Review 1:Housekeeping staff very unfriendly they don't even greet. Getting an iron was like waiting for an answer from SRA The bed frames are dangerous- I have bruises Your shuttle is a nightmare..takes too long to get to gaustation for pick up
Review 2:The location Restaurant Hostess was just great she remembered me from 3 years ago The concierge desk team also very helpful
Review 3:The room had a broken bathroom door and the water has a slight odour when the taps are opened ... the staff were excellent at assisting us and immediately allocated a new room to us ... Also the fitness centre had broken equipment with no sign , a suggestion to place treadmills at the back so you can view the screen while working out
Review 4:Loved the location , the helpfulness of the staff , the secure parking that's included and definitely the breakfast ... Elevators are efficient and the colour scheme and decor are bright and refreshing
Review 5:I ordered room service and told the staff I'm gluten intolerant. I had to send my meal back 4 times before they agreed to do it without any ingredients containing gluten
Review 6:The location is great
Review 7:I approached the service desk clerk, but was ignored while she was talking to her colleage.
Review 8:Central location in Sandton. Good breakfast. Good service at breakfast. The cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful finding me an ice bucket which was not in the room.
Review 9:Staff were not very polite, attentive and helpful.
Review 10:Breakfast was great and so were the staff their. Proximity of the hotel to shopping is very good and also to the train station, conference centre etc.
Review 11:Room 436 is interleading to 437, if you are not one family it's annoying, you hear someone coughing from the next room, so irritating when you want to sleep. Terrible room
Review 12:Breakfast and bathroom
Review 13:Food in bar, bar service. Location ok for walking but if your driving it is a nightmare with rush hour traffic and convention centre blockades.
Review 14:Breakfast
Review 15:Only Tiff's as an evening option - I ate out at Sandton City The street noise - until early morning. I forgot to ask for a room overlooking pool. Balalaika offer a special rate for Nedbank officials.
Review 16:Room and breakfast
Review 17:I like the welcoming of your first point of call especially Mr Alfred. He is all willing to help just as the others too. Its a good thing. It sells the business
Review 18:Everything was good
Review 19:Location Friendliness of the stuff Very good price-quality ratio We were very tier after 2 long flights, and they have accommodate us some hour before the official check-in
Review 20:I wasn't entirely comfortable having a ground floor room with a sliding glass door to the back garden (with no plants). But I didn't ask to move and there was no incident.
Review 21:The restaurant is handy and has a good menu
Review 22:The staff at the reception were cold. As customers, we needed to say Hi first. No sense of service or empathy has been felt.
Review 23:If it was not for the location, I would never have opted for Garden Court. Also very safe as well.
Review 24:Very nice location, near to the famous Mandela square, where plenty bars, restaurants, markets, shopping. Comfortable room with good night sleep, and powerful shower which I liked the most. (try to get a room which is not facing the main road) Quite generous breakfast with selections of hot and cold dishes. Highly recommended place to stay.
Review 25:Room was small for 2 people, internet was only 300mb per day (complimentary).
Review 26:I liked the fact that it was close to Sandton City, a walking distance, just across the road. Breakfast is to die for, friendly staff overall. Room was clean.
Review 27:The staff at check-in and check out were very moody and didn't really want to help. It took a long time to check-in and even longer to check-out. Not efficient as on check out it took over 15 minutes to just pay for the room. Needed a lot more training.
Review 28:Location was incredible. Right next to Sandton Mall. Lots of restaurants and shops.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Everything about the hotel. The room is big enough. Staff very helpful. Plenty to choose from breakfast station. Freshly cooked breakfast. Loved it
Review 31:Room services; food, one is not sure what will get always a challenge. Cutlery missing to preparation not necessarily what was requested. It will go a long way in providing a mini bar in the room too.
Review 32:Breakfast is awesome, keep it up even get more healthier
Review 33:The location of the hotel was perfect. It was. Central to everything I needed - the mall, the convention center, banks, restaurants. The complimentary breakfast was sumptuous.
Review 34:very small beds for a couple, do not have nor a condition to the sleeping children , do not have extra bad, do not have bad baby , do not have absolutely nothing, my 1 year old daughter was forced to sleep on the floor
Review 35:Locations
Review 36:Mattress too hard. Could not sleep on it so I cancelled the rest of my stay. Internet is free but limited.
Review 37:Good location. Great bar area. Good selection of food at breakfast.
Review 38:not having an iron and ironing board in the room to enable me to press my clothes
Review 39:the close location to the conference centre and the very friendly staff. The organised way in which the breakfast was served with the staff ensuring that you were comfortably seated
Review 40:At the concierge, when i wanted to book a chauffeur drive taxi , one of the male staff tried to cinvince me to take private taxi service . which can Creat bad reputation to the hotel in case of mishap.
Review 41:Location and courteous helpful front desk staff.
Review 42:no free pickup and drop at the airport, i feel we could get better room rate as frequent guests.
Review 43:breakfast and freedom to take left-over remaining stuff, noone questioning on this.
Review 44:everything is very very bad and they like to keep you waiting! Also who is the stupid guy that have implement the Wifi!!! He want guest to pass an exam before access to Wifi! They take Pre-Auth on my CCard and even after pay cash on check out still my money if block on my CCard AC!
Review 45:only the location is good at this hotel which i have stay the last 20 years due to security reason
Review 46:shortly after booking the room ,with booking.com , I got phoned by some organization whom wanted to collect me at the airport on my arrival. the management at the hotel was not aware of this , I suspect there is a leak of info somewhere . not advisable in JNB
Review 47:overall service and friendliness of the staff, on my arrival the internet did not connect. the duty manager personally came to the room to assist. (internet connection is un-necessary cumbersome with the log-on requirements).
Review 48:The shuttle to the train never turned up. I think the staff have an understanding with Taxi drivers outside. This is not good.
Review 49:Location is great, close to Mandela Square and Sandton City malls.
Review 50:The room given to us was occupied by someone else.So we moved toanother room which had a faulty toilet which did not flush. We wereunable to flush the toilet in spite of a plumber coming in our room at10 P.M.We complained and were moved to another room the next morning. On the following day, the maid never came to clean our room. When wecomplained at night, it was too late to have the room cleaned. The maidthen apologized the next day that she had a headache and was unable toclean the room.
Review 51:It's location near the mall
Review 52:Someone who stays for one or two weeks has to live out of the suitcase on the floor since the space in cabinet and drawers is minimal. - Unfortunately, the hotel does not allow the opening of the doors to the balkonies.
Review 53:Excellent location,5 minutes footwalk from Gautrain station. Extraordinarily competent, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 54:There was quite a bad smell in the lobby area one of the days of my stay. Can't remember which day though.
Review 55:Lovely and accommodating front desk staff esp Lerato!
Review 56:Room safe was broken and although reported, not repaired during a 4 day stay.
Review 57:Very friendly staff. Excellent position with respect to the Gautrain and the Sandton Convention Centre.
Review 58:elevators are always busy, only two per building, breakfast doesn't impress, but ok.
Review 59:location is simply great if you are looking to stay in Sandton for cheap
Review 60:The hotel was not aware of the change of arrival and departure dates (one day later each) that I had made via booking.com several weeks before and which were confirmed. Only after calling booking.com they accepted the arrival date. Yet when I checked out I found one no-show day charged to my bill. There must be something wrong in the processing of booking data. Cooking exhausts, likely from opposite side of the street, reached my room located towards Maude Street.
Review 61:Central location within Sandton CBD; a five-minute foot walk from Gautrain station. The ideal place to walk to any site within the EcoMobility World Festival 2015 area. Shady, sheltered restaurant terrace. Possibility to take breakfast at tables outdoor by the pool. Hotel staff immediately accommodated my request for a room change. We needed to safely park ten bicycles for a few days; hotel staff let us park them in a safe space in the lobby.
Review 62:The cleaning of the room is a bit not up to standard in accordance with the hotel ratings.
Review 63:I liked the staff reception and the general atmosphere. The food is very good The location is excellent
Review 64:Staff weren't particularly friendly. Service was quite slow & at times they really didn't seem what they were on about.
Review 65:Hotel was in an area that was well serviced by shops & restaurants. A much safer option than other parts of Jo'burg.
Review 66:Wash bassin of RN 802 occasionally smelly, it was very difficult to get ice bucket, ice, and whisky glasses to the room n staff were difficult and stubborn, breakfast same everyday and us boring and saturated for a stay of 5-nights but what else can you do, many unwanted and late visitors access the hotel and sit in the premises
Review 67:Nicely decorated pub with nice crowd. Manager Pressi very attentive, concept of 2 large beds in the room very convenient for group and sharing of rooms,
Review 68:On my 3rd and 4th day, I have difficulty in using my internet connection and it took too long to have the issue resolved.
Review 69:I liked how Maria at the Front Desk and Bongani Simelane at Maintenance assisted me to settle down at the Hotel very quickly to start my 6 days stay. When I checked in, internet access was very key to me and I was extremely happy to have Maria going the extra mile to have me connected. Bongani patiently taught me how to get the right temperature in my room.
Review 70:* I'd specifically requested a high level, quiet room. While I understand this based on availability, I was disappointed to hear that rooms aren't allocated till the guest actually checks in. I was therefore punished for arriving around 8pm by being given a low level, noisy room -- this was very disappointing, especially as there was lots of noise from the driveway below. I was kept awake for hours on Saturday night by loud guests making noise on the driveway. It was particularly annoying a day or two later to be woken at 7.30am by 4-5 noisy Professional Services drivers (clearly identifiable in their green coats) standing in the driveway and talking loudly. * the hotel seems to have a deal with Professional Services tours to offer only their tours. This was frustrating and disappointing as their options were limited (eg. they don't offer the fantastic 'Rhino & Lion Park') and they were extremely expensive -- especially for a solo traveller. Why not offer the brochures of a range of tour companies and give guests choice? There weren't even any brochures for the open top 'Red Bus' which is a great way to see Johannesburg. * extremely limited free daily internet allowance. This was was very poor in comparison with that at other comparable hotels. It's time for hotels like this to offer unlimited free wifi as a matter of routine. * no minibar * there was a big stain on the carpet near the dresser
Review 71:* very comfortable bed & bedding * nice big TV with a good range of channels * breakfast was wonderful -- about the best I've ever come across in a hotel. Although the dining room was rather crowded and noisy, the range and quality of food probably couldn't be improved (the omelettes were fantastic!) * Bongi the concierge was really helpful and friendly. Some of the other staff -- especially in the breakfast room and the doormen -- were also wonderfully friendly and nice (though a few were off-hand and uninterested). * good sized safe in the room fits a laptop * excellent location across the road from the Mandela Square/Sandton Centre complex, which you can walk through to get to the Gautrain to the airport. * free shuttle service to/from the Gautrain Station (though there's a 15+/- minute wait for it to turn up as it services several hotels) * when I responded to the hotel's feedback email telling them about the disappointing aspects of the stay, they promptly sent a personalised reply saying they'd taken it on board.
Review 72:The room I was allocated had no refrigerator in it. This is bad.
Review 73:The hotel is strategically and centrally located in a both business and quiet area in Johannesburg.
Review 74:The air conditioning in the room didn't work . The staff said that there was an engineer working on it but it was not fixed during the two days I spent there.
Review 75:The hotel was clean and generally well maintained The staff were generally pleasant and helpful
Review 76:Congestion of vehicles at the entrance.
Review 77:Location of the accommodation. Frienliness and understanding of staff.Very healthy breakfast. Hospitality.
Review 78:No porter to help with luggage on arrival Air con did not work we had a dreadful night sleep Lifts extremely slow to arrive; we waited 15 min to get a lift on our way back with all our cases to put inside as again no help from staff No reply from reception after many min of several calls, this is unacceptable. It seems that the technical room staff had blocked all three lifts so as not to be bothered by the clients while they went about their duties! Staff watched while we were loading in 8 heavy suitcases in our two cars as we were 6 of us staying at the hotel. I could go on but I have been limited to 2 or 3 sentences. Been a least 15 times to your hotel but I will strongly consider going elsewhere next time. I can easily afford the M'angelo as we only stay overnight on the way to or back from our game ranch.
Review 79:Reception staff pleasant Linda the resident manager calm and pleasant but did not seem too bothered by our complaints. Accessibility to shopping Breakfast is good.
Review 80:The wifi has a limit of 350 MB which isn't enough for the business or for the tourist
Review 81:Breakfast is pretty good... The hotel staff are kind and friends.
Review 82:- Noisy room because of very poor windows frames - Very bad and limiteded internet conntection (320 Mb per day) - Water of the bathroom with nauseating smell of musk
Review 83:Incredible hand huge breakfast, posistion, closeness to Mandela Square and the mall
Review 84:Found service at check-in and check out offhand and not particulalrly friendly, a very complicated wi-fi
Review 85:Location, shuttle from Gautrain Station, good breakfast and staff at breakfast very helpful
Review 86:Convenience of both business and pleasure. Hotel is a walking distance from the Sandton Mall and the Convention making it easy for the business person and the shopper.
Review 87:Only suggestion would be to ensure the pool be available even in winter. We came from Tasmania, Australia and found the weather in Joburg to be very warm. We would have enjoyed a swim if the pool was not having maintenance done.
Review 88:The variety provided in the full breakfast was sensational. Hotel is in an excellent location.
Review 89:I did not find body lotion etc in my room
Review 90:location is convenient and rooms are clean and comfortable. Pillows are great!! Staff very helpful and cheerful
Review 91:Check in was badly handled/ unfriendly & poor attitude plus misinformation. Breakfast offering whilst covering all tastes was of poor quality !
Review 92:Location to Mandela Square & restaurants!
Review 93:-No complimentary water -Wall in between room too thin as I could hear the music from the next room Window pane glass not double glazed, therefore didn't keep away cold temperature at night and traffic noise
Review 94:-Location with Sandton City -good breakfast
Review 95:The staff are efficient and professional, yet warm and friendly. A rare combination. Breakfast is a hearty feast fit for a Viking appetite; a vast array of choices.
Review 96:Staff very slow to respond.unable to deal with large amount of guests especially at parking and breakfast.many times while foyer was unattended or breakfast had no refills.line was too long at breakfast.i even left the line and didn't get my omelette cos chef was unable to deal with orders.employ more staff.also checked me in the wrong room on arrival
Review 97:Any problems I had in the room such as ac was resolved immediately and housekeeping staff were very cooperative and helpful.
Review 98:Free WiFi limited to 3 devices - not sure of the point!
Review 99:Good, safe location for Gautrain to Jo'burg & airport (including free shuttle but walk is easy) and also Nelson Mandela Sq.for restaurants etc.
Review 100:The food- breakfast was monotonous! Same thing everyday in the same spot, no variation, very predictable.
Review 101:Nice location opposite d mall.clean environment.
Review 102:The hotel rates are expensive and you would expect more.
Review 103:The location. Of the hotel is great in front of Mandela square. The breakfast was awesome. The heater was working very well as the temperatures were low during pour stay.
Review 104:If there's one thing I would have liked to be improved, it's the breakfast.
Review 105:The grill bar in the hotel was fantastic! We thought it was the best restaurant around.
Review 106:I didn't like the fact that on checking out no offer was made to have my luggage brought down by the porter. Similarly on checking in I hadvto take my luggage up to the room . The porters lurking around in the foyer could see me struggling with my luggage no attempt was made to assist. This makes the services pretty average. I have stayed in many hotels the world over. This is the first time I have experienced this.
Review 107:I particularly liked the proximity of the hotel to the shopping mall.
Review 108:The front desk staff was very rude n very unhelpful when we asked for assistance
Review 109:It's location it's next to a big mall and it's centralised
Review 110:1) Sloppy maintenance. Elevator switches worn out or missing. 2) Card holder in room 109 not working. 3) Carpets stained. 4) Free drinking water bottles in rooms not provided. 5) Floor tiles cracked in places. 6) Staff although polite slow to react.
Review 111:Location
Review 112:Very organised and well run hotel. Helpful staff, fairly quick check-in. Great location for my business requirements in Sandton. Good facilities and all round enjoyable experience.
Review 113:unreliable internet connection, no fridge in room, cleaning staff sometimes talked loudly in corridors,
Review 114:Great breakfast buffet ,friendly staff, convenient location for convention centre, shopping mall and station.
Review 115:Wish ther was a small refrigerator in the room.
Review 116:Good location opposite Nelson Mandela Square shopping complex and close to the Gautrain. Very comfortable room, good wifi, plenty of breakfast options and a reasonably priced restaurant for dinner. The staff were both friendly and helpful which made for an enjoyable stay.
Review 117:Its location: close to mall and Gautrain Its breakfast: a 4-star meal Its staff: Provided 5-Star service. Left something in the safe. Ncumisa handled the return on a timely manner and found alternate carrier with cheaper rate.
Review 118:Friendlyness of the staff. VERY small rooms for the money. I used the garage, they didn't include it in the final invoice.b although when I booked it was included. Rather
Review 119:Not much. Location is one.
Review 120:Room 37 too close to very noise housekeepers. The loudest I ever come across. Room 139 has Wi-Fi router that blinks throughout the night, very annoying. Why not have it in the corridor
Review 121:the staff which had to take my stuff down from the room. The guy wanted to give hand- which in it self is ok - but normally not done by servants..... Indeed I didnt like him and should have told the staff incharge.
Review 122:The location of this hotel
Review 123:The fact that the hotel of that standard does not have a fridge in the room is not good enough and yet no bottle water in the room
Review 124:The closeness to sandton city mall and the breakfast too is fantastic
Review 125:Took awhile to work out the wifi and not always available
Review 126:Your convenience to the Gautrain the friendly and polite staff always helpful and gave us good advise
Review 127:Unfortunately, for hotel car parking, you have to pay 40 ZAR per day. Not so clean. Hairs were everywhere.
Review 128:Location is perfect. Breakfast not so bad.
Review 129:No negatives.
Review 130:Comfortable beds and good meals for breakfast and in the Riffs Restaurant. Courtesy car to and from the station a plus. Right next to Sandton City.
Review 131:Garden Court offers a great mix of affordable comfort and convenience. Location is great for Sandton shopping whilst hotel offers a good overall standard of comfort and service. Rooms have been given make-over with improved bathroom facilities
Review 132:The wifi was not the best, having to contanstly reconnect was annoying.
Review 133:Next to the Sandton mall, confusing as it is uundergoing renovations and is not clearly signposted.
Review 134:Booking was secured in advance but not on the hotel system, this was frustrating. Room was not made up and not cleared of room service plates so had to be allocated another room.
Review 135:Functional & Central
Review 136:I had no disappointment during my stay.
Review 137:The warmest welcome received during arrival and check in. The friendly and helpful staff at the customer service desk. The location of the hotel closest to the biggest shopping mall and the safe soroundings.
Review 138:We have been staying here for the past few years and the place has really grown on us. The location vis a vis the convention center or the fact that is in the heart near mandela square makes it the best option in sandton. Not to mention the friendly staff and super service.. value for money. Cheers
Review 139:Access by foot (coming from Gautrain station) neither comfortable nor safe: narrow sidewalks, no lowered curbs. Free WiFi connection got repeatedly interrupted.
Review 140:Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location within Sandton CBD.
