you planning your journey in the town Andrea in the near city of Tarifa.
Review 39:Property needs installing air conditioning. It was very hot to sleep with fan on and opened window
Review 40:Rosa is amazing person. Room is clean and bed is comfortable. It was quite to sleep overnight
Review 41:The shower screen was broken. The water would flow out on to the floor. The room is poorly ventilated owing to neighbouring buildings. It is very hot in there. They ought to have ceiling fans.
Review 42:Despite its shortcomings it is great value for money. But it really won't take much to make this place awesome.
Review 43:The stuff in the hostel were super friendly. When I was asking the waysto the port, they even took me there. They tried their best to help withmy every request. I enjoyed talking to them very much.
Review 44:Too noisy as if we are sleeping on the street since the hotel is located right above a crowded tapas bar.
Review 45:The hotel owner is really hospitable and cheerful. Very close to the bus and train station.
Review 46:On my arrival before I was greeted I was told to stand at the counter for 5 minutes while the reception clerk finished reading whatever is was that he was reading. Not the end of the world but not exactly a warm welcome either as it felt a little demoralizing standing there while he read. However after I had the receptionist's attention he was gracious and gave me a map and list of events for the weekend. To begin with the WIFI didn't work at all and reception told me that they would reset the connection. They did so and after I had only a limited connection so I wasn't able to get online. The location isn't bad but not the best and it wasn't easy to find even with the map I was sent. In terms of the price well it's pretty good by Europe's standards in terms of a private room. I was however able to find another room for my second night in town at a better location for almost half the price. Although the other room didn't have an ensuite bathroom. The room itself at Hospedaje Lisboa was clinical with bright white bare walls and a tile floor lacking any sense of character. There was a television in the room but I couldn't get it to work not to say that it didn't just that I couldn't be bothered going to reception again to have it fixed or exchanged. The morning after I checked in the cleaning lady walked right in my room with her key and saw me in my towel and quickly left with a parting shriek.
Review 47:The room was clean and had an ensuite bathroom and shower. The facility was equipped with a kitchen to cook and store food which was practical.
Review 48:The double bed is quite small and the pillows and blankets are shared, which may not be very comfortable for friends (fine for couples I guess XD).
Review 49:Very close to train station (5 min walk). Very welcoming staff giving very clear explanations about this small town. It is a family business so all the people (including the friends of the family) are very nice and friendly. The bathroom is quite decent, better than my original expectation. Wifi is quite good.
Review 50:Very noisy street outside by late hours (having no aircondition in the room we had to sleep with windows open). But, I asked for the room with a balcony, so I had it coming. And in another circumstances it would be enoyable anyway.
Review 51:Great little family hotel in the promiximity of the port (convinient if you travel by ferry). Very friendly and helpful lady owner. Nothing is too hard for her. Very clean room. Great value for the money.
Review 52:It's right above a tapas bar, too much noice for most of the night.
Review 53:The lady running the hotel is very friendly and nice, makes you feel at home. The hotel is within walking distance to the bus station.
Review 54:There is no breakfast. In my room was little problem with wash-bowl. And that is all.
Review 55:Very friendly staff - señora Rosa. Good wi-fi on each floor. Near this hostel you may find place for your car. At the upper floor (roof) there is kitchen and place for rest. At the ground floor good bar. Ferry port about 10-15 minutes to walk.
Review 56:The TV was hard to figure out -- only a minor problem. Also, be sure to watch out for the step up to the bathroom, I slightly stubbed my toe on it.
Review 57:The wonderful host got up at 1am to let me in! Thanks so much!!
Review 58:even though it is very near to the port, the roads leading to the hotel is quite confusing
Review 59:the staffs are very friendly. they will tell you where and how to go, restaurants with discounts, info on transport, etc. our room was big and comfy. the toilet is clean. the location is very near to the port, train station n bus station. stayed there only for one night, didnt get to explore Algeciras that much.
Review 60:Arrived very late, well after midnight, but hotelkeepers stayed up and accommodated all our needs, and helped us with sightseeing the next morning. Recognizing the hotel is not supposed to have many amenities, we were pleased that everything we encountered was ship shape.
Review 61:The matras was too hard and old so, in combination with too much light in the room I didn´t sleep very well.
Review 62:The room (studio) was big enough, clean and with a good shower. Te staff is friendly and really helpful
Review 63:The only annoying thing on this trip is traveling by ship, 5 hours of delay without anouncement even the weather was very good.. and the responsibles at the port let people without any information..it was realy poorly organized...
Review 64:This beautiful hostel is on the city center within a cute neighborhood... The atmosphere there is cordial.. Very recommanded for families and Rosa is so pleasant :)
Review 65:Very nice hotel with a great location: right in the city center, 3-5 minutes to the bus and train station, 7-10 minutes to the ferry port. Around hotel are plenty of cafes and shops. The personal is great: tell you all the options (how to get to Morocco, to Gibraltar, what to see in the city), do everything to make your stay a comfortable one. The rooms are basic, but you have everything you need: bed, hot shower, wardrobe and table. I stayed in two different rooms on my way to and from Morocco and both of them were clean and nice. There are no noise around or in hotel which is an important thing if you want to have a rest. A great option for Algeciras.
Review 66:TV did not work in my room and one of the electrical outlet was not working.
Review 67:This is family run business and the lady at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. She spoke excellent English. This was conveniently located close Bus station and Train Station so it was 5 mins walk to Bus station for us. The room had strong wifi signal and bathroom was very clean.
Review 68:Room was a bit cold and humid. Towels, sheets and blankets needs an update.
Review 69:Excelent location, great staff. Rosa is a lovely host always willing to help.
Review 70:The studio apartment where I stayed didn't get much natural light (overlooking a small inner courtyard) and was a bit cold, but it was December and the owner provided a heater, so very minor issues!
Review 71:Amazing facilities for the price, fast wi-fi, very friendly family staff, perfect location for bus/railway station and the city centre.
Review 72:I pretty much liked everything because they were very friendly.
Review 73:I like the location as its situated in the middle of the city centre. Great customer service and they speak English haha.
Review 74:There was nothing that I did not like.
Review 75:I stayed in a hostel the previous night and they charged me the same as this place. However, this hostel was way better than the previous one. The rooms were big and comfortable, I loved the decorations, we had a T.V in our room, the staff was polite and really helpful. I would definitely go back and recommend it.
Review 76:if to think: just may be stairs ,but for most of peoples shouldnot be problem
Review 77:location is good, morover near is very good restoran MONTES(around corner)which i very reccomend.also very close to the bus station and centra; streets. BED and PILLOW was very comfortable (unlike in other hostels which i stayed in same trip).ALSO good food place just below hostel...shower and toilet in the room.
Review 78:The stairs.
Review 79:This is definitely low frills accommodation but it is within easy walking distance to both the railway station and the port. Jose gave us excellent advice on getting to and from Gibraltar and Tangier. It was a shame we didn't speak to him before booking our ferry to Tangier.
Review 80:Downstairs is a very good tapas restaurant open late. Go for it. Nice host, good recommendations. Close to the bus and train station. Close to port. Very central. Clean. Spacious. Nice terrace upstairs.
Review 81:a bit noisy if window was left open, no air conditioning
Review 82:nice rooms, very clean and comfy. Super friendly and helpful staff. By the train and coach station, so easy to reach as well as to head towards tarifa or gibraltar.
Review 83:Very good Hostel and actually looks better than on the pictures. Clean and staff is everyday on service. It´s hard to find better one almost anywhere for this money they ask. And Wifi is as well good for work, etc.
Review 84:The owners of this hotel are extremely helpful and very friendly. The rooms are spotless and the kitchen/terrace area clean and well-equipped. So good we're going back!
Review 85:Staff very nice and helpful, location central and near to ferry harbour, Room is clean and not to small, Towels are included, Tips for visits and assistance for travel to Marocco by the staff
Review 86:Owners(Jose and Rosa) are very friendly and kind. They gave me many information about staying. So I enjoyed not only Algeciras, but also Gibraltar,Ceuta and Morroco. Gracias!!
Review 87:The room 212 is not good at all(I think this room maybe is the only 1 has big problem,we changed it the second night),if need to use this room, highly suggest the owner set this as a single person room to avoid complaint
Review 88:Very well located, and good communication Highly recommend their nearby Monte Bar for Tapas dinner (leave hotel, turn right then then turn left, only 2 minutes away in total)
Review 89:The hostel is upstairs from a noisy bar. Since it has no air conditioning, you have to keep the windows open in the summer. It is hard to get a good night's sleep because of the noise.
Review 90:a window in our room was facing an inner tiny patio, and it was very stuffy, as there was no air conditioning. very hard to sleep
Review 91:very clean, very helpful staff with excellent English, good location, good bathroom, very good price
Review 92:Very clean. Helpful staff that gives accurate information regarding almost anything from things to see to transportation. Close to the port and bus station. Excellent value for money.
Review 93:The manager, Rosa, is fantastic - very friendly, good spoken English and full of information on how to get around and where to go for eating and drinking. I appreciated the communal kitchen as I was staying for a week and it's nice to be able to make your own food. Good wifi connection. Very clean. Well placed for both the railway and bus stations and I'm guessing also for the ferry to Tangiers.
Review 94:nothing
