Reviews for Hotel Café Adler

Review 1:Could use a heater in the room, though there is one in the bathroom. No tea or coffee making in the rooms.

Review 2:Staff were very friendly - agreed to let me check in late and the waitress gave me a free chocolate when I checked out. Had WiFi even though the site says they don't. Ask for the password during check in. Large room, good breakfast in the cafe, and central location.

Review 3:Limited parking, only enough for 5 vehicles. No internet in the room which is odd for this century

Review 4:Book a double room and informed them travelling with a kid and they have provided a 3 bed room with a cot, the room was big and kid was enjoying. The lady and the staff were very nice. Basic breakfast but enough to start the day. Good heating in the room. even though the room in the direction of the main road no noise due to good sound proofing, room is very neat and clean.

Review 5:Parking was limited. Bathroom needs remodeling. The shower had a little molding. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. The bed was extremely hard. The pillows were flat.

Review 6:The cafe was excellent. Breakfast was included in the rate and delicious. Friendly staff. Convenient location

Review 7:I cannot rate this stay accurately because, even though I had requested a late check-in, there was no one there. The bell was not answered, nor the phone. We paid for a room we did not get, and were not informed by the hotel before hand that no one would be there. Very disappointing.

Review 8:The towels were very rough and the water in the shower cabine didn't flow :(

Review 9:We loved the attention from the moment we arrived until we left. Very nice and kind lady. Also the parking was great right around the corner without extra costs. Great ambiance and breakfast included.

Review 10:Over a 30 minute wait to check in because the staff was busy in the cafe. Parking "garage" was too tight for vans.

Review 11:Beautiful rooms. Good location within walking distance of the sights in Triberg.

Review 12:The biggest room for the whole trip and love the wooden bed (just the same as shown in the picture)! It is close to the waterfall and being a hotel guest we get free admission to the waterfall. Nice breakfast as wel, but the bakery is closed on Tuesday so couldn't try the cakes. Very nice old couple who run the hotel. We left some clothes in the hotel and they are very kind to help me post them to a friend in Germany. Triberg is a lovely place and one of the best memories in our Germany trip. Highly recommended.

Review 13:Towels were old and scratchy and pillow were flat.

Review 14:Perfect location for the Black Forest and walkable to the waterfall and get free entrance to the waterfall! Yummy breakfast.

Review 15:We stood in the lobby for a long time waiting for someone to check us in and we had small children and even went to get someone to help us since no one was around. Also, the paperwork that we filled out upon checking in, that included our names and addresses, was just left on the front desk because the staff didn't pick it up and put it somewhere secure because we came out of our room about an hour later to go see the town and the paperwork was still sitting there for anyone to see. Also, the heat didn't work and our baby was very cold, even bundled up with blankets, and the bed was not comfortable at all.

Review 16:The location was good for walking around town and site seeing.

Review 17:no hot water available no WiFi available in the room the smeel inside the room is not good

Review 18:the staff is quite friendly the location is good the room is big

Review 19:Customer service at Hotel and Cafe Adler which was understaffed. The largest cuckoo clock was hard to find and also to get to. Path from Bahnof to clock was long, and dangerous and poorly sign posted.

Review 20:Tresor restaurant , where the 'slow food' was worth waiting for and the only waitress who served 20+ guests as well as the bar. The famous Black Forest Cake at Cafe Schafer is all it is cracked up to be. The museum was suprisingly worth while.

Review 21:no elevator, were on third floor. squeeky beds and very low to floor. poor internet. could only use in small lobby.

Review 22:loveseat, sitting area. nice breakfast.

Review 23:The bath towels were the size of large hand towels.

Review 24:We loved the location and the size of the room, the doona was lovely and warm and the room was very quiet.

Review 25:The bed as really noisy (each time we moved, even slightly, it squeaked and this was annoying - I informed them about this, hopefully they fixed it). No elevator, but this was not a big issue, the hotel only has two floors. No reception after 6 p.m. but there was no real need for that.

Review 26:Great location, close to everything. Free private underground parking. Very helpful staff, although not all of them spoke English. Very good breakfast (nothing special, however it was complete). We were given a ticket that provided free entrance to the waterfalls (regular price was 6,50 euro per person) and reduced prices for other services (entrance to Black Forest museum, bus tickets etc).

Review 27:The room was large, clean, & comfortable. The location was ideal!! The breakfast was plentiful. Staff extra helpful!! We would definitely stay here again.

Review 28:There is no elevator. The wifi work just in the lobby. The parking lot is very small (5 cars max)

Review 29:The hotel location is fantastic, in the main street of the beautiful triberg, near the central attractions and jest 3 minutes walking from the waterfalls entrance. The owner is very nice lady, and in spite of she don't speak English, she made the best to help. The breakfast is great and they have free wifi and free parking area.

Review 30:No wi fi in room staff was unavailable most of the time as they were busy in running their cafe reception was closed at 6 pm which was too early

Review 31:Room was big breakfast was good location is in main city centre

Review 32:Our spacious triple room on the third floor was fine; the only problem was the climb to get up there (no elevator).

Review 33:The staff could not have been friendlier. The pastries (and chocolates) were very good.

Review 34:Street noise at night was difficult with the windows open during the summer.

Review 35:Located right on the main street in Triberg, walking distance to the falls. Breakfast was served in the cafe which was very quaint.

Review 36:Unable to obtain/make a drink once the shop was shut WiFi only available on ground floor

Review 37:central location easy walking distance to water fall good parking for motorbike Good cake shop

Review 38:The beds were too hard meaning we had 3 bad nights sleep

Review 39:Location in Triberg was very central and the selection of cakes in the attached shop are a welcome when returning after a day out.

Review 40:Wifi access is only available in the lobby (street level) and the restaurant area (1st floor). It did not work at all on the 1st day and on the 2nd day we had to insist on it being looked at. It was reset within minutes once they accepted to look into it. As many of these small hotels there are no lifts to access rooms. The restaurant is on level 1 and the rooms are on levels 2, 3 & 4. This may have to be considered if mobility is an issue or if travelling with heavy suitcases.

Review 41:Good value for money. Good location, pleasant staff, clean and large size room. The beds are comfortable but the wooden base made noise when we moved. Lovely breakfast.

Review 42:The only problems we had were that the wifi didn't work upstairs (only in the café for breakfast), and though it's a minor detail, the room keychain is so big that it was hard to keep with us in our pockets during the day while doing activities.

Review 43:The room was exactly as pictured and everything was very clean. The woman who works there was very welcoming and sweet and the breakfast was delicious and inexpensive.

Review 44:The beds were uncomfortable for me Hubby says it was fine but he can sleep on the floor and feel amazing. Bed was so hard Also no one at the front desk when u walk in. You must go to the bakery and advise them u need to check in and out. They are very friendly though

Review 45:Loved the location, free breakfast was usual cheese, lunch meat and bread, cereal and drinks which was fine for us Room was clean no outide noises

Review 46:Wifi does not work and hotel staff judged that something was wrong with our phone (all of us in a group of 7 pax. could not get access to wifi) no elevator: going up to third floor with luggages was not so easy

Review 47:well located for visiting the waterfalls and other attractions in Triberg

Review 48:No lift and therefore it was very hard to carry our suitcases to our room. When using the water in the bathroom sink and shower, it stays there and takes a long time to pass through. There was not a great selection for breakfast.

Review 49:Great location right in the heart of the Black Forest. A few minutes walk away from the waterfall.

Review 50:Feather pillow is a bit too small and easily squished in an unusable flat form. Towels are scratchy. There will be no one at the desk when you check in.  Go into the cafe (attached) and say you are here to check into the hotel.  They will come over after a short wait.  There is no elevator, so be prepared to walk up stairs. The lady who was there when we arrived spoke no English,  but we managed.

Review 51:I chose this hotel over others that looked mediocre or drab because the decor in the photos looked very retro. It was!  It reminded me of staying at my great grandmother's house with decor from 4 decades ago.  It was cute.  The bed was somewhat hard but extremely comfortable to me.  I slept wonderfully.  The double bed was two twin mattresses but they are in a proper bed frame with one sheet over both to keep them together.  Room is extremely spacious.  We requested a room on the back of the hotel for quiet. It was very quiet and has an alright view of a few other buildings. Everything in the bakery case looked amazing.  Breakfast was okay.  I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.  It is quite close to the waterfall.

Review 52:none

Review 53:The host/staff are very nice. Even if we can't speak German and they can't speak English, we still felt their hospitality and kindness.

Review 54:woman in charge is "interrupted" from her job in adjoining cafe to manage checkin/checkout - had no interest and gave no help with lack of any wifi connection; I even entered their key and password on my Ipad to illustrate it didn't connect and she only shrugged - no effort to make me feel welcome - tourist book in English dated 2011 - steep uphill climb to get to stores, museum, etc - breakfast buffet covered in plastic wrap but large fly zipping around underneath on meats and cheese was so unappetizing didn't try those - terrace is at back of building over rustic garage for parking and storage - no view

Review 55:room was clean and spacious interesting old fashion key to room

Review 56:Nothing open a lot in the area and can't get a drink in the hotel after about 5.30 it's really a cafe and has some bedrooms might be different in the winter. On a plus side right near the B500 for motorcyclists......

Review 57:Very friendly owner and helpful

Review 58:Everyone else was right, we were given a code but the wi-fi never worked and I desperately needed it. Bed was quite uncomfortable. Facilities are a little dated. No fault of the hotel but the street outside is busy and quite noisy with windows open.

Review 59:Location was good. Breakfast was quite good. When closed, the windows keep the street noise out fairly well. Hostess kindly allowed us to store our bags before check-in.

Review 60:Nothing.

Review 61:Very nice hotel with helpful staff, free underground parking, had an excellent two night stay at hotel adler recently, good location in the lovely black forest town of Triberg, got given free tickets to the waterfall in Triberg which was a nice touch, the cafe which is open during day sells chocolate and cakes to die for!!, when we visit the black forest in the future we will certainly be coming back.

Review 62:1. Bathroom is tiny 2. no tea/coffee facilities in the room or a mini-fridge 3. reception is a bit tardy 4. no elevator

Review 63:1. the room is wonderful, full of old-world charm and well maintained.

Review 64:Wifi wouldn't connect but it wasn't that big of a deal for just one night

Review 65:The hotel was in a great Location. Walking distance to the waterfall and the clock stores. The bakery next door which they own I believe was amazing !! The strawberry cake was very good. The owner (lady) was super friendly and made us feel like we are at home.

Review 66:Right on the main road through town with no air conditioning so, if you open windows for air at night you get the road noise which is significant until after midnight and starts quite early as well. Parking, while free was difficult to arrange. Owner speaks very, very limited English.

Review 67:Just down the street from a short hike to waterfalls. Breakfast was good.

Review 68:Beds were very firm and pillows were quite flimsy. Room could have used a fan, as it was a bit warm.

Review 69:Very clean, helpful staff, good breakfast, great location. Very accommodating of children. Overall, great stay.

Review 70:There is no wifi and the beds felt rock hard. The bathroom was very dated.

Review 71:The room was huge and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast the next day was good. Proximity to shops and the waterfalls is excellent.

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:Great location & large rooms at a very affordable rate. Under ground off street parking for our motorcycles but not gated so take a lock just in case.

Review 74:Some the back room views are not great, but the raisin bread at breakfast makes up for everything.

Review 75:While the rooms may not be boutique quality this little family hotel more than makes up for that with its excellent bakery right on the main floor of the building, and whose products you enjoy on their generous breakfast table. There are also homemade Black Forest jams and jellies to enjoy, and the man of the house is also a talented chocolatier. You have to see to believe. One stop shopping for luscious, beautiful, unique, souveniers. A busy, but very kind, hostess runs a tight ship and the bakery lady could be your mother. Great downtown location, too.

Review 76:We liked everything but I spose the lack of elevator could be a problem and the beds maybe a bit hard.

Review 77:everything! We were 100% happy. It's a chocolaterie! Cafe excellent, staff very friendly and helpful went out of their way for my breakfast as I'm vegetarian, room large and comfortable. Location perfect, easy walking distance to waterfall!

Review 78:No wi-fi, bathroom essentials are insufficient.

Review 79:Stay in Triberg entitles you a free ticket to Waterfall as well as some discount to the museum, and free public transport. It is actually not limited to this hotel. Overall, this hotel is value for money, generally comfortable, and reasonably good location.

Review 80:The internet connect did not extend into our room, we had to sit in the lobby to use it.

Review 81:The hotel was exactly what we were looking for! A cute stay in a clean room with quality service. The hote/cafe lacks alot of modern amenities you find in large chain hotels (pool/hot tub, exercise room..etc..) but thats fine we were not looking for that. The staff was very personable and catered to our needs and whims with a wonderful pleasantness. The cafe attached to the hotel was good and offered a nice variety of small foods, teas, coffee, treats. 100% Will stay again.

Review 82:Hot water ran out in the morning. When we reported it, the staff didn't take any action. We wasted the morning waiting for hot water. We were 15 mins late in checking out and the old lady showed me the clock.

Review 83:The hotel is located close to the waterfall. The room was huge, kids loved it.

Review 84:Wifi only works in the lobby and is a tight space for more than 2 parties. As a bakery the breakfast is too stingy for offering bake goods

Review 85:Good location if you are staying in Triberg

Review 86:Bad internet connection. wifi available only in a small area. very limited breakfast choices.

Review 87:Friendly staff, and an old time flavor without stuffiness.

Review 88:The hotel has no lobby where family can spend the evening, but this is a "mom and pop" hotel. Though the room exceeded our expectations for a last minute reservation, the beds certainly did not. We would stay here again for the price.

Review 89:The location is great. The hotel is located about 3 blocks away from the waterfall. Our room was extremely clean and our 3 bed room was spacious and overlooked the Hauptstrasse. Breakfast with coffee was the typical german style and pleasant.

Review 90:Wifi can only be accessed in the lobby (not in hotel rooms) which is inconvenient

Review 91:Nice breakfast (especially the freshly prepared croissants). Cozy and clean place to sleep with Heated tiles in toilet. Warm staff to make you feel welcome.

Review 92:Nothing!

Review 93:This hotel was fabulous. The location was great, on the main street of Triberg, but the room was quiet. We slept well. The breakfast was fabulous. The owner was so friendly, helpful & accommodating. Everything was beautiful and clean. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend Adler's!

Review 94:Bed was as hard as the ground. Feather pillows flat. No top sheet on bed just down comforter. Very hot sleep. This is typical in Europre though. Hotel says internet in rooms but it never worked. Hotel has a cafe and bakery but it closed at 6. This was an inexpensive room so the saying "you get what you pay for" definately applies here.

Review 95:Staff very friendly and helpful even though spoke very little english. Price was lowest out of all hotels on the trip. Breakfast included and okay. Great bakery in hotel. Parking free. A rarity!

Review 96:One thing we look for when traveling is parking, that was one reason we picked this hotel. They had like 4 spots for 12 rooms. It was horrible and the spots were tiny. We had to park on the street the last night we were there and it was far from the hotel.

Review 97:Staff is friendly and tries hard to communicate even though they speak very little English. Hotel is clean and quiet.

Review 98:Wifi didn't work, but it wasn't a priority for us, so no big deal

Review 99:Great location. We came to hike the falls and it was a 5 minute walk up the street. Lots of cuckoo shops and little restaurants on the street. The staff was very helpful and the room was far more spacious than expected!

Review 100:The lobby gives a bad first impression. Sparse and musty smelling, but don't let that put you off. Staff friendly and the Café is fantastic.

Review 101:Rooms were quite, spacious and clean. There was a sitting area in the room and more space than expected.

Review 102:Wi Fi connectivity was a bit spotty and somewhat slow but it was free.

Review 103:Excellent location in the heart of town within walking distance of all activities. Cafe was excellent - best Black Forest cake around!

Review 104:The wifi was very difficult to use during my stay.

Review 105:What a wonderful staff! As a lone traveler, being greeted daily made all the difference. There is a lovely bakery and treat shop next door with every kind of chocolate or marzipan souvenir one could ask for! Breakfast was a lovely selection and the rooms were spacious. This is some of the only original or older architecture in the town, and is located just a block away from shops, museums, tourist information and the waterfall. I would love to stay here again.

Review 106:It's a nice little hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, spoke English well. Our room was on the back side of the hotel so the view wasn't spectacular but I was able to open the window and the rushing water from the waterfall put me right to sleep! We were given a ticket for free entrance to the falls at check- in, which is only a short walk away and it is amazing! Continental breakfast was good and the coffee was wonderful! No wifi in the room but it works great in the lobby! There were no wash cloths but I took my own and the towels were a little rough. All-in-all, we had a very nice overnight stay! Our only issue was that the bed was hard, but we were exhausted from shopping and barely noticed! Also, many of the shops and restaurants close early, so keep that in mind while there.

Review 107:nothing

Review 108:You know, this is a quiet place in a very nice part of the Black Forest. I liked it a lot but I'm kind of a traditionalist . I like places with real people and this was it.

Review 109:No elevator, so carrying two suitcases to the third floor was a bit of a change

Review 110:Nice and friendly stuff, amazing location , not far from the famous waterfalls, decent price including breakfast.

Review 111:Beds are a little bit hard.

Review 112:Friendly staff, great location, clean rooms and fantastic breakfast! Truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend you stay here.

Review 113:Very well located - just a short stroll up the street to the Triburg waterfall and shops. The cafe and confectionery downstairs was amazing! The staff was super friendly and helpful and parking was convenient and free. The room was not very fancy, but there was plenty of room.

Review 114:Like all German hotels, no A/C, but the weather was cool.

Review 115:The staff was very personable, breakfast was excellent, room was large, and bed was comfortable. Included free entrance to Triberg Waterfall. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch in the café and were impressed by the chocolate shop (all items homemade by the owner!).

Review 116:Be careful to make it there early enough for check in. The front desk is not manned in the evening.

Review 117:Comfortable, spacious accommodation and a superb breakfast.

Review 118:Wifi unfortunately wasn't working during our visit, but these things happen.

Review 119:The hotel is in a perfect location on the main street of Triberg and close to the cuckoo shops and waterfall. The owners were lovely and provided genuine helpful service. The cafe has amazing cakes and sweets and is a must visit! Breakfast was good too. Can definitely recommend.

Review 120:A bit out-dated with worn carpets and very thin, rough towels. Wi-fi only worked in small lobby area and not very well. As reviewers have said, there could be a problem with check-in as the staff go home about 6pm - it does say on the Confirmation that check-in is only till 17.30 but who thinks of that when they are booking it?! We were there in good time but beware if you want to arrive later.

Review 121:Really good location in the centre of this pretty town, very near the entrance to the waterfalls. Very big room with plenty of space and sofa to relax. Breakfast was amazing, the best we had on our trip - fruit, cold meats, cheeses etc, all help yourself but as much as you want and the friendly waitress kept bringing more coffee. The hotel is part of a cake and chocolate shop - all very tempting!

Review 122:Beds were very hard. Also, check-in was a bit confusing. When we arrived, our keys were on the desk, but no staff. Once we wandered into the cafe, we found the staff handles both places. No worries, but be aware, when the cafe closes, the staff is gone. Not knowing this, we felt fortunate to have arrived just before!

Review 123:Quaint and quiet room in a good location.

Review 124:Very nice hotel, felt homely because the hostess was welcoming and warm. They have a very nicely decorated cafe, try the Black Forest cake there! Rooms are great too.

Review 125:I liked everything

Review 126:Breakfast was great!

Review 127:Made us wait quite a long time to check in.

Review 128:Breakfast

Review 129:My bathroom didn't have a shower only a tub

Review 130:Staff was so wonderful!

Review 131:Love the location and the breakfast.

Review 132:Parking was a challenge.

Review 133:Friendly staff and excellent location

Review 134:Great location!

Review 135:Wifi only available in lobby. Parking wasn't on site (but still not bad).

Review 136:Quaint little hotel with good breakfast.

Review 137:Breakfast is just so so

Review 138:Big Room, Nice staff.

Review 139:Lots of stairs to rooms. Parking was difficult when others guests drove large autos.

Review 140:Wonderful bakery on site. The owners were very friendly.

Review 141:Locality in relation to the town itself is convenient; the breakfast was comprehensive.
