Reviews for Hotel Dato
Review 1:Quirky interior, full of character. Room with enclosed gallery, good Wi-Fi. Don't do breakfasts, but there is a café across the road, so no problem. Helpful staff, very central location,
Review 2:Hotel placed 250 ms from train station in a quiet street. Easy to find. The staff is very friendly and forthcoming, speaks good english. You will find numerous good pintxos bars in the neighbourhood, about 400 ms to town center.
Review 3:Tiny rooms with a frosted glass bathroom door (awkward sharing with myparents)! There was no air conditioning or fans, in September 35+ degreeheat. Extremely unpleasant. Do not get a room at reception level, as titwas very noisy. Overpriced for such basic amenities.
Review 4:Very central location, great tapas nearby.
Review 5:All good. Room a little cramped but that was ok
Review 6:Excellent location and staff. Always present and helpful with tips on what to do and where to go . Very tastefully decorated rooms .
Review 7:Me he quedado aqui 10 o 15 veces y siempre ha sido una estancia muy agradable en un hotel limpio y bien ubicado con buen servicio de clientes por el centro de Vitoria, una ciudad muy tranquila y agradable//I've stayed here 10 or 15 times and have always enjoyed my stay in this clean and well-located hotel with good customer service in the centre of Vitoria, a nice calm city
Review 8:Some folks may find no lift a pain, but stair lift for those with mobility problems No toilet, only in rooms
Review 9:It was chilly in Vitoria, so heating very welcome Check in was efficient You can leave your bags between arrival & check-in or check-out and departure Easy to locate - short walk to train station, tram stop close by if arriving by bus (get off by parliament). Easy to find the way to the old town Lovely quiet room
Review 10:I do not expect any kind of luxury from a 2-star hotel, and I've definitely seen worse. But I've seen better, too, including in the same price range in Vitoria. Hotel Dato has a narrow steep staircase and no elevator, something you need to keep in mind, in case you travel with suitcases. You will get a good workout dragging them upstairs, 3 flights up just to get to the reception, and then a few more, depending on which floor your room is.The first room I got had a strong smell of tobacco, in spite of the hotel no-smoking policy. When I asked for a different room, the person at the reception found another one for me, which I appreciated. However, as I moved in, I discovered that the shower head was broken and the only electric outlet was located behind the bed, in a narrow space sunken into the wall. This made plugging in a phone charger and my laptop very challenging, and taking a shower was rather inconvenient. I was too tired to ask to change the rooms again, and decided to put up with it for the 2 days I was staying. The hotel was at least half empty, with lots of vacant rooms available. But when I asked to be allowed to check out 1 hour after the scheduled time, the answer was "no", because the room absolutely had to be cleaned immediately at the checkout time. OK, it's the hotel rules, and they don't owe any favors to their guests, right? Even the guests are willing to overlook and put up with some of the hotel's problems.Be aware that you are being watched through CCTV at all times. I suppose it is good for your security, but I was a little surprised when I took a clean towel from the maid's basket in the hallway and was immediately visited by a person from the reception, to tell me that I should call them if I need anything. Fair enough, but I thought I was doing them a favor by not bothering them when I could avoid it. I guess not. I just hope that all the rooms are under constant surveillance as well.
Review 11:The location is perfect. The internet connection was strong and stable.
Review 12:Would like a bath mat.
Review 13:The Art Deco is most enjoyable. Our room had a wonderful little enclosed balcony over the main street. This also gave very good sound proofing. This hotel really has to be seen and enjoyed. Handy for train station.
Review 14:Very special small hotel. Very good price/quality. I got a fine double room for single use to a quiet pedestrian street. Staff very nice and all good english speaking Just 200 ms from trainstation and 400ms from old town. Everywhere good pintxos- and tapasbars - high quality, and very cheap.
Review 15:Room smelled VERY strongly of stale cigarettes - even the bed linen and pillows. Asked to move to another room and was told there was nothing else available.
Review 16:Excellent location.
Review 17:No lifts. No help with luggage No beverages available of any kind Bit cluttered, too many artefacts all over the place so can be in the way!,
Review 18:Location Reasonable price
Review 19:Twin Beds, would have been better if it was a double but unavailable and beds were comfortable

Review 34:Location, oddness and service.

Review 36:Decor, price, location
Review 37:Location and rooms at the backside of the hotel.
Review 38:The bathroom was very bland not in the same style as the bedroom and was in need of a good deep clean. No grab rail in shower. I don't like pink towels in hotels!
Review 39:Location great, straight out of the rail station & 2 mins. walk, located on a pedestrianized street which was very quiet at night. Quirky decorations. Large room.
Review 40:Loved everything!
Review 41:Lovely hotel in great location. Close to everything. Wonderful value for money and helpful staff always smiling. Fabulous power shower. Loved the balcony overlooking the shopping street. Highly recommended.
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:This is an absolute gem of a little hotel situated right in the heart of the action near Vitoria's centre, yet nicely located on a wide pedestrianised street. It has bags of character and is exceptional value for money, certainly for the independent traveller like me. Highly recommended.
Review 44:This is a great hotel if you are travelling on your own to Vitoria. I have stayed here twice and feel it's great value for money. There's no breakfast room but this isn't a problem because the location is right in the middle of the city and just across from the hotel there are a number of cafeterias. It's also a few hundred yards from the train station if you are travelling by train. It's very clean and comfortable and I would have no hesitation recommending it for anyone travelling solo.
Review 45:Extremely dirty... extremely inadequate!. There is no elevator either shutters in the windows room.
Review 46:It's like being in a museum, quite interesting if you've the chance (but watch out coz cleaning is poorly and there's no elevator). Pretty central, having near transportation means and supermarkets arround it.
Review 47:There is no lift so if you are carrying a big suitcase it might be a problem.
Review 48:Location: excellent, on a pedestrian area, full of shops and within walking distance of the old quarter. Very good value for the money, confortable room, spacious, the brathroom was brand new and also spacious, everything impeccably clean.
Review 49:Central location. Different, nice and fascinating décor. Great pintxos bars next to hotel. Lovely rooms. Quiet although central. Old and characteristic
Review 50:If it had a lift, it would be perfect!
Review 51:Fantastic little place just steps from the train station and less than a 5 minute walk into the centre. The girl at the front desk was very friendly, and even offered to help carry my monstrous case up the stairs. Internet works great. The entire hotel was really nicely decorated and everything was comfortable and pleasant. Would very highly recommend. Definitely won't get a better location, or better value for money.
Review 52:The hotel was chosen as I could see that it was a bit quirky and I get fed up with the bland hotel chains. I loved the way that sculptures were everywhere even when the available space did not justify them. The stained glass windows on the balcony were the icing on the cake for someone who wanted something different in a hotel. It didn't matter that there were no restaurants in the hotel - there were plenty of places to get breakfast in the vicinity
Review 53:noisy (we had a room with the view in front of the main street) the room was really small
Review 54:Very nice location, with old-fashioned style and bizarre furnishings Good position friendly staff the room was clean the bathroom was clean and wide
Review 55:The decor was rather kitch, which isn't my favourite style, but I am sure some would really love it or at least get a good chuckle.
Review 56:Great location, allowing me to walk everywhere I needed to in Vitoria. I was surprised at the standards, given the only two star rating: so all in all, excellent value for money, with the added bonus of free wi-fi!
Review 57:Easy walk to historical center
Review 58:Bed squeaked.
Review 59:The decor with statues, mirrors and our enclosed balcony with coloured glass windows.
Review 60:No lift, no breakfast provision.
Review 61:Comfortable beds, very central. BBC World & CNN on TV.
Review 62:Quirky decor, central position but quiet.
Review 63:No desk in room, no easy chair.
Review 64:Great central location, quiet, friendly staff, unusual decor, very good internet connection, great price.
Review 65:Difficult to unload car as hotel is situated within a pedestrian only area
Review 66:Friendly service. helpful advice. Cetral position
Review 67:The friendly welcome, the beautiful decor and the location
