Reviews for Hotel Palacio de Elorriaga

Review 1:The air in the room was too hot and dry we couldnt, at least i didnt find a way to turn it cooler. You can hear the guests in the other room.

Review 2:Its a nice experience to spend some time in an old palace, and you wont need to pass through the reception to get in your room. It has direct access from the parking. Breakfast was so so, jámon and queso.....

Review 3:The staff were excellent - helpful, efficient and friendly. The ambiance of the lovely old building, which has been restored with care and retains so many original features, while the facilities, shower, bed etc were of high standard. A highly enjoyable stay close to Vitoria.

Review 4:If you are not travelling by car, it's a bit far from city centre and the public transport connection is not very good.

Review 5:Friendly staff, nice environment, free parking, good location to achieve by car

Review 6:Big space of bathroom but nowhere to hang towels or bath robe. Only 2 hangers. No chair. One gel for 3 people. One glass at breakfast for water and juce.

Review 7:I want to thank Virginia for recommending and booking an exellent restaurant and for telling about where to go and for general help! The hotel is located near a park and has a garden with fountains and turtles. It is stylish inside and rooms are big. Breakfast is good. It is possible to have lunch or dinner in a hotel's restaurant.

Review 8:A little difficult to find and some way out of town, but worth it.

Review 9:Staff were friendly and were able to serve us dinner although we arrive in the late evening. Air conditioning worked well in the room we were allocated and was very quiet despite a nearby road. Elloriaga is originally 16th century with lots of atmosphere.

Review 10:Breakfast is expensive. They run weddings and we couldn't rest and our baby either. They shoul warn about this.

Review 11:Very nice hotel. Clean and beautiful.

Review 12:as often in older premises the rooms are badly soundproofed and you're informed when your neighbors decide for family planning.

Review 13:the friendlyness of the staff and the preciously furnished rooms

Review 14:No negative comments at all

Review 15:Lady Receptionist was an excellent help - she told us the history of the building and some of the antique furniture, she booked us a taxi into the old part of town, even explained to the driver where we needed to go

Review 16:Only a net curtain in the bathroom, so had to hang towels in the window to use it at night. A fire safety light was on in the bedroom all night, disturbing my sleep. No sink plug, and VERY complicated shower with no instructions.

Review 17:Lovely old building with lots of character. Nice and warm (February). Plenty of options for breakfast.

Review 18:Global heating system which cannot be turned down. A bit noisy, as the building is still a old renovated farm with thin walls.

Review 19:The vintage atmosphere of the hotel, in a old renovated farm.Good large bed. Free wifi. Easy to access.

Review 20:Restaurant only at weekends when we stayed

Review 21:Nice old building, great location for driving to or from France, with safe parking, town can be visited on foot if you like a healthy walk

Review 22:Having to call reception to turn AC on/off a really bizarre process.

Review 23:Location easy to find Not too far from city centre shops restaurants about a mile away.....and close to main roads back to France, down to Portugal. A good place to stay en-route back from Lisbon to channel ports, Vittoria Gasteiz well worth a visit. Staff OK, one receptionist was fantastic and helpful the other more "professional" than friendly. The rooms are fantastic 16th century but updated, warm and inviting, the bathroom was huge...shame it only had a shower

Review 24:On our arrival the receptionist did nothing to make us feel welcome. The toilet didn't flush and when we contacted reception it was because a feed tap had been turned off. We had to ask for the Wi-fi code. We could not operate the air conditioning from the room. We had to ask at reception of it to be turned on and say how long we would like it to operate for. The restaurant was closed but this was a positive because the as the restaurant across the road was excellent.

Review 25:Secure parking, size of room

Review 26:Not able to control own rooms aircon. Had to phone reception for it to be turned on or off, but it was apparently switched off in the night because room above complained about fan noise! As a result we had a hot a sleepless night. I booked this hotel because it was air conditioned, but I was rather mislead.

Review 27:Great building with true Spanish atmosphere. Secure private car park. On city outskirts but within proximity of city centre - 9 euros by taxi, or use nearby bus stop. Buffet breakfast with good choice.

Review 28:Staff were a bit disinterested Restaurant wasn't open Breakfast not the best

Review 29:Loved the décor and overall ambience, lighting etc Good value

Review 30:The only complaint would be the double bed . It should be updated, and the receptionist will report accordingly.

Review 31:We much enjoyed the old world hotel

Review 32:Furniture is old

Review 33:Have bikes to go down town and free parking for cars

Review 34:Great value for such a beautiful Hotel

Review 35:Everything good.

Review 36:Location! Stile. Authentic property!

Review 37:Traffic noise from nearby main road

Review 38:Welcoming staff, good facilities, close to nature reserve

Review 39:Restaurant not open and could not find one locally only pizza and bars.

Review 40:beautiful old building, nice bar, we had a large bedroom.

Review 41:booked hotel for restaurant, when arrived told restaurant closed. luke warm snack offered.

Review 42:Location: far from eating places (restaurant was closed)

Review 43:Decoration Shower cabin

Review 44:Dinner only Saturday and Sunday

Review 45:El Hotel es encantador.

Review 46:Room and staff

Review 47:Nicely decorated. Friendly staff

Review 48:Really nothing.

Review 49:Very unusual place indeed (dark interiors, dim light, red carpets, etc), large room, good staff and services.

Review 50:Very good accommodation, and the evening meal at the hotels was excellent

Review 51:Nothing.

Review 52:The hotel is all in wood, so beatiful!Huge bad, huge room, huge wc. We can walk to the center of the city (20 minutes walk)

Review 53:safe and good parkingfacilities. Very nice and comfortable room. Good location just outside the city in an beautifull, fully atmosfered restored accomodation. Nice pub with good food across the street.

Review 54:As usual, being a Sunday, did not get a chance to try out the restaurant.

Review 55:Convenience on route through to Portugal. Lovely and warm on cold day, and excellent breakfast.

Review 56:Although the location is only just outside the town of Vittoria- Gasteiz you need an updated sat-nav to locate the Hotel. It has excellent large private gated and CCtv controlled parking area The hotel has a large open courtyard at the front and pleasant gardens to the rear but it lacked somewhere outside to sit and relax . The The hotel looks as though it is an on going project with dark and somber wood work in abundance.. Our room had modern sanitary-ware installed in the bathroom, however the wash hand basin was missing any means of stopping the water flowing away. The receptionist managed to locate a plug after searching around. The Hotel has a restaurant but it did not appear to be functional No reason was offered as to why it was shut.. A small range of snacks were advertised in the information booklet but were not put to the test . Guests were advised in the the same information booklet to use an adjacent bar-cum- restaurant which meant crossing a very busy main road. Don't be put off by appearances as a rather grotty bar leads into a small but presentable restaurant..Various menus are available and the quality and presentation of the food was good.

Review 57:Breakfast room which was nice and airy and warm. There was a reasonable selection of food although the early risers had already descended like gannets and depleted some of the choicer items.

Review 58:For travellers North – South v.v. this is a very attractive hotel. Convenient located at the fringes of Vitoria, easy to find, and not too far away from the main road A1 Madrid – San Sebastian. The hotel is an ancient Monasterio from the 16th Century and used over the centuries for different purposes. The place was abandoned completely, but renovated by the new owner about 17 years ago. The rooms and facilities are kept in style, but sufficient comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant open for lunch every day except Mondays, while for dinner only Friday and Saturday nights. A brassier type restaurant is located across the through road a few minutes walk. For people not used to late night dinners from 21.00 hours onward, there is tapa restaurant open all day for some delicious snacks about 15 min. walks on the Avenue Juan Carlos 1 Nº 24 – called Un Toque de Laurel

Review 59:Restaurant closed on a Sunday and not easy to get a good meal in Town but we ended up at another hotel where they served great food till 11pm. No wifi in your room.

Review 60:Rustic feel and great for a stop over. Gardens lovely. Secure parking and great staff.

Review 61:Breakfast a little disappointing and not particularly good value for money.

Review 62:Easy to find and extremely comfortable. Restaurant across the street was excellent for dinner and also good value for money

Review 63:The only thing we can fault is a very firm mattress.

Review 64:This lovely hotel had all the facilities that we had earlier in the year at a 5 star hotel in Granada.

Review 65:Like stepping back in time. Helpful, pleasant staff. We stayed here to break our journey from France to Southern Spain. Would definitely stay again.

Review 66:We stayed in early July, it was so warm it was difficult to sleep;a fan would've been great.

Review 67:The food here was excellent, we enjoyed a walk around the wetlands park behind the hotel before dinner.

Review 68:The restaurant only opens for meals at weekends, not as described, although breakfast was good. The room we were allocated had a very old uncomfortable double bed which did not resemble the pictures on the web site. 30 minutes walk to the city centre. Wholly not a brilliant experience.

Review 69:The staff were pleasant and helpful, the exterior of the hotel was well kept and very clean. Plenty of parking space.

Review 70:restaurant not open for evening meal, and we had to go to a restaurant recommended by the hotel which was some 400 metres away. The menu printed in the brochure in the hotel no longer applies and the meal we had was very poor with very little choice.

Review 71:Easy to find, clean, warm, comfortable, quiet room, good value breakfast, secure gated parking

Review 72:Location: a little out of town and not easy to find using Vitoria road-signs to Elorriaga.

Review 73:The style of the place, and its old-world charm and spaciousness

Review 74:It is not near the old city town (for a walk), althought, if you have a car it is a short drive.

Review 75:Great staff, nice room and the fact that it is located in an old XVI century palace. The room was also pretty clean.

Review 76:The walls I between each bedroom were paper thin , you could hear people's conversation , their tv , hair dryer in fact everything .

Review 77:Full of Spanish character lovely design

Review 78:Out in the sticks, large blocks of flats nearby, would not feel safe walking into areas where you could get a beer/meal. 12 euro taxi ride into town. Taxi rank closed at 10pm, therefore found it difficult to get a taxi back to hotel.

Review 79:Beautiful old refurbished hotel.

Review 80:We could not fault The Hotel Palacio de Elorriaga. It is a charmingplace in a semi-rural setting yet a short drive from the city centre. The free on-site parking was a bonus. We were given a large, wellappointed room, noise free. The front-desk staff was very friendly andhelpful. We were surprised at the bounty offered at breakfast whichincluded cereals, toast and sweet pastries, sliced meats, cheese juice, fresh fruit and unlimited coffee.

Review 81:hard to find on satnav !!took one houre and only found by luck. no resturant open on easter monday no resturants open near by ,not what you want after a 850 ml drive.dissapointed mick mitchell

Review 82:helpful staff

Review 83:The heating, though good, was not controllable from the room. The hydropower showers had all been disconnected because of their noise. Onesmall light in a large bathroom, was not sufficient.

Review 84:The hotel had great character.

Review 85:Room was too warm and stuffy and we were there in March. Granted it was unseasonably warm for March the days that we stayed. You have to call the desk to adjust temp in room. They did turn the heat off but we ended up just leaving the window open to sleep comfortably.

Review 86:16th century castle. I loved the atmosphere. Staff very friendly. It was a little bit of walk to town, but we like to walk so wasn't a big deal to us. I would rather stay a little out of town for the peace and quiet. The price was very affordable. We originally had planned on 1 night, but loved it so much we stayed 2.

Review 87:The only thing is that is far away from the city center of Vitoria, but a cab costs 5-10 eur. Staff is very helpful with arranging it.

Review 88:One of the best hotels I have stayed at, its unique atmosphere, where every detail is touched, the comfortableness, the cleanliness, the extremely nice and helpful staff. I strongly recommend staying there, priceless experience!

Review 111:It is located close to a main street and when windows are open it is quite noisy

Review 112:The hotel is very nice and the employes are very kind

Review 114:Restored old building full of character. Spacious room.
