Reviews for Landgasthof Berghof
Review 1:The rooms are furnished with older beds, etc but they are very clean and comfortable!
Review 2:This is not a fancy hotel, it's a very cozy and lovely place to stay in a rural area. Great for taking a break from the hustle and bustle! The owners speak German, but put together the most amazing service for their guests. The food there is delicious. The breakfast is the best breakfast I've gotten in my travels to Germany. We've stayed here more than once.
Review 3:Despite of the great breakfest, it was really strange that the juice wasn't natural.
Review 4:Great location (really quiet), really authentic place, great breakfest.
Review 5:The hotel is located in a very beautiful area with hiking trails. The owners were wonderful people who were very helpful and accomodating. Our rooms were very nice and we enjoyed the breakfast very much.
Review 6:Be warned the road to get to the propery is narrow as it is on a mountain, but the view is well worth it. The pillows could use replacing, they were very thin.
Review 7:This hotel was excellent! The room was large and room, and the view from the balcony was magnificent. The owner could not do enough to make us comfortable. We had dinner at the property, which was excellent, and they had to wait for us because we were delayed by traffic. Breakfast was a huge buffet with hot and cold foods, and fresh fruits - all you could want.
Review 8:No tea-coffee facility or fridge in the room & inside restaurant close at 7 so if you need cold or hot drink than you have to travel to nearest coffee shop/bar which is 5/6 miles far .
Review 9:Very good location, lady who is owner/ manager is very helpful regardless language barrier.
Review 10:They should install a lamp outside that is switched on the night as it's really dark even to reach out to car the night. There is a lamp outside but it's switches off after may be 4 seconds
Review 11:Location. Restaurant
Review 12:location can't be identified by the tomtom gps guide. The price did not include tax. And 19% tax was added. Other hotel include tax.
Review 13:location in the black forest
Review 14:Everything is very clean but could do with a spruce up as is looking outdated
Review 15:The lady/owner/hostess was most welcoming and looked after us well at meal times. Lovely location
Review 16:The owner of the place is Stingy, only after we told her to put soap and replace the towels she done this and not every day A lot of problems with the Wifi The same breakfast every day
Review 17:Clean place great view
Review 18:The bed was quite soft and didn't allow us to recover fully after a day of hiking and activities.
Review 19:Friendly owners, let us arrive after 10pm. Good WIFI connection in all buildings. The view from our room
Review 20:Nothing negative to report.
Review 21:Very Remote up in the hills of the Black Forest. Great Hiking Right out the door, exactly what we wanted. A nice natural swimming pool which we unfortunately could not try out due to inclement weather. Great country style food in the hotel restaurant. We will return!
Review 22:The road leading to this gem was narrow and one car will have to give way in order to pass. Nothing to difficult.
Review 23:The owners were great and the onsite restaurant was amazing. The hiking trails were an added bonus
Review 24:Don't forget to ask for the free Wifi and Guest cards as soon as you check in!
Review 25:The old lady running the property is very nice and makes you feel very comfortable. Food was also good.
Review 26:Not really a dislike- but be prepared to sit down and complete paperwork on arrival. Very small shower, but the water was hot. Plenty of TV channels but no English speaking channels and a lot of Adult channels accessible
Review 27:Warm room when there was still snow around outside, free wifi It's a very simple room and basic breakfast but the hosts were accommodating with their basic English
Review 28:Wifi was weak and slow
Review 29:The road coming in was a lot of fun due to curves and views. The area around was great for walking to adventure. Incredibly hospitality and wonderful food! Great all around!
Review 30:That we could not stay longer
Review 31:The best home cooked meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was personal and substantial. Rooms clean and spacious. Black Forest cake beats the Australian version!!
Review 32:Wifi had a strange system that forced you to create an account, but otherwise, worked fine. Bummer it was pouring rain when we were there, but that is hardly the hotel's fault.
Review 33:This place is a lovely, forest getaway. You feel like you have reached a remote, secluded inn. The proprietress does not speak English (as noticed in many reviews), but is warm and helpful. The restaurant serves delicious food and the breakfast was quite nice.
Review 34:Heating in the bedrooms was a bit inadequate.
Review 35:Beautiful vicinity in the Black Forest. The main dining room is amazing with wooden beams. The lady in charge (over 70 yrs) but full of energy and personality. Food was excellent and wine choices very good.
Review 36:The drive to the hotel is tricky. The route is one way and there are very less side bays. I had to take reverse for almost 100 mts for a tractor to pass through.
Review 37:The staff were very good. The location in the Black forest high land is excellent.
Review 38:I found the one-lane mountain road up to the guesthouse terrifying. Our bathroom window opened into a backhoe - picturesque but a little odd. The lovely older lady (presumably the owner) was very nice, but our German was not good enough to communicate with her as much as I would have wanted.
Review 39:The staff were very nice, and the location was in a lovely mountain valley. Very picturesque if you want to "get away from it all." I liked that we had a separate bedroom for the kids (we had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.) Dinner and breakfast were hearty and delicious.
Review 40:Nothing
Review 41:Location and the host. Frau is a wonderful lady. We had language barriers but there was no problem of communication between Frau and us. She even bade goodbye to us with tear filled eyes.We will come back again to this place.
Review 42:It is not easy to join the Wi-Fi signal.
Review 43:The hotel belongs to a family of farmers. The location is close to Triberg. The staff are really kind and cheerful. The food is good as well, not only for the quality but also for the decoration of the restaurant itself. They speak English but not very much, however more than enough to provide you all you can need.
Review 44:Great place to escape the tourist crowds! 5-10 minute drive to Triberg. (check in first and they will give you a card to get into the Waterfall free and other discounts. From the balcony there is beautiful view of the countryside and black forest. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed staying here. Make sure you eat in the restaurant and have real authentic German food. Had the best meal here!!
Review 45:Hours for evening meals were restricted and we were asked to pay on arrival which is unique!
Review 46:The food was very traditional Shwarzwald fare but very tasty and well prepared. The room was comfortable and quiet. The location was very close to a number of wanderwegs which allowed us hikes in beautiful surroundings. The staff were helpful and friendly
Review 47:It was a beautiful secluded place in the mountains. We loved every bit of the time spent there. If you want solitude, this is the place. The food was excellent. We took day trips from here. There are lots of things to do. Vernon & Judy, Chebanse, IL. USA The owners were very friendly and helpful. Although they did not speak english, we enjoyed being eith them
Review 48:The bed was a bit hard.
Review 49:The hostess and the chef were very sweet and very accommodating. My German is poor and her English was non-existant but we had no problem communicating. The location was beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was typical fare and quite good. The restaurant had a good selection especially since it was about 4 kilometers from anywhere else. The food and the prices were good. There were people in the restaurant that were not staying there so that says something positive. We wished we had more time.
Review 50:This was the perfect place for my daughter and I anchor whileexploring the Triberg area. Loved getting out into the beautifulgreen countryside. The food was over the top amazing. I couldn'twait to get back there to eat dinner each night. The dining room iswhat you would expect from a mountain German experience with carvedwood and traditional decorations. Charming and relaxing. A shortdrive into Triberg.
Review 51:My stay here was very enjoyable. It was myself and my husband wanting to visit the Black Forest and this place was located in such a beautiful town of Triberg. The owner was a elderly women who spoke very little English. She has to be the sweetest little old lady I've ever meet. You can tell she has pride in her place because she checked us in always brought us our food and even gave us a big hug before we left. The rooms were small but confertable and had a tv and free wifi. The resterant was INCREDIBLE best german food I've ever had and for fair prices alway came with a fresh salad. Parking was free and a big lot in front. Would stay here again
Review 52:Very remote and up a long, narrow lane with no street lighting.
Review 53:Large, comfortable room. Double sinks in the bathroom. Separate toilet. The views were lovely.
Review 54:Further from Triberg town than described. Road up to house tortuous, particularly at night. Owner cannot speak English. Dinner was poor quality and cannot really be described as from "local produce". "Swimming pool" is a black pond-lined pit, bottom cannot be seen, not like the photo at all and really should not be described as such.
Review 55:Impressive scenery. Breakfasts were good. Accommodation good value for what we paid.
Review 56:The breakfast was lacking in selection. Wi-Fi reception was good, tho you had to log into hotspots each time you came back to your computer. The showers did the job, but they are a bit dated.
Review 57:Location was out of the way but totally outstanding for what we wanted. The surrounding area is beautiful. The elderly lady who served us was wonderful and so helpful even though her English was non-existent she tried very hard to help. Our evening meal was very delicious, and the restaurant was very charming and full of atmosphere with lots of nice woodwork. So peaceful!
Review 58:We stayed here with our two year old son while visiting Triberg. We loved its out if the way, off the beaten oath location and its homey, traditional feel. Neither inn keeper spoke English and w speak very little German but we managed to get by and they were very kind!
Review 59:Comfortable guest house located atop a beautiful winding road in the Black Forest. We enjoyed a great dinner and breakfast there and had a great time just being removed from city life. When we arrived, one of the staff member's spoke English and helped us check in. However later in the night and the next morning, the only staff was an adorable older German lady. While she did not speak English, she was very patient with our broken German and was able to help us with what we needed. It was the most authentic German experience I've had, and I would return in a heartbeat.
Review 60:excellent location, close to attractions in black forest, very peaceful, good value for money
Review 61:The bathroom smelled really bad. I had to cover the drain hole in the bathroom floor with a bathmat to stop the stink.
Review 62:Very friendly and accommodating, amazing that in this distant location they provided us with wifi. Breakfast was perfect.
Review 63:Location, silence.
Review 64:Quite basic, perhaps a 10-15 minute drive to Triburg
Review 65:Quiet location, views over the hills
Review 66:Traditional Black Forest inn
Review 67:Travelling without a car could be difficult to reach conveniently!
Review 68:wifi
Review 69:reception, breakfirst
Review 70:Very good hosts with excellent breakfast!
Review 71:The lady owner of the house was really nice to us and always helped us for any of our questions. Very well managed.
Review 72:Restrant served very good tasty food and I never had such good taste German dishes. It is very much country side but worth to be there!!
Review 73:hard to find
Review 74:good food
Review 75:BEAUTIFUL SETTING & VIEWS EXCELLENT FOOD FRIENDLY
Review 76:Excellent friendly beautiful location
Review 77:A bit of a way out and difficult to find
Review 78:Warm welcoming environment amongst farms. Great food
Review 79:Poor internet speed
Review 80:Limited dining times, no English, not friendly
Review 81:View
Review 82:Good breakfast. Very good location for enjoying the nature. Good Wi_Fi connection.
Review 83:Staff Do not talk English.
Review 84:Location, calmness & staff
Review 85:Takes time for wifi connection.
Review 86:The lady owner is very nice and kind. The room is clean and cute. The decoration in the restaurant is very lovely. And the scenery is very impressively stunning.
Review 87:The hotel location is far from the nearest city/town and the road to the hotel is very narrow. Only one car could cross the road at a time. But they have provided some vacancies in between for crossing of vehicles.
Review 88:The value for money is very good. The locale of the hotel is very nice and has beautiful scenery but it is very far and the roads are damn narrow.
Review 89:The Landgasthof Berghof is very charming! I love that it is off the beaten path & offers a serene environment. It has traditional German character, but with modern accommodations. Our children liked seeing the cows up close down the road. Would highly recommend for a true German experience!
Review 90:Rooms outdated (but they were clean). Restaurant didn't open until 7pm. We eat early because our 3 year old usually goes to bed at 7pm which meant we had to drive somewhere to eat every night.
Review 91:Off the beaten path, neutral location between Triberg and Gutach. Very friendly owner. She did not speak ANY English but it wasn't a problem for us in any way. Quiet relaxing area.
Review 92:The towels were wafer thin. Not enough in the room for four people.
Review 93:Nice dining room atmosphere. Plenty on offer for breakfast. Comfortable mattresses.
Review 94:Wifi was down because of bad weather. And comforters were very small, almost didn't cover me completely. But it was very fluffy and warm on what it did cover.
Review 95:Beautiful! I would love to go again!
Review 96:The people were very cordial. There was language gap but the lady tried to do everything that was possible. This hotel is worth stay only if you have your own transport
Review 97:We loved that this gasthaus was out in the middle of nowhere but still a few minutes from Triberg. The set-up was perfect with 2 beds in a small bedroom within the room for our young boys. Breakfast was great as was dinner (purchased separately).
Review 98:Strong sewage smell in room bathroom (could have been temporary issue), but room and bathroom was spotless (hence Good rating for Facilities). WiFi access was through hostess only.
Review 99:Beautiful surroundings, helpful and sweet staff, family atmosphere, cozy mountain lodge, surprise at the end of a steep road. They had a large group at the time of our stay, yet they catered to us as well. Nice dining room with full menu. Accepts credit cards (but only cards with a chip).
Review 100:Hotel is really far from the town of triberg and we thought we could walk according to the other review, it was beautiful tho way up in the Black Forest
Review 101:Very safe feeling
Review 102:That we only stayed for one night and didn't have dinner!
Review 103:This place was amazing! If you want to go to a genuine Germany hotel that is WAY out in the middle of nowhere, go here! The Germany couple are very nice, speak no English, and do everything to help out. For the price, you cannot beat this place!
Review 104:They could use some new towels. Not a big deal to us, but some might bebothered by this. Also, as is typical in many small European hotels, oneshould bring their own toiletries.
Review 105:Very friendly staff at what seems to be a family owned business Wecommunicated entirely in German and they were patient with us and spokeslowly to make sure we understood each other. The building itself is alittle older, but the rooms were comfortable and more than adequate forour purposes. The location is very charming and scenic. It is surprisingclose to downtown Triberg (maybe 10 minutes or so by car) so one canaccess the city pretty easily by car. Lovely place to take a hike.Breakfast was fresh and satisfying. They accommodated our wish to add asecond night on our trip and we felt very much at home. A great place toget away from it all and relax.
Review 106:The rooms are very small, they could have some things for improvement -like a dustbin, some hangers in the bathroom. The hotel restaurant closes at 18:30 in the evening, so later if someone wants to have dinner, they have to travel 13km into city for food! The hotel is outside triberg and on top of hill with very narrow road, only one car can fit on the steep road up to the hotel, the roads have no lights except the car light, so when it is dark it may be difficult to go uphill.
Review 107:It is run by a old couple who were nice but could not speak anything other than german. The hotel is on top of a hill surrounded by greenery around, worth a beautiful landscape view
Review 108:Staff speaks only German. Furniture and facilities probably haven't been changed since the 70's (some would call it a plus).
Review 109:Location in a tiny village in the middle of the woods. Friendly and hospitable owner (old German lady). Lots of options for hiking, running and mountain biking around the guesthouse.
Review 110:We found that the staff weren't really forthcoming nor terribly approachable nor engaging. One of our two bathrooms had some drainage problems, and the message I got from the owner was that it would be very costly to fix. The lamps in the bedroom had no way to be turned on. The other room our children had was fine. We were asked to pay upfront in cash before seeing the rooms. I thought it was a bit of an unusual request.
Review 111:The accommodation was quiet and clean, and beds were comfortable. The rural scenery was beautiful. The breakfast was good, but some fresh fruit would have been nice.
Review 112:Bed sheets not substituted since the previous guest. You need to ask for towels. Swimming pool is a swamp with salamanders, frogs and slugs. No one speak other than german (or seams to be like this if you are presenting a claim). Be prepared to spend one hour to find the hotel even with GPS Do not believe on the photos. The pool is not blue, is slime green.
Review 113:Landscape
Review 114:Very friendly staff especially the owner, an old lady who was very helpful although didn't speak English and cared a lot about all the details of the guest house. The location is excellent we enjoyed very quiet evenings after hectic days. Sunset from the room balcony was super. Would recommend it to friends.
Review 115:We liked everything!
Review 116:The typical German atmosphere! The quiet and peaceful moments you get tospend here are priceless! The lady that owns it doesn't speak a wordin English, but made herself understood and we had a great time! :)
Review 117:The septic tank left a funny smell in the room for awhile.
Review 118:Beautiful Schwarzwald (Black Forest) countryside location -- somewhatremoved from the tourist center of Triberg.
Review 119:There were a few flies so bring a fly swatter but don't let that keep you from this great country experience.
Review 120:This was a very unique experience in the country. We loved the German couple that ran the place. It was a little hard to find if you don't come from Triberg (recommend you travel from Triberg to the place). The dinner was delicious, the accomodations were wonderful, the price was great, and the teenagers even dove in the "natural pool" for some fun.
Review 121:They accept only cash. This can be an inconvenience as the nearest ATM is 8km down the hill in Triberg.
Review 122:Nice location, calm and quiet. Serene backdrop. Perfect for a holiday away from stress of everyday life.
Review 123:We did not stay longer
Review 124:The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and had a great view of the countryside. If you find yourself close to Triberg this location is a great stay.
Review 125:All I can say about this hotel in the country side is it is a place I would go back to over and over, but then again I love the countryside over cities. The staff was excellent and I would especially like to say the young lady from Romania who attened to our needs was wonderful. Highly recommended for a wonderful get away.
The Fine Print
Please note that the restaurant closes at 20:00.
