Reviews for Hotel Norte y Londres
Review 1:The room are a little tired, they could do with a face lift but the hotel has character of the Spanaish style.
Review 2:The position was perfect, next to the pedestrian area of the City so sightseeing was easy, lots of great coffee shops to have breakfast in. Our room overlooked the square which added to the stay.
Review 3:Bad and erratic WiFi, rather poor breakfast for such a posh hotel (no buffet, had to wait for a nice lady, who does not speak a single word in English, to bring stuff which was not really good). The room was not really cleaned during our stay. The windows facing into the square were sound-proof, but I guess that in summer when they must be kept open at night, all the noise from the square would get into the room. The noise from the other rooms was audible, too.
Review 4:Excellent location in a picturesque square at the edge of the old town, close to the Cathedral, the Castle and main sights. A nice building with art-nouveau interior and furniture. The receptionists are very helpful and speak good English. The room and bathroom were fine and furnished with everything, except hangers for overcoats, which should be located near the door.
Review 5:Heating was at a comfortable level but could do with better control. I couldn't see how to vary it.
Review 6:Great location near the cathedral. I walked from the bus station with ease. Big room, comfy double bed.Overlooked the square. Very good price (I stayed in November so less pilgrims/tourists). Friendly staff. Clean. Didn't take the hotel breakfast but ate locally in bars instead. Wooden floors in room and many parts of the hotel cause a bit of noise but elegant, part of the old fashioned feel of the place- and nothing wrong with that. I'll try to stay here next time I'm in Burgos:). WiFi worked well.
Review 7:Nothing was bad.
Review 8:We loved this hotel in the old centre of burgos. The hotel felt like you had stepped back in time but was comfortable and charming. We had very good and extremely cheap meal just two minutes walk away.
Review 9:promised a double bed and were offered very poor singles the tomos are hopelessly old fashioned
Review 10:Liked the location but this hotel is unsatisfactory and badly needs an up grade
Review 11:We loved the Hotel. Great location. Would love to return to Burgos what a beautiful stop on The Camino. It was a we bit noisy as we were on the square and it was a holiday weekend.
Review 12:Nothing!
Review 13:Very welcoming, helpful staff. Great location. We were given great advice about local restaurants etc. Comfortable and quiet. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on it,
Review 14:Some of the reception staff made me feel like a naughty child on several occasions, when they were making requests of me! Limited amenities, for example totally useless hairdryer and then a look of horror when we asked if there were others available (there aren't). Beds are quite uncomfortable but fine for a couple of nights. Floors are wonky so be careful if you have more than one glass of wine, but of course there's nothing the hotel can do about that. Would have scored higher if it wasn't for attitude of some staff.
Review 15:Great location, beautiful reception area and large enough rooms depending on which one you get. This hotel is great if you are walking the Camino and need the luxury of a hot shower and a long bath, or are briefly visiting the city.
Review 16:Creaking bed and floor. Too warm. Limited breakfast room - good job everyone wasn't breakfasting at the same time.
Review 17:Location and value. Convenient for the cathedral.
Review 18:I was there over the National Holoday weekend (Sun., October 11) and was charged more than double the regular rate. I paid 100€ for a very basic hotel. The room was somewhat dingy, and the bathroom tap sprayed water in the air. I didn't need/want to watch tv, but the set was old & about 13". The breakfast on offer for an additional 6€ was dismal; white bread & muffins in packages. If I had paid the regular rate of 45€, I probably wouldn't the so annoyed.
Review 19:Location was good
Review 20:The male receptionist who (eventually) checked me in wasn't particularly welcoming on my arrival and kept me standing waiting for his attention for no apparent reason, then had to be worked for information regarding parking, sights, etc. The lady on checkout next morning was much friendlier.
Review 21:Superb position for stepping out into the gorgeous old town, and I was able to park within a blue-line space on a street nearby at a very reasonable hourly rate (free Sundays and holidays). I opted for no breakfast and was able to enjoy a fab choice of tortillas, sandwiches, croissants, cakes and good coffee in the many local bars of the old town at very low cost (a breakfast feast for under 4 euros). My room was large and gracious, though quite simple - no complaints.
Review 22:You could tell that they used to allow smoking in the rooms, but we opened the window and there was no problem at all.
Review 23:Perfect location in the old section of town, right on the Camino path. Our room was big and the bathroom was huge. The hotel is old with lots of character. We would stay here again.
Review 24:Poor wifi in the bedroom (but excellent in lobby).
Review 25:Location, sense of place in terms of well picked 1910 reception room decor, comfortable facilities, nice street view.
Review 26:Insufficient light in the room - as in many Spanish hostelries. No facilities to hang clothes in the bathroom (common to all bathrooms in Spain)
Review 27:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Having an elevator to go to the higher floors. Central location.
Review 28:Breakfast was served by friendly staff, but was skimpy for the price.
Review 29:Well located in the city, in an area with numerous restaurants and close to both the Plaza Mayor and the Cathedral. It's right on the Camino de Santiago.
Review 30:Wifi coverage was poor. Very rarely got a signal in my bedroom and even at reception it was weak.
Review 31:Right in the heart of historic Burgos and very close to the Cathedral. Surrounded by excellent restaurants and bars.
Review 32:No air-con in our room, so had to leave our windows open, encountered a noisy Saturday night Spanish party town. Sleep a bit difficult. (Jealous I wasn't involved :-))
Review 33:Lovely comfortable hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Central position perfect. We were able to leave our motorbikes right outside the hotel.
Review 34:We were there on a Friday and that night there was live music in the plaza in front of the hotel. Very loud until past midnight. Was tough since we had to get up very early.
Review 35:Nice hotel except for plaza music.
Review 36:Vehicle access for unloading not obvious. Need to enter pedestrianised area via controlled barrier should be explained. Might also be helpful to identify recommended parking is in Plaza Espana.
Review 37:Good location within pedestrianised area. Room fine, breakfast good.
Review 38:A bit difficult to find a parking spot nearby (if you do not want to use the hotel parking)
Review 39:Excellent location, in the heart of Burgos. Very convenient to enjoy the tapas and nightlife, but no noise from the street at the room.
Review 40:Didn't have breakfast because it seemed a bit overpriced - and the hotel wasn't that cheap. Why can't they just include it?
Review 41:Lovely old decor and comfortable rooms right in the centre of town.
Review 42:Actually after making the reservation, we didn't stay in the hotel because we weren't aware that there was no air condition in the room, and it was July and the temperature was above 35 degrees. I couldn't breath. The beds are old fashioned and the floor is granite. It's nothing fashionable. Of course after we made the decision not to stay, the front desk personnel converted to a bad mannered one after being nice and polite.
Review 43:Acesss and parking are frustrating, especially for older visitors not familiar with city restrictions.
Review 44:Carefully. Restored and maintained historic building. I would have liked more information about the building's history.
Review 45:Room was small and had cigarette burns on the bedspread and mold in the shower. No balcony and the window overlooked an alley with ventilation pipes from a nearby restaurant that made the room hot and smell like cooking grease. Awful experience for 70 euro a night!
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:Perfect location right on Camino de Santiago close to plaza mayor, catedral, restaurants, shopping..just where you want to be. beautiful old style of furniture, bathrooms new and everything very clean
Review 48:Breakfast was disappointing. The food was nothing like the picture in the hotel lobby.
Review 49:Rooms were very good, beds very comfortable. Staff in reception very helpful and friendly.
Review 50:The bed was extremely firm (hard) and we did not find this particularly comfortable.
Review 51:Fantastic reception staff who spoke Spanish, French and English. A quaint building in the heart of Burgos within easy reach of all the sights.
Review 52:There was NO airco, so we had to keep windows open in the night. Excessive noise by drunk people in the streets during the nights kept us awake.
Review 53:The building.
Review 54:I would love to have been able to stay another few nights!!
Review 55:This hotel was full of old world charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel s location was excellent and close to cathedral and old town.
Review 56:There was a smell of cigarette smoke that seemed to come into the room while I was at breakfast - I don't know if this came from the room next door, downstairs and / or if there is something up with the ventilation??? It's 2015 so I'm incredibly surprised that anywhere in Europe still allows smoking inside hotels - I've visited much less developed countries than Spain that don't. Even when I smoked I wouldn't have smoked inside a hotel room. It's a pain because I am travelling Ultralight and a few of my clothes now smell.
Review 57:A really charming old fashioned hotel. I had a shared room and it's probably the most impressive shared room I have ever had. The bathroom was huge! Lovely helpful staff. Excellent location and well sign posted. Just a wonderful place to stay.
Review 58:I was given a poor room on the third floor. I have stayed here before, and know there are much better rooms on the second and first floor. Also very expensive on Saturday nights.
Review 59:Great location, good breakfast
Review 60:Bit of noise from the street but that be more or less eliminated if windows shut.
Review 61:Really nice receptionist who humoured my attempts at speaking Spanish! Great central location near the tapas bars and cathedral.
Review 62:Nothing really but the bed was a bit Spanish - firm. It's not a luxury hotel and bit dated but clean and comfortable and great for one night.
Review 63:Location. Everything is a step outside the door. The photo does not do it justice. The balcony overlooks a pleasant square. The main tapas quarter starts 30 m away round the corner. Despite this it was not noisy. They let us park two motorcycles under the windows on the street outside the hotel for free and it felt safe. Pleasant cool lounge and helpful staff. Great value.
Review 64:The wooden floors on the bedroom landings echoed all night with over guests shoes ,wafer thin bedroom doors and walls .flushing the toilet was so loud and the volume of water used the whole of the hotel could hear Forget breakfast prep area looked poor, coffee like gravy day old bread
Review 65:Town center location ,comfy beds
Review 66:No breakfast but what the hell. Stuff happens and plenty of cafes outside to get breakfast.
Review 67:Really comfortable hotel in a perfect location. Super staff. Ok - a problem the day I left when the breakfast did not appear. Some problem with coffee machine and staff. Get a life. Don't scream at the receptionist like one guest did. Walk outside and go to a cafe. I thought this was a haven after a couple of weeks on the Camino and I would definitely recommend it.
Review 68:Wifi doesn't cover all the rooms.
Review 69:As pilgrims on the camino de santiago, this was luxury. Overall, happy with hotel except for wifi which we could not get in our bedroom. Only in reception.
Review 70:Nothing.
Review 71:Overall, excellent. It was my second stay at the hotel, travelling from the south to Santander on my way back to the UK, and will use it every time I am passing.
Review 72:Good location, within walking distance to main sights. The hotel has a homely country feel, with a relaxed no-fuss air about it. The view from our window was spectacular with church towers and bells close by. Plaza Mayor and the Cathedral only a few minutes walk away, and several great cafes and restaurants on the way.
Review 73:the walls seemed to be thin and I could hear the people in the next room walking and turning their keys in the door, etc.
Review 74:Its location was great. The room was cosy. Wifi was okay.
Review 75:Great location, easy walk to local restaurants and the city centre is on your doorstep, staff speaking good English. There is ample street parking on the one way system as you approach the hotel which is then a short walk away, just need a bit of luck there is a space as you approach!!
Review 76:The floor was very squeaky in our room.
Review 77:We liked our old-fashioned room. The bathroom was big enough and had all we needed. WiFi was fine. The location was perfect and the price was very reasonable.
Review 78:I stayed in a female dormitory. I was worried when I used the toilet because the bathroom door had latch but it didn't work.
Review 79:The staffs are very helpful and friendly. The hotel location is perfect, it's not far from the Cathedral of Burgos. There is everything around this neighborhood, restaurantes, clothes shop, coffee shop, bars, etc.
Review 80:The fee WiFi was not functional. Not sure what was going on
Review 81:The location was amazing. It had alot of old world charm and was very pretty. Couldn't believe how good a price
Review 82:Not really a dislike, but it was a bit difficult to find without sat nav.
Review 83:It was convenient for what we wanted to do. Nice restaurants close by. view across the Plaza from our room window was smashing
Review 84:Noise from the street woke us a few times Shower over the bath is harder to use
Review 85:Great location Pet friendly Warm comfortable room Very helpful Stall
Review 86:Expensive parking, but that's not really the hotel's fault.
Review 87:So much character as you enter the hotel, you immediately feel welcome and the staff are very obliging. Central to everything, we had a fabulous stay. Highly recommended!
Review 88:Not all reception staff had effective English. The central heating in rooms was only on for part of the night. In one of two rooms I used the exposed north facing windows made the room unacceptably cold and I woke early shivering each morning.
Review 89:Location. Decor. Good modernisation. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 90:would have liked a fridge but it didn't matter much
Review 91:Location was absolutely central, close to cathedral. Across the road was a cafe for breakfast - we didn't want to pay extra for a big hotel breakfast. Underground car park was close - usual cost about E13 a day. Stylish old fashioned hotel - looks much more expensive than it was. Great value rates in late October. Comfortable bed, nice room - some street noise but not bad - inevitable in such a central location -ask for quiet room. HUGE lovely bathroom, with bath/shower. Had elevator/lift for upper floors. Staff helpful
Review 92:We booked this for 34€ per night breakfast was optional at 7€ we took it,mistake ...it was very poor but as we were en route to Santander itgave us an early start. Also there is no secure parking other thanmunicipal car parks which cost 15€ so the overnight stay of 34€escalated to 65€.I know I am a grouch but I should probably have bookeda better hotel with car parking and breakfast included, which I did lasttime. However I did enjoy the Hotel and location.
Review 93:Location great,5 mins from the magnificent cathedral a great place tovisit, steeped in history and El Cid's tomb.We were here inNovember coming up from Andalucia on route to uk were temp droppedfrom 22*c to 7*c and it was cold.We noticed our room had no ac forsummer visitors but the ancient central heating worked well.Burgositself has a good buzz the bars and restaurants were busy andlively.I've been here a few times now and will come back althoughif this hotel I'd dummy the breakfast. As there is a good cafe afew yards away that opens at 9am.
Review 94:It was a bit noisy. The people upstairs must have been moving the furniture because we heard the dragging of the beds(?) for a long time. It was very hard to find with the GPS because of the weird tubes that block the street the hotel is on. And, the parking is far away from the hotel itself, but you can park in front of it to unload and load the car.
Review 95:The hotel was in the center of town, very clean, staff very helpful, near a bar where we had breakfast and supper. Rooms were spacious and very nice bathrooms.
Review 96:The bed was to hard not enough pillows and no Wi Fi Access
Review 97:The staff very friendly excellent restaurants a short walk away Cathedral Amazing also a very short walk away
Review 98:breakfast was disappointing
Review 99:could find no fault with the hotel. loved its old fashioned character and general feeling of warmth and cosiness. refreshing after staying in paradors and other "designer"establishments.
Review 100:I would like to encourage the management to un unambiguous non-smoking policy. A non-smoker sign at the entrance of the hotel is not enough. My room smelled of cigarettes; so please remove the ashtray from the tables and install smoke detectors.
Review 101:I appreciate the efforts of the hotel in the pilgrim-brothership. The atmosphere is homely. The infrastructure is a bit dated, The breakfast is served, no buffet. The location is excellent, in the heart of the historic town. Free public parking on a few hundred meters of the hotel.
Review 102:It is true that one can hear noise from the other rooms but my neighbours were not noisy and didn't disturb me.
Review 103:Excellent situation, pleasant hotel, nice room with a typical balcony, clean, confortable. Very nice and friendly people at reception.
Review 104:The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. All speak English which was very helpful. The central location was perfect. I would recommend the breakfast option as there was a lot if variety and in a charming breakfast room.
Review 105:Very noisy locals late at night but double glazing helped.
Review 106:Exceptionally helpful and friendly reception staff member who spoke excellent English and assisted with every need. Great location. Very comfortable hotel with Edwardian era elegance and atmosphere.
Review 107:The hotel was difficult to find with the directions given. Located in a large enough pedestrian area. Alot of street noise at night. This is a 2* hotel. Parking was difficult.
Review 108:The price was good. A good spot to meet camino pilgrims. The 3 bed family room was too small but a very good sized bathroom compensated.
Review 109:The plumbing was noisy and we could head people moving about and out of their rooms quite early.
Review 110:The hotel is spacious and clean. It is in an excellent location and in general we were very pleased with it. We would definitely stay here again
Review 111:No complaints
Review 112:The Hotel staff were great The chap on the reception could not do enough to help you from guiding you to all the different locations and recommending places to eat and so on. It was right on the Camino so when them tired legs had noting left take a seat in the reception and chill The check in was quick and painless Room was clean and quite shower was great and good value for money This was my second stay here
Review 113:Whilst the staff here were very helpful, the hotel itself is very tired. It looks as though it has had a facelift, but corners have been cut. In our room every inch of the floorboards squeaked, there was a cigarette burn in one of the bedcovers, the TV was small and old with a set-top box. Amongst the breakfast items were Carrefour "discount" yoghurts. Getting to the hotel by car is off-putting as you have to gain access to the pedestrianised area through an access control system. Car parking in the area is very expensive
Review 114:This hotel is situated in the pedestrianised area near the centre of Burgos.
Review 115:Breakfast needs work US$9 per person. At this price in this quality of hotel we did expect fresh pastries and fresh bread and expresso coffee maker. Unfortunately our money would have been better spent at a local restaurant.
Review 116:Our room was very clean and our balcony overlooked a nice street. The hotel is close to the Cathedral and the downtown core.
Review 117:should have better wi-fi and computer facilities, perhaps a selection of newspapers in the lobby. cannot fault it otherwise.
Review 118:excellent staff, corteous and knowledgeable. Comfortable rooms , good bathrooms The right location, silence at night good breakfast
Review 119:Breakfast was very poor - not worth bothering with.
Review 120:The hotel was right in the heart of the city, had a great sense of style and the staff were very helpful. The room was huge airy.
Review 121:The rooms are very shabby, broken mirror and chipped bathroom tiles. The person on reception was efficient but not welcoming. We thought for the facilities on offer it was overpriced.
Review 122:The location is excellent. The linen, towels and the room in general were perfectly clean. The hot water was HOT and plentiful.
Review 123:/ We enjoyed very much this beautiful town and our stay at the hotel.
Review 124:One of the better hotels on our three-week journey in Spain. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. Everything was fine, also the breakfast. At night it was quiet (our room was located along the shopping street, not on the square but I'm not sure if that makes a big difference). At walking distance from the busstation. At the other side of the shopping street you had the square with the cathedral.
Review 125:The staff are extraordinary and will go out of their way to accommodate any request. The hotel is perfectly located and the rooms are super clean with everything you need and nothing you don't.
Review 126:Breakfast was over-priced & could have been better presented for a hotel of this calibre. Everything was pre-packaged & delivered to the table so that there was no choice
Review 127:Very close to Burgos sightseeing & on the camino walk. A charming hotel which was very comfortable & perfect for a stay in the city
Review 128:None.
Review 129:It is in an excellent location just in the pedestrian town centre and very close to most places of interest. The room was big, clean, very quiet, and comfortable with a nice view of a monument opposite to the hotel. Full Wi-Fi access worked fine. Staff was always very helpful and friendly. Price was reasonable.
Review 130:Breakfast was so so- all prepackaged and no choice Wifi only available in the lobby
Review 131:Lobby was very cozy Room was spacious, nicely decorated and very clean - good atmosphere Location of the hotel is great
Review 132:Nothing. This place can do no wrong.
Review 133:This was my fifth time staying here and I will never go anywhere else inBurgos. The staff are incredible. They bent over backwards toaccommodate my father and his search for "the perfect room"(which he found). They also made arrangements at a fabulous restaurantto open early for us since we couldn't wait until the European 8 or9pm for dinner. It is in the center of old town, but very quiet andincredibly clean.
Review 134:No Air conditioning so it was stifling at times and the noise at night from the street kept us awake, We had to keep the windows open to let air in as there was no air conditioning but the noise then was non stop all night every night. If we shut the windows it was sweltering.
Review 135:The location was excellent right in the heart of Burgos. Rooms were big and clean and staff were helpful.
Review 136:cracked tiles in the bathroom had to go through pedestrian area in the car - saw a van get wrecked with the moving bollard!!
Review 137:authentic spanish decor great views, with lovely balconies very central
Review 138:it is hard to find entrance if you come with a car
Review 139:the location is good , good value
Review 140:The beds and tv's
Review 141:Everything except the beds and the tv
Review 142:Very Nice location..........everything was really fine.........
The Fine Print
Please note that the hotel is located in a semi-pedestrianized area. Guests are entitled to park outside the hotel for up to 20 minutes in order to unload and load.
