Reviews for Hotel Nicolay 1881

Review 1:Sometimes internet was slow.

Review 2:We stayed at this hotel a couple of times with our dog. The staff is always really friendly and attentive. As we are vegans, this place is a real gem: it offers many vegan options for breakfast (selfmade spreads, fruits, salads, soyghurt and soymilk, just to name a few :)). The hotel-restaurant "Weinstube" is 100% vegan and the cook is one of the most creative vegan cook I have experienced! That's why we would go back there any time! Plus: they have their own-grown mushroom culture (you have to try the mushroom platter)! On several sundays they also offer a vegan brunch and, since a couple of months, there is a vegan "fastfood" lunch restaurant.

Review 3:Very friendly and committed staff. Excellent vegan food with great variety. Nice big room with everything one needs. Flexibility on breakfast hour. View on Mosel. Easy parking.

Review 4:rather dated décor but outside looks worse than inside. Restaurant shut Mondays.

Review 5:Lovely big pool to myself, good breakfast which they started a bit early for me.

Review 6:The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. There was a perfectly acceptable alternative to the vegan restaurant menu available.

Review 7:Wi-Fi was so slow it was unusable.

Review 8:Very friendly and pleasant Hotel right by the river in beautiful surrounding vineyards.

Review 9:Poor Wi-Fi

Review 10:Super friendly staff! The vegan food was delicious.

Review 11:Only restaurant where dogs were not allowed unless you are a vegan

Review 12:Very clean

Review 13:The restaurant

Review 14:View on the hills

Review 15:Only the fact that there were not many people staying there during our visit.

Review 16:Swimming pool available until10pm. Location. Staff very helpfull.

Review 17:Where to start? Reception smelled of wet Dog...wifi was not available( was being fixed tomorrow) and the room had a wee 14 inch portable tv with only the terresrtrial channels-not sat tv as advertised.to top it all I had someone in the room above me start to play catch/fetch with his dog at midnight...imagine a dog running back and forth in a room .i went down to complain, but reception was closed,so i went to the room above myself.occupier would not answer.coward. I was due to stay 2 days but left at 7am the next morning. If you can avoid, then do so!!!

Review 18:The location and the fact that at leats the rooms were clean.

Review 19:- poor WIFI speed

Review 20:Second time I stay in this hotel, and it still is the same like before. easy and simpel. It's in a nie located place, personal is very friendly as usual. No question is too much for them. Room one person, us enough, aldo the WIFI on the second floor is poor of speed. But the room is OK. Breakfast is more then enough, lots of choices you can make. And the personal is Always busy putting on dishes. Good

Review 21:This hotel is old and tired. The view from outside is disappointing,, crumbling brick work and flaking paint accompany an unsympathetic extension from the 70's, along with a few dead window boxes. Broken floor tiles from the 70's reinforce the impression as you enter. The reality by no means reflects the pictures from the website. We requested - if possible - a room overlooking the river. We got a room overlooking the vinyards and also directly above the kitchen at the back of the hotel,, for me, waking to the smell of bacon and eggs is not pleasant. The room was very clean but in need of renovation. An old faded and stained carped, a bedroom suite from the 70's - or maybe the 'Sperrmüll' even ?? - The breakfast was of a usual standard but not outstanding. Overall not good value for money. We will not stay here again.

Review 22:not much.

Review 23:I ordered a double bed because I like plenty of room but because I was only one person it came with a single pillow and single duvet. On request they brought me another pillow and a single blanket. Toiletries were very minimal, one very small bar of soap and one very small shampoo each day.

Review 24:Location - overlooking the Mosel. Double room was very spacious. Breakfast was good.

Review 25:No separate bar area but that may have been time of year. Hotel feels very tired in places and somewhat run down. Furniture as it was in 1960. Needs a full refurb.

Review 26:Very friendly staff, especially at dinner. The food in the evening was very good as was the breakfast. Easy parking outside front of hotel and we were also oferred the use of the garage.

Review 27:the diner wasn't all that good. New cook ?

Review 28:the location is nice along the board of the river and in the charming village. The pool and sauna are very nice (no extra costs). The room was spacious overlooking the river and the vineyards. breakfast was good.

Review 29:Excellent hotel and a very friendly and accommodating staff...ready to assist. great location for exploring the Mosel River Valley and an excellent restaurant within the hotel. Also very accommodating for pets. Highly recommend staying here.

Review 30:The only thing I didn't like was that I didn't stay there long enough. We will be back in September.

Review 31:A family hotel for 4 generations. The hosts were charming, articulateand extreemly helpful. The breakfast was so full and varied that youdon't need to eat again until the evening. All in all a splendidexperience.

Review 32:No negatives regarding this hotel. Wish I could have stayed longer andhope to return again next year.
