Reviews for Abba Burgos

Review 1:Although guests travelling with dogs have to stay somewhere I do not think the Abba Burgos hotel is the place for them. Having previously stayed at this hotel and been kept awake by the adjacent room having a dog in it that was barking during the night I had to request a room change. This is the only time I have ever complained about my stay at an Abba Hotel. In my opinion dogs should not be permitted.

Review 2:Reception Staff were extremely professional. They were polite, courteous, friendly and very efficient. The female restaurant staff for breakfast was excellent. She was very welcoming and greeted us as we entered the restaurant. She made sure we were happy and she took pride in her work. This is why my wife and I love staying at this hotel.

Review 3:No hot drinks facilities in room (but there was free coffee etc in the lounge during the day).

Review 4:The spacious room, terrace with table and chairs, black-out curtains, cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, and location. 4-star luxury at a reasonable price.

Review 5:Booked a non smoking room Got a non smoking room which smelt very strongly of stale tobacco and had to sleep with the window open all night as it choked us

Review 6:Location staff and hotel

Review 7:I would not have booked if I had known beforehand that there was a very high charge for car parking. It was €16.75, a crazy price. Should have been advised at outset of booking. Should be blaming Booking . Com I suspect.

Review 8:Excellent location if you wish to visit Burgot Cathedral

Review 9:We were very pleased that the hotel has secure parking. The hotel is in a good location, just a few minutes walk from the town centre and our room was clean and spacious.

Review 10:Air con didnt work

Review 11:Perfect position for easy walking access to main tourist sites. Polite and helpful staff, clean comfortable room and excellent breakfast of good quality and plenty of choice.

Review 12:Car parking charges were high for non secure car park. Little information on Burgos on display or offered.

Review 13:Excellent location, very close to Cathedral and historic area Good tourist hotel

Review 14:We were allocated a room with a bathroom which was wheelchair user friendly, which was fine for us. However the space on either side of the bed was very narrow. We wondered how anyone using a wheelchair would be able to get into bed. Wheelchair users should ask hotels about space before booking .

Review 15:good central location, friendly staff, good facilities

Review 16:The car park is really good but very very expensive. that would be the only reason why I would struggle to justify being in the hotel for longer stays.

Review 17:Everything. Amazing hotel for the price

Review 18:Restaurant shut due to wedding and on Sunday's although cafeteria provided meals and snacks which were adequate.

Review 19:Good room and attention to detail in bedroom. Pool and sun terraces very nice. Great value for money would go back again.

Review 20:Car park charge at 16 euros a touch steep, but it was secure parking under cover and very convenient. There was not much of a lounge area to sit in. Apart from those two aspects, there was nothing to dislike.

Review 21:Only a 5 minute stroll to the cathedral and old town. All staff were very helpful. The restaurant provides first class dining. The Menu del Dia at 18 Euros, was the most incredible value for money and of excellent quality. The overall value for money of this hotel was excellent.

Review 22:Only found wifi wasn't great

Review 23:Second time visit traveling from the Algarve to Bilbao.... Clean, friendly great location to walk into town and welcomes our dog

Review 24:Check in was a bit hit and miss - took a long time and they gave me a room already allocated to another in our group. Think the receptionist was having a bad hair day.

Review 25:Location

Review 26:The wifi was terrible, always breaking up. To enter the hotel you have to go up a flight of steps and the front looks like a sports hall. The swimming pool décor and finish was terrible for a 4* hotel.

Review 27:The terrace was lovely to sit and have breakfast and relax

Review 28:The Wifi (essential for the lads) was not good and the room itself was a bit basic. It was a bit like upmarket student accommodation.

Review 29:Burgos itself is a beautiful romantic location. One of the best places you have never heard of. The hotel itself is very modern, basic but comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful making the stay smooth and trouble free.

Review 30:Apart from the black mould in the shower and the 1980's tv,generally the staff were ok but as I was checking out, another customerdecided to empty her handbag on the reception counter right next to meand stood at my shoulder while I was expected to enter the pin to mycredit card, right at my shoulder not 3 feet away but touching myshoulder. She and the staff at reception seemed to find no problem withthis and actually started serving her while I was complaining. I foundthis to be incredible and would not put up with it at an atm so why am Iexpected to be ok with it at a hotel reception. I found the staffattitude to be slightly racist as my Spanish is not that good and theypreferred speaking to the woman in very fast Spanish. Due to this I willnot be staying in abba hotel again.

Review 31:Mostly good; location is great, pool is small but good, food in the baris good value.

Review 32:Sound proofing not very good, a lot of noise from the people in the next room. You can hear talking, which is not good to get off to sleep with. Tired decor.

Review 33:Excellent position and good parking. Room size good.

Review 34:We are English speaking and the room does not offer any English tv newsor any other English programs which is not good for a 4 star hotel ! Thenoise of the wedding reception was really loud until very late in the amand also the guests were shouting as they left the area ! we had onetowel for the shower on the second day with two adults ( room servicenot great !)

Review 35:The service at the reception they were very helpful and assisted us withall our queries.

Review 36:had to park off site breakfast was too expensive per person

Review 37:Large family room hotel bar with small outside terrace close to lots of cafes, bars, cathedral etc

Review 38:The pool was heated far too high for August. Also the hotel was very difficult to find due to the road being closed for a bicycle race which is no ones fault

Review 39:very professional staff, impressive hotel and centra location.

Review 40:This is definitely not a 4* hotel. Carpet is just too old. And TV is minimum 20yrs old. Abba Burgos has the potential to be a real 4* hotel but it wi require some investments to be done in terms of renovation. The staff is amazing though

Review 41:Staff is great and very professional

Review 42:Front desk clerk had already deducted my money on arrival did not give me a chance to pay any other way. bit hard to find hotel and entrance to it was unattractive.

Review 43:it was ok for one night only.

Review 44:Free wifi was available but internet was poor with no connectivity. No kettle , tea and coffee facilities included in rooms.

Review 45:Comfortable bed, location and bathroom.

Review 46:Parking was expensive at 16.75 euros each night. The breakfast was not good. A long queue to use the coffee machine and guests asking staff the same questions as items were not signposted e.g cold milk. Wouldn't bother with it ,especially as it is so close to the town. Breakfast did not match the standard of the rest of the hotel.

Review 47:Great location . We walked into town centre which was only a few minutes walk away. Burgos is a lovely old town with fabulous cathedral.

Review 48:Nothing at all.

Review 49:Staff is friendly, professional and helpfull. They give you the requested information and most of them speak good English and/or French. The rooms and bathrooms .are clean, comfortable and spacious. No noise from the street nor from the neighbours. The hotel has its own private parking. The only thing I would recommend to improve is the restaurant menu. The quality is good, but the choice is limited.

Review 50:It would have been nice if there was an outdoor pool but the indoor one was nice.

Review 51:The location of this hotel was great. Just above the cathedral and bellow the castle. Also it was easy to walk to the museum of man. We also had a great big room with 4 beds for us and our teen aged family.

Review 52:Finding the hotel - our sat Nav was out of date. But we hired a taxi(Eu7) who took us straight there.

Review 53:Miguel giving us a large room with it's private gardenespecially for the dog. Ricardo helping us to have breakfast in ourprivate Garden and Felix explaining how to drive out of the city soeasily to Santander. The position - so close to the Cathedral, townsquare and castle.

Review 54:No tea or coffee making facilities and no English speaking TV programme. In theory BBC World was listed as available, but not in reality.Restaurant was closed for parties on 2 nights, very annoying.

Review 55:This is a modern hotel close to teh town centre but quiet as well. t took us about 5 minutes to walk in to town and youu can also easily access the old castle ruins behind the hotel. Our room was large and had a good sized double bed.

Review 56:Lovely hotel, but they really pulled a fast one with the room booking - watch out. After selecting that two people are travelling, they will then offer you a room for only one occupant. I thought I'd corrected the booking, but hadn't, and staff didn't advise me, despite me confirming that two people would be occupying the room. They then stung me more than 15 euros for an extra breakfast (which really wasn't worth it!) I've checked, and the other hotels we stayed at filtered their room offerings far more clearly and sensibly. The way that staff handled it when I complained wasn't helpful either - they weren't at all willing to concede that they had offered less than clear or helpful information via Booking.com

Review 57:The hotel is a short walk from the cathedral which is the highlight when exploring Burgos. The hotel is clean and very comfortable with a good restaurant. Make your way down to the square in front of the cathedral for drinks and people watching, it's stunning.

Review 58:Nothing.

Review 59:Everything! The location was excellent, right on the Camino above the Cathedral, easy walking distance to tourist attractions, restaurants. Ate in the dining room one night and had a wonderful meal at reasonable cost.

Review 60:The hotel is mainly geared to conference trade and (probably at weekends) weddings. We only stayed one night as we were walking the Camino - but as we were leaving a conference was having its coffee break - the noise was deafening even though our room was two floors above the room where they were - be warned it could be very noisy,

Review 61:It is a central large hotel - which although diffuilcut to find at first (we were walking the Camino) was good and close to the Cathedral The pool is very nice and the front desk staff also friendly

Review 62:There are two buildings and the rooms are quite different - ours was in the main section with high ceilings and more space; our friends were in the adjacent building and the room was nice but too small for two. The breakfast was expensive and we weren't given the wifi code at check in for some reason. It was difficult to get something to eat and drink from the bar between lunch and breakfast (when the restaurant onsite was closed).

Review 63:We liked the location near the cathedral and had hoped for a nice view. The rooms were comfortable and had amenities such as a mini bar and hair dryer. The shower had lots of hot water and good pressure.

Review 64:The extreme large beds were a bit hard but not as hard as marble ;-) It is situated in Spain ...

Review 65:Parking, swimming pool great, close to the centre, perfect breakfast, luxury rooms.

Review 66:There was nothing not to like

Review 67:Staff service everywhere was great, but nowhere more so than in the restaurant, where the attention to detail of the staff and quality and presentation of the food was extremely impressive,as was the value for money of their taster menu.

Review 68:Bar maid not very friendly...efficiant but needs people skills

Review 69:Every thing was great...friendly checkin checkout...room....bathroom was all fab..Restaurant is excellant.

Review 70:No complaints at all

Review 71:The room was virtually a suite which surprised us as we were only staying for one night and we had a pet. Immediately felt at home.

Review 72:Pillows could have been more comfy.

Review 73:Easy short walk into the city with an array of bars and restaurants. Cathedral just a few minutes walk. Private secure parking was reassuring.

Review 74:Restaurant being closed during our stay and the hotel not offering any hot meals. The room being rather tatty. The wooden floor covered in black marks. The bedspread having small patched holes all over. The top cotton sheet having small threadbare holes over the top.

Review 75:The hotel was clean. Staff were friendly. Lovely bathroom.

Review 76:Breakfast ok not brilliant, you can park on the road if your lucky as parking a bit pricy

Review 77:Rooms Clean and tidy, pet friendly, staff very friendly, and a nice little walk to a beutiful town.

Review 78:access from the outside car park should be improved.

Review 79:the situation of this hotel, if you want to explore Burgos, is brilliant. This is our 2nd stay here and we chose it because Burgos is more than worth a second visit. The hotel is very comfortable with excellent facilities and I don't think anybody could be disappointed.

Review 80:Although the sheets and bedding was wonderful the mattress and pillows left a lot to be desired. Not a good nights sleep.

Review 81:The Abba Hotel was in very good location within easy walking distance of Burgos. All staff very helpful and beautifully clean. We had a balcony overlooking the cathedral. Lovely.

Review 82:We went to the bar beside the reception for a coffee. After waiting over 15 mins to be served we left. The waiter seemed more interested in washing and arranging his cups etc than serving.

Review 83:The location was excellent for visiting the cathedral and town centre, even if the walk back to the hotel is all uphill.

Review 84:Bit pricey @ 23 euros to keep the dog in the room and 17 euros for onsite parking

Review 85:Easy to find Secure parking Excellent food Good value evening menuComfortable bed All round good facilities

Review 86:Aircon in room not working, pool and restaurant both closed Sunday evening

Review 87:Hotel in great position close to centre and shops / restaurants. Large clean room and covered parking at a cost. But would stay again.

Review 88:This is an efficient and professionally managed hotel only a short distance from the historic centre. The hotel private parking options made our arrival easy. The breakfast was excellent providing a wide choice to suit any traveller.

Review 89:We were unable to turn on the air conditioning and ended up sleeping poorly in overheated bedroom. We learnt the following morning that air conditioning was centrally turned off (it was September). There was no apology for discomfort caused.

Review 90:great place, great bathroom and powerful shower. Fantastic value

Review 91:The air conditioning wasnt working in our room if we had stayed another night would have asked to be moved. Couldnt get the wifi though.but it would not put me off staying again.

Review 92:good rooms easy walk to town secure parking good choice at breakfast.

Review 93:Nothing to dislike about the Abba or Burgos, in our minds only rivalled by Vancouver

Review 94:Location was perfect, so close to the cathedral, rooms were very quiet and very clean, staff were extremely helpful and Burgos is a beautiful city where as tourists we felt very safe

Review 95:hotel mixed up our booking - delayed check-in to exec room till mid pm. The wait in a soul-less cafeteria/bar was unsettling. Staff, especially Reception were stiff, formal. Location from city was up many steep steps - ok for young fit folk or if driving.

Review 96:We booked based on resturant rating. Wanted gourmet meal with friends, group of nine. Hotel closed resturant without telling us until Saturdaymorning, the day of our planned dinner. Asked for reservation on Fridayfor Saturday night and was not told the resturant was closed to thepublic because of a wedding (which was noisy and woke us up at 5:45 amSunday). As a customer I should be able to count on the advertisedservices. We stayed two nights. Ate at the resturant Friday night.Excellent. Asked to reserve for Saturday with they additional six (total9). Was told we didn't need a reservation by resturant staff andreception staff. Sign at the elevator notified us that the resturant wasclosed for lunch and dinner Saturday. We were told we could get roomservice....for nine in one room, no. Each in our own room!

Review 97:Clean. Helpful staff with the exception of not telling our group of ninethat we didn't need reservations in the resturant for Saturday nightdinner because they were closed due to wedding party. Very disappointedto reserve a four star Hotel because of the reputation of the chef onlyto find that the resturant was closed for this noisy, private wedding.Unreliable.

Review 98:Restaurant was closed on a Saturday because of a wedding. Shouldn't a guest expect restaurant service on the premise when a 4 star hotel advertises it?

Review 99:Pool and gym and sauna were great.

Review 100:Reception staff. Swimming pool gloomy and a bit dirty.

Review 101:Room, ground floor have gardens. Waiter in the restaurant was very helpful and translated the menu on his mobile phone dor us, Plenty of free parking outside hotel Very near restaurants etc.

Review 102:Modernist reception area does detract slightly from overall setting and flight of stairs to hotel entrance from street level

Review 103:Great location in beautiful setting - easy walking distance from cathedral

Review 104:Only one German tv station and a poor one for that

Review 105:- Location- very good value for price - excellent breakfast - helpful and very friendly guy at the reception

Review 106:We thought "extras"were a bit pricey; charge for our dog €23, secure parking €16. We didn't think the breakfast was as good as last year, but all in all, not bad value

Review 107:Really comfortable, well situated hotel with everything you need

Review 108:The hotel is modern, clean and very comfortable, with a lot of facilities like swimming pool and paddle courts. Location is very good just a couple of minutes from the town center. The staff is very friendly

Review 109:At 16 euros a night I thought the car parking was a bit expensive.

Review 110:Clean comfortable room with good facilities. Everything you would expect from an Hotel of this standard, at a reasonable price.

Review 111:You can hear clearly the noise of shower of the next room, it's incredible. The room is really small, and the bed, too. It's not a 4 stars hotel.

Review 112:The pillows!. no extra's ?.

Review 113:Room with outside garden and bar area outside to sit with pet. Hotel very good. Would have liked to stay longer than one night.

Review 114:Nothing !

Review 115:This was the perfect place to stop on route to catch the ferry from Santander and the location makes exploring the beautiful Burgos so easy... We had a room at the front with huge terrace/ balcony.. Nice indoor pool and gym which my daughters enjoyed.

Review 116:The gym equipment had obviously been played with without supervision. A very small point that was unimportant in the greater scale of things. An excellent stay

Review 117:Everything about this hotel was above average ,especially for the price bracket. We LOVED our stay

Review 118:Dogs only allowed in bedroom and small garden outside room. Dog had to be on lead, even in small garden.

Review 119:Location-near cathedral and Old Town. Great restaurants and bars.

Review 120:You need to walk by the reception area to get to the spa. Additional fee for Wi-Fi Premium service (for video streaming, video conferencing etc): 5 €/ 1 hour, 9 €/ 1 day.

Review 121:The Abba Burgos is in a perfect location for seeing Burgos and all its sights and surrounding areas: around 5 min walk to the Cathedral and 10 minutes to shopping and restaurants. Burgos it is a lovely city and well worth a visit – especially the Cathedral, incredibly impressive. The castle ruins are also a short walk away up some steps beside the hotel and El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) passes right in front of the hotel. The hotel is good, above average. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and efficient. Rooms were clean and modern. I stayed in a very comfortable and well-appointed room (#204), with a large and well-equipped Bathroom. Restaurant very good value and good menu. The breakfast is excellent. All in all a nice hotel, nice size rooms, reasonably priced and in a great spot.

Review 122:The breakfast is very expensive at 15 euros per person, so we recommend to go to the Cathedral square, opposite the cathedral there is Viva la Pepa , they have great breakfasts and delicious smoothies!

Review 123:Nice pool, clean although somewhat dated rooms, close to city center and Cathedral.

Review 124:Not made aware of the cost for our little dog until we were checking out. This wasn't highlighted in our booking confirmation. The location of the rooms for those with pets is further away from the main hotel. Wifi didn't work well.

Review 125:The location was perfect for visiting local tourist attractions. There is a good outdoor area for walking dogs

Review 126:Nothing of any note

Review 127:Good location with its own parking, five minutes walk to the cathedral, Good rooms with good facilities. We had a dog and room was great for a dog with a small patio garden area, Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 128:The bed was probably the hardest bed I have ever had in an hotel. Impossible to sleep. Also the wifi was very poor in the rooms.

Review 129:The location to the town. Excellent room and bathroom.

Review 130:The Wi Fi connection was extemely poor .

Review 131:The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the food was good parking facilities excellent and the hotel situated near the Cathedral which was beautiful.

Review 132:I like the location, close to the buzzy city centre and Cathedral but note that it is up lots and lots of steps - a steep climb. May not be ideal for all travellers!

Review 133:It was a wonderful oasis after two weeks on the Camino de Santiago. Lovely room with a terrace, very nice stay and excellent ( if expensive) laundry service . The pool was lovely I enjoyed its cool temp and the fact it wasn't very busy. The breakfast buffet is great (but again pricey and not included in my room rate).

Review 134:short staffed in the evening in both restaurants.

Review 135:view from our window of Burgos cathedral. grounds around hotel. comfort of hotel. breakfast was fabulous.

Review 136:old fashioned

Review 137:location

Review 138:The older woman at the reception cannot smile.

Review 139:One of our favourite hotels in Spain

Review 140:Two single beds pushed together and that is all.

Review 141:The staff, the parking, the location

The Fine Print

Please note that the Abba Burgos's restaurant will remain closed until 25 January 2016. The café-bar and room service are available.Pets are welcome at the establishment for an extra cost of EUR 24 per pet per night.
